I want to indicate to the elf that Colwin will consider her crawling out of the grease flame worthy, which I think makes sense :) If she continues he will flame her, and the goblin, but omit the man who says he is leaving. I believe her crawl should also provoke from Colwin's dagger?

Colwin frowns down at the elf and snaps,

"Keep moving and I am going to have to burn you Madam elf. I thought I had been, ah, explicit enough with my warning, but apparently not. So, ah, crawl another inch and I'm going to cook you and your cohorts."

I'm sorry, I missed that Colwin said not to move. I'd say the pudgy man would just sit still, as directed. The elven woman, however, would disregard your threat. You can take the attack of opportunity with your dagger, although doing so would lose your stored charge. The goblin is still too busy fighting with the farmer to notice.

Male Human Wizard (Air Elementalist) 5; AC 14, 12 touch, 12 flatfooted; HP 43/43; Fort 4, Ref 3, Will 4; Initiative +8; Perception +16

Why would taking an attack of opportunity negate a readied action?

"You brought this upon yourselves," Colwin says sadly sending a line of searing flame spewing forth from his fingertips, omitting the man who said his was leaving, but giving him a hard look. The flames catch the goblin and the elven woman.

Rolled fire jet damage in previous post 5 points DC 15 Reflex for half.

If the elf woman still attempts to move Colwin, looking a little sick and panicky lashes out with his dagger.

Dagger: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13Damage: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0

Should hit AC 17 as she is prone for 1 damage - woo :p

"I said don't move! There is a great deal more where that came from!"

Ah, you're right. I was thinking you were holding your charge, but you were readying an action and you still get your attack of opportunity.

The elf attempts to save...
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (13) - 1 = 12
and fails, taking 5 points of fire damage and 1 point of dagger damage.

She will still be continuing her movement as mentioned, although she looks badly wounded.

Kensington discontinues all attacks. She does prepare to cast a spell, Drench, to help defeat the fire if the tavern truly does begin to get engulfed.

"I suggest we heed the lawman's reccomendation."

Please forgive Kensington. She's lawful/neutral. Perfect alignment for a navy officer, but not always the best thing for an adventuring party should a cop start issuing orders...

Male Elf Dervish Dancer Bard/2 | HP 12/12 (5NL) | AC: 13, Touch: 13, FF: 10 | Fort: -1, Ref: +5, Will: +2 | Init +5 | Perception +2

Can't I try to trip Grelm as he passes as an attack of opportunity? If so

trip attempt:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
If not:
then I will sheath my sword, end my battle dance and attempt to break up the fight with the drunkard and the other mercenary. Or run after Grelm which ever the group decides is better at the time (if running after Grelm then I do not sheath my sword and end my battle dance).

Male Human Wizard (Air Elementalist) 5; AC 14, 12 touch, 12 flatfooted; HP 43/43; Fort 4, Ref 3, Will 4; Initiative +8; Perception +16

Note the goblin should have been hit by the fire jet to. And since she failed her save the elf is now on fire and will take another 1d6 damage next round - though she can attempt a reflex to put it out by rolling on the floor.

"You are on fire woman! Lie still and I will remove the flames, I don't want to hurt you any further!"

Looking back to the alleged law man he calls,

"And if you want people to stop hitting the victimized parties before they have a chance to respond is hardly the way to go about it. If you refrain from further violence and these fools will stay still then we will gladly halt, but I'm not going to let some mutton head steal from my friends just because his biceps are bigger than his brains."

The young wizard is breathing hard, flushed with anger, and looking distinctly queasy.

Leotian takes a fist in the back from the supposed lawman "Augh!" The force of the blow pushes the small man to the edge of the table, and he flails his arms trying to keep his balance. He keeps his balance long enough to hop off the table to the left of Aldaara.

Seeing that Grelm has fled he really has no reason to continue fighting, he reaches for his back where the man hit him. "Ow ow ow ow ow, what kind of lawman hits a halfling in the back for trying to defend a lady under assault?" He winces, and looks towards Kensington "Oooh that's going to leave a bruise the size of my head. You're bleeding... You ok Ken? Do you mind if I call you Ken?"

Silver Crusade

F Half-Orc Sorcerer/1

"Well, I'd prefer Lieut... er, Ken would be fine. This is not my... ship. Thank you, Leotian. Shall I call you Leo?"

