The Abrasax is nothing if not patient. It observes the offerings of the goblins and chuckles mentally as it witnesses the second takeover of a mortal soul by his fellows. This day was going so well!

Just to keep us up to moment:

Yeerk is laying in wait in the Cistern's pool..
General Tsao is possessing a spider, and climbing up to the top of the cavern.
Itzal has just bodysnatched the lone goblin at the edge of the pool, his comrades dragging heavy sacks of offal in the vicinity of their shrine.
Abrazax has a truly AWESOME guise on, just waiting to be noticed by the goblins when they drop their burdens...
NS 3.0 is hovering near the top of the cavern, able to see eveything moving beneath it.

The Goblins, once messily divesting themselves of their garbage -- spill piles of soiled paper, rags, heaps of broken glass... splintered furniture... it seems plenty of what might have once been of value has been ruined and discarded as a matter of course for these little devils... now spread in a growing mess near their shrine.

One by one they see the gem, and it is glaringly obvious all four of them are bewitched, only one having any doubts about the possible danger associated with such a find. Nervously in broken common, he speaks to his comrades, even as they ALL take steps towards the stone on the shrine...

"Now guys... GUYS! shudden we be tellin' 'ista Gorefeen? Or to Mum? Gorefeens idea to build shrine... an' mumsiz ones that MADE IT... What if it belong to the deadlies? You really gonna touchating?!" --

"Bunkavore! You take pee or take all the pees? Come here! Bigs imports!"

He smirked to himself before dropping it. Turning, he called back in goblin, "Wat big imports?" He started making his way there. Trying for now to pretend to be his host.

Bluff to pretend to be Bunkavore: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18

The Abrasax sits, mentally coiled like a snake, ready. It would prefer the doubter, and subtley shifts its fire's glow to ensnare that goblin, though any will do.

It's the "hesitant one" that makes the grab first -- dissuading the whole way, he never takes one step back, and even goes as far as to stick Preet with a "Pickle-grabber" (a icepick like tool goblins use to get things from places their small stature normally makes complicated, like the bottom of a barrel, from whence the tool was named) so as to grab it first...

Abrasax, if you are attempting to hijack, this fellow just rolled a 4 on his will save...

Itzal begins the first part of what might prove to be a many, many act play -- Outwardly, nothing seems amiss, his gait is the same, his grin is the same, he even waits the anticipatedly long period of time before wiping his trousers and tightening his twine belt before toddling over to the rest of the goblins. Flawless.

...Meanwhile, Bunklevore was in actuality screaming in the bowels of his own subconscious, watching as more and more of his higher-order thinking filled with hungry.... black... clouds... and then he was gone.

Away from the computer, so I missed my chance at the loner. :-(

Unit 254 is poised to attract the attention of the lone creature when he sees an animate shadow enter its body. a living shadow...interesting... Setting his sights on a new goal, he begins inching his way toward one of the other goblins.
Stealth: 1d20 + 19 ⇒ (20) + 19 = 39

Once he's within range, he'll wait for the Goblins to begin to leave and attempt to fascinate the rearmost one. Will Save DC 16 on the ability. The fascination occurs because Unit 254 is a weird-looking worm thing that speaks Goblin. And there I saw shinies in the pool, but you'll have to come closer so I can show you where...

Preet, never guessing two of his friends were already dead, scratches his chin, slack jawed. an Idea, rattling like a sling-bullet in a food-tin, begins to form in his head...

"I noh we'd supposed to give dis fing to mum, or Gorfeen... but what ya tell to the idea we leg it with this gem? They all all too captivated with the mysterious gem to look up... without a moment to spare after NS 3.0's hijacking capacity refreshes, it unceremoniously drops onto one of the unclaimed goblins, suddenly ending the conversation in a paroxism of terror for those not already converted...

It be a Gift! He proclaims, A gift from de Gods! They be speakin' in me head! Wonder things, bloody things!
The Abrasax tears all the information on this goblin's social structure from the goblin's imprisoned mind, eliciting panicked, sobbing mental screams, We needs to get it Gorfeen! And Mum! Next, he rips a battle song from its place and starts to sing, Goblins rip and goblins tear! Gibins pull out all yer hair!.

Has NS 3.0 successfully infested the other goblin? If so, whats its name?

Even if Preet has his shield ready, it would have been easy. The swarm dropped upon him, and the last thing he saw before a sleep from which he would never awaken was an insideous endless line of 1s and 0s... as a goblin with contempt for all writing, it was a particularly artistically cruel demise... Later, while waiting in line in the afterlife for judgement by Pharasma, of the few goblin souls he saw as he made his way, none could boast that the last thing they saw was more traumatizing...

(NS 3.0 now controls a goblin)

The other two remaining goblins left with their own free-will look to their comrades... something is very wrong... reflexively sensing motive, THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS GOING ON. As would be natural, they defer to the bossiest and the cleverest goblin in sight -- and both of those goblins are already dead.

(Free surprise round to wrap them up, one looks like he's going to run, the other looks like he wants to grab the stone)

You have possessed "Preet" -- while not an exceptional goblin by any means, he's a little bit stockier, and by goblin standards, is a deep thinker... It was he... she? (you better check, I'll let you determine gender) it was THEY that tried to put forth the idea of fleeing with the gem, before you wiped them out.

Abrasax, your rallying would be quite compelling if it didn't seem wholly out of place with a monstrous swarm dropping on a confederate and crawling metallic things burrowing into all his orifaces.

