Kast, spurred by a perfect spark of insight, prepares to do battle upon the Altar. Simon backs away, while Chrystosm joins Kast in his preparations.
Not willing to wait, Othoe orients his flaming sphere upon the alter, setting the edge of the orifice on top ablaze.
Kimi, continues carrying Tyran to safety, while Javros gathers Hollin off of Othoe and, stumbling under the larger boy's weight, moves him towards the hall.

Dorial still has a turn from Round 5, but otherwise, begin round 6

Round 6
Simon stays attentive as the warriors smash the altar, ready to heal his companions should the altar strike back.
ready action to cast CLW as needed, do Hollin or Tyran still require any healing, or did Edgrin take care of that?
GM_Verdigris |
Hollin is stable, but unconscious. Tyran still needs healing, but is stable. He too is unconscious.
GM_Verdigris |
Round 5, Dorial, sets her flaming sphere against the altar.
round 6
We await Chrystosm, Nimeon, and Kast
GM_Verdigris |
Chrystosm prepares to attack the Altar with Kast. Simon prepares for what might come. Nimeon begins herding the children out of the way. Kast, along with Chrystosm, attacks the flaming Altar.
At the first strike of the weapons, chips begin to fall from the stone, blood seeping from the wounds. The flaming spheres on top flash higher, as bits of the stone alight.
A high pitched keening echoes from the tiny orifice on top. Higher and higher goes the pitch, until the very rock begins to shudder and crack, revealing the bloody fleshy inside that bursts, flooding the chamber.
Edgrin takes a bit of stone to cheek and screams, as it burns as much as it cuts.
"Run!"

Othoe, not liking the look of the altar, calls the children to him and vacates the room… quickly. I'm assuming all he'll manage is a single move as he herds the kids before him out of the room. He's pushy, but not so much that the children fall and slow things down even more.
"Children, come with me! It's time to go, Now!"
I didn't move any marker but my own on the map, but Othoe is pretty insistent that the children come with him.

Round 6 summary
chrystosm readies to attack with Kast. Simon heals Tyran (?), Nimeon begins herding the children to safety. Kast joins Chrystosm and attacks the stone altar. Dorial burns the Altar with her flaming sphere. Othoe, his sphere extinguished, joins Nimeon in herding the children out. The children, with the weight of the people they are "carrying" (some would say dragging) out, only make it to the entrance.
The Altar begins to come apart, throwing bits of burning stone out into the room, revealing a fleshy inside that then bursts, beginning to flood the room with blood, pus, and things better left unsaid.

please return to the current round and Simon? Ick! ;)
Kast Phaer |
Kast covers his face from the initial tremors and explosions.
That's pretty perfect, I could watch this all day...if it wasn't going to kill me or others. Every time an evil altar is destroyed, a hero gets his wings.
Kast takes a few steps back towards his fleeing party, stowing his pick.
"Yep, let's go!" Kast will grab the elf in one hand, a whomever else is unconscious in this other hand, and begin to drag/carry them as fast as his limpy leg will take him...which, as it turns out is pretty fast for a gimp. Kast doesn't seem to be slowed by the additional weight at all. You probably wouldn't understand why...it's pretty sophisticatedly hot hero stuff, after all.
"Let's move! GO GO GO!!"
GM_Verdigris |
Javros stops in his tracks, then looks back at Nimeon, "But...Jurin isn't here! The goat man took him! We never did find the goat man." Looking far older than his years, he turns back and begins to run once more.
The others, Dorial included, run for the exit!
GM_Verdigris |
Nimeom turns back to the expanding destruction, realizing that this lead to Jurin is a bust. Another large chunk falls into the rapidly expanding hole in the floor and large cracks shoot outward. The expanding pool of blood and gore begins to recede into the ground.
A single tear rolling down his cheek, Nimeon runs.
GM_Verdigris |
The ground shudders beneath their feet, the entire cavern eventually collapsing behind them. Vreggma meets them as they exit just ahead of the rubble that fills the tunnel. Dressed in all of her shiny good goods, still, she does not looked pleased.
"What have you done?!My crown is gone! My temple is gone! You are not good people. You are pink skin destroyers! You give me back crown!" Behind her, a rag tag group of survivors fan out behind her in the kings, err, queens throne room.
Hollin is conscious now, as are all of the children and Tyran. and at least for now, you are out of initiative.
Simon Shrewsbury |
"You have no crown and you have no temple and if you don't give us the other child then you won't have your life either." Simon threatens the queen without a crown.

