As Ellowin makes her way up stairs she can now make out they heared down stairs she hears a man shouting out it sounds just like Walthus, before he turned in to that monster and as you turn on the the landing you see him laying on the floor he crys out as he sees you. "I'm saved! You killed that faceless bastard!? Thank you. He sobs.

Calling down, Ellowin shrugs, "Dunno, but either he has real good eyes, or I suck at hiding in houses... this is why I hate being inside ..." she grumbles.

Pulling out her handaxe and putting her bow back in its customary spot, she helps the man up and half carries him down the stairs, keeping a watchful eye for any rippling skin, "Can ya give me a hand with him, Gohei? And is Senga still inside? I trust her nose more than my eyes!"

Almost as casually as an aside to the halfling, "No offense or nothing, Walthus. But, y'know, it's been kinda crazy and all the last couple of minutes."


"It's been a crazy couple of days for me, I heared the flight I hoped someone had come to save me." He starts to pull himself together. "That thing, it's a faceless stalker he came apone my house two days ago and attacked me my snakes kept him busy when I got up stairs near death and hit in my safe house. He then walks over to the kitchen. "I have a wand, to heal myself I'm happy to heal any of you also."

He then takes the wand from a hidden compartment and uses it on himself.

Taking a sharp deep breath as his wounds begin to heal. "I haven't slept since the attack he stayed in the house after I ran I was so frightened that he would find me and finish the job." Reaching into the compartment he took the wand from he pulls a cloak out."I have a reward for you, it's all I've got but it's the last I could do. It's a clock of resistance." He hands it off and then takes a seat. "Now what made you come all the way out here such a change that saved my life I wish to help in anyway I can."

cloak of resistance +1 and leather armor on the body of the faceless stalker. Could I get someone to volunteer to keep track of loot please?

We're actually in Sheriff Hemlocks employ. He's started up the Goblin Bounties on account of the recent troubles with them. He wants to make sure that a nuisance doesn't turn into a problem. We haven't met by the way, Fletcher Woodward.

We actually came by to get some advice on the swamp and the goblins but I feel like we should be asking about that thing. I mean is that normal? Are there more of those things running around the swamp?

He suddenly feels like he is being watched at the thought of it and though he sees no more faceless stalkers he is in no way comforted by Sengas amber eyes staring at him. Unblinking. Before she trots off to a corner to link at her foreleg.

Anisha wakes up in pain and disoriented, it takes her nearly a full minute before she can recall what happened. "Hah! I'll came to try and keep the other's safe and look at what's happened, better be more careful, clearly there are more things than goblins in this swamp"

Hearing conversation coming elsewhere in the house she follows the sound to the rest of the group while clutching her head, Anisha nearly shouts in fear upon seeing Walthus, but she notices the conversation before embarrassing herself she still stays as far alway from the halfling as possible without leaving the room.

"Urgh, I'm sorry everyone, and thank you! It seems rather than helping I was something of a burden."


Walthus nods as Fletcher explains himself. "This vial thing was called Volorog, I had heard there was a tribe of that that died out long ago never saw it myself. But he would pester me from time to time my snakes normally kept him back but he must have got desperate." He looks down at the body shaking his head.

"A lot is happening in the swamp, something is disturbing the order of things and i can only assume its the goblins and their aggressiveness. I've no idea where they got the explosives and fireworks but they seem to love the destruction and chaos they cause, on quiet nights you can hear even them from here. In the kitchen he starts to bring out cups and a jug full of mead, offering a drink to everyone. "I'm glad Hemlock has started up the bounties again, something really has to be done about them their village is to the south east i can show you on the map but getting to it is a different story, you'll have to head back to the lost coast road and loop around to the old fish trail could take better part of the day to get to the village if you leave soon should have hour or two of daylight left. But if you were to get a riverboat you could get through in no time mine was stolen a few weeks ago i know where it is but its past the goblin village and i didn't want to risk it with them do rallied up. He takes a long drink of his mead, and a hard bite of some bread that he offers around.

"Here a warning to you, there's a lot of strange stuff out in the swamp only last week i came across a massive ship just in the middle of the swamp like it had sailed up the small rivers. There's also the Soggy River Monster i'm sure his lair is around here somewhere.. but everytime i try to track him he just leads me in circles. But thats me just going off talking nonstop again, if you need anything else ask away. You can stay here if you wish too my place is always open to you lot, you saving my life and all just watch out for me snakes their friendly as long as you dont step on them." He then stands up and opens the back door you see three large snakes slithering around outside. "Your cat friend there will be ok with them right?"

Ellowin fingers the fabric of the cloak, then offers it to Anisha, "You should probably take it, will keep the chill out, at the least."