She finds the questioning of the lawman's credentials quite unusual. The idea that he might not be valid had not occurred to her.

"Officer, perhaps you'd be good enough to show us a badge or medallion, please?"

The cloaked law man, seeing that the battle immediately in front of him has broken up for the moment, yells to his right, "Get that fire out!". The bartender behind the bar begins reaching for something, whilst the bespectacled man is now shrieking and trying to pat the flames in a poor attempt to combat them.

The law man then proceeds to his left, still brandishing his longsword, and yells to the halfling "Get out of my way, or I'll thwonk you again!". He is looking intently at the brawl going on between the flaming goblin and the farmer. There are 2 other scuffles going on now in the north side of the inn. "You there," he shouts at the closer combatants, "stop now or I shall have to use force!". He barely notices Colwin (yet), who would seem to be trying to achieve the same outcome.

Male Human Wizard (Air Elementalist) 5; AC 14, 12 touch, 12 flatfooted; HP 43/43; Fort 4, Ref 3, Will 4; Initiative +8; Perception +16

Ignore this if things are not dying down. Drawing the fire to him is a swift action.

Colwin waits to see whether the elf stops moving before deciding which fire to call to himself. If she seems to stop he calls the flame from her first and then calls the flames from the linen fire, if not he lets her burn and snuffs the linen fire first.

"Ironic that I, ah, make a pretty good fire fighter," he adds a trifle smugly as flames dance around his flesh leaving him completely unharmed, before fading away in a matter of seconds.

Kensington will use the drench spell to help counter the fires.

Leotian glares at the law man "Do all law men in this area take pleasure in harassing those smaller than them? Does it make you feel like a big man? I'm only here because this is where I fell when you struck, I'm hardly trying to block your path. And sir, if you even attempt to thwonk me again, I'll have to consider it an attempt on my life, and be forced to defend myself." He moves past Aldaara, assuming she'll let him, to stand between Kensington and Horfil.

If Colwin takes care of the fire:

"Nicely done Colwin, your grease kept the oaf's companions at bay, and you took care of the fire too. Great job"

He looks up at Kensington. "Sorry, I didn't mean to be rude and ignore your question. You can certainly call me Leo, the others too, we're friends now right? And if you prefer Lute that's ok, like a nickname?"

We're all actually unarmed, so no attacks of opportunity. Unless we were Monks. :P

Aldaara, hearing the voice of a man of the law, quickly stops fighting, and moves to put the fire out. She scrambles for any nearby non-alcoholic liquids, and begins trying to douse the fire with them. Smothering the fire never occurs to her.

"Someone stop that man!" She shouts, pointing an arm at Grelm as he tries to escape.

Good point about being unarmed, although Colwin had a dagger at the time he took a swipe at the retreating elf, and I think Horfil's "attack" made some sense given the situation.

The fires are abating quickly due to the quenching from Kensington.

Grelm appears to be exiting the inn, and the law man appears to be intent on continuing to move to break up the fight with the goblin.

Horfil, are you going to try to chase Grelm?

Yes I will try to chase Grelm down. total stats med load 20ft. battle dance +10ft. total run(dance) speed 30ft. I will charge at him.

"Grelm stop now!" Horfil screams attempting to catch up to him and goes prancing out of the bar.

1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 16 This is to hit

1d10 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 This is damage if hit

I assume you're aware of subdual damage vs. regular damage?

As Horfil dances across the entrance way, his body and blades a blur of death in motion, he catches up to the fleeing Grelm and catches him, wounding him severely and knocking him to the ground.

As the tall fighter lays on the ground bleeding, the fighting between the goblin and farmer seems to stop. In fact, the whole room seems to take on a sudden quiet as all of the minor skirmishes about the room seem to end at once.

The lawman grunts to Kensington, "My word and my metal are all the badge I need", he turns to see that the goblin and the farmer have stopped fighting. He then notices Horfil chasing the other large fighter outside. He changes his focus and steps out of the entrance way to intercede. Immediately after Grelm falls, he shouts at Horfil, "Cease immediately, or I shall cut you down where you stand". He is now brandishing his long sword menacingly at Horfil in a very threatening display of capability.

With the aid of several people, including a drenching rain appearing from seemingly inside the Inn, The fire on the table near the scholar is now effectively extinguished.

