Male Human (Chelaxian ethnicity) Inquisitor-8 (Current HP 53/61)

Folks, I'm with family this weekend , fortunately for nicer reasons than a funeral, so I'm going to be a bit behind

Go enjoy it Lucanor.

Uh I don't even. Ah well thank you internet.

Fingers crossed somebody posts an interesting background.

Otherwise try sending a few pms to people you are with in a game, from whom you know are rgular posters.

Let me know when you are ready for the election.

Lets do it now? I don't think we need to RP the loot sale, and besides I don't know what items Michael wants to claim.

I really would like to get resolution on that however since I'd like to know what my crafting budget is.

Male retired & married fighter Fighter 8 HP 82/82 F+10/R+6/W+4 30ft AC24/14/22

Sure, i'll sort out the specifics of the trained animal i'm going to buy tonight.

Male Human (Chelaxian ethnicity) Inquisitor-8 (Current HP 53/61)

Well, I'm behind on the down time and would like to do something with it, but I can't decide if I wanted Lucanor to
1) Get Rallah and her brother to safety in another bigger city with enough coin so they'd thrive
2) Take out Bloodeye (Might be something we would have to play out and thus time consuming) by spying on him, collecting evidence, and reporting him.
3) Stumping for the election (He isn't charismatic, but he does have some diplomacy) for those we hope to win while making sure no bribes are going on.

Or a mix

I'm going to try to get an updated/clean map of the rebuilt monastery made, but I make no promises.

Thanks Michael. Loot suggestion:

+1 Full Plate with Cold Resist 10 -> Hecktor
Quinn's Swords -> Silas (assuming we recruit, sell them otherwise)

+1 Frost Glaive -> SELL for 4154g
+1 Dagger of Spellstoring -> SELL for 4151g
Bead of Force -> SELL for 1500g
+1 Battleaxe -> SELL for 2310g
Bronze statuette of a warrior -> SELL for 15g
MW Light Mace -> SELL for 152.5g
MW Dagger -> SELL for 151g
scepter made of what look likes mithril and gold -> SELL for 600g
Ice Diamond x6 -> SELL for 2400g
Gems -> SELL for 600g
Gems -> SELL for 500g
+2 Fortification Breastplate -> SELL for 4750g

Total sale is 21283.5g split 5 ways that's 4256.7g each.

Michael needs 6740g but would only have 5910.7g leaving him 829.3g short. I don't think anyone is going to use Quinn's crossbow so selling that might make up the shortfall.

@Niles what is the crossbow worth?

Male Varisian Bard 8 | HP 54 | AC 22(27/17/25) (15t 20ff)| +5(7) fort +10(13) ref +7(9) will | +8 init +10 perc | Resource Tracker

Silas has 2017.02g, he will sell the gloves of Reconnaissance for 1000g, and he will gain 4256.7g from the loot split. Giving a new total of 7271.73g plus some more from the sale of the quinn's crossbow.

If we recruit:

Silas will attempt to craft:

Headband of Alluring Charisma + 2 (DC = 5 + CL 8 + 5 for not knowing Eagle's Splendor = DC18), cost = 2000g + 2 days
Belt of Giant Strength + 2 (DC = 5 + CL 8 + 5 for not knowing Bull's Strength = DC18), cost = 2000g + 2 days
Quick Runner’s Shirt (DC = 5 + CL 5 + 5 for not knowing Haste = DC 15), cost = 500g + 2 days + 1/2 day

Silas will buy in Almas:
1250g - chain shirt +1

Retraining feats:
Retrain cost = 10 × your level × the number of days to retrain

Retrain feat = 5 days, and he will retrain the two spell focus feats to Lingering Performance & Arcane Strike

Retrain two feats = 2 * 10 * 5 * 5 days = 500g

Retraining spells:
Bards are allowed to retrain one spell for free at level 5

Cacophonous call -> Mirror Image

Retraining stats:
Silas would be rebalancing Str and Cha. I don't know what that would cost - up to GM Fiat I think.

