Maybe something like this:
Petrova (Darkvision out front. Plus stealthy scoutiness.)
Hanethes (Along with high Perception. And more scout skills.)
Talon (Muscle)
Kanthuun (Squishy caster in the middle)
Drovya (More muscle)
Arasmes (And high Perception back here, too)
Rogar (And more Darkvision in back, plus the Healer, and a guy to play rear-guard)
Once we're no longer going single-file:
Petrova and Hanethes (Playing scout)
Talon, Kanthuun, and Drovya (with Kanthuun in the middle, protected by our melee heavies)
Arasmes and Rogar (pulling rear-guard)
This would obviously change if headed into known trouble.

Oh yeah, who wants to hold on to the wayfinder? I can if no one else wants it, and I even have an ioun stone to put into it.

Hmmm. Yeah, we've got stuff to distribute. So, unless people object:
Petrova and Arasmes are each gonna have both a Wand of Cure Light Wounds and a Wand of Undetectable Alignment (as people who can actually use them without a roll). Arasmes Wand of UA is the one down 7 charges.
Rogar will also have a Wand of Undetectable Alignment (as the other person who can do that).
And I think Drovya (because of the Ioun Stone as mentioned) or Kanthuun (because of his squishiness and middle-of-group position) are the logical ones to have the Wayfinder...but IC, Arasmes would likely be leery of giving the guy who none of us actually know (whose sword might possess him) the vital object, so I vote Kanthuun. :)

That's fine by me, and let's me keep my stones spinning around my head as Vance intended.

Discretion is the better part of valor. I'm not sure what we'd gain from attacking, bothering, or hailing something(s) busy eating their meal. We're here on a stealth mission, I reckon, and I'm going to assume that everything we meet can cast Commune and Sending to their superiors, meself.
Unless we go around it and the Wayfinder points back to it, in which case--uh, that was easy or something isn't what it seems.
Alternately, we surround the thing with arrows notched, and hail it. Since everything is inimical to us here, I'm not sure what good that would do--we have the Wayfinder to point us to the way, so all it could do is tell us dangers in our path. I doubt Rogar would approve of us threatening a poor daemon, extracting information, and then killing it off, though. Maybe if we stab it in the front with full disclosure. ;)

I can't say that I'm very fond of the thought of leaving a threat behind us when we could dispatch it. And I'm not that worried about killing and/or extracting information from the residents of Abbadon. They are categorically evil. I say we hail it, get whatever information we can, and dispatch it before it can call on a higher up. Commune's got a 10 minute casting time anyway. We should be fine.

I'm going to let someone else initiate the fight if its going to happen, unless someone asks me to.
Drovya Gregorovitch |
I'm cool with GM-rolled initiative, especially at times like this when we're just waiting to make the inevitable saving throw.
Talon Skyfall |
Yep, agreed.
Talon Skyfall |
That was what I thought as well.

Hey guys, we just need one more successful aid another on knowledge planes so Petrova can beat that DC 30.