Turning to Walthus, she asks a few questions, "Okay, the sheriff said you'd be able to help us as a guide. So, can we borrow your map if you're not going to... y'know, guide us? Also, you wouldn't happen to have another of those wands laying around, would ya? Probably a long shot, but ya never know..."

"I heard the Soggy River Monster was naught but a rumor! You're telling me it actually exists!? Have you lain eyes upon it? Truly, actually lain eyes upon it? Seen it in its own majestic, surely worth a good bit of coin, hide? Whereabouts on this map would you..." she starts, then looks around at her companions staring at her, "Er, maybe later. Hey, you wouldn't happen to have any venom extract from them snakes, would ya? That could come in handy."

During all of the commotion after defeating the strange creature, Rishana had remained silent, staying close by to Anisha as she recovered from her injuries with the aid of Fletcher's magic. She was relieved that her friend was okay and that the real Walthus had also been saved, but a feeling of guilt gnawed at her for not being more vigilant earlier.

I must be more vigilant, more observant. Anisha's life and the lives of the others depend on it!

"Thank you for your aid and for opening your home to us; the spirits surely will smile on you. Thank you for the warning as well - we will be sure to heed it and proceed with caution." She smiles slightly as Walthus casts a worried glance at Senga, who sat nearby. "Leopards do not generally prey on snakes, in my experience. She will not bother them."

Listening to Walthus words Gohei strokes his chin. "A ship in a swamp, that sounds interesting for sure. But we are here to get to the goblins. So to understand better. If we walk now, we reach the goblins close in the afternoon, correct? How far out are goblins hunting parties? Do you know that? And ship in the bog and goblins with fireworks. Could you imagine, those items were found on the ship?"
We have to keep Anisha safe, let her stay in the back. Thinking for another moment he adresses the others.
"Who of you feel more comfortable using ranged weapons, and who are better close to the enemy. We have to find a way to keep Anisha and Yui safe, so that the enemys have first to face us, before they reach them. A standard formation could be a triangle."


"You need a guide? i'd be happy to help if you let me rest up a bit this no sleep has affected me a bit, we could leave early tomorrow if you wish?" He then looks down at the wand on the table picking it up and handing it to her. "You can have this one, theres not many charges left but please if it helps you i insist." Walthus then smiles at Ellowin. "A hunter are you? Soggy River Monster, i've seen it never up close but at night you can feel him watching you its a pale monster that has legs that bend like a dog's. I'll point it out for you on the map. Venom i have none i used it in the fight, but i could milk some in a few days that should give you a douse."

Walthus nods at Rishana, although still eyeing up her massive leopard.

"As i said i could talk for hours about this swamp, there is so much unknown about it but so much danger also. The hunting parties use the old fish trail to get on to the lost coast road its very dangerous now."

Well seems sensible to spend the night here and set out with our guide. Fletcher says happily. Mind if I put the kettle on. he adds, already poking at the stove.

So these goblins got their hands on some fireworks then? They do love to see stuff explode, no wonder they are excited. Do you think it's likely they got them from that ship? I'm no sailor but sounds like someone took a wrong turn somewhere.


"Help yourself Fletch. There is a lot stranger stuff in the swamp than that they could have raided the ship, ive no idea where they could have gotten them from."

Isn't it quite early in the day? I thought we left early from Sandpoint and came here directly?

"Maybe it's a ship from Tien. We have lots of fireworks over there! Almost all of the festivals we have entire shows using all different kinds of fireworks!" Yui says excitedly.

I don't know how long it took to trek through the swamp. Besides it's never too early for tea and a rest :)

Walthus said if we double back to the old fish trail now we would only have an hour or so of sunlight and I don't really want to be running around the swamp in the dark.

Ellowin takes the wand gratefully and gives it to Anisha, "This might save some hides against the goblins."

I'm guessing its a wand of cure light wounds? I'll let the spellcraft folks figure it out if not! Either way, added it to the loot list. Could go to either Anisha, Yui, Fletcher, or Rishana, but Ellowin would just auto-give it to Anisha.

After he heard from Walthus what to do with the body he will drag the thing by his foot out of the house doing his best not to touch any flesh.

It took you about 3 hours to get here, so call it midday. Ellowin it might be a good idea if I told you :p Wand of clw with 9 charges left.

"Leave it outside we'll have to bury him, don't think he would go down well with my snakes. I normally stay in the swamp, I understand how it works better than the towns and city's I can get everything I need from the swamp too."

Anisha takes the cloak and try fastening it around herself while saying: "Thank you." She also takes the wand nodding in agreement with Ellowin. Curious Anisha asks Walthus: "Do you know how old the ship is? It might have become stranded here before the place became a swamp. I'll think it's better to have a guide with us."

"I know where it is its alittle far out in the swamp again last the goblin village they seem to have the swamp in a strangle hold over the past few weeks" He takes the map and points to the ship.

