It's about a 30 min walk from the tavern to the backalley where the latest murder occured, the housing here is build fairly close only 10 feet between each and under a feet from the end of the alley to the southern wall.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Lena finds what could be a tiefling's tooth, but other then that this looks just like any backstreet would in the slums.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"Well heck of a thing that is. I've been hit pretty hard and kept my teeth."
Looking at their guide.
"I know we didn't make the best impression so I appreciate you showing us this. Any better then average rumors as to who or what is doing this?"
Meliora Castafiore |
"I think I knocked one out of a girl once... It's all about luck, I guess."
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"I'm sorry no the victims seems to have been badly beaten, but other then that no one seem to have any idea who or what could be behind it. All we know is we find a new victim every few days which has made the older generation talk about the Slasher is back or some kind of a copycat."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Know: Local on The Slasher: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Meliora Castafiore |
Knowledge (local) The Slasher: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Jack Duncloak |
Knowledge (local; The Slasher): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 (+2 if the Slasher is/was human)
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Well that +2 will help I am sure Jack.

The Temple Hill Slasher was the infamous Kintargan murderer, a man who was executed 116 years ago but whose legacy lives on as an enduring urban legend. Details on how he killed people are vague because the civil war has destroyed most of the original reports on the killer. He was a professor at the Alabaster Academy, something the school still suffers from right now and only get enough students to fill a third of it's roster.
Meliora Castafiore |
Oh right... that was why she went to the ol' Thrice Damned House of Learning instead of Alabaster Academy. The serial killer on the staff sort of soured it for her.
"Probably a copycat. By now, he'd have passed through the boneyard twice over after his execution, or else died of old age again."
Then, after a moment's thought:
"I think we may need to break curfew this time, guys."
Lena Silas |
"Perhaps. Lina says to Meliora.
She looks at Zey, "Any chance we can find lodgings near here? Then we don't have to run halfway across the city in the middle of the night. I don't think we need much just a room we can all fit in."
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"It should be possible but you'll find beter sleeping arrangements in temple hill only about half an hour from here. But may I inquire into what you are planning for your next move?" Zea responds to Lena.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"A question, well two, Zea, if you don't mind. How enforced is the curfew here? Given that a murder moves freely I should think not so strict. Also, do you know anyone that could help make me look like one of your people? I cannot ask one of you to be bait but can accept the risk myself."
My thought would be that I, or maybe Zea if she offers, could lure the murder out? Walk the places that the murder has happened with the rest trailing quite a distance behind or lurking nearby.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Canacha doesn't find any tracks that standout.
Zea thinks for a moment. "I think it's enforced the same way as other areas, and we don't know when the murders happens. We stumple upon the bodies at different hours of the day I guess some of these alleys you could kill someone in the middle of the day and escape if you know which ones are rarely used. I don't know if that would work, and I think you'll have a hard time asking for help around the slums for that kind of job."
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"Hmm I'm not sure, I do have a few ideas of who could be helping. Give me untill the morning to try and ask them before I introduce you to them, with the murders going on, they are even more protective around outsiders then normal so I think they would be easier to talk with about this if I go alone to them." Zea suggest, she looks like she wants to help you but she also has to take care of the tieflings she thinks might help.
You can go adn rest for the night or attempt to patrol the nursery if you want to have a look at the activity during the night.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"I'm running a small errand in the morning so we can meet at the bleakbrigde?" Zea suggests.
It's the bridge across the Yolubilis River
Who had the rebellion sheet? I like to add a link to it on the description so I can easily find it.
Meliora Castafiore |
It's also linked on her page on the lefthand side.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
"That sounds like a good plan, you can go to your homes but I think I will head back to the base for the night."
Meliora Castafiore |
Meliora gives the old double facepalm right about here.
"Yes, I am also going to go home as well, instead of to a place that doesn't actually exist because we definitely do not have a base unless you want to call the place where I stash my booze our base due to it always being where we wind up after a hard day."
--or so she says into her hands. 'We have got to be the worst rebellion in Kintargo history...'
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Meliora gives the old double facepalm right about here.
--or so she says into her hands. 'We have got to be the worst rebellion in Kintargo history...'
I guess I should have added once the group is alone.
Meliora Castafiore |
Yes, I thought she mentioned it while the Tiefling was around. Ignore mine, then!
Meliora Castafiore |
Meliora also heads back to base for a good night as well.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Jack and Canacha are you also going back to the base? I need to know where everyone is going since we are getting close to curfew.
