Hungry Voodoo's Mines of Zolurket (Inactive)

Game Master voodoo chili

In 4121 AR, the desert dwarves of the Barrier Wall Mountains sealed the famed Tar-Urkatha mine abruptly, saying only that one of the richest platinum mines in history had played out. Nearly six centuries later, the truth rises from the darkness.

Hungry Voodoo:
I'm planning to take metamagic feat "Toppling Spell" somewhere in Daeron's future. It's from Ultimate Magic. Please? :)

Daeron:
It sounds like a potential for a free trip attempt with every magic missile you cast. This could get out of hand depending on how many MMs you could cast per day. I'd definitely have to think about it.

No rush, I may have to think of a different concept if it's denied.

Wait, how come my ranger didn't get a perception check against the disguise self for the weird dude's proboscis? +9 to a check is +9 to a check, darnit!

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Resisting urge to make crass joke about comparison of various body parts....

hahaha, Wow, shirish doesn't have kn. Nature so she, in fact, does not know that there is a difference between an olfactory organ and a reproductive one.

Go ahead, make crass jokes. :P

Grand Lodge

Say Wha-? Sorry not following I just came over to speak on Jerrand's dialect.

Which by the way I have no idea what it is.

All I do is type the post then go back and change a few words to give it the sound of something he would say.

Main thing is words like...

fir = for
guid = good
shuild = should
dat = that
tae = the
dee = thee
dis = this

And so forth.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

No problems Jerrand - I was going with the stereotypical Scottish dwarf back-translation and coming up with weirdness. Knowing it isn't accent based makes it easier for me :)

Grand Lodge

Posted as my default alias by accident.

Could you remove GM - Zombie Master from the characters list.

Sorry.

Ah yeah, first chain shirt we find that nobody needs might want to go to...

wait, nevermind. Endurance at second level lets Shirish sleep in medium armor. Silly player.

Cortos- What is Rock Stepper? I don't have a source for that trait.

Dwarf Barbarian 2

An alternate dwarf racial trait. It's in the pfsrd.

Rock Stepper: Many dwarves can skillfully negotiate rocky terrain. They can ignore difficult terrain created by rubble, broken ground, or steep stairs when they take a 5-foot step. This racial trait replaces stonecunning. Source: Rival Guide.

Kay gents. I'm signin' off and will be unavailable for a few days because of international travel.

Feel free to point Shirish towards any vile offenders and have her swing her sword and hit stuff in combat.

I believe her current HP, which is... 4 or 5 is accurate. But the way or GM rolls, she'll probably be down in the next round, anyway. :P

Cortos- cool on the trait just note non-Core, APG abilities

Shirish- I'm not finding your favored enemy on your sheet, please note in the Offense part of your stat block when you get back.

EDIT: OK, I see a +2 mentioned in your attack on the undead.

Female Human Housewife/1

Sheesh, could do it now.

Trapped in Cleveland. On hold with my airline carrier, trying to find a way home.

F*ck my life...

Hu5tru wrote:

Snowed in? I got a bunch of family in Cleveland :P

I hate work travel...

Female Human Housewife/1

No. Supposed to be going home to my husband after 5 months of being separated. And apparently every flight to Newark after ours left were either cancelled or diverted elsewhere. I get to be the lucky one.

Almost 3 hours on hold now.

Shirish- OK, looks like you were taking -4 off both attacks?. ONLY your OFF-HAND attack (the heavy shield) should be -4, primary hand (longsword) is only -2. Thus longsword +4, off-hand hvy shield at +2.

NOTE: As for Strength bonus- Last round Shirish was hit by the tongue attack and took 2 points STR damage. Currently your strength is at 16, not 18.

Two-Weapon Fighting Text:

You can fight with a weapon wielded in each of your hands. You can make one extra attack each round with the secondary weapon.

Prerequisite: Dex 15.

Benefit: Your penalties on attack rolls for fighting with two weapons are reduced. The penalty for your primary hand lessens by 2 and the one for your off hand lessens by 6. See Two-Weapon Fighting in Combat.