The pudgy man continues to lie still, while a small sneer appears on his face.

Several patrons have backed away from the large grease spot on the floor and burning woman. They eye the wizard warily.

The pale elven woman continues to burn for another few seconds, and then passes out from the pain, collapsing to the ground. The smell of burning flesh, oil, and paper now lingers in the mostly quiet inn.

"Right, well that was an, ah, astonishing excersise in futility." Colwin snaps, glowering about,

"May I suggest that you care for your friend. And further suggest that if you are foolish enough to think of revenge you, ah, forget it. Your friend tried to rob us you tried to back him, you failed lets call that an end to it shall we?"

Turning to the alleged lawman he calls,

"Are you any sort of official Sir? By what right do you claim authority? Any thug can claim to rule by their metal and their word, as my good friend Horfil here demonstrated it is not worth a sack of dung on its own."

"Lawman you just saw what I did to this guy are you sure that you want to fight me? But no matter my intention was to stop him under orders of Aldaara the Paladin who travels with me and my companions. Now that his advance has been stopped indefinitely I will stop all 'hostile' actions towards him and the patrons in the bar and this town. Oh and under who's law do you practice?"

I have no intent to fight him because I only have one more use of Battle Dance left however if he wishes to fight after what I have said then I will fight him.

Horfil seethes his sword after wiping off the blood on the near by grass. He also stops his Battle Dance.

Knowledge(Local): 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24 This is to recognize the type of law he practices if he answers my question

Subdual damage doesn't kill. It knocks someone temporarily out. It is also known as non-lethal damage.

"Lawman by fiat. What a queer standard to set. What happens in this world should the lawman turn out to be the town criminal? How is justice meted out?"

She looks around at the inn, and looks at the burned woman. Were she back on the ship, she wouldn't even need to wait for the Captain to give her the order. She'd already have used the message spell to call medical. A nurse (druid who specializes in healing magic and the heal & herbalism skills) would be on the scene in minutes.

"How utterly tragic that we had to resort to violence to fend off our adversaries. On the other hand, we did win, didn't we? I find this feeling of victory satisfactory... No! This is not our way. I must meditate tonight, and shed such base feelings. I was warned I'd have some trouble because I have not learned balance. Perhaps this is what they meant."

Then she looks to the rest of her party.

"I apologize for being so much trouble. It is the human side of my ancestry. Those of us with human grandparents or great-grandparents often find the human baseness bothersome. Now, if I may suggest, when we bunk in rooms, we should bunk in pairs. As we've just seen, this place is not safe. So I suggest we bunk in pairs instead of individually. I mean two people in a room. It is logical that the lady and I bunk in the same room, due to modesty concerns. Any one of us, woman or man, is clearly vulnerable if we're all in seperate bedrooms. Pairing up will both save gold and afford better defense. And we've still yet to establish a command order. This is the second time lack of leadership has resulted in a sadly chaotic state of actions. If we're organized and coordinated, with only one person giving orders and everyone aware of each other's jobs, we'll be ready to repel any further ambush."

Thanks however if I try non-lethal damage then I take a -4 to hit which as it stands with the charge my to hit bonus would have been my only bonus to hit... I'm sorry for not trying non-lethal damage I just need all of the to hit bonus that I can get with no BAB at level 1. He shouldn't be dead even if he had a d8 for health he is only at -4 health.

No worries about taking out the big guy with lethal force -- it's what you have to do sometimes :) And no, he's not dead. But he is bleeding and completely unconscious

The cloaked man looks around for a moment, and slowly sheaths his sword. He turns to the party and says, "I am Sheriff Cage Blunnde. My apologies for my blunt behavior but as it is my job to keep the peace, and you all were not keeping the peace, I had to intervene. I operate under the authority of the land owners in this area. And I saw more than one party being aggressive, just so you know."

He stoops to attend to Grelm. "This one will need some attending to for the night. You've almost killed him with your dancing act, there.". He motions for one of the serving girls who comes over with a towel. He tears it in two and ties one strip as a tourniquet. He hands the second strip to the girl who begins to wipe the blood from his face.

He stands, turns, walks closer to the group, and asks, "What was this fight about, anyway?"