Costs:
2000g - headband of alluring charisma + 2 (crafted)
2000g - belt of giant strength + 2 (crafted)
500g - quick runner’s shirt (crafted)
1250g - chain shirt +1 (bought)
0g - retrain 1 spell
500g - retrain two feats
?g - retrain dropping Cha and Wis (slightly), bumping Str

I may not be able to afford to all that crafting and retraining.

If we do not recruit:

I'll need to get those DCs up to make my limited spells count.

Sell Quinn's Swords for 6155g, split 5 ways that's 1231g extra, leaving Silas with 8502.73g plus some more from the sale of Quinn's crossbow.

Craft: Headband of Alluring Charisma + 4 (DC = 5 + CL 8 + 5 for not knowing Eagle's Splendor = DC18), cost = 8000g + 8 days

Buy wand of enlarge person (I need something else to do in combat since I can't cast a spell every round, so I might as well buff Hecktor even more) 750g which I suspect will be affordable

Encounter Map

I'm gonna go ahead and say that Hecktor probably doesn't need any coin. Seeing as he has about triple the wealth of any of you. I'd like everyone to go ahead and value up all their items they have currently, not counting anything from the previous adventure. Post that value here please, this is to see how we stand WBL and to see what an incoming player would get.

About the election, I found Nicholas Logue's* post from 5 years ago talking about a module he had brainstormed dealing with an election in Falcons Hollow. I pmed him asking for his thoughts on how that might go down.
Alternatively, I found This book which actually has really detailed election rules. I haven't purchased the book yet but I might and could use some variant of that ruleset.

So give me a few days to figure out how to do the election. Unless you guys are itching to get it over with....and then we can just handwave the election and I'll let you know the results =)

Also, I have an awesome idea to incorporate the fey foundling guy into the campaign. Realm of the Fellnight Queen....

*Logue wrote or cowrote the Falcon's Hollow modules D1,D1.5 and E1.

The Crossbow is a +1 Feybane Light Crossbow...so whatever that is worth.

Yeah Yeah I know, I actually planned on Quinn giving it to someone to fight the damn Cold Rider. I completely forgot about it until AFTER the round where he got critted and killed. Then it just seemed too late.

Depending on which scrolls Gilmork is keeping for the party, I've basically got the same worth of items as with which I joined you guys. Though -750gp as the wand of CLW is gone.

About 6000gp or so, as Gilmork has his own armour that upgrades along with him and he uses wooden weapons, maybe later getting even them for free. Also this doesn't count in the gp we found and he has left on his own person.

Encounter Map

Ok, I'm impatient and I have a bunch of disposable income. I bought the book and I'll post some relevant stuff down here.

Preparing for the Election:

The first step in running an election
is to decide how long the election
campaign is. This can be from a few
days to a couple of years, but the
most convenient period for roleplaying
games is about 30 days.
The GM sets the election period.
Next, the GM determines the starting
vote score for each candidate in
the election. This score is equal to
the character’s Diplomacy skill
bonus plus his total character level.
NPC candidates who do not regularly
appear in the campaign do not
have to be fleshed out in detail, but
the GM should decide what each NPC’s character level
and Diplomacy score are.

Winning Votes:

There are two approaches to winning an election: public
appearances and private meetings with influential leaders.
How often the characters pursue each option depends on
how democratic the society is and how large the election
will be. A general election in a democracy involves many
public appearances and a few private deals, while choosing
the chairman of a legislative assembly may depend
almost entirely on back-room deals.
Public appearances are like influencing factions in the
faction voting system, while private meetings are like
gaining votes in the individual voting system. What’s different
is that the election system tracks each character’s
overall progress instead of trying to keep track of many
shifting allegiances.

