Xichikitte |
Xichi helps Alexos secure the crate.
So you noticed the eyes following us too? I thought they were just watching me as the locals often do.
Alexos Virden |
Alexos grins at Touchy.
Well, Touch-my-dear-y, mind pulling this to more stable ground so we can have a look-see as to what the fuss is about?
He winks conspiritorially at Xichi.
GM Baerlie |
You successfully secure the crate to stable ground. The crate is heavy, about 200lbs. You can open it with one of the tools you found before in the warehouse.
The rescued crate holds a smaller mahagony box inside, which contains five books and a few loose sheets of paper in a leather folder. The titles and subjects seem completely unrelated to each other: Practical Thaumaturgy In Accordance with Creation, Geographic Anomalies of the Inner Sea, Under Kaer Maga: A Trial and Travel, Physiology of Dragons: An Illustrated Reference, Lost Sarusan. The leather folder contains cargo manifestos, warehouse inventories, and other financial logs from a dozen different merchant houses and trade guilds.
The crate also contains 10 sets of masterwork thieves’ tools, three flasks of alchemist’s fire, a flask of acid, a dozen jars of various inks, a footprint book, adamantine weapon blanch, three bags of powder, a deck of marked cards, and two sets of average loaded dice.
Alexos Virden |
Taking a look at the various nick-knacks not specifically requested from their employer, Alexos is a tad disappointed again.
Well, guess I won't be getting any discount bargains on bookbags or journals he says with a sigh.
He grabs the vials of ink, however... as well as the footprint book.
Well, at least I won't have to buy ink for writing for a bit. And you never know when a book might come in handy... even one like this for tracking.
He sticks the book with the contract and map in the insides of his robes, but the vials of ink he ties to his belt using a bit of the rope that was lying around. He then leaves the rest of the treasure to his companions.
Kraak Sharpbeak |
Kraak lovingly strokes the weapon blanch and one set of masterwork tools. He would also like one flask of a. fire, but he is not greedy.
Xichikitte |
Xichi will take any and all books that someone else doesn't claim, in addition to a flask of alchemist's fire and a bag of powder.
Touchy |
"There see," Touchy says, as they withdraw the small mahogany chest with the books and papers they came for. "Much more portable."
The dwarf does not take anything at all from the chest.
"Can we get back to curio shop now?" He adds. "Give Karela his damn books, and be done running errands?"
As if to punctuate his point, he goes back to the warehouse entrance to see if any 'authorities' are even now, descending on their position.
Alexos Virden |
The books are the item we came to retrieve for Karela, along with the papers Xichi. If you grab them it will pretty much be to just carry them in the same way that I am carrying those contracts or Touchy is carrying the box from the Paracountess... and now the chest.
Alexos also goes to the entrance to see if anyone is attempting to sneak up on their position or is hiding at the end of the pier watching them.
Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
If there is anything out there planning on attacking, I will find it.
Alexos Virden |
Shaking his head, muttering about the foolhardiness of dwarves, Alexos tosses the remaining treasure from the box to Nixie... except one of the alchemist fires that he hands to Kraak, who was eyeing it earlier.
Gave the rest to Nixie that way because not sure if she is still with us or not... give her last discussion post. Seems like we are pretty much done though, so might not matter to much.
Alexos Virden |
Figures, but had to ask.
After helping to distribute the remaining gear, Alexos heads onto the docks after Touchy.
Time to bring this back, but make sure that you keep your eyes open this time Touchy. I am not being paranoid, someone is following us.
Kraak Sharpbeak |
aye lets get this mother home
Kraak Sharpbeak |
Kraak looks around."Thiss iss it? We are done... Then letss return to the Lodge to get our reward!"
Alexos Virden |
No problem, Master Karela. However, your friend might want to invest in some pest controls... and maybe some repairs, given the condition of the warehouse.
Alexos gestures to the bandage on his leg for emphasis.
Also, would you want some of this ink? I don't think I will need all of it myself, save maybe 2 vials. If you think you can use the other ten I will happily leave them here for you.
Alexos smiles and turns to his companions.
Well, the only thing remaining is to get the box and these documents back to the society. Shall we?

You leave the shop and head back to the Grand Lodge headquarter.
A throng of people blocks the street ahead. A performance art group commandeers the street, drawing graffiti to create a jolly hellscape complete with illusory devils comically dancing around in circles. A few citizens avoiding the crowd slip off-street through a nearby alley, the only egress past the gathering.
Since leaving the Grand Lodge this morning, four unscrupulous, fledgling adventurers followed you throughout the day, shadowing them on their tasks. The adventurers are simply looking for an easy payout, knowing Pathfinders often have excellent gear, good coin, and frequently carry important items and documents from place to place in town. Weaving through back allies and busy streets, the gang members place themselves in front of you, hoping to herd you into an advantageous position.
Alexos and Nixie recognize the gang members. It's the same faces they saw several times today. The already know what's going on before the others do and act fast.
Surprise Round
Alexos
Nixie
Map updated, movement is possible within the blue border, everywhere else is walls or roof (unless you want to climb up to the roof).
Nixie |
Bouncing up on the roof seems like a good idea to Nixie.acro: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24. Then it's sneak time. If she has any move left after climbing/jumping she moves east. She's gonna plop down right on one of these thug's heads...but which one she hasn't decided yet:) shneakums.: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Alexos Virden |
Alexos spots the same faces he has been seeing all day, finally recognizing their hostile intent. They, however, haven't realized he has been seeing them yet. Time to have some fun!