We seem to be out of immediate combat, so out of initiative order

"My apologies," Kensington begins. "While we were travelling, I came upon this knife." She then reveals the knife to the lawman, allowing him to look at it but keeping it in her hands. "Somehow, the man known as Grelm knew that I had it and tried to lay claim. When I asked him to prove the dagger was his, he attacked me instead. My friends arose to my defense. If he'd just given me some proof, he'd have had this dagger. But he attacked instead. How utterly tragic."

"I did not mean to use my full power on that attack I just was in the heat of the moment you know? And to back up my friends accusations towards Grelm I confess that what she said is true, and I bet that we can get a confession from his friends if we ask kindly enough."

Horfil look at Kensington and asks

"Are you alright?"

Lantern Lodge

Leotian winces seeing Horfil take down Grelm it was maybe a little excessive, but he did indeed stop the man. He watches the lawman sheath his weapon, and decides the man isn't going to start any more trouble, so he turns his attention towards Kensington "Kensington, you don't have to apologize, that man came over looking for a fight, he probably would have attacked even if you'd have freely given up the dagger. None of this is your fault at all." He eyes the lawman as he approaches and decides not to respond to his backhanded apology "I'm sorry Ken, I shouldn't have resorted to violence I couldn't just stand by while he attacked you." He considers the Half-Orc's words "Did we really do that badly? Maybe you should be leader Kensington, you're always so level headed, and you seem to know how it should be done."

He shrugged his shoulders looking towards the lawman "I guess I'm not used to more civilized areas, I'm unaccustomed to watching my friends get pummeled. And I believe you did some aggressing of your own... just so you know." With a nod towards Grelm "The man out of danger? I have some basic medical training."

Sheriff Blunnde regards Kensington briefly before examining the knife. "I see," he says. "And how did you come to posses the knife, exactly? Can you be more precise than 'traveling'?".

As Horfil offers his apology for attacking Grelm, the sheriff simply nods and says, "It's understandable. Sometimes, in the heat of a fight, we lose our control and let instinct take over. Knowing when to hold back a punch, and knowing when to put your enemy down, is sort of an art, it seems.

The sheriff turns to Leotian as he addresses him, "Oh, him? I think he'll be all right. That girl there attending to him has some gift with healing. He should be well enough come morning."

"As for the dagger, I'm afraid I'll have to ask for it for safe keeping as evidence. In the morning, we shall hear Grelm's side of the story and determine the truth. Until then, I'm placing all of you, along with the Black Riders, under house arrest."

After the fire has been settled, Aldaara turns to the lawman. After her companions and the lawman has had a chance to speak, she takes her turn. "I understand, officer. You were simply trying to keep the peace. As it was, these gentlemen, and that lady over there-" She takes a moment to point over at the burned/burning lady. "-decided to attack us in a moment of greed. It was merely an act of self-defense. You have my apologies that events were escalated in such a way.

She glances over at her companions. "I cannot speak for them, but I would like you to know that you have my full cooperation. If you'll excuse me for a moment?"

She goes back to her companions, joining in the conversation they've started. "I understand the need for a leader. Perhaps Kensington wouldn't be a bad choice, if she feels up to it. I must admit, my...feelings about some of you may seem biased and unfair. I do have some experience leading, but that is a group of trained soldiers, clerics, and paladins, not...mercenaries, such as we are." She then turns to Kensington.

"Out of everyone here, you are the only one I can place myself behind. I assume the men will have a problem with me as a leader, so why not do it yourself? After all, one must follow before they can lead, and you appear to be ready for the next step. What say you?" Aldaara has a warm smile on her face.

Diplomacy check on the sheriff. 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10

EDIT: Oy...Perhaps I came off a little harshly to the sheriff, seeing as he is a man...

Talking to the sheriff:
"You too have my full cooperation after almost killing Grelm I believe that I am in no good place to start on your good side."

Talking to the group:
"Well Kensington has already expressed her feeling on being the leader of this group so it looks like you win by default unless anyone would wish to nominate or speak up. Oh and just so you know Aldaara I was trained in the art of the sword when I was a kid, don't put me in the same category as a common mercenary and Kensington has said that she was a military person herself, Leo could have had some training as a spy in his past and has left that life behind and Colwin is a wizard who train their entire lives learning magic. I for one do not think us as a group of mercenaries just a hodgepodge group of different skill sets most suited for what jobs we were trained for sense birth. All we need is for someone to guide us in battle, a strategist perhaps.Wait for a moment. I nominate Colwin as the leader of this group!"

