GM Niles |
Sorry, Gilmork really didn't specify what he was doing earlier with his stealth roll...and he hasn't posted anything since. I guess I'll assume he goes up one floor.
Gilmork goes up the stairwell quite stealthily and goes to the third level, which Silas knows to be Vade's personal quarters. A wooden door with iron bands is closed, however the stairwell continues to the fourth floor.
Does anyone cast detect magic on the closed door? If so

Gilmork |
Sorry, We've had a power outage and internet problems due to the warm weather for a few days, yesterday completely no internet.
Gilmork casts Detect Magic on the the closed door, but is unable to more accurately describe them. He stalks further up the stairs and looks and lsitens around for any signs of habituation and possible enemies on the next level.

GM Niles |
Gilmork creeps up the stone stairs and pauses at the next level, which is the living quarters of Savram Vade and any guests whom Sharvaros Vade invites. This level is more well lit...due to the moonlight streaming in from the giant crack in the side of the tower.
Gilmork hears movement, and unfortunately so does one of the harpies. Sisters, who creeps up the staircase? Gilmork hears
Gilmork |
Gilmork can see pretty good in dim lighting and stands still, nocking an arrow to his bow.
He murmurs a spell as silent as he can. Spell Failure 1-20: 1d100 ⇒ 97
Casting Barkskin for an additional +3 NA, AC 26, T 14, FF 22.
He then backs up slowly, trying to creep down the stairs and alert the others.
GM Niles |
Unfortunately, you cannot cast spells silently without the Silent Spell feat...
Intruder! Intruder! the cry goes up and the rustling of wings can be heard.
You all have one round before initiative begins.

Lucanor hasn't made a post in 48 hours, so I guess I'll move us along without him.

Maybe Luc's busy with a 4th of july weekend with the family.
Maybe...Luc and myself could've used some healing, prior to this thing. If that is possible still as a 'prior to'/or during the fight, it'd be nifty.
Hecktor double moves, ending his move on the stairs between 2nd and 3rd floor.

For his part Jaxom hurries up the stairs and uses the wand of haste to speed the elementals, Gilmork, and Silas.
Silas Hawkwinter |
As he runs up Silas thinks, 'Harpies eh? I know a few things about those hideous lying and flying women!' When he actually catches a glimpse of a real one, he shudders with revulsion.

Jaxom finishes his summoning and hustles up the stairs (you cannot haste anyone...because you are too far away. I double moved you instead.) The first elemental misses, the second hits Ludrillia for4, the final hits the harpy for 7.
Lucanor double moves right behind Silas
Gilmork fires two arrows, and just as one seems ready to pierce the skin of the harpy Ludrillia, she deftly bats it away.

Silas Hawkwinter |
Alas Silas does not benefit from Haste till next round.
Witnessing the frenzied attacks on Jaxom's elementals gives Silas pause for thought, 'Crikey! She's scary and smelly!' Shaking his head, Silas grimly plunges on committed now! His blades weave back and fourth in a defensive style, but now and then one flicks out trying to score a hit!

Lucanor fires his bow at the Harpy Haste: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (1) + 11 = 12 and because of a bunch of cover penalties both attacks miss.

Silas Hawkwinter |
Ah yes, my mistake :(
Jaxom, Stone-Twin |
Jaxom reaches down deep into the earth beneath the tower for its fiery blood, and channels that heat through the ancient rod in an empowered Burning Arc. The flames leap from the harpy with the sword, to the lesser harpy, and finally to monk.
