Ezren knows the following about Shadow Drake special attacks:

Shadow Blend (Su) In conditions of illumination other than bright light, a shadow drake disappears into the shadows, giving it concealment (20% miss chance). It can resume or suspend this ability as a free action.

Speed Surge (Ex) Three times per day as a swift action, a shadow drake may draw on its draconic heritage for a boost of strength and speed to take an additional move action in that round.

Stygian Breath (Su) As a standard action, a shadow drake can exhale a ball of black liquid that explode into a cloud of frigid black mist. This attack has a range of 60 feet and deals 2d6 points of cold damage (Reflex DC 14 half) to all creatures within a 5-foot-radius spread. The mist snuffs out light sources in the area effect, extinguishing nonmagical light sources and dispelling light spells of 1st level or lower. Once a shadow drake has used its stygian breath, it cannot do so again for 1d6 rounds. The save DC is Constitution-based.

The Overseer Box Text suggested that it was a few hours from midnight, so the sun has most definitely set by now. All these factors are in place.

Skye knows that they are small dragons of the cold subtype. In addition to their shadow blend defensive ability they are immune to cold, paralysis, sleep. They have no SR or DR.

575 laments with a frown, not at all happy to be facing a flying enemy. Little of his training prepared him for foes he could not reach.

He quickly moves over to get between the purplish-colored one and the others, trying to at least provide a more tempting target, pulling out one of his javalins as he goes. With a mighty heave, he launches it towards the easternmost drake.

Ranged vs purple, range: 1d20 + 6 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 6 - 2 = 19, for 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage (20% Miss Chance:1d100 ⇒ 2)

But he misjudges its location in the dim light of the setting sun, and the javelin sails off into the distance without hitting its target! (coises!)

Oh dear. Ranged combat. I do need to do something about solving Zav's ineptness in that regard, and soon.

Zav grumbles as the shadow drakes swoop ahead, then draws his bow. "I think I remember how to use this thing...? It's too bad I cannot launch my claws at it. Now that'd be cool."

Fung sighs with relief as Zavubak tears apart the remaining ectoplasmic human. He looks to Skye, intending to seek help to activate Fung's healing wand, but the flying drakes swoop in too quickly.
I figured with one round, there isn't enough time to withdraw the wand, move to Skye, hand over to him and have it activated. :)

Hearing what Skye shared about the drakes, he mutters, "We need to spread out." He moves away from the party past the tents, then launches a bolt of lightning at the nearest (red) drake.

Red is 15ft high, and Fung is 25ft away by ground distance. By pythagoras theorem (hey, I remember my high school stuff), it's within 30ft. :)

Between Ordeals...

After the weird glowy goo ghost and the floating armor are vanquished, Corona hesitates. Surely there'll be more foes to fight and some of them are injured - but on the other hand, an extra boost in fighting prowess could help prevent additional injuries before they happen. But on the other, other hand, she'd once heard some poor soul raving on a street corner about how trying to patch someone up in the middle of a fight was like trying to bail water out of a leaky boat - it could work but there were usually other, better options.

Corona frowns as the drakes fly overhead and she flicks her wrist, dropping a wand into her hand. "I've got a crossbow but I'm not the best shot with it..." Then, her expression brightens as she waves the wand over the group.

Corona will pull her wand of Bless and use it on the party...except maybe Fung, since he's moved. Note to self: 41 charges remaining.

The party realizes that other than Xuan Fung and Ezren, they're not as well equipped for ranged combat with flying foes. 575 would have hit, but the drake he was aiming for slipped in and out of the shadows.

Purple does a fly-by attack, dropping a ball of stygian mist on Corona, Zavubak, Ezren and Skye.

Stygian Mist Cold Damage: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 1) = 7
DC 14 Reflex for half

It would have snuffed any ongoing first level light spells too.

The Purple Shadow Drake calls to 575 in Draconic.

Fung's heart is still racing from narrowing ducking under the claws of the drake. He quickly turns around and fires a lightning bolt at the same drake. However, he spun around too fast, and his shot goes wild, smashing into one of the tents.

575 shows teeth in return as he easily ducks beneath the talkative dragon's attack as it flies overhead. He is finally starting to get its measure as he steps up beside Zavubak.

"Found it!" Corona exclaims happily, pulling out the scroll they'd found earlier. Her eyes dart from one drake to the other - both of them look injured...but Zav and 575 seemed to be having more trouble than Fung and Skye.

She begins reading from the scroll and though the actual magic would normally be beyond her means, she still knows enough to be able to understand and activate it.

"Kaboom!" she exclaims, pointing at the Purple Drake as a cacophony of sound blasts the creature.

Sound Burst (Sonic): 1d8 ⇒ 1

Except it's clearly not as loud as she'd been expecting. "Um...wasn't there supposed to be an earth-shattering kaboom?" she frowns. "That scroll was defective!"

I'm not entirely sure but I think it'd be maybe a DC 14 Fort save for the drake to avoid being stunned for a round. If the guys have already killed Purple, she'll target Red instead.

Skye lights up the Red Drake. Zavubak considers tossing away his uncooperative longbow. 575 and Ezren double team Purple, but it is still up, though looking ragged. Then Corona attempts Sound Burst on Purple, and gets off a tiny pop!

Purple flies painfully but defiantly as he circles overhead.

Fung sees the incoming breath and dives to one side. Together with the winds that surround him perpetually, he manages to avoid the bulk of the effect, but the icy breath still burns him.

Seeing Skye nearby, Fung moves away from him, fearing another breath attack, and sends another bolt at the flying (red] drake.