Chrystosm |
"You other kobolds, follow not this false queen, we liberated Kibbo and we'll liberate you as well. Help us find the child and we'll grant you freedom."
"You're now free - free from Old Glintaxe! Free from the beast in the forge! We helped, we helped again, and we can help some more! Surely there's no need for anyone else to perish?"
Diplomacy: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
It's Friday, Friday (for me), natural 20s day, natural 20s day. JINXJINXJINXJINXJINX!!

"You have no crown and you have no temple and if you don't give us the other child then you won't have your life either." Simon threatens the queen without a crown.
"You other kobolds, follow not this false queen, we liberated Kibbo and we'll liberate you as well. Help us find the child and we'll grant you freedom."
"What Child? You have pinkskins! All pinkskins we..."
Exhorted by Simon and Chrystosm, the other kobolds attack Vreggma. Do you guys do anything to stop them?

Othoe is pleased the kobolds are rising up, and he helps them - shooting a Force Missile at Vreggma, hopefully at an inopportune time.
Force Missile: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Nimeon |
Aware that a child almost died because of Vreggma's delay, Nimeon does nothing to stop the horde.
"We must find that satyr and the last child."
GMAA, where did we last see the trail for Jurin?
GM_Verdigris |
Kast tries to push past Vreggma as Othoe's force missile pushes the mob of kobolds over the edge. They attack, the warriors in the crowd striking hard and fast.

edit: Crit conf on Vreggmakobold attack on Vreggma: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 111d6 ⇒ 3
Kibbo tries to come to her aid, poor fool that he is, and is struck down, as well. He cries out to the "great liberators" for help, saying, "No more little pinkskins. No more...please..."
Unfortunately, there is no trail for Jurin. The goat man disappeared with him as he went through the wall back at town. The other children, while, their hearts were in the right place, were confused by the whole planes aspect of the disappearance. While there were child lures in the woods, they were the werewolfling's.
GM_Verdigris |
The party is able to leave the melee behind them, escorting the children back to the main cavern.
Now empty, the space (rm 30 on the map) opens out in from the party. There are no kobolds in sight. On the far side of the room, Nimeon and Dorial are just able to make out a second entrance that goes south.
Kast Phaer |
"To town, my friends, we must get the children to safety."
Kast stops up short at Simon's words.
"Town? You think they'll be safe there? Wow," Kast marvels and Simon's naivete, but keeps walking. "Nothing but evil has befallen the town since we arrived."
Maybe all this is our fault. Maybe to save the town, we need to leave the town. And Fleur.
Chrystosm |
Chrystosm, while cheering on the attack on Vreggma:
"No Gods, no masters!"
Makes a futile attempt to aid poor Kibbo as the mob turns on her. Unwilling to face down a mob of frenzied kobolds after that, he races off to join the others, feeling a bit sick.
I know they're only kobolds, but still. Ugh.
GM_Verdigris |
"No Gods! No Masters!" says a bemused Hollin on the way out.
He falls in line with the others as they take tunnel two out of the main tunnel. the tunnel that the superstitious kobolds have marked with big red X's(the one to 28) has tumbled closed very recently. Three very dead kobolds are partially buried in the rubble that blocks off this exit.
tunnel 1 or tunnel 2: 1d2 ⇒ 2
The tunnel east, the one taken by the sneaky kobolds that ambushed the companions from behind has similarly collapsed.
To the south, the tunnel widens, and steps lead up to the slurk kennel. A single slurk lurks here, his master still glued to his back, though very much dead as well.
Othoe |
"Let us make our way out of this rat maze shall we? I think we've found all the children to be found down here." he's careful not to meet Nimeon's gaze.
I wonder where that child is if not here? Very strange. I must have missed something. Or he was sacrificed and disposed of before our arrival. Othoe shudders briefly.
Othoe is more content now that there are people to handle the children we did save, pays more attention to the tunnels and any kobolds that might still have ill-feelings toward the group. He pushes the party to the exit.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26
GM_Verdigris |
The trail to the left leads into a large mining area. several dead slave kobolds lay pushed off to the side. With just enough bracing to keep the ceiling from caving in on itself, the mining area remains usable. Moving through the area, Kimi picks up an abandoned mining helmet, the light on the front winking on as it settles into place. There are two exits, one to the south, and one to the west.
Nimeon |
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
Nimeon keeps his own counsel as the group makes their way out. He is clearly dwelling on the possibility that they have missed something vital.
