Wow, Simon! Way to pull out the stubborn streak! *lol* I knew I shouldn't have said "plant pansy" as soon as I sent it.
GM_Verdigris |
So, the shooter disappeared into the trees. I'm not sure, (hence opening up discussion), but I think to shoot him (prior to him moving) it would be a perception check vs his stealth roll? Please weigh in. But at the beginning of round 3, he is hiding in the trees.
Dorial |
Hey all. Spoke with GM AA and I've got a question for everyone. Dorial has the ability to bull rush at range and I was wondering how everyone felt about her using it on their characters to get them out of flanks, a few steps closer to the enemy, etc. I know it sounds a little gimicky but she's got a lot of uses a day and not very many enemies to use them on. Just wanted y'alls feed back. If she needs to bring it up in character first that's fine.
GM_Verdigris |
Just a few details:
"Wind Blast (Su): As a standard action, you can unleash a blast of air in a 30-foot line. Make a combat maneuver check against each creature in the line, using your caster level as your base attack bonus and your Wisdom modifier in place of your Strength modifier. Treat the results as a bull rush attempt. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier."
My thought is that if she uses this on an ally, it shouldn't be something they can voluntarily fail at. In other words, she still rolls against their CMD, and then if they fail, they move. Correspondingly, if they fail by more than 5, per the bullrush maneuver text, they are pushed 5 more feet, whether she or they wanted to be or not. I don't see a lot of control built into this for Dorial, so too much success could be as bad or worse than too little.
I'm not saying no, but I want to hear what everyone else feels about it being used like this. I think it has a lot of potential to add some fun flavor, but it could make things a little more unpredictable.
GM_Verdigris |
I believe in giving fair warning, so with that in mind, I will probably post little, if at all after Thursday noon. I am off to PacifiCon, and as is my nature, I have to be there first, or at least the night before it starts. I aim to surface Monday night, but if you don't see me then, Tuesday morning.
Until then, though, I'll be here.
GM_Verdigris |
Lost home nework. Will update tomorrow morning or if I get access back in the next hour (gone for the day after that).
GM_Verdigris |
a (very) rough summary as we end day 3:
Day 1: dog at the lumber yard , visit to graveyard, Twigzystril Zap Caprice
Day 2: Laurel, spider at laurel’s, Clean the well, meet with Kreed, lumber camp, peskies, find Llwynally, hunter’s camp,
Day 3: Witches cottage, droskar ruins, spider in the tower, dwarven skeleton, Dorial wanders off. Kobold gets away, kobold has a friend, wolves (2) at the door., study the Library, find the chapel, darkmantel’s attack.

I was working on this morning's post and just got more and more sad.
as far as I can tell, Othoe can target the creature and not hit Simon. So, while it doesn't make sense and makes me a little sad, Simon isn't unconscious.
However, from this point forward, I would like fully grappled combatants(combatants that both retain the grappled condition) to be targeted as if sharing the same square by area of effect spells. An opponent that is only being held with one part of the body (grab ability allows a grappler to take -20 to their CMB check to retain the grapple while not being grappled themselves.) would still be targeted normally.
what do you think, does that make sense?
Simon Shrewsbury |
They aren't so much 'rules' as they are 'guidelines', so I'm perfectly ok with Simon sporting bright colors looking like Varisian gypsy and slumping unconscious in the coils of the 'Squirrel King'.
GM_Verdigris |
Welcome to the end of Act 1. I want to take a couple/few days to set a good foundation for Act 2.
1. Please fill out this survey and think about what you want for your individual characters in this game.
2. Treasure sheet. I'm going to be getting it updated so you guys can think about selling things and distribution. I do have some questions regarding a few things (like the dogtags) as far as what you took, what you left, etc.
3. Questions, concerns, suggestions. Hit me with them, I can take it.
4. Finally, and most importantly, please level to 2.
Othoe |
My training is fairly straight-forward. I'll get my alias updated in a bit.
NEXT LEVEL (2) (Wizard (evocation) 2)
+5 HP (+4 base, +1 con)
+1 BAB
+1 Will Save
+1 Cantrip per day (typically Spark)
+1 First Level Spell per day (Typically Magic Missle w/ Toppling Spell)
+2 new spells (Burning Hands, Comprehend Languages)
+6 Skills (Diplomacy, Fly, Know(Arcana), Spellcraft, Perception, Linguistics(Celestial))
As far as loot goes, Othoe would like to see everything liquidated that we're not actually going to use of course. There's not anything on the list that Othoe wants I think.
Presuming no down time between acts, do I get my new memorized spells now, or should I wait for my next rest time?
Dorial |
"Borrowing" your layout again Othoe!
NEXT LEVEL (2) (Druid 2)
+7 HP (+5 base, +2 con)
+1 BAB
+1 Will Save
+1 Fort Save
+1 Orison per day
+1 First Level Spell per day