Sorry about the scolding I just wanted to put what I thought about our group out there is all

Colwin nods at the Sheriffs word and resheathes his dagger,

"Ah, well in that case I am much happier about things. I must apologize for my use of fire, but I am a, ah, weak man and against those with weapons and brawn I had no other defense. I should add that we came upon the corpse of a hobgoblin upon the road, which is where we found the dagger after wresting the body from a pack of dogs and giving it a, ah, proper send off in the manner of Miss Stone's people. It had clearly been abandoned, and as such was no property of our these Black Riders. I will, ah, also point out that I had the ability to put out any fire started accidently so was no danger to this establishment. Now is there anyone who can treat this poor elven lady's burns?"

Looking to the group he adds,

"I have no desire for a leader, nor to be one, though I thank you Horfil. Nor would I follow one against my better judgment, I do not recall joining an army. I say we follow our best judgment and try to work together while, ah, respecting one another. If someone wishes to give me a suggestion I will, ah, happily consider it..."

To Kensington in particular he says,

"Eminently sensible suggestions, I suppose the three of us males could share easily enough. I'll have Gibbeous stand a watch to, he can sleep during the day tomorrow."

Colwin if you would like to know the reasons behind me nominating you as leader here they are:

Reasons:
First, it would sound egotistic of me if I nominated myself. Second, You being a wizard you must have a high int score (not for sure if that is true in real life but most people who choose wizard in the first place are these types of people anyway) and that was my point for someone leading us who is a strategist. And Thirdly, you did well in the bar that impressed my character I know that is a weak excuse but that plus the way you handled the dogs and gave me the chain vest all culminated into a friendship that my character seldom experienced as a kid (in a weird elf-human friendship sort of way...).

Makes perfect sense to me Horfil :) Though I doubt Colwin would make a very good leader since he has the charisma of your average earthworm ;)

"It was not a post I wanted, immediately, but it does seem navy experience, and proficiency at communication, makes a wise way of command. If you'll have me, I'll accept leadership. Should I prove inadaquate, I will be glad to step down, of course. There is no reason for us to be in opposing camps should an agreement not be found. I suggest that we decide by voting, and that whomever is not the winner becomes leader's assistant. No Captain would dare think of making a major move without consulting the first officer or the ship's counselor (a tarot reader, astrologer, or other druid or witch who specializes in divination spells), after all. The life of the entire crew is in his hands. A second opinion must be sought. So shall it be with us, and that shall be the law."

She turns back to the lawman, and hands the dagger to him.

"I understand the need to impound evidence. Back home... aboard my ship, we have paladins doing the same job you do. They protect the citi... crew, and keep order. In my job aboard as a communications officer, it was my job to send for the security paladin team fairly frequently. As to the matter of what we are doing and how we came to be here, we were employed by someone who wished us to make a delivery. More than that, I probably should not say, but I will be glad to refer you to our employer." (She tells him the employer's name, and where to find them, if she knows. "As we were walking, we came upon the corpse of a hobgoblin being molested by dogs. We chose to put a stop to this. We also performed a sky burial for the hobgoblin, which my companions appeared to find disgusting, but is the way of my... ship, when burial at sea is not possible. From earth we come, so to earth we must return. I agree that house arrest is more than fair, considering the circumstances. As for how I got the knife, I noticed a shine, probably a reflection from the light, in some foliage and I went to investigate. That is when I came upon the dagger and I picked it up."

She turns back to her companions.

"Thank you for your wisdom, Leotian, and your confidence, Aldaara, and for your concern, Horfil. I am only mildly injured compared to those that tried to assault us. If you feel the need to fulfill your honor by assisting with medical care, I will not stop you. But as for myself, his punishment is earned and now the lawman will decide further action. I will abide by what you ask, officer."