I'll list where things are in the swamp that you know of currently.
Goblin village - south east - 6 hours by road 12 treaking throught the swamp.
Big monster - last seen east 2-3 hours through the swamp
Sunken ship - south west could take all day with out a swamp boat

My eyes are pretty sharp but I don't know anything about swamps. Wouldn't Rishana be the best?

Fletch would be a poor scout. He has no knowledge of nature or survival. Plus hos concentration span isn't great and if anything does happen he is poor in melee combat. I think the order should be Rishana = Senga > Gohei > Yui = Anisha > Fletcher = Ellowin

Yeah I know what you mean Yui. I mean my armor is kinda new and it's already dirty. he says glumly. Man I don't know how you do it. he says to Rishana, Ellowin and Walthus. This swamp is full of mud and flies. And monsters. What's the appeal?

Rishana shrugs at Fletcher. "Each person should play to where their strengths lie. I am no healer, but I am blessed with strength and hardiness of body, and so the path of the warrior is where I am strongest. Nisha is not a warrior, but she is wise and gifted with magic from the spirits, so she walks the healer's path. All of us are strong as individuals in different ways, but we form an even stronger whole when we combine our strengths."

Ellowin technically has better skill ranks than Rishana, but I believe she is ranged so having her in the back makes more sense.

"Rishana is right, I'll doubt you enjoy stitching wounds or the smell of herbs being mixed either. I'll agree with going after the monster, I don't think it's a good idea for us to be exploring the swamp while leaving it at our backs."

She nods while thinking then adds more words: "I think we should explore the ship too after we go to the goblin's village. It's important we find the explosives source to stop any more goblins of finding them."

Before going out Anisha will ask Fletcher if he can use wands, and if he wants to carry the wand.

I'll agree Fletcher should keep the wand.


Ok we can continue this discussion in.. discussion :P But if you're going to head off looking for the soggy swamp monster i'll need survival and perception please.

This post can fit in whenever we actually decide to head out into the swamp.

"We seem to be ready now. Senga and I will scout a short distance ahead of the group; if we should encounter anything strange, I will signal the rest of you to hold until it is deemed safe to proceed. Senga, 'ì'awn lok."

As the group sets out from Walthus' home, Rishana and Senga range a short distance ahead of the rest of the group. Not enough as to be out of sight, but far enough that if they should encounter anything suspicious, she can motion for the others to wait. She keeps her eyes peeled for signs of the Soggy Swamp Monster, goblins, or anything else that seems unusual.

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
Survival: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12

Senga pads along at Rishana's side, seeming to enjoy being out and away from Sandpoint. Her ears are tuned to the sounds of the swamp, her eyes ever scanning the horizon.

Anisha keeps to the center of the group as they move, a place where she is less likely to be hit, and where she can help everyone else. Unlike normal she is serious and taciturn, obsessively watching her surroundings. She is nervous, a bit fearful, but mostly feeling ashamed of being so helpless before. So now to compensate Anisha is being overly watchful. As always influenced by her emotions the spirits are fretting and throwing mud around. Every step Anisha takes throws a bit of mud in her closest companions.

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

The group heads out on the trail of the legendary Soggy River Monster, with knowledge from Walthus he points you in the direction he last saw the monster. While the swamp is dense with vines and trees Rishana keen eye and help from the others helps as she leads the group to a clearing.

A ten-foot-high mound of branches, logs, and reeds lies amid the trees here, nestled in a narrow, muddy clearing. Flies buzz and swarm around the foul-smelling mound of rotting vegetation.

As the group moves into the clearing Anisha is the first to spot the mound as something more as its construction seems artificial she points out a door in the side of the mound, and the large mound of bones. A narrow opening along the southern side of the 10-foot diameter mound allows entrance into its cramped, dripping interior.

There doesn't seem to be anyone home and a quick look around the clearing also shows no one to be near.

Fletcher slops along through the swamp, lamenting his once clean armor.

If it weren't for the others he would have walked straight passed the mound of logs - one pile of trash looks much the same as another. But those with more nature-sense quickly point out the door and pile of bones.

Hmmm.... a big pile of bones. That's not creepy in the slightest. Still, is this actually the den of the legendary Soggy River Monster! I'm sure there's a song in there somewhere. he muses. Old man River... Down by the River... Creepy Monster Night Blues...

That hole looks a bit cramped for one of you big folks. Uh... Yui.. that scouting mission you talked about....? he says, readying his bow. What do you think? Or shall I just shed some light in there? he says, casting the cantrip on a stone beside the path and flipping it up in the air with one hand before deftly catching it in the other.

"Well... well, if this is the swamp monster lair, it seems he might not be a monster after all. Perhaps he is a goblin? Or perhaps this is simply a goblin's home, unrelated to the swamp monster?"