Normal: If you wield a second weapon in your off hand, you can get one extra attack per round with that weapon. When fighting in this way you suffer a –6 penalty with your regular attack or attacks with your primary hand and a –10 penalty to the attack with your off hand. If your off-hand weapon is light, the penalties are reduced by 2 each. An unarmed strike is always considered light.

Female Human Housewife/1

Oh, I must have missed the strength damage in my read through. Sorry about that. Must have been in Toronto with five hours of sleep in 30. I will make a note of it on my sheet.

NO worries, sounded like an awful trip. Hope things are going well.

Is it just me or does Cortos not like being healed? The glass cannon has some rather big cracks at the moment... might want to wait for Jerrand to channel a little help. He doesn't have to touch you or anything.

Dwarf Barbarian 2

I thought we were out of healing spells? That's why I proposed to rest.

Cortos is reminding me of the Francis character in Stripes. Just a wee bit.

I like not being the cleric for once. I don't have to remember how many spells and channels I have used.

Dwarf Barbarian 2

Well, he DOES have some sort of Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...

Who is our big toe?

I think I'll throw in a Sgt. Hulka at some point just for kix : )

Cortos the Unbroken wrote:

You were able to rest and recover spells after the solfugid encounter and Jerrrand has only cast one spell, no channels so far I believe.

Oh goodness. I enjoy playing with a similar age group. *laughs* kids these days...

Party vs Stone Jar = TPK

WTF?!?!?!?!

LOL :P

dems da breaks, or more accurately, are not.

Has a hardness of 8, and 1 hp, that would make me laugh.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

I think the only damage roll so far that would have hurt it was the one that Daeron did to himself!

Shirish's would have, if she didn't roll a freaking 2 for her attack. Natty 8 on her d8 for damage.

Dwarf Barbarian 2

Toughest enemy Cortos has ever faced: a g*!~&# vase.

was that way with my last barbarian back in 3.5. Toughest enemy she ever faced was an animated chest of drawers. She went around flipping any piece of furniture the party came across in the dungeon over to check from that point on.

Confusion is a killer, being dropped due to one's own hand at maximum damage, dang.

Aaah, to be a high level arcane caster. *chuckles with glee*

ah, it's all good fun for the GM : ) nothing can survive one of Cortos' hits though, that is when he's conscious. I think that ended up being a nice little end encounter after the 'black sphinx' didn't prove all that tough.

I was aiming for an Ancient Osiriani version of Mi-go technology. The old 3.5 libris mortis gave their version of the brain in the jar control undead powers. Maybe as i polish this little adventure up, i'll make the canopic jar the literal brains behind the plot.

So we are right about at 2K xp. LEVEL UP!!

I think that's the fastest i've ever leveled a party :) i'll likely keep up a good pace for the next level as I want to have y'all at 3rd before we actually hit the mines..

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Are we using the same rolling technique for HP you have for the Freebooters? - ie. d8 turns into d5+3?

HP: 1d5 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

+1 BAB, +1 Fort, +1 Reflex
Discovery: Precise Bombs
Poison Use; Poison Resistance +2
Extra bomb per day
Extra Extract per day, and add Shield to extract book.
Favored class to +1 skill point
+1 to these Skills: Appraise, Craft (Alchemy), Disable Device, Knowledge (Arcana), Knowledge (Dungeoneering), Knowledge (Nature), Perception, Survival

yes, HD are d6=1d4+2, d8=1d5+3, d10=1d6+4, d12=1d7+5.

that makes sure you are average or better.
as for loot- i'm giving you big $$ in ore as you likely won't be able to cash out until you get to Solku although you may be able to barter some at the lodge.

Grand Lodge

Level Up

Very Awesome and easy for Jerrand.

Take another level of Cleric:

- HP 1d5 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
- Skill Ranks = 2 ranks (+1 rank to Heal, add 1 rank to Sense Motive)
- Add +1 to Will and Fort saves
- Gain use of 1 additional orison and 1 1st lvl spell
- BAB becomes +1
- Favored Class bonus - +1 HP

Not hard to do will change my sheet after I know how to determine HP.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Just transcribing out here for loot discussions.

