male Halfling rogue 6

i thot we had decided for ambushes and gm said place yourselves on the map

Female Human Monk 7

1 person posted that we should ambush at the edge of town.
I got the quantity of animals seen clarified then suggested we attempt to pick some off earlier.

There has been no discussion.
Edelle, Sumatek and Casvian have probably spent ~3 seconds from when we saw the animals leaving the cave thinking about what to do. And by thinking I am referring to those three statements I mentioned above.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

We could try to climb, but i kind of like the idea of standing on the roofs or on the balcony and picking them off as they mill about in the street. Most of the town has barricaded themselves, so it will be like a shooting gallery.

male Halfling rogue 6

my actions have been stated I'll let them play out as they will.

Alright. I'm still waiting for Initiatives and/or locations and/or actions for Teriwynth, Edelle, and Alric

Right now I have:
Sumatek-Init 27, hiding at (N, 116)
Teriwynth-Init 23, Casting bull's strength on Edelle from (X?, Y?)
Casvian-Init ?, Hiding at (X?, Y?)
Edelle- Init ?, Running up to the beasts (X?, Y?)
Alric- Init ?, Climbing? (X?, Y?)

If I can get on a building i'll do that but if not just on the road at M-106

Climb DC for the building is 20.

First suggestion in wins with no discussion, nice.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

I think we all wanted the top of the buildings, but not many of use have the climb skills to make the check. Even with a rope I am hard pressed so now I am trying to shoot out of a high story window if I can get to one. Barring that I will fight from the ground.

Which building am I in?

I placed you at L120. You can pick either window. (updated to show)

I really need to get a better map tool

Google docs works. That is what I use for my pbp. I just update it(the map), and they can check it when they want. map for my game

It stops me from having to upload a new file every time.

Poetry is A-OK, Teriwynth. Thanks for checking in. Nice Poem btw.

QFT: google docs I never have to hunt around for, I always know where they are :)

Female Human Monk 7

And you never forget to update the map that way ..............

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

Am I going to get to attack someone before the end of the fight. If not I might move to a less safe position.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

you're an archer fighting enemys coming from a big open field while you have a tall vantage point to stand on. You should be all over this fight!

Female Human Monk 7

I'm quiet interested in where the cat is so I can plan my turn.

Sorry for the delay everyone. No internet at home so I have to drag my laptop around town and steal someone's wifi. Anyways, I have decided that, after this combat finishes, I will switch to google documents permanently. That said, the latest itteration of this map is now up for viewing. I've noted lit areas. Which have bright light. Dim light is beyond that, but there is still nothing to be seen. Those with Low-light vision note a number of other cats running up through the tall grass.

To address Casvian's point: I have been very generous with Light up to this point (Especially in the drow underground.) If you can identify the location of opponents, you're golden. Unfortunately, that is just one of the weaknesses of ranged characters: They are reliant on vision. Your comment is noted appropriately though. It has been very slow going lately.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

ok. I will stay where I am for now.

Female Human Monk 7

Is the map up to date? Didn't I move up to be near Teriwyth, I didn't see any explanation that invalidated my movement.

Sorry about that. You are in M107 currently. I knew I forgot something when I posted the latest update.

Female Human Monk 7

I just realised that the way I wanted to play this round of combat really doesn't work with the way combat has been done so far. Am I going to be able to act in this round knowing what the cats have done?

Yeah you can change your intention if you think a different strategy would be better. It's not too late.

Female Human Monk 7

If I want to delay my action till after our enemies close in I have to choose what to do blindly right? IE something like "5' step back then flurry at the creature in front of me" and then work out what AoO happened during the round?

Nope. More like 5' Step and Hold my action until X.

Have fun at your convention, Edelle! Take lots of pictures and such.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

Does the group wish to go toward the direction the monsters came from?

Female Human Monk 7

You'll be able to find me in the photos on the facebook cancon2012 group, but you don't know what I look like so that won't help. I'm the Judge with the weird expression on my face in one of the pics.

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

Can't even find the page

@ Casvian- Regarding the horses: as a ranger, you are entitled to the wild empathy ability to handle them As far as knowing what their motivation is, you can get that information from just a sense motive check.

Edelle: Strangely enough, yes you can make AoO's while slowed as there is nothing expressly forbidding it. One could argue that the wording of the slow spell prevents the use of immediate actions, as the character is limited to one move or one standard action, but that makes little sense to me.

Female Human Monk 7

kewl :)

Indeed, as there are conditions like Flat-Footed, and Grappled that clearly state that a person cannot take an Attack of Opportunity those conditions that don't say it allow Attacks of Opportunity.

So I've just been wondering about this. How's the pace going for everyone? Personally, I'd like to see posts a little bit more often, but I understand if everyone else has obligations IRL. Just let me know what you all think about speeding up the process a bit.

That would be fine with me, sometimes I'm really strapped for time and can only poke my head in, but lately I've had a lot of time and I haven't seen much movement on the posts.

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

The pace is not an issue. Casvian is just not very social.

related note: Now that I think about it I do play too many "silent character" types.

I play silent-types a lot too. I find it helps keep engaged if they are very physically expressive. I'll describe the grimace on their face, or their posture "Jon leaned against his bow, the look on his facing saying it all: those fools. "

Male Half Elf Fighter 1/Sorceror 4/Dragon Disciple 2

I could stand to go faster, but IRL woes do interfere, and I think we lost Sumatek entirely but I cannot tell.

It's been nigh over a month. I'm more than willing to take Sumatek back if he returns to posting, but at present, we have to move forward.

Female Human Monk 7

I'd love to post more frequently, but sometimes life/work are actually busy I and I don't check the forums all that often.

I am right these forums wont email you when an update happens right. That feature is usually best for ensuring I'm regular on a site :(

Male Human 59/66 hp Ranger(guide variant) 6

You can get RSS feeds and save them as bookmarks in your web browser. If they get to full you have to reload them though.

We were able to pester them into finally allowing PM's. Maybe we can get email notifications next.

I look at my rss feeds ~twice a week. I look at my emails ~2 an hour on average

I have an RSS feeder for Google Chrome, it's an addon called "RSS Feed Reader"

whenever something new gets posted a little number appears on the icon and clicking on that icon it shows which feets got posted to. It's real handy.

Female Human Monk 7

Looking at RSS feeds less often is intentional. Most of the things I use RSS for I don't want to spend time on at work, etc.