You see, dwarf? Hostiles finally found us. Told you I wasn't paranoid.
Alexos moves to the closest thug and attempts to smash his face in.
I am a tad shaky on rules for surprise rounds... I think you can attack, but if I am wrong let me know.
Unarmed Attack: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 131d8 ⇒ 3
Next time be a bit better at sneaking, thugs!
Alexos yells while trying to connect with his fist.
Touchy |
You climb at 1/4 your base speed Nix, unless you do an accelerated climb, which imparts a -5 penalty, and allows you to move at half speed
So depends entirely on how high up the roof is. =)
Alexos: surprise round, you are limited to a single standard action
So you could move, or attack, but not both.
And I imagine our adversaries there get to go during the surprise round as well, as they were waiting for us =)
Alexos Virden |
hm... given that then I want to take position in front of the bald woman in front, so that her elf buddy can't attack me off the bat... would move my piece but the browser here at work doesn't allow editing.
Alexos, saying the above, strategically takes position in front of the ugly bald lady who has been shadowing them.

Ok, because I couldn't find your HP in the profile. If I miss the critical hit, it's deals only normal damage. Sorry Alexos :( Does somebody have a wand of CLW?
With 0 HP you are disabled (staggered), you can do either a move action or a standard action, no full-round actions but you can still withdraw from your position (up to your speed I think, because of restricted withdraw).
Nixie |
Nixie can CLW but it's a touch. *gasp* Alexos! She deftly scampers across the tiled roofs and backflips down. 30ft move then lays her hands on his back as he stands swaying before their enemies. CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8 To the bastards attacking them: What do you want? I'll give you anything just leave us alone!
GM Baerlie |
Nixie, you can also wait for Alexos to move back, he still has his turn for this round. At least you both are not threatened. But it's only a suggestion ;)
"Anything? Really? We want all your stuff and all your money! Including the documents and items you are carrying for the Society!" the bold woman says. She's the gang leader.
EvilMinion |
Ya, running up to the enemy alone is not always a good plan.
And Kraak, you're waiting to parry something when you're at the back of the group, that's not going to come up =)
Alexos seems to be missing his favored class bonus as well... he didn't take the skill point, and don't think he took the elven +1 to move, so it could be in hit points as well (given his poor con, not a bad idea)
GM: could we get an idea of what we're facing here? (description-wise)
GM Baerlie |
You are facing a gang of four greedy girls and guys who want to steal your money and equipment. They think Pathfinders have a lot of expensive stuff (they are being paid well fore every adventure). They also want to steal the stuff you are about to take back to the Society, because if the Society wants it, it's probably worth much more to somebody else.
Kraak Sharpbeak |
can not see the map on my cellphone. Sorry well he will move forward to be closer to the action.
GM Baerlie |
Ah, I understand and sorry :D
Deandre Dulay (bold woman) is a level 1 cleric of Norgorber. She's equipped with a short sword, a dagger, a chain shirt and an unholy symbol. Her Domains are evil and trickery.
Halli Fosta (dark-haired woman) is a level 1 sorceress. She's equipped with a dagger and a light crossbow. No special armour. Her bloodline is Aberrant.
Larkin Weaver (pirate) is a level 1 rogue. He's equipped with a rapier, a dagger and also a chain shirt and a small Hand puppet representing Lord Gyr.
Ledford (halfling) is a level 1 barbarian. He's equipped with a chainshirt and a greataxe and a bottle of whiskey.
They have potions or wands of cure light wounds.
Kraak Sharpbeak |
There is just one more thing to know. They are already dead. They just don´t know it yet! I will transfer my feelings that I got after talking with my egocentric wicked neighbour to those 4.
Alexos Virden |
Favored class bonus would give me how many hp? Sorry for not getting my hp and hd on my profile, it is under combat tab now. Assuming I get an extra one I think I will punch the rapier guy who stabbed me and move back to be covered by my friends... if not, then I will just limp back and try not to bleed too much. Sorry about the delay too, work is kinda hectic today.
Touchy |
Not if you use a withdraw action. (The first square of movement is safe then). If they had reach weapons, it might still be an issue, but they don't appear to.
Alexos Virden |
Gotcha, thanks all... sorry I am still kinda new with regards to some of these things.
The rapier pierces Alexos through the chest, popping out his back side with a sickening crimson tip.
ARRAGHAAAHH-<cough>-HAHAHHARGH!!!!
Alexos screams in pain as the rapier pierces his lung... no small amount of blood getting coughed up. As it is removed he barely keeps concious enough to withdraw closer to his companions.
<COUgh><coUGh> Serves me <cough> right I suppose. Blasted thugs... Give me a minute and face me one at a time <cough><COUGH> and I'll-
He is trying to be brash for his companions' sake more than anything else. Inside he knows that if he doesn't get aid he will die.
Again, can't move my piece at work, but thinking he would go toward where Touchy is, so that he could heal him if needed. He would assume that Nixie would still be planning on jumping down on them
GM Baerlie |
No worries, we all learn how it's working :D I put Nixie and Alexos back. It's not an obscure rule, it's the turn order. First Alexos (who decided to move back), then Lendford and Fosta and then it's your turn.
Alexos moves back to his companions, hoping for help. In the meantime Ledford and Fosta act. Fosta draws her crossbow and loads it with a bolt. Ledford comes closer to you, raises his greataxe and goes into total defense.
