Shrugs - you might want to list that archetype up on your character sheet as well Cortos - currently there isn't any indication that you are going that way.
I wouldn't get too excited about what we could potentially make yet. Voodoo still has to cast a jaundiced eye over what you can actually get out of 80 lb of adamantite...
I'm pretty sure it will be from here to the Pathfinder Lodge - then based on indications we're likely off to Solku.
Hungry Voodoo |
When are we supposed to get this stuff anyway? Are we done exploring and heading back to town already?
All will be revealed, but keep in mind that these metals aren't the easiest to work with and it will take some time for weapons and armor to be forged and there will be the maquila.

Exactly - just idle speculation as I was wondering how far we could stretch the weight of ore based on the weight of actual products. That's also why I left some unused weight at the end, for leverage purposes.
Don't worry about the maquila, Chitleen has contacts in the fedarales and can get us a good deal, ok ese?
Daeron Gwadestael |
I reckon hiring a surface team would be advantageous. So that we could camp out in relative safety when we're resting for the day.
I propose:
guards
healer
cook?
wagon
draft animals
provisions
We should also divvy up the metals as I'm sure each has an idea of what to do with 16lb of adamantite and 4lbs of noqual each.
Cortos the Unbroken |
I actually don't know if we are getting a fair deal here, both in character and out of character. What say you?
Daeron: where do we get them in the middle of the desert? How much do you think we will have to pay them? Aren't we risking they get attacked by the gnolls while we're away?
I like the idea, but I'n entirely convinced by its viability, that's why I'm asking.
Daeron Gwadestael |
I believe we are going to stop over at Katapesh before heading over to the mines, based on previous discussions. I think Katapesh is a major center of trade and it would be not too difficult to get what we need before heading in the mines.
Hungry Voodoo |
To be clear you are several days SSW of Katapesh City. The mines are in the far west of the country so you would have to go back East to Katapesh if you wish.
Solku is the biggest city on the way to the mines. It is decently sized though it cannot compare to Katapesh, of course. But you could find all the mundane supplies you want.
T&T Mining Co can take care of the camp details unless you'd prefer to handle that. If you want to run with the caravan rules from JR i'm cool with that, too. we aren't really talking huge distances though.
Chitleen Shudra |
Hungry Skull - I'm pretty sure the 1 month break between now and meeting up in Solku is enough time to get our skymetal gear made? - then we pick up from the dwarves in Solku?
Chitleen's personal shopping list is thus:
20 x Adamantite Arrows - 3 lb
3 lb for me - 1.5 lb for Dwarves - uses 4.5 lb of adamantite
Noqual Studs on MW Studded Leather - 5 lb (so 2.5 lb of Noqual)
20 x Noqual Arrows - 3 lb (so 1.5 lb of Noqual)
4 lb for me - 2 lb for Dwarves - uses 6 lb of Noqual

sheesh. now that i have a decent connection. yes. my thought was that Truther and Trathis would wotk the metal in Katapesh and have your gear finished when you all meet up in Solku. There might be someone to work the adamantite in Solku, but not the resources for working noqual.
For those who just want to sell the metal, T&T can just give you scrip for use in Solku- good as gold. Likely you'll have gained a level by the time you get this windfall so wealth will be more appropriate for that level. you may be a bit behind for 2nd level, but you won't likely be 2nd level long anyway.
Hungry Voodoo |
We are level 2 now right? So we are a little behind WBL.
actually, you've got the wealth +, but it's not exactly liquid. conveniently, Var does have a small stash of low level magic items from the pathfinder society that he can sell or trade- the cloak would be available or you could get the pearl in Solku.
Cortos the Unbroken |
Cortos shopping list is just adamantine greataxe for now, so 18 lb of adamantium total (12 +6 for the dwarves). I would also like to make it masterwork, if that means selling a little more adamantium from that share that's fine.
Don't know what to do with the noqual, any suggestions?
Chitleen Shudra |
Cortos - an adamantine weapon must be masterwork to start with, but it remains to be seen whether Hungry Voodoo will consider that part of the 1/3 construction cost or not.
We always have the 800-1100gp of incidental wealth (jewels and gold foil) that we can use some of that cost.
As I put up earlier - Noqual is a good candidate for making shields out of - not only will it be masterwork and lighter, but it will also provide a bonus vs saves.
A Heavy 'Noqual' Shield would run to 15lb (halved to 7.5lb as Noqual is 1/2 steel weight) - which would take 11.25 lb of metal to achieve.
Arrows are always good as well. (Noqual gives a bonus vs summoned creatures)
Chitleen Shudra |
I'd say stick with the wild and wooly two handed slavering greataxe barbarian. Adamantine will give your greataxe a big boost against DR and maintains the two handed strength bonus.
A shield ain't going to do much good for you unless you pair it up with some armor anyway ;)
I'd say let either Jerrand or Shirish go for the Noqual shield - but that's just me. After my 6 lb is taken out - we've only got 14 lb left as well, so enough for only a single heavy shield.
Shirish |
shirish smash!
a lighter "heavy" shield would be nice, but she's got the strength to wield just about anything. Heck, could give her heavy armor proficiency and have her bamp people with a tower shield if I wanted to.
This is my first totally martial PF character, so I'm not down on the whole plotting ahead on the armor and such yet.
Hungry Voodoo |
ok, so figgering out all the production costs-
80/5= 16 lbs @ of adamantium
20/5= 4 lbs @ of noqual (consider it x2 for determing what you can make with it)
so after the 1/3 cut- you've each got about 11 lbs of adamantite
and 2.5 lbs of noqual (5 lbs of gear)
I didn't mean for it to get overcomplicated, i just thought it was an interesting way to get your starting $ and gear.
So everyone could have a noqual buckler or equivalent and adamantine hvy flail and dagger or equal. You;ll each be just shy of a noqual heavy shield and adamantine great axe, but you can always deal as some of you have far less need for the metals.
Chitleen Shudra |
Bringing it all back together based on what people have put up. Personally I am in favour of disbursing the metals from a 'pool', rather than splitting it into equal shares and then horse trading:
The italicised are just suggestions.
Adamantite:
MW Greataxe for Cortos - 12 lb
2 x 20 Arrows - 6 lb (1 for Chitleen, 1 for Daeron)
2 x MW Daggers for Daeron - 2 lb
2 x Scrollcase for Daeron - 1 lb
MW Warhammer for Jerrand - 5 lb
MW Longsword for Shirish - 4 lb
MW Heavy Adamantite Shield for Shirish - 15 lb
Uses: 45 lb, 22.5 lb for Dwarves = 67.5 lb used
12.5 lb of left over adamantine could be traded for about 1,500 gp?
Noqual:
Studs on MW Studded Leather for Chitleen - 2.5 lb
MW Heavy Noqual Shield for Jerrand - 7.5 lb
2 x 20 Arrows - 3 lb (1 for Chitleen, 1 for ?)
Uses: 13 lb, 6.5 lb for Dwarves = all used up
