Yup, lovin this so far!
Shadowrun 5E GM |
Sounds good, its funny you mention that in fact because today I just picked up a good amount of the set from my local store. I now have in addition to the core- Run and Gun, Chrome Flesh, Street Grimoire, Data Trails, and Market Panic. I have also become a Catalyst Demo Agent for my local store and have started a Shadowrun Missions group. So I am getting there in terms of my knowledge of the system, but I appreciate the help! Thanks.

@Blacksap - Actually, Wired Reflexes only gives you 1d6+1 initiative per rating, so it should be 10+1d6 normal, and 11+2d6 when activated. If that's the one from the book, that is.
Bright side of it is, though that it's upgradeable or removeable. Secretary's reaction 'ware is neither removeable, nor stackable. Still, 11+2d6 is significant, and quite good.
Regarding swear words, I don't think Paizo minds people going them in foreign languages, since that requires a lot of effort on people do them. I've done Russian, German, Swahili, French, and all many others, and I've never gotten any flak for it.
Harry "Blacksap" Wuxiao |
Ah, it was already included in the sheet and I counted it twice, thank you.
For swear words, in any case that wasn't supposed to be one, I started from "Damn it", but I understand there may be some... flexibility in translation.

OK, checking out Sparky's alias it looks like he had the van for group transport and a few rotodrones for fire support, focused on air support and recon. I usually go with a van or truck for group transport and similar setup, but throw in a Steel Lynx for heavy fire support when needed. Sounds like I should be able to fulfill a similar niche to what Sparky was doing.
I'm probably going to pick up SINner for a quality as part of the backstory- former corp security rigger explains where a lot of the cyber came from. Secretary, did you settle on a corp? Maybe they knew each other back in the day.
Anika 'Secretary' Kowalska |
Good to mention, then!
GM, can you give me some more information about my contact with the O'Reilly family? Because that might change things. I've pinned him down as the Consigliere of the family, and as a Friend in a High Place, someone who should only be bothered very, very rarely.
EDIT: Since post sniping is a common theme here. Hi, karlprosek!
Anika 'Secretary' Kowalska |
Damn, more ninjas than a Renraku Black-ops facility.
Secretary is former(and technically, current) Ares, I've decided. Just to give Blacksap more reasons for antagonism, plus it fits best. ^^ Wanna discuss it in PM, then relate that to the GM, so we don't clutter the discussion?
Harry "Blacksap" Wuxiao |
Just to give Blacksap more reasons for antagonism
*chuckle* Oh, this will be great.
As for the kind of rigger, getout is nice, but I agree we could use some more fire support. I can be a secondary driver, but in combat I'm using Longarms and close combat, some more automatic fire would be nice.

Right now I'm looking at an armored-up Steel Lynx with a LMG and a Roto-Drone with an assault rifle for combat, with another Roto-Drone for overwatch and a Fly-Spy for spying. Seems like a decent range for a beginning runner.
Though as I told Secretary, Chummer decided to crash on me and I hadn't saved, so I'll have to start the sheet over tonight.

I can help you flesh out a contact, sure. I looked over your contacts, and they seem to have some high values. Besides karma costs, you can not have a starting contact with connections over rank 6. So double check that section, but I will post soon with your contact.
Anika 'Secretary' Kowalska |
Oh! Right! I did just give a quick read through the book, and it seems I missed the 7 Karma maximum.
Regarding the extra contacts. Secretary's picked up the 'Friends in High Places' Quality, since it seems quite in character (it's from Run Faster):
FRIENDS IN HIGH PLACES
COST: 8 KARMA
“So sorry, Damian, I can’t head out on the new Ares prototype ship with you this weekend, I have a run,” is something a character with this quality might actually say. This quality gives the character an additional pool of Free Karma for purchasing contacts, with a few stipulations.
First, the character gets an additional Charisma x 4 in Karma to purchase contacts. Second, none of these contacts can have a Connection Rating less than 8. Third, any leftover Karma that the character
cannot spend is lost. These contacts can’t be called at every turn; see the Who You Know chapter for information on what happens if the favors of contacts are abused. (p. 172).
Basically, what I'm imagining is calling them only in the direst of emergencies, and when that might happen, it'll require some serious investment of time/money/moral flexibility on Secretary's side.
Regarding the other contacts, I'll move them around:
I'll move the Chief Kavanagh to (4,3), and give him a field demotion to Lieutenant for the bay area (docks).
Renard the Fence can be (6,1), since a professional connection is what I'd need there, which leaves me with Reliable Randy, who remains the same, and frees up Tomcat for a (3,4). If you'd prefer me to remove the Friends in High Places, I quite like it, and I promise to not abuse it, but I can work around it.
Shadowrun 5E GM |
Cav, Feel free to post now. I have posted a spoiler for you. I intend to introduce you to the group in the current scene. Your fixer has hooked you up with Emmet who wants you to work with Secretary and her team to track down his God-Daughter, Cammy who also happens to be Beta-Axe's ex-fiancé.
Beta-Axe |
So this was totally unexpected! Well done, Beta Axe is floored.
Jack "Cav" Harrison |
Cav eh? Well as a veteran of the 3rd Armored Cavalry I like it.
I was looking for something that wasn't too on the nose, figured that would work.
It's not spelled out in Cav's backstory, but he and Secretary have worked together before. He was going by Zack "Lancer" Patterson back then, but all he's done is grow out his hair past corpsec regulation length. He'd have a beard, but he's a pretty-boy elf so no go on the facial hair.