Jack Duncloak |
Jack's got a flat in Redroof, so he'd likely go there, unless the rest of the party's staying together...in which case he's accompany them back to HQ.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
You manage to get safely back to the Longroads coffee house a little while after curfew, but you managed to avoid the only patrol you encountered on your way.
I was planning to add a random encounter here, but I haven't been able to access any site with google in it's name all day so saving it for another time.
Lena Silas |
The next morning Lena wakes up and completes her prayers. "Do we trust Zea? I doubt she will turn us into Thrune and his allies, but she might be setting us up for a mugging. What does everyone else think?"
Meliora Castafiore |
"I think I've got an extra dash of color spray prepared just in case. I'm quick enough on the draw that an ambush probably won't work that well. If I suddenly call up a big bundle of fog, assume things are about to go bad."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Mic does her morning stretching.
"I am sure she won't turn us in. A setup? Well somehow I don't think a mugging would go so well for the muggers." she smiles "It would be a shame to thrash some poor residents of the town. Lets be sure before we act, better I take a punch in the mouth then we attack wrongly."
After eating and checking her gear she is ready to move out.
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
When you are all ready you make it to the bridge and pay the toll to travel across (1 cp), but you can't see Zea anywhere yet.
Lena Silas |
Lena pays the toll complaining under her breath about the cost. She starts looking around for Zea as she wanders around the area. She's also listening for any interesting rumors.
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
Lena hears that they found a body in the Devil's Nursery early this morning and it's starting to spread fear among the populace.
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Paying the toll as well, and paying for the rest of the group as well, Mic's good mood falters.
"Blasted curfew. Sends us scurrying and someone else dies. Even money it was our contact."
she pauses
"Well, we may as well look don't you think."
Meliora Castafiore |
"Guess so. If she's dead, we're hanging out tonight to see what we can see."
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
As the group stands around discussing the news they heard from the people passing the bridge, a familiar face rushes towards them looking like she just tumbled out of bed to run here to meet the group. "I almost forgot I promised to meet you here today, it's been a hectic morning when a local cleric finding a dead body in the far end of the Nursery. It's not a fresh one might have been there a day or two before being discovered." Zea says to the group as she starts fiddling with her hair have suddenly remembered she never did do that earliere.
Meliora Castafiore |
"That would do it..." Meliora gives a tiny nod. "Alright then, you said you had some information for us... right?"
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"Oh right, I'm sorry I couldn't get a hold of the person I thought about before the curfew last night, so I planned to do it this morning. But things got hectic this morning and I didn't get a chance to talk with him. But I can try take you to an alchemist I know he is useal nearby the nursery, if he can't help perhaps out tailor can help dress you as one of us." Zea answers Meliora.
Canacha Bais |
sense motive: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (9) + 0 = 9
Zea seems ... different how different?
perception for the people passing about: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
"Ugh its too early and too bright for this."
She grumbled pulling her hat lower as if to try and shade her eyes more... though she was really just trying to hide her glances all about looking for anything suspicious
Lena Silas |
"Thank you for your help. I'd like to speak to your contacts. Can you tell us about the latest murder while we travel?"
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"Same as the others pretty beaten up, probably some Thrunies drunk on power but we have not be able to figure anything out. More and more people are staying inside at night, the victims so far have all be traveling alone after curfew so we have no eyewitnesses."
Micheria "Mic' Musca |
Mic nods when Zea arrives.
"Good, your not dead. I thought our poking might have... well never mind you get it right. If there are less people out the killer may expand and be harder to catch. Maybe I should try and disguise myself and walk the streets."
Clearly agitated Mic is grasping at straws.
Meliora Castafiore |
Grasping nothing, that's actually a really good idea in Meliora's view.
"We'll stay together as a group just around the corner, you loiter, and between your fists being lethal weapons and the rest of us being there to support you... That might just work."
Jesper Roland Sørensen |
"You look like one that whomever is doing the killings would regret to target." Zea says give Mic a look up and down wihle they are walking.
Zea shows you the way to an older house at the outskirts to the Nursery and leads you all inside where she goes down to a part of the sewer that was once an old part of time. She stops before leading closer to a market you can see around 30-40 feets ahead. "This is my underground contact, you have to decide if you want to deal with him before we go any further. The Newt market is a underground facility which sells potions and the like no question asked, better be on your best behavior rumor has it if you offset the Newt in any way you may find the potions you buy have poison in them instead."
Jack Duncloak |
Jack nods at Zea and takes the lead, trying to convince the Newt or his agent that the group means no harm or disrespect and merely wants to investigate the murders and make the streets safe again.