We got about 20 lb of noqual (10 per cyst) with a street value of ~1,000 gold scarabs. According to the skull-sage: Noqual has a magic deadening quality and can be made into armor that wards off spells (saving throw bonus) or weapons that are particularly effective against summoned and spell animated creatures.

We also got 80 lb of adamantite with a street value of ~10,000 gold scarabs.

Selling this would seem to be taking the poorer option, and I'm thinking we should be looking to get some crafting done for us.

I'm happy to yield any claim on the adamantite - as long as I can get a few arrowheads made.

The noqual I'm interested in to the point of potentially some studs for studded leather or lacing it into a talwar as a weapon...

Daeron:
To get back to you on the Toppling Spell Feat. My understanding is that it only applies once per casting of the spell. So at 5th level you get three missiles per casting of magic missile, but only one trip attempt.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

Add on between 800 and 1,100 in gold and quartz we've lifted from the walls as well :)

Some information for consideration on the Noqual and Adamantite...

Weapon Weights:
Greataxe - 12 lb
Longsword - 4 lb
Warhammer - 5 lb
Dagger - 1 lb
20 x Arrows - 3 lb

Armor Weights:
Light Steel Shield - 6 lb
Heavy Steel Shield - 15 lb
Studded Leather - 5 lb heavier than normal leather therefore 5 lb of studs?
Scalemail - 30 lb
Breastplate - 30 lb
Fullplate - 50 lb

Also - Noqual weighs half as much as steel, so we could potentially make 40 lb worth of items out of the 20 lb of Noqual.

BUT we still need to take out a cut for Var and whoever we might get to do the crafting for us.

Maybe if we grab some nice stone jar fragments, that will keep Var happy? .... pity Cortos broke them all... :P

Dwarf Barbarian 2

I wanted to be sure.
Rollin... 1d7 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
And sheet updated. Do we get these new hps once we get up?

Shirish HP 1d5 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8

Ranger 2nd level. Need to get that giant spider for my companion.

Male Elf Alchemist (Crypt Breaker) 5

What I see as possible uses for the metals (if we can get a decent rate on getting them made - which as the Hungry Skull has stated, might need to wait for Solku)

Adamantite:
MW Breastplate for Cortos - 30 lb (would net him DR 2/- and a healthy AC boost)
2 x 20 Arrows - 6 lb (to share out between the bow users)
MW Warhammer for Jerrand - 5 lb
MW Longsword for Shirish - 4 lb
MW Heavy Adamantite Shield for Shirish - 15 lb (Shirish shield bashes, and this would make the shield bash bypass DR / hardness)
Uses: 60 lb of Adamantite - leaving 20 lb to use as barter

Noqual:
Studs on MW Studded Leather for Chitleen - 5 lb
MW Talwar for Chitleen - 4 lb
MW Heavy Noqual Shield for Jerrand - 15 lb
2 x 20 Arrows - 6 lb (to share out between the bow users)
Uses: 30 lb of Noqual - leaving 10 lb to use as barter

I must say if we can swing this getting made for us, we'd probably be the best dressed 2nd level characters in the town ;)

woops, 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

Edit

All done. Added Kn. Nature, and intimidate, HP, and Shield Focus as my 2nd level combat feat for an AC of 20.

CORTOS NEEDS NO ARMOR! CORTOS WOULD RATHER WEAR A SKIRT BEFORE GOING ARMORED IN BATTLE! WAIT A SECOND, HE ALREADY DOES!!!

Seriously though, I wanted to go with the Savage Barbarian archetype and wear no armor at all. At the moment I'm wearing the armored kilt as my only mean of protection. Therefore I'd rather have an mwk adamantium battleaxe. A shield would be nice (it wouldn't contrast the No Armor rule) but I'll have to think about it.

When are we supposed to get this stuff anyway? Are we done exploring and heading back to town already?

Female Human Housewife/1

Settle down, Francis.