My fingers are tingling as I actually do something illegal in the matrix for the first time!
Awesome exploding sixes...

I pre-edged a roll to Push the limit.
From pg. 56
Push the Limit: Add your Edge rating to your test, either before or after the roll. This can al- low you to take tests that might otherwise have a dice pool of zero or less thanks to various modifiers in play. Using Edge in this way makes the Rule of Six come into play: for every 6 you roll, count it as a hit and then re-roll that die, adding any additional hits from the re-roll to your total.
If you decide to use this function after your initial roll, only your Edge dice use the Rule of Six. This use of Edge also allows you to ignore any limit on your test.
Beta-Axe |
Whoops, I just realised I forgot to add my +2 dice to Hack on the Fly from my Codeslinger quality!
Beta-Axe |
Yeah, sorry rereading my post, it's quite messy and I certainly could have stated it clearer.
Apologies!
Anika 'Secretary' Kowalska |
Oh! I think we're all on-site, and Secretary's going for a vantage point/breaching position, so we can decide whether we should engage or continue recon.
At least, that's what I was thinking, but didn't write. >.<
Robert "Deacon" Paulson |
That was my intention. I watch for Astral problems. Beta-Axe gets as much details as possible from matrix, Cav gets physical overwatch, Blacksap stays at a distance for cover fire and egress if needed.
Secretary and Sweeper are our eyes on the ground, as it were.
Beta-Axe |
Ah ok,
I suppose we could do it now if Haynes is not there we can always find him and geek him later, we know Cammy is on site I believe, because Deacon's spirit could sense her?
Anika 'Secretary' Kowalska |
Yeah, I don't know why I thought it was 50, when I read 30 literally a minute earlier. General idea is for Secretary to approach the fire escape, then climb the building and keep an eye out on both inside and outside until the rest of the team arrives, or it's time to take care of the guards.
I can only hope that EVO has invested in conveniently placed bales of hay.
Beta-Axe |
So where does everyone see thier characters in the next 24hrs?
At the moment I'm guessing dead (from HTR) or on the run from the mob...
Sorry the camera's got the best of me...
Harry "Blacksap" Wuxiao |
I'm going with "driving away as fast as possible".
Also, I kind of assumed I had line of sight to at least one camera, please tell me if it isn't so.

Yeah, I think we'd have line of sight to the Gate camera. Other external cameras were on each corner of the wall.
Working for EVO?
That's optimistic! XD

So my idea of a plan is:
Blacksap takes out the gate camera, Deacon, Cav, Blacksap and I, head in to the gates.
I'll jack directly into the elevator controls and hack it, recalling the elevator to the ground level hopefully before Sweeper gets to the bottom...
If we get sweeper then we'll head through to the secret elevator in the Greek/Rome section, rendezvous with Secretary, hack the secret elevator and head down as one team!
If we can't recover Sweeper from the gate house elevator then we send part of the team down that elevator to assist Sweeper and the other half the team will head in to rendezvous with Secretary and go down the secret elevator.
Sound good/plausible?
Beta-Axe |
Yeah, sounds like a hasty plan that will work for now.
I expect shots fired (not at cameras) very soon now.
Hey that's why I said "idea of a plan" and not plan :D
And yes this run seems to be quickly slipping sideways :/

Heh! I missed most of the discussion, since the weekend was surprisingly busy for me!
Get well soon, GM!
And working for EVO isn't that much out of the question, if we actually manage to pull off the run and THEN get caught. If we get caught, they'll probably just be thinking we're amateurs.
My other Shadowrun team has a 'drek-hitting the fan' contingency plan, involving two street sams, one of which is a troll-sized ork, and the other carrying a heavy machinegun the same way others carry SMG's. We don't have THAT sort of back-up here.
Still, DON'T PANIC, as that one book said.
