Dorial's windblast knocks down both of the little slave kobolds in front of her, bringing real fear into their eyes.

Once again, Lekmek and the king nearly drop their weapons, but take the pain rather than give them up. The King barks at lekmek and the burly kobold moves, cutting off Kast's exit. The King moves as well, stepping up to the Warrior and swinging once more.

Othoe looks around him. I'm the rear guard all right. This is NOT good. He launches another Magic Missile w/ Toppling Spell at his foes.

Othoe looks grim as his magics fail him. He considers calling for help, but he knows from the sounds of combat that the front is still engaged. He trudges on, digging in with his dagger at the ready, blocking any attacks past him to the children beyond. He reflexively tries to adjust the wig he no longer wears.

Any spell with an attack roll can crit on a natural 20 (barring improved crit) :)

Simon can't reach anyone from where he is right now (and welcome back! We missed you. You can move to help Othoe guard the children, but you will provoke an attack of opp, as there isn't anyplace where you can stand. If you moev somewhere where you can touch them with touch of flame (melee touch attack), then yes, you can take both attacks.

Simon comes out of his fugue and funnels a shout to shatter eardrums at the creatures attacking Othoe. The two on foot are quick and able to shield their ears enough, but the one on slurkback is stunned by the sudden deafening noise.

Chrystosm tries to move behind Lekmek, but Lekmek gets a surprisingly swift attack, knocking Chrystosm back to where he started.moved Chrystosm as he failed the acrobatics check.

The weapons continue to burn in the hands of Lekmek and the King. Another 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8 fire damage unless dropped.

Taking the opportunity with both kobolds laying on the floor before her and taking a step back if needed to avoid any AOO, Dorial launches a sphere of flame at the King.

The King laughs, nimbly dancing around the sphere. Smoke curls up from his clawed hands from the heat of the metal.

He takes another swipe at the Sacrifice in front of him.

Kings attack on Kast: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 301d8 + 14 ⇒ (4) + 14 = 18

He barks something at the prone kobolds on the ground, then grins at Kast.

"You should yield! We will feast you as a proper sacrifice with high honors."

Lekmek grimaces and nearly drops his weapon, but whatever the King barked at the slaves on ground has a heartening effect on Lekmek's reserve. Still, with so little progress on Kast, he instead turns his attention on Chrystosm, swinging at his head, but misses by a decent margin.

Kast reels from the blow from the king, wobbly on his twisted left leg. HP 7/47

Kast grunts as he 5' teeters into the square emptied by Chrystosm, finding room to swing the Quill again at the King.

Simon rushes past Othoe, the stunned froggie rider, and the leering kobolds, using his agility to avoid provoking an attack from the latter. Moving out into the chamber, he holds out his hands and burbles sending a wave of flame washing over the foes.

Othoe casts as well, sending violent missiles of force at the same targets. K5, and k6 fall where they stand, while KR4 smokes from atop his very dead steed. The rear guard is safe for the moment.

Meanwhile, at the front of the tunnel,

Nimeon charges into the room, hoping to help Kast. A bloodied, leering, jeering Medium sized Kobold wearing an ornate crown faces off against the erstwhile hero from across the room.

Chrystosm slides through Lekmek's legs, surprising the burly little goblin, but is unable to connect with his blow.

Kast reels from the blow from the King, nearly toppling on his bad side. He quickly makes a 5' step and slams the mighty quill into the King, nearly cleaving in two. Moaning and gurgling, the king begins to shrink.

Seeing the King fall, the two slaves and Lekmek hold up their hands and slink smaller, a universal sign of surrender.

and you are out of initiative.

"A little help for Javros? Who has the wand, one of our charges got a little too close to the action and caught a blow. Thanks Simon for the fire. I do like a little fire." Othoe grins.

He then checks on the waif to make sure he's OK.
"Now remember, you need to stay inside the party for safety."


Hearing the cry for a wand, Dorial makes her way through the tight tunnel to join the rear guard.

She draws it off her belt, "Here we are."

Once she's certain that Javros is safe, she'll return back to the front to check on the hero. "Kast, your wounds looks severe. Let's get you patched up quickly."

Simon tends to the children as his fear fades and his voice returns. "Little ones, you must let us adults fight the mean creatures and keep you safe."

Joining the rest of the group, Simon blanches at the deposed king and his cowering minion. "You green scaled kobolds, do you know Kibbo?

Kast uses the Iron Quill for support as his breathing labors and blood flows. He stares at his fallen foe, barely noticing the ministrations of Dorial.

"Thank you for teaching me about battle, 'King'. I have learned much and you have sent me on a path to perfection."

With that, he coup de quills the 'King', ending his evil forever.

When Dorial's healing takes effect, Kast raises his eyes to Dorial's and smiles.

"Soldiers bleed. And some soldiers win," Kast says. "Come, we should clean up here and get these children to safety."

Kast will ask for a few more hits of the wand.

Javros, on the very verge of death just a few moments ago, heals beneath the magic of the wand.