+ Woodland Stride

Next rest period.
Simon Shrewsbury |
Simon will want to keep Llwynally. And the Witch fetishes. The puppy can be parted with provided he receives the right convincing. Old Bones still needs to be buried properly (do I smell a post-Falcon's Hollow adventure?)
We should keep the masterwork items, or trade them across for masterwork items for our front line guys.
Simon will take a level in Witch per the bargain made in the hut to free Kast from the Cauldron, Llwynally will be his familiar. Update in the next day or two.
I want to thank all of you for one of the best adventures I've been in for years, I've been having a great time with this campaign!
My posting has been a bit slow lately and may continue to be a bit slow as we deal with my wife's breast cancer. The surgery was successful, the follow up test results positive, and she had her first chemotherapy session today, so we're on the road of healing. I will remain in this game, I've no intention of dropping, and I look forward to our continued adventures!
Kast Phaer |
Kast:
Phalanx Soldier 1
+8 hp: (+6 base, +2 con)
Feat: Weapon Focus (???)
Skills 5: (+2 base, +1 human, +1 fc, +1 Int)
+1 Diplomacy
+1 Climb
+1 Know (Religion)
+1 Know (Nature)
+1 Know (Planes)
+1 BAB
+2 Fort

Oh no! No worries, Simon. Take care of the important stuff...and we'll love your posting when you can.
Your wife will be in my thoughts.
GM_Verdigris |
I'm so glad the surgery was successful. I'll keep sending good thoughts for all of you, and look forward to whatever postings you can do, as you can do them.
Simon Shrewsbury |
Your wife will be in my thoughts.
Can't say that I've ever been thankful to hear another man say those words, but in this case, well, Thanks!
Thanks to everyone for the kind words! Hope is our mantra, it's one of the most powerful tools available to mankind.

Thanks, everyone for filling out the survey and for being patient. I know I said a couple to a few days of down time, but instead I'd like to enter a few days in town, shopping and such. This will be heavy on the role play, and a perfect opportunity to explore things with your characters. Please ping, email, or message me if you have specific things you would like to work on.
Don't worry, I expect some new calamity will befall the people of Falcon's Hollow shortly. The signs point to... next week or so.
GM_Verdigris |
I have tried to give everyone access to the loot document, please look carefully and see if there is anything your character might want before the selling commences sometime this weekend or Monday at the latest.
Nimeon |
Sounds fine to me. Nimeon will search out the kin of the elf whose bow he wields to return it to them at an appropriate time. Specifically after he's had a masterwork composite longbow crafted that fits his needs.
Kast Phaer |
Chrysto, I think it should be you for the time being.
Kast is definitely going reach weaponry and Nim is going ranged.
Or we can sell it...I'm sure we'll find more magics as we go.
GM_Verdigris |
This town is a small one...it generally has most non- magical goods up to a 1000 gp limit. Magic items of this amount or less can usually be ordered with a quick turn around. edit: simplified
If you want to order something in particular, ask the shopkeeper or blacksmith. We'll work it out. Otherwise, list whatever personal items you buy/sell in this OOC thread.
Kast Phaer |
Excellent. Does anyone want to pool monies to buy/order a wand of CLW? It's usually a pretty good first buy. Otherwise Kast is relying on a choice between a crazy cauldron guy and a 'gnome' with ties to Hell for his healing.
125gp from each of us?
9 gp Kast's leftover starting gp
+529 gp Loot, Act 1
+6.5 gp Sell old dagger, rope, CI Longspear
------------
544.5 gp
-125 wand CLW
-329 MW Cold Iron Bardiche
------------
90 gp
Othoe |
I support buying a wand of CLW. Nobody wants my healing (sigh) and it's unfair to force Simon to ONLY cast healing.
2gp Othoe's leftover starting gp
+529 Loot Act 1
-----
531 gp
-125gp Wand CLW
-200gp Ink for scrolls
-----
206gp left over.
Othoe is happy to lend money to anyone who needs it to get MW weapons or whatever.
