Enya Cendrillion |
Enya looks down both paths. "Shall we take the road less traveled? Shall we give me material for an epic ballad?" That last sentence seemed directed more to Aldous than the rest of the party.
Aldous Mathis |
"Do I not already give you such material?" he says with a grin as he nods at the idea. Would the road less traveled be along the shoreline or intothe woods?
Enya Cendrillion |
Enya's eyes light up at the banter. "Perhaps, but I think there is more to this tale than I have yet to experience." She runs her hand descretely down the front of Aldous' leg.
Stealthy sexy move: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
River Calah |
I follow everyone but when it comes time to choose a path I am more interested in the path by the water and my body language says as much. But if the group decide to go in land I will follow them.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
You follow the path along the beach until it winds back into the jungle. After a while, you come to a clearing that contains overgrown fields of corn. The crops have gone wild, creating a high barrier wafting gently in the breeze.
If you go through, visibility's reduced to 5ft, as the cornstalks are extremely tall. Survival DC 15 to follow the trail.
Aldous Mathis |
Aldous slowly follows the trail as best he can, hoping upon hope that he can be lucky thanks to his goddess.
Survival: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
Take 2 : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
River Calah |
Is there any way around the cornstalks?
Enya Cendrillion |
Enya rolls her eyes at Cuddles' reckless behavior. He can handle himself I guess..."
River Calah |
Seeing Aldous walk into the bush to follow the trail, I follow alongside him and beckon the others to follow so as to not get lost within.
Survival : 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Aldous Mathis |
Looking at the eggs, he scoops up one that most looks like his goddess's colors.
Enya Cendrillion |
Enya looks confused. "What does a bunny and eggs have to do with men on sticks?!" She scratches her head as she picks up a red egg.
Aldous Mathis |
"Nothing. Eggs and rabbits are both signs of birth. Fertility. Likely an omen from Erastil."
Enya Cendrillion |
She looks at Aldous. "Rabbits a sign of fertility, eh?" She bumps Aldous' side with her hip.
Aldous Mathis |
He blushes quietly, then clears his throat. "Indeed. Something to be wary of if you are a pressganged member of a pirate crew, to be sure."
River Calah |
I walk along in silence, trying to make sure I do not trip over anything when the rabbit dashes past, I reach down and pick up a deep blue egg. "Well that's the first time I've seen a rabbit laying eggs!"
Enya Cendrillion |
Enya laughs melodically. "Indeed, River... Very strange..."
Aldous Mathis |
Sure...Aldous, Cuddles, Enya, River, Tao as rear guard.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Based on the will of the dice, Alain is between Enya and River.
As you follow the narrow path through the cornfield, the overgrown ears make it extremely hard to see (5ft visibility, 10ft has partial concealment, 15ft+ can't be seen). Suddenly, a giant bug monster bursts out of the ground and tries to grab Enya in its massive pinchers! Instead, it grabs an entire cornstalk and shreds it.

Your turns
No map for this one due to the limited vision. It's Large, insectile, and directly beside Enya/Alain. It has partial concealment from Aldous/Tao.
Cuddles |
Cuddles has no idea what it is. He doesn't really care. It has attacked a friend, therefore it must be put down. He turns and sprints at it, grabbing each side of its massive pincers in a massive hand.
grapple!: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
River Calah |
Seeing the large insect suddenly appear I jump back in shock and then see Cuddles charge into it with his arms reaching around the creature to give it a hug. I glare at the insect not sure if my curse will work on it. I laugh nonetheless although the laughter is more one of fear and shock than anything else.
Misfortune (DC : 15
Cackle
River Calah |
Forgot the Arcana check.
Knowledge (Arcana) : 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
I gasp as I see Cuddles actually grab hold of it once I realise what it is, "Cuddles! Let go! That's an Ankheg! It'll drag anything it holds underground! It can bite but it also spits acid AND it can sense our locations through vibrations in the ground!"
Enya Cendrillion |
"The Fu--!" Five foot step and begin bardic performance.
Tao Sheng ANPC |
Not sure if Tao can 5' or move to miss cover, but if so, he does so...if not -4 to the hit roll
Moving to attempt to get a better position, he draws forth his large sword and makes a hack at the large creature.
Power attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 7 - 1 + 1 = 20
2d6 + 6 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 + 3 + 1 = 17
不是今天. 不是我的好友.
Aldous Mathis |
"Be careful, Cuddles!"
Keeping his distance, he pulls out and cracks his whip.
1d20 + 2 + 1 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 2 + 1 - 4 = 7
1d4 ⇒ 2
And it looks like he might be trying to be an Ankheg tamer.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
Will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Countergrapple: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Countergrapple 2: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (16) + 11 = 27
Tao's blade bites deep, and the Ankheg looks rather annoyed. It struggles mightily against Cuddles and is about to reverse the hold when River's malediction gives it pause. (So close. I'll grapple Cuddles eventually...)
Round Two
Sleep: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Sleep Save 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The giant insect then passes out.
Your turns
Tao Sheng ANPC |
Tao takes a moment to finish the ankheg.
Coup de grace!
4d6 + 12 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 2) + 12 + 6 + 2 = 33
Enya Cendrillion |
Enya stopped singing and went to Aldous. "I don't know why, but for some reason I REALLY hate those things... Ive never seen one before..."
Aldous Mathis |
"A vile looking bug creature with a penchant for ruining things with acid. I think hate is a common thing people feel about them." He says to her with a quick hug, being far more likely to reveal his emotions with just their group nearby.
Your Benevolent Dictator |
As you continue weaving through the maze of cornstalks, you notice several scarecrows topped with rotting severed heads. There appear to be 8 or 9 of them. There's nothing else of interest. It seems to be the end of the trail. (Also, as you wander around, go ahead and give me three Perception checks DC 25).
Cuddles |
Perception 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Perception 2: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Perception 3: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Cuddles finds a body in the corn just under the stalk from which he ripped his latest ear. It has a rusted dagger on it with a jeweled scabbard worth about 25 gold.
Aldous Mathis |
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (3) + 14 = 17
This island just keeps getting more welcoming..."

perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Tao Sheng ANPC |
Tao follows quietly, his eyes quickly darting back and forth, looking for anything else that might be a problem.
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Sliding his sword into the ground, he reaches out and pulls a skeleton free from the corn and takes a small bag from it's hand.
"Seems we have more loot."
Alain Shadestrom |
the best Alain can do with perception is a 23 so I won't bother making the rolls
Alain will look around nervously then go over to look at the body casting detect magic. "I guess we don't have to look very far for a cause of death."
Enya Cendrillion |
Mica sticks her nose in the field.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22
River Calah |
Sane as Alain, it is impossible for me to make the check, so won't even bother rolling.
I walk around with everyone trying to make sure that I do not end up the same way as the discovered bodies.
