This sounds interesting. I'll see if I can put together a submission over the weekend. How would you feel about a Gorumite in the underground gladiator arenas looking to build an army of criminal enforcers to eventually overthrow the city?
A different idea. What you say 'overthrow the city' what does this entail exactly? Actually trying to ovrthorw Oppara or just overtake the underworld or..?
Ooh this looks very cool. Color me curious.
Let me know if that kind of character is something you would be interested in, and if it is then I will tweak his background and down-level him to meet guidelines.
I like him, very cool. Very much looking at, if you ask me. Adjust away!
What do you think about a rising information broker as a character concept?
I like her motivations, not sold on werewolf aspect. Not discounting, just not sold. If you want to back it up, go for it. Information broker is a fine angle to start with.
I think I am going to go with a necromancer who will begin his empire by disposing of bodies that should never be found. I will have everything done by tomorrow night I believe.
This is very different. I'd like to see where it goes, for sure.

Okay try this one more time because watching this get eaten four times has me feeling murderous.
Mac was born in Endorian to a family not known for their treating with fiends. In an attempt to maintain their reputation. Due to being their firstborn they chose exile to execution. He was sent to Westcrown to grow up under the care of a well compensated maid. At eight the woman disappeared.
Before long young Mac was left to wander the streets when he was picked up by a charismatic half-elf brute named Kel.
Growing up in the gang taught him many skills but he preferred the art of the con. At eighteen he met a gnome named Mozan running a street side scam. Pretending to be a mark he took advantage and took the gnome for a tidy sum of money.
Mozan was impressed and hunted him down offering him a few opportunities. Impressed Mozan offered him a place as his partner in Cassomir. Mac's share of their profits was spent on a high roller's lifestyle. Now with his only a fraction of his assets left he prepares for a crime intent on building a network capable of supporting his lifestyle. Meanwhile Kel searches for the deserter.

Here we go! This is Ludvic's submission.
Lidvic’s main goal in the city at first would be to once again set up shop in the city. He would start spreading word in the underworld about his skill set at destroying, manipulating, and even changing dead bodies. Does the case of death need to appear to be a knife wound instead of poison? Or maybe a strangers body needs to be made to look like someone else so the real man can fake his own death? Ludvic is a man os imagination and takes on any job to help his client. All for the right amount of money of course. All comes second on the alter of his ambition.
Ludvic is a man looking to gain enough power and wealth to fuel his experiments into undeath and his own goals of becoming immortal through it. Ludvic himself stands at a impressive six foot two. He often dresses in very washed out colors like black, white, browns, and occasionally red when he needs to dress more professionally. He always goes out with his cane, a long black coat with numerous seen in pockets, and a top hat that he had specially made before he left galt.
I think it will be really fun to run in a solo game. Gives a lot of leeway where the story can go. It can also really pick up the pace of the story as well. I think the role playing can be a lot more rich to since there is less stress on the DM to try and find hooks for all of their characters. It might be a little hard to balance out encounters for only one person but I think it can be done very well.
Here are his stats as well. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated.

I hate to say this but do you mind re-typing this up in a Word document then cutting and pasting? Some of the sentences are disjointed and such. I can give a fairer assessment when I can see it all fairly.
Here we go! This is Ludvic's submission.
** spoiler omitted **...
Very interesting indeed. So, he is a somewhat aristocratic type (at least in his manner and habits, if not actual birth)? It is an intriguing angle, doubly so from Galt.
So at this point he is more of a man for hire then a crime leader. Do you expect to build a cadre of allies and loyalist or sticking to undead help?

By 'overthrow the city', I mean force the city guard into submission and oust the city government. If you've seen the movie The Warriors, that's the basic idea. He grew up worshiping Iomedae, training his whole life to be a paladin. Despite all his efforts, she never called him, and he left embittered by the experience. He became disillusioned with the church, with Cassomir, and with Taldor, eventually taking up Gorum as his patron deity. He values order and discipline, and sees that Taldor is suffering for a lack of it. The byzantine society is diseased and has been atrophying for years, yet those in power continue to pretend they're in the midst of a golden age. So he intends to cure the disease by cutting out the cancer.
Through the gladiatorial games he will rise in notoriety and be recruited by more powerful organizations as a head enforcer, and he'll commence building a personal army with other people's dirty money. Eventually his underworld army, with a loyalty network including other organizations, will launch an all-out war on the city guard and bring Cassomir to its knees. After establishing his own outlaw military state, his eyes will turn to Oppara, and Taldor will finally see glory again.

It is most definitely in action. He puts on the aura to garner respect but does not have noble blood. For now he is looking to gather allies and power until he can make a entrance as a crime leader. He would do this by gathering people he could trust to work under him. Any one else who tried to harm him or his allies would simply join the ranks as mindless undead. If he trusted some of the people working with him as well he would even offer them the chance of immortality through undeath as well. Even though he is neutral evil he knows that the best way to get loyalty is by protecting his underlings and rewarding them for good jobs in addition to punishments for failure or betrayal. He looks at people like he looks at undead. As tools.
The Indescribable |
Before long young Mac was left to wander the streets where after several months he joined up with a charismatic half-elf brute named Kel and his gang.
Growing up in the gang taught him many skills such as burglary, robbery, and picking pockets, but he preferred the art of the con. At eighteen he met a gnome named Mozan running a streetside scam (think three card monte). Pretending to be a mark Mac took advantage and won a tidy sum of money off the Gnome.
Mozan was impressed and hunted him down offering him a few opportunities to make some money on the side. Mac took them.
Impressed with both the professionalism and skill of Mac, Mozan offered him a place as his partner in Cassomir. Mac's share of their profits was spent on the finer things in life, such as women, wine, and luxury accommodations. Now with only a fraction of his assets left he prepares for a crime intent on building a network capable of supporting his lifestyle. Meanwhile his former gang leader Kel searches for the deserter.

After considering mechanics, I have no idea what direction would be most appropriate. Should I build like a solo fighter? Like a team leader? Take performance combat feats? It's all heavily dependent on GM preference and how the game is run. GM, I can put together a more complete backstory if you'd like and propose some possible builds, but I think I would have to hold off on the final build until we've had a better chance to talk things over.

Recruitment is closed!
Would like to thank everyone who submitted for this second time around for In the Lion's Shadow. Lots of cool ideas. Picking for a solo game is tough (and risky as one drop out kills the game, as witness last time).
I have chosen Ludvic Hearthrend as my player.
Again, thank you all and may we meet again!
Ludvic, I'll be posting in Gameplay soon!