Public Appearances:

Once per day of game time, each candidate may make a
roll to increase his vote score by making public appearances.
The character must encounter at least 50 character
levels worth of potential supporters that day in order
to earn a roll. This could be five 10th-level characters,
fifty 1st-level characters, or any other combination of
characters whose levels add up to 50 or more.
The candidate may meet potential supporters at a rally,
a series of meetings, or just walking down the street
pressing the flesh. (Any or all of these activities can be the
beginning of a detailed adventure, of course.) Depending
on whom the candidate meets and under what circumstances,
decide how friendly the audience is and what
skill the character uses most to win support.
The character may use Bluff, Diplomacy, or Perform (oratory),
to influence his potential supporters. They may be
classified as Hostile, Unfriendly, Indifferent, Friendly, and
Helpful. Once the relevant skill and attitude have been
determined, the character makes a skill check on the table
below. This table is intended for PC candidates. You may
use it for NPC candidates as well, or you may simply roll
1d4–1 for each candidate on each day spent campaigning.
The result is added to the NPC’s vote score.

Private Meetings:

Instead of taking her chances with the public, a candidate
may build up her vote score by meeting privately
with an influential leader. This meeting replaces the
daily public appearances roll described above with a skill
check to overcome the Shift Resistance of a powerful
non-player character. The NPC must be in a position to
influence other voters — senior politicians, guild masters,
crime lords, and religious leaders are all typical possibilities.
Wealthy supporters are also likely in elections
where money is an important resource.
When choosing the private meeting approach, the candidate
agrees to risk between 1 and 3 points of her vote
score. The character also announces which leader she
wishes to approach for support.
Figure the target leader’s attitude, Shift Resistance, and
leverage point using the tables below. (The attitude and
Shift Resistance tables are similar to those of the individual
voting systems, but there are minor differences.)
Once the target leader’s statistics have been set, the candidate
chooses an approach based on the tactics
described in the individual vote system. If the candidate
succeeds at her influence roll, she adds double the points
she risked to her vote score. If she fails, she loses the vote
points that she risked.
Determine an attitude for the target leader NPC randomly
by rolling 1d8, or choose an attitude from the ones listed
on this table. When dealing with well-established and
familiar NPCs, choose an attitude based on the NPC’s
previous interactions with the player characters

Encounter Map

The Election:

Will consist of 10 "rounds" each side will act using actions.

Move: Determine the votes held by an NPC.
Determine the vote standing.
Determine how an NPC feels about a set of candidates.

Standard:
Meet with an NPC (attempt to sway and gain votes)
Hold a Public Appearance

Each action gains or loses vote points. Deldrin and Gared start with 9 and 4 respective vote points. Kreed and Payden have an amount determined by me.

Each NPC is worth 1d4+ a different modifer of votes. Each public appearance can gather different votes depending on the location and people you are speaking to. Any of you can participate in the election on any side (yeah right) however, if you don't do well you risk losing vote points for your side. Key skills include Diplomacy, Bluff, Sense Motive, Perform, Intimidate(sometimes),

We'd want bloodeye & vamros out of the picture.

Percy/Laurel are on our side.
Lady Cirthana too.
I'm guessing Silas can persuade Vade to vote for us.

This leaves the merchants & wood assorted folk to be persuaded.
Of which i reckon the Gadsel woodworker and Tabrik might be a little less tricky, they don't like their hard hard work to be greatly profitable only for Payden or Kreed only i think.

I guess Tabrik will not easily be swayed over to the Consortium side of things as well Hecktor.

Well if we had someone who had a low Charisma score we could let him promote for Kreed and Teedum, hopefully letting them lose votes, but I think Niles is right, we're probably not like that.

Any ideas what to do about bloodeye's goons? It would be a shame if bloodeye was indisposed for a week or so but I can't think of any way of doing that which won't bite us.

Maybe we should setup a sting and get him arrested but he'd need to commit or attempt to commit a really serious crime. Perhaps if we insist his girls get a vote...

What would make a good thing is to have Gared take care of those goons beating up on other citizens. Shows people he is the one for the Sheriff job, also voicing what we've heard about their intimidation and scare tactics we could use that against them.