"Othoe?" he says quietly. "Did we get them? Where's Hollin?"

The rest of the kobolds shake their heads as Simon talks, and after a moment, it's clear that they don't speak common, not even Lekmek. Looking around for Kibbo, it also becomes clear that he's slipped off somewhere.

Simon looks to his companions for help, "Where did Kibbo go? Snuck off he did, can anyone talk to these kobolds? The green ones might tell us where Hollin is being kept?"

Chrystosm scratches his head with his handaxe, remembering just in time to turn it around and use the blunt side.

"We need to find Hollin"

He looks around vaguely for clues

Frustrated that the King fell before tasting Erastil's vengeance, Nimeon takes a moment to remember that paladins are not allowed to torture captives for information. Focusing on his own skills he searches the room for clues.

Nimeon's sharp ears pick up the faint sounds of koboldic conversation down the tunnel to the east. Moving closer, he finds kibbo, on his knees before a jewel draped female kobold. Looking up as she senses Nimeon, she brushes right past him to Nimeon, batting her eyes, and swaying her tail.

"You big king now, sexy huu-man?"

She blinks, then her mouth widens. At first it seems a growl, or threat to bite, but her tone puts a smile in it, almost a simper.

"Maybe we die together, just a little, hmmm big king slayer?" She doesn't stop, but slows to an even slower, slinkier motion. "If you want children, we can have children. We even have nursery, so not so big a deal."

Seeing Javros healed, Othoe turns his attention to the kobolds in custody and begins to hiss and spit.

Draconic:
"Now, before we slay you... slowly... tell me, where are the other human children? They look like this one"
He gestures to Javros.

No sorry, I just didn't want you guys to be waiting for me. You've got all the time in the world, unless Nimeon finishes with Vreggma too soon.

Lekmek spits at Othoe's feet, but the other kobolds answer him, moving to put a distance between Lekmek and themselves with at least one of the heroes in between them.

children?pinkskins? Down the tunnel, waiting on the altar. Soon Soon. Maybe not so soon now with King dead.

Othoe instinctively reaches out and slaps Lekmek across the face. But he got what he wanted, and tells the others.

"The kobold says the children are on the alter awaiting sacrifice. Through here." he points down the tunnel past Nimeon.

Othoe too (if there's still time) will cast Detect Magic and look for wealth along with Kast (who's been doing it a while longer).

Turning his gaze to the other area radiating as well, Lekmek's heavy pick also appears to be magical.

These are probably the wealthiest kobolds ever. The king shines with magic, and his spitting henchman also wields, or rather, wielded, (since I assume you took it away from him), a magical weapon.

Chrystosm shields his eyes, dazzled by the bling encrusting his recently defeated foes, then pricks up his ears at the faint sounds emanating from the sacrificial chamber.

"Through there?", he asks, in reply to Othoe. "Children?"

Still blinking slightly, he turns and lopes off in the direction of the whimpers.

"Anyone else coming?"

Vreggma tries one more time to interest Nimeon in a little walk on the wild side, but then steps back and tips her head, her gaze narrowed and appraising.

"I show you children, you leave all my shinies? Go away and make me Queen?"

From up ahead, comes the sound of chanting, and beneath a whisper of a familiar voice.

The young would be warrior, Hollin talks to someone else as a kobold continues chanting. "I-I-I'm not worried. Kimi will find Chrysto, and HE will come save us."

Kast grabs the crown and the all the magic (including Lekmek's pick) and grumbles.

"This place is like the kobold Falcon's Hollow...more and more twisted and evil the more one looks at it."

Kast holds the Iron Quill and looks at Lekmek, pondering how to most perfectly end the kobold and possibly this entire evil tribe.

Kast does some deep breathing to calm and center his thoughts...and to avoid flying into a righteous rage and slaying the entire tribe.

Instead, he follows Nimeon and trusts the halfelf to keep things calm.

"Coming Chrysto!" Kast limps along.

Nimeon barely contains a snarl as he resists the urge to feather the kobold.

"You show us to the children and allow us to leave here with all of the humans you've taken and you can make yourself Queen."

Unable to make anything specific out, Chrystosm drops into a crouch and pads down the corridor towards the noises, looking back in the faint hope that someone else has decided to come with him and feeling a bit better once he sees Kast's silhouette looming up behind.

Simon runs with Chrystosm as he springs after the missing child. Speech already escapes him again as the tension mounts.

Vreggma pouts, preens and sways back the way she came, then points down the tunnel.

Chrystosm pads down the tunnel, stopping in the shadows where he might view the room unseen.

Dominated by a gruesome blood stained altar, the room is otherwise unadorned. Tied upon the altar, Tyran Moonsliver lays adorned in elaborate symbols and little else. Next to him, similarly clad, but bound hand to foot, lays a quietly defiant Hollin.

An gray scaled kobold, chants and chortles as he draws the same symbols in the air above the victims as he cavorts around the altar, two acolytes following his actions as he does so.

Looking up at the sounds coming from behind the doorway, he stops, plunging the blade into Tyran's chest.