Unless you want to try and sell the lie of the century that he's somehow ok, a story that is NOT going to hold up to scrutiny... you're not wresting influence from these guys. You might convince them you're on the level by running away with them, but these goblins have officially moved into "fight or flight"...

(Help them feel they've navigated the threat, and you can assert a higher social dominance, potentially)

Still holding off, Yeerk?

The Abrasax lifts the gem on high and proclaims, The gods say, "RUN!".
It will lead the way right by Unit 254, giving its comrade the opening he needs before ripping the way home from his host's mind and running like a mad-goblin back to their clan with tales of prophesee and gory and blood.

Don't you have add'l traits or abilities that would modify a lie further? (just asking) if so.. incorporate them. That stuff should be "Front end" until I'm familiar enough with everyone's character to bake the modifiers by rote. ... Ie, are you accounting for silver tongue? Convincing lie?

If you're happy, I'm happy Tsao... like I said, it's sandbox -- so there is a lot of potential for where you guys will want to take it. That said, there is a whole lot going on in the world whether you decide to do anything about it or not. :D

I just used base mod as they don't seem Oppressed. I've ready added the constant modifiers for the static +10. Also not certain what you mean by front end. Silver tongue, check. Convincing lie only gives a bonus if someone else is repeating the lie.

Abrasax bluff 15 + 2 (silver tongue? or am I wrong?)- convincing lie would not apply... yet = 17... -10 (far-fetched that this is ok)
vs sense motive... -1, to beat a seven... one rolls a 3, the other, a 4. Unbelievable.

The remaining goblins bow, and scrape at the altar. One of them looks to Abrasax sideways, visibly frightened... snot pouting from his nose and drool falling from his mouth. He has no idea what's going on... he just knows it's the truth, and it's larger than he can really understand. Divine things are at work here. And being a pawn is an arrangement these goblins are thoroughly familiar with....

Right now all the goblins are under control and will dance to whatever tune you're playing, for the moment. As you have not adequately explained the phenomenon, the kind of story they tell, while convincingly truthful, may be confusing or slower (Circumstance) to adoption. That works for me. :-)

His voice - unused for so long - was easily drowned out by Abrasax's presence. Undeterred, Unit 254 begins to crawl to one of the creatures' enormous ears. good things come to those who wait...

Unless these are super Goblins, I don't think they can hit my Stealth DC - even if I roll a '1'. If the one does notice me, I'll mention Lamashtu to give me the time I need to enter the auditory canal.

Between Preet and "The hesitant one" (Neppamuk?) the group is starting to rally up to go back to "Camp" with the stone. Itzal's goblin is an unknown quantity, as he must decide if he stays or goes, and if he stays, you may need to scaffold your deceit better to explain his not coming back with his patrol. This is also Yeerk's last chance to get an easy jump on a goblin.

The goblins are new in this cavern, and are actually native to a forest, on the surface, relatively far from here. As such, you will need to make a Knowledge Geography roll to coallate the fragmented info they have... but in loosest terms, they are part of a warband, that came to the caves to find out what some kobold mercenaries that historically had contracts to harass their tribe. The kobolds suddenly stopped harassing, and were overheard talking about a new contract, better than fleecing poor-fortuned goblins. The warband is here to get intel, ruin any kobold plan or complicate relations with their new employer, and if possible, befriend a clan of orcish heavy-infantry that was known to hail from here. They are presently based where those orcs once lived, but their barracks are abandoned... but the good news is it looks like it was destroyed in a fire. So at least there's that...

In the future, roll stealth for my benefit because if nothing else it works for me to establish just how well you're hidden. but I threw the dice behind the screen and yes, you slip unfelt, unheeded, and unnoticed into one of the goblin's ears, pushing your way past an inner ear mold and some other kind of ear-canal blood parasite.

All goblins are regular goblin profiles, but for intents and purposes, Itzal's gobbo is "the tough one" and Abrasax's is "The clever one", and is one of the handlers for the warband's fighting dogs.

Geography: You not only know ABOUT these places, as stated above, but have a good idea where they are in relation to each other. The tunnels between Cistern and "Old Barracks" are tricky, but you figure you could traverse them without getting lost. The goblins are new to the area and have not explored far yet, so that's the best of what you've got there -- saving perhaps that these goblins entered the caves from ABOVE the old barracks, where a cave system rises above sea-level and into the body of a mountain. There was potential points of interest, but the goblins did not investigate.

So... it has been stated that Abrasax and NS 3.0 intend to lead what they can of the squad back to their camp... But where does that plan put a giant spider, or is Tsao have other plans? What about Itzal? Yeerk?

Where/how would we set that up? Is it wrong to keep that in the recruitment thread, now that we are likely not recruiting at least for the moment?

Unit 254 wrote:

Kusst. He doesn't talk much. He likes goblin fighting dogs, but they bite him a lot. He has a reputation for surviving bad odds, so other goblins used to tease him -- Now they think that's unlucky as he's outlasted most of his tormentors. Good other goblins don't bother so much, good they learned to fear him. More time for petting goblin dogs. Ouch.

Preet begins to drag her cohorts back into the river tunnel... it's wet in the low tunnel, but the goblin meat-jacket is a good insulator.

Itzal, and Tsao are left to catch up or do as they will. Yeerk's intentions as of the moment the cistern was left, are unknown.
