Gonna let our bard respond before we move on. If he wants to roll his diplomacy check and I can see how the locals will react to him at least :)
Yeah, it seems lazy, but I am doing my part as a GM to make sure the locals perceive you as you present yourselves. Good practice with a bard about.
Edit
As it is likely to come up later, if you role play or write particularly well, I will give bonuses to your diplomacy check. So if you write up something brilliant and then roll a 1 I might completely negate the result if it pleases me.
This is strictly a bias GM thing, but it is to help.
Similarly if you insult or verbally assault someone and try to cover with a diplomacy action in the next breath, you'll receive negatives. But I hope as intelligent players you'd recognize that there are consequences for those types of actions.
I am trying to make the town of Sandpoint as alive as possible without the principal NPCs there, purposefully at the moment to make you PCs feel as the stars in your own AP.

Happy Birthday. Spend some time with your folks.
Mostly how you present yourself when you go interview folks, i think the group consensus was the fishermen who have a clue what's going on in the brinestump marsh, where you want to go to get information before you leave for it to hunt monsters.

Happy B-day, and congrats on another year of gaming!

Seiji: Just found something in Ultimate Combat: Targeted Bomb Admixture. Level 1 extract that makes your bombs not do splash damage, but instead double intelligence bonus on a single target. (Instead of 1d6+3 on target and 4 splash, you'd do 1d6+6 on one target)
Just thought I would bring it to your attention regarding discoveries, as it might let you get precise bombs later/not at all if you wish to have other discoveries instead.
Yamamoto Seiji |
I like Targeted Bomb Admixture, but I'm not sure it's using at low levels since its duration is 1/round level. I think it will be handy later, when we face single enemies.
I plan on getting Precise Bombs next level, as my first discovery. I'll get Infusion either at 3rd (via a feat) or at 4th (with my second discovery).

dear me, weirdo halfling alert indeed.
Edit
Another note about my style, i generally like to have more character and party interaction to my direction. I was in a terrible, horrible game my first game here where the GM had more posts per page than most of the characters, and... really rolled out the red carpet for his plot, in fact... I believe it would be safe to say he railroaded, using his GMPC to offer us a silly option which no one would agree to, and the one he wanted us to take.
So, for instance, right now, you could go to the hagfish, or you could harrass some hungry fishermen. Or, i dunno, maybe hire some to take you out there. Or go to the Rusty Dragon and get yer drink on. I leave it in your capable hands. :)
Valcrim Flinthammer |
If you feel I am pushing the game ahead too fast, don't hesitate to call me on it. I was thinking we'd get the info-gathering done, so we can bring stuff to the supper table for discussion and proper introductions, and head out in the morning, prepared. After all, with two non-spontaneous casters, it would be rather silly to head out with the spells we prepare for non-adventure days. The load-out I have is meant for adventure, while in town, I likely prepare more utility, not to mention justify covering each others weaknesses and playing to strengths.
Treygan Gorski |
Might just be confused, but is Seiji following Valcrim along the docks, or going with me to the markets? Just wanting to confirm before posting.

Okay, found mah stride for the afternoon. I'll answer the stuff I see now and set up my Rusty Dragon. Just a note, while I do have the Rise of the Runelords, I haven't read it, so if I leave out "important" details there, let's agree to call my laziness "GM's creative license." :P
The Dragon is a focal point, not a destination. It should facilitate communication, not be an end in and of itself.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
Dunno what the Sense Motive DC would be to understand that Valcrim is obviously "tsundere" for the elf who shares his zeal in defense and hatred for goblinoids.

there is the height difference. Oh, and Valgrim's head might be crushed by Shalelu's new cheesecake chesticles. Get the iconic inquisitor, witch, oracle and shalelu together in a room and try to see which one of 'em has enough stamina to beat the others unconscious with their breasts.
Still waitin' on seeing Ezren, Valeros, and the iconic bard in ridicu-huge cod pieces to insinuate their masculinity.

Depends on the incarnation of her, I guess. She seems to have gone down _at least_ two sizes on the cover of book 2, compared to book 1.
And men apparently don't need huge dongs, they just need to be ripped. And from the bath-house pic, it seems old man Ezren with Strength 11 is more ripped than I was in my prime, hitting the gym when I was not cutting firewood and shoveling snow.

So, husband needs a root canal. he's got some pretty heavy duty pain killers. Will see if he can sleep through tonight, more dentist stuff tomorrow for him.
But, uh, yeah, head slowly getting back into not freaking out coz my husband is enduring incredible pain mode. Am reading things, and will figure out where to insert myself tomorrow, I think.
Thanks for being patient, gents.

So in February Paizo should be releasing Skull and Shackles the new AP about pirates. I love me some pirates so I most likely will have to try to play that AP but I think I will probably run it here on the boards too. Rather than do an open recruitment my intention is to limit the field to the players that I currently play with and see if I can cobble together a group from folks that I already know I enjoy playing with.
Anyway, there is some time yet but I wanted to let you know and you can get back to me if you think you might be interested. Ahoy!
Treygan Gorski |
I'll throw interest out there as well. Though to be fair, my own personal interest in pirates isn't that significant, so if others express a great deal of excitement at the prospect, they may be a better fit than myself.
Valcrim Flinthammer |
Do I like pirates? Does the ability to more or less quote the entirety of Monkey Island count? :P
I might well be interested, if work and life allows the time. Probably a more animated character than Valcrim tho. Low charisma character tends to not be the life of the party >_>

Just to let you all know, I will be traveling for the next few weeks. I should still have regular internet access and should be able to post every day, so it shouldn't be a big interruption, but I thought it was worth mentioning.
Everybody have a safe and happy holiday, whatever it is you celebrate.
Valcrim Flinthammer |
Valcrim might come across as a bit bloodthirsty when it comes to the monstrous enemies of his people. And he is. From what I gather, goblinoids are not considered "people", but rather a race created with malicious intent, made for the purpose of doing evil, by the enemies of the goodly gods. When/if we have to deal with an enemy consisting of goodly/neutral races, there will be less spring in his step as he moves to defeat them.
But Torag's dogma in this regard is pretty clear: You kill that which threaten the lives of those you protect. There is no room for frivilous mercy, as the long-lived races do not breed rapidly enough to replace losses incurred by giving "human rights" to evil, in hopes of redeeming them.
Also, happy trails, Seiji! I assume that the holidays are going to be spotty for all, as they are for family and over-eating :P
Treygan Gorski |
Don't take me wrong, I think you're playing your character perfectly. If people agreed 100% of the time, it'd be boring. Minor conflicts are great in my opinion for Rp, as long as it doesn't get taken to drawing weapons. In this case I don't have the same natural hatred as you and Shalelu, so I'd try to play moral compass here. "It's okay to kill the goblins as long as you're doing it to protect the town, not killing for the sake of killing." I figure it'd end with a 'agree to disagree' scenario, but that's just compromise.

Checks list, crosses off plan 47. Also 154 as that elminates that one too.