Lantern Lodge

Leotian listens to the sheriff, then frowns as he mentions house arrest everyone else seems quite willing to accept this man's word, but it seems too convenient to him. "Now hold on Mr. Sheriff, I'm all for cooperation, but you've still failed to produce any proof of your authority. If you're a man of the law you must have something that identifies you as such. I don't know you from them, and I'm afraid I have trouble submitting myself to any kind of arrest just on your word after all we all have words and metal. You also want to take the dagger. How do I know you're not part of their group? This house arrest thing could be just to stall us while you wait for reinforcements, or maybe get us behind lock and key then burn the place down. We just came for a nice meal, and before we even saw the barmaid some big oaf we've never seen before came over and started swinging fists. Sorry, but I'm not in a mood for trusting strangers right now."

If I missed it somewhere, and the Sheriff did show some credentials please ignore the above.

He listens to his companions discussing leadership he nods agreeing to Aldaara's comments it was nice to see that she acknowledges her bias "I must admit as you say Aldaara, I would have trouble following you... not that I would purposefully rebel, or that I think you wouldn't do it well, but the way you talk to me makes me not want to listen to you."

After hearing Horfil and Colwin put in their opinions "Of course we're not an army, but I think we could benefit from a little guidance to take full advantage of what each of us has to offer. As Horfil said we are each specialized in our own area..." He chuckles a bit "Though I'm afraid I was never a spy, I talk far too much for that." He looks towards the elf woman "I'm not the best with burns... I don't think I would be much help, better to leave her to the girl with the healing talent. I'm happy to share a room, I don't take up much space so three to a room should be fine. Can we get something to eat first?"

Silver Crusade

Female Human Paladin 1

She snickers a bit at the comment Leotian made. "Well I appreciate your candour, little one. As for you..."She turns to Horfil.

"I meant no disrespect. Some of the greatest warriors are, in fact, mercenaries. I suppose I should have stated that I have experience commanding trained soldiers of the faith. Besides, though you may have experience on the battlefield, I doubt the rest of our companions do."

Her eyes glance over to Colwin, and she continues speaking. "Don't think of it as a leader then. As you said, you weren't joining an army. However, if we are going to succeed, we need to work as a team. That's the name of the game. I'm sure you won't ignore orders out of spite, and no one expects you to obey anything unreasonable. I just hope no one gets hurt because you were 'considering the suggestion'." Aldaara gives Colwin a cold stare, before moving past him. She takes her pack from the floor and lifts it over her shoulder, before climbing the steps.

"Well I suppose Kensington and I will be sharing a room tonight. Better get some sleep. I'm assuming we're going to have a long day tomorrow..." She trails off, making her way to her room.

"I did not mean to start an argument. My intention solely was, as my schoolteachers would put it, to have all of us on the same page. The only one who doesn't belong in power, the druid priests often tell us in church, are those who go seeking it."

Kensington will order her dinner again, steak, potatoes, and tea. After she gets it, she will go up to the room with Aldaara. (If we have not yet rented rooms, Kensington will do this now.)

If Aldaara wants to, she can talk to Kensington. She'll answer.

Horfil takes out his trail rations and eats one set of them.

After eating he says:

"So who am I bunking with and which one of us is going to stay watch first? Or should it be the two girls in one room and the three guys in the other and even then which one of us guys are going to take watch first?"

Before Horfil goes to sleep he casts Alarm on the door and on the window.

Leotian smiles towards Aldaara; maybe he just imagined it, but when she called him little one she didn't seem to have the usual unfriendly tone. "You were honest, I can at least do the same. I think I like you more than before, I hope we can be good friends." He waves to her as she heads up the stairs "Sleep well Aldaara"

"You're going too?" He says as Kensington starts towards her room "Have a pleasant night Ken."

Leo will order a meal of his own, similar to what Ken had. "Well Horfil, I believe we decided to share a room between us three, and the ladies would have their own. Colwin said that Gibbeous would stand watch, but if you think we should have one of us on watch as well I can take first watch."

Colwin shrugs apologetically,

"Ah, I'm afraid I won't be standing a watch Leotian, I'm more concerned with having my magics ready for the morning just in case and I need a good nights sleep for that - I suppose you can sleep in after I wake to prepare my spells, so I can sort of take last watch if you, ah, like. Besides Gibbeous has better sense than me, especially at night."

In a whisper he adds, "I'll be prestidigitating the beeds before we sleep if you don't mind, I loathe the idea of bed bugs, makes my skin crawl."

The young wizard regains his seat and attempts to signal a barmaid, "Your finest repast please, preferably some form of red meat if you have it, and perhaps you could warm a little milk for me? Helps me sleep."

