I'm still a little unclear on whether detect magic worked to spot the magical mirror or not. If it worked, then Rohini could and would cast detect magic again to identify the position of the magical mirror and then call it out to the group, and hope someone can smash it before it moves again. Similarly/alternately, if playing the flute and gaining true sight would reveal the position of the mirror, then the logical thing to do is to play the flute and call out the location of the mirror. If neither approach is workable, then she'll just smash the nearest mirror as indicated in the play thread...
The Elusive Trout |
It takes three rounds, Rohini, and I assumed you used the Detect Magic in tandem with Spellcraft to identify the mirror.
Even if you know which mirror it is, the problem is that the attack's outcome is random. I know which one it is, and every time one of you knock one of those things off, roll a D10, D9, etc going down according to how many are left.
Talon Skyfall |
This Anti-Talon is tough. I did enough to drop me and he's still standing. Worthy opponent this one is.
Talon Skyfall |
Well he can't have her. Technically I can't either because she's in another plane. But that's beside the point.
Talon Skyfall |
Yea, Happy Birthday.
The Elusive Trout |
:) Awwwww. You guys rule. Oh! And things are looking up with the thing what caused a depressive episode and whatnot. I should be able to start working back to full functioning within the week. I'll try to get another post up as soon as I can commit to quality.
Talon Skyfall |
Good to hear that you're getting better.
Drovya Gregorovitch |
Life is annoying sometimes; glad to hear you're feeling better. Take your time and come back to us when you're up to it.
Rohini Soni |
I echo Drovya's sentiment. Seems to me that a lot of people (myself included) are finding 2014 pretty challenging. Hope you're having a good birthday.
Haka Thunderfoot |
¡Cumpleaños Feliz, Truchita!
On depressive episodes, if you haven't read the book Hyperbole and a Half, you should, as should those who love ya. And those who like to laugh, because it's funny as hell. Gave me a lot of insight into a couple of people very dear to me who suffer from depression - so I understood it wasn't about me, and I learned a bit about how I can help without trying to "fix" them.
Kanthuun |
Happy Birthday, Trout! Ah, as for depression, the more resources you throw at it, the better off you'll be...everyone's brainmeats and emotional baggage/current situation are different. You have our support and compassion. And my axe! Oh wait, that was Gimli's line.
Talon Skyfall |
Yay!
Haka Thunderfoot |
That's awesome, Trout! I'm posting this on my phone, while four kittens climb around on my lap. We often foster litters of kittens in the spring. We're asked to name them by some theme, which we get to pick. This year's crop are named after Batman villains: Harley Quinn, Joker, Penguin (who's black & white) and Mr. Freeze (who's a fat white snowball).
Seriously good therapy, glad you got one!
Haka Thunderfoot |
So, Haka is actin' a little weird, I'll acknowledge that. But he still likes you guys. As a testament to that, here are some links to pictures of the kittens I'm fostering:
Kitten String Strike Team! - something weird with the sound on this one, so turn your volume down first
Rohini Soni |
That is some serious cuteness right there!
By the way, is that a cork floor? We're considering getting a cork floor to increase sound insulation, rather than having wall-to-wall carpeting. If that is indeed cork floor, how have you liked it?
Haka Thunderfoot |
That is a cork floor, and I like it very much. I've put cork in the guest room (where the kittens live) and my kitchen and it's worked out great. It's quite good for sound insulation, warm and slightly soft under foot (the guest room is slab on grade, and was quite cold before, and now it's cozy). I just used the floating cork planks, which click together. The only caveat I'd put on them is to perhaps avoid really high traffic areas - there's a little office attached to my kitchen and the rolling desk chair has slowly worn the finish off the cork, though it's taken 6 or 7 years. But even in the rest of the kitchen, which gets tons of foot traffic, the floor looks great.
If you want to discuss in greater detail, feel free to PM me.
Haka Thunderfoot |
No idea what that noise was, some glitch in the camera, methinks. And I considered radiant flooring, but this was cheaper and easier and seems to have worked out just as well. I stayed in a rental place last month with radiant floors heating, and it was warm, but the floors were so hard that it wasn't as comfy as I expected.
And yes, the little grey cat is a cutie - we named it Joker, thinking it was a boy, but I learned yesterday that she's a girl, which explains why she's smarter than the other two boys (like humans, girl kittens develop a bit faster than the boys).
Haka Thunderfoot |
Since we're turning this into the flooring thread...
I think you could do that, but the cork is such a good insulator that you'd lose a lot of efficiency in heating with the radiant heat - it'd be like putting the hot water bottle outside the blankets, instead of under the blankets with you. So it would be super warm under the cork, but not as warm where you're walking around on it.
That's just my speculation, maybe it would work fine, but I'd look into it carefully before going for the double-whammy.
Haka Thunderfoot |
Trout - do you want to post a little summary of the action to date and close out the two rounds or so we just played, then we can all do initiative and such? I don't want to get too far out of sequence and I want to be sure anyone else who wants to can act before Haka takes his next (totally not possessed, dominated or otherwise externally controlled) actions.
Haka Thunderfoot |
Haka was invisible when he stood up and ran away, as he cast while he was prone. So someone would have to roll a mighty high Perception check to spot him, in order to get an AoO.
And why would you want to attack Haka anyway?
Drovya Gregorovitch |
Well, despite being invisible, he still provokes, and knowing where he was when he turned invisible, we can target his square, so technically yes, we should still get AoO's, at least, that's my take on it.