Telling people that Baleson and Gared won't stand for such actions when elected and are a safer choice.

I'm not sure about Gared's stealth checks, but he and Gilmork could patrol after the meetings and try to catch any of the goons they encounter bullying other people.

We should get the Freejacks and the high market organizer on our side as well, the Freejacks might not need much convincing, but the more neutral parties need to be swayed to our side.

Also guys, the downtime rules also apply here. I'll let you earn influence to apply towards the election. 2 influence = 1 vote. However, you cannot simply buy the influence, you have to earn it. That would represent your talking to people and getting them to vote a certain way.

Male retired & married fighter Fighter 8 HP 82/82 F+10/R+6/W+4 30ft AC24/14/22

Would helping with manual labor around town help us?

Encounter Map

Influence: Appraise, Bluff, Craft, Diplomacy, Handle Animal, Heal, Intimidate, Knowledge (any), Linguistics, Perform, Profession, Ride.

Take a read of this

Any of those above skills will gather Influence, as will using your BaB as the modifier to represent your training people in combat. The downtime rules are very vague and allow the GM to allow almost anything. So just say what you wanna do and I'll tell ya what to roll. Just remember Influence represents your ability to get other people in the settlement to perform favors for you or use their skills to accomplish things (as opposed to Labor, which involves hard physical work). This includes getting a merchant to change the terms of a contract, or convincing a politician to do you a favor.

Niles is the earning of votes via downtime rules in addition to our current actions or is another one of the 10 actions allowed?

Also I'd like to give Lucanor a chance to catch up so I'll not post anymore actions today.

Male Human (Chelaxian ethnicity) Inquisitor-8 (Current HP 53/61)

Okay, I'm very sorry. Storms rolled through, power rolled out and other fun stuff.

I put up a hastily cobbled post for Lucanor's general activities. I didn't want to assume they'd work per se, so whatever our good DM would come of them.

I actually think finding out who the goons threatening folks for Bloodeye are should be relatively easy for Lucanor given his spells, class abilities, and skills.

Earning votes via downtime is not part of the election activities per se. However, if you are spending time meeting people and stumping then you aren't earning influence. So however many actions you spend working on election activities you can spend 10-those actions, days earning influence.

IE Hecktor has only used one action, he can earn 9 days worth of influence to "buy" votes.

Deveera Gadsel woodworker, Head of the unofficial “Crafts Guild”
Jak Crimmy owner of Jak A’ Napes Inn
Tabrik Splint leader of the Free Jacks
Ayda Vorshin High Market Organizer

I suspect the free jacks may control a good number of votes, although it's not clear if we know how to approach them.

We will need to organize some public rally's too, with free food and entertainment - that sort of thing.

I thought 18355g that seemed rather expensive! It's actually 8355g so the available gold is actually 25451g.

Encounter Map

Going to post an election event recap here to keep track of party actions.
VP=Vote Points
1) Silas goes to Sharvaros Vade. Gains 4 VP
2) Hecktor goes to Laurel/Percy. Gain 4 VP
3) Gilmork goes to Jasin Greatoak. Gain 4 VP
4) Silas goes to Harg. Gain 2VP
5) Silas uses his "Eagle Knight Gambit" costing the opposition a whopping 9 vote points, as Bloodeye lays low.

The party still has 5 actions. As well as Hecktor/Gilmork 9days and Lucanor 10days being able to earn/use Influence. If Hecktor and Luc want to do something with Bloodeye's goons to stop them a little more permanently then the opposition will lose even more votes as the physical intimidation ends.

Niles I think we should organise a Rally for Baleson (after a bit more prep work). We've earnt a bunch of influence in previous downtime. I was wondering if we could use that to help feed and entertain the masses?

Presumably we'd be using aid another actions to help his diplomacy?

Let me know how you want to do the good, greater or otherwise, Hecktor. My plan is to take your lead :)