The barmaid returns with something resembling a sirloin steak, cooked as Colwin would like, as well as a glass of warm milk. She winks at him as she lays the food out for Colwin and Leotian (and whomever else stays up to have a last supper before bed)...

The inn seems to empty early. Perhaps as a consequence of the earlier brawl, and perhaps because of the notion that there are several people under apparent house arrest. Those who stay up to eat find themselves alone after a short while, beside the remaining barmaid, the sheriff, and the barkeep.

Assuming that everyone eventually does make it to bed.

On their way to their rooms, the party notices that the 4 mercenary companions are put into a room very near the two of theirs. They will also notice, before turning out the light, that no guards are posted.

The sheriff waits until the last member adjourns to their room, and disappears upstairs (the glowing dagger tucked in his waistband).

The night passes uneventfully.

The next morning, the party awakens to a tap on the door. "You're wanted by the sheriff in the taproom. Quickly, please" is all that is said before it is repeated at the next door.

"Its alright guys we don't have to post a guard I'm just a little bit paranoid after the events of today. And now that I'm thinking about it because we are under house arrest wont they post guards outside the door to make sure we don't escape?"

Horfil still casts Alarm on the door and window(if there is one) before he goes to sleep.

"Just as a precautionary measure I cast alarm on the door and window so that if we are interrupted for the first two hours of our sleep an alarm will wake me up so that I can fight off the intruder(s)."

Horfil places his sword within arms reach and in a position to where he can easily draw it if necessary.

"Oh and if you try waking me up I may take a swipe at you so just be careful when doing so... It is a quirk that I have from my time training with this sword."

Colwin packs away his spellbooks, laid out on the floor where he has been sitting cross legged studying them and rises.

"Well I suppose we had best get these, ah, shenanigans over with," he says stretching and then carefully stowing his books inside waterproof bags before tucking them away. He then heads down with the group, taking pains to keep an eye out for trouble, with Gibbeous perched upon his shoulder picking up on his master's wary mood.

Sorry I thought that I deleted my last post... Any-who

"Wha, who goes there." Horfil says sleepily.

"Where are we... Oh wait we are in an inn after a bar fight, right? Well still who are you?"

Horfil will comply with the orders after he hears who it is. The way he does so is by putting his armor (the chain mail) and putting on his sword in the sheath, getting his back pack on and then helping with others if needed.

Aldaara, already awake in the morning, gathers her things and armors herself. She goes downstairs, keeping silent as she does so.

Kensington awakens, having dreamed of her homeland. Her disappointment was clear as she realized her actual surroundings again upon awakening.

"We shall see our destinies," Kensington remarks as the fearful summons is made.

She regrets having slept in her uniform, because now it is all wrinkled. No matter. As soon as this is over, she will lather herself up with soap and cast drench on herself.

She obeys with the command.

Leotian gets ready with the others getting into his light armour and putting his bow on across his back. Seeing that Colwin and Horfil seem to be ready as well, he'll head down with them. "I suggest we all be on our guard. I don't like that Sheriff... and something doesn't feel right."

As the party enters the tap room, they are greeted by sight of the Sheriff and several people. Lined up against one wall, almost as if in a line up, are Grelm (the large brute from last night), a man dressed as a farmer, a gnome dressed as a tinker, and a tall female dressed in plain clothes. Opposite them, in a small cluster, are one of the serving girls , the bespectacled man, a man dressed as a merchant, and a stable boy.

The Sheriff says, as he sees the party enter, "Well good morning. I hope you slept well". He finishes this last bit with perhaps a subtle touch of a sneer.

After a brief pause, he continues, "It seems the investigation into the ownership of the dagger will have to wait. We have a new problem on our hands. Last night, as I went to sleep, I placed the dagger under my pillow. When I awoke, it was gone. It appears that the dagger was taken from my room last night, and I've got no small number of suspects for the crime. The 3 people already lined up against the wall there are suspected of taking it...", at this he points to the 3 folks lined up against the wall, "and you have also be accused of the deed.". He points at Horfil.

"These individuals here," he says, pointing at the others standing in a circle, "each have fingered a different person for the crime. I am at a loss as to who is guilty and how to sort through the facts and the testimony. The dagger must be found and the thief must be brought to justice. No one leaves until this is sorted out, damnit".
