Council Chairman |
I'm in a bit of a pickle because all three of you used my map. Rather than the follow-up maps, because you all posted probably at the same time. Arg, so I'm going to do the map. This means that the earth elemental will appear somewhere else, since her post was a few minutes before yours.
CONSOLIDATED MAP FOR RESOLVING THE ATTACKS YOU POSTED
(Using the above map to resolve the conflict) The earth elemental attacks the creature with William's face and still get's the benefit of flanking. The creature is very badly hurt by the elemental. Tristain misses. Calisenica cries and does a good job of it.
At this point, the crowd is going bonkers and cheering.
One of the monsters moves to attack Calisenica. (she takes 2 damage!) Another continues to attack Corey. (he takes 4 damage!), and the one hit by the earth elemental turns to fight the elemental as it hurt the monster so badly. (it takes 2 damage!)
CALISENICA
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
COREY
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 4
EARTH ELEMENTAL
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
COMBAT ROUND 10
Those in bold may act. Do not forget to take into account your condition.
William (full defense) & Earth Elemental
Phaedra - Protection from Evil
Corey
Tristain - Protection from Evil
Calisenica - OUCH!
Monsters!
William Silverheart |
William moves up, fighting defensively now instead of totally defensive, trying to give Phaedra a chance to better her odds against the creature near her.
The earth elemental winds up and swings again.
Rocky
Falcon Pawnch!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Council Chairman |
As you can see from THIS REVISED MAP, you have destroyed both of the monsters nearest you. The only one that remains is the one attacking Calisenica.
You swear that you can hear Thesling cry out "Noooo!" as you kill both of the monsters.
Phaedra Valerius |
Phaedra takes a catty corner step back to get a good swing in on the remaining creature. See, not so bad. We are all still alive. For now.
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 taking second roll
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 6

[dice=attack]1d20+2
[dice=attack]1d20+2 taking second roll
[dice=damage]1d10
What are you swinging at from there? The earth elemental?
Phaedra Valerius |
Oh, sorry, I play on my laptop and the map looks small on it and I confused the pics. Here is the new map with where I would have moved to.
Council Chairman |
The final monster resists your attempt to trip and Phaedra misses (and probably kicking herself for not charging the monster). The monster continues to attack the crying Calisenica, but it must be distracted and misses.
Claw 1: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Claw 2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 for Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 1
COMBAT ROUND 11
Those in bold may act. Do not forget to take into account your condition.
William (full defense) & Earth Elemental
Phaedra - Protection from Evil
Corey
Tristain - Protection from Evil
Calisenica
Monsters!
Jimmy Bodrick |
Calseinica continues to cry and calls out to the others for help: "I don't want to die yet! Save me!"
Despite her lack of tactical knowledge or experience in fights Calseinica tries to defend herself to the best of her abilities.
Full defense. Or maybe a weakened version of it?
William Silverheart |
William moves up behind Corey and Phaedra, going to assist Phaedra in trying to hit the last creature.
Aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
William looks to the elemental, commanding it to attack, and it lumbers forward in a heroic thumping charge towards the final Lemure.
+2 attack for charge, -2 ac for one round.
Hulk Smash!: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 Damage: 1d6 + 11 ⇒ (4) + 11 = 15
The elemental surges forward, and smashes into the creature with a sickening thud.
Council Chairman |
I'll give Calisenica +2 instead of +4.
William, in the future list your bonuses and specify if you are or are not doing a power attack (it is easier for me to keep track of if you say it each time, rather than assuming, as combat sequences can take a few days to resolve and I have to go back and think what you are doing or look at posts on different pages). Putting it in your bonus without specifying it will result in an auto-fail or mandatory re-roll (my choice) for incorrect modifiers. This is because I have enough things to keep track of, and checking everyone's modifiers is a lot of extra work I'd rather not do.
Phaedra, your attack hits but your bigger weapon didn't result in bigger damage unfortunately.
Phaedra Valerius |
because of course it wouldn't have mattered how much it lowered my ac since it can't hit me anyway.........
attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
damage: 1d10 ⇒ 3
Phaedra stabs at the summoned egg creature yet again, hoping to connect this time.
Tristain the Chalker |
Council Chairman |
Almost a kill steal, but not quite.
Council Chairman |
The trip succeeds. With the prone creature at very low health, when it stands you guys go after it and kill it. (I'm moving the game along, it was at 1 hp).
The crowd, which was going crazy at the end of the last act, are all standing and applauding. Two people try to rush the stage to be in your presence. Some of the stage hands move to the front to try to keep the crowd at bay. It's turned into a rock concert. (You automatically get a +1 to your performance, in addition to any acting rolls (DC described earlier) you make at the end of the act.)
The curtain drops and Delour refuses to go on stage and sing her song in between acts, knowing the crowd won't be quiet. Robahl says, "Well, that's decent acting for a bunch of newcomers. I guess it was acceptable." Thesling is not amused at Robahl's generous commentary, and adds, "You still have one more trial to endure. Don't get too cocky!"
Please spend today (Saturday) for in-between acts commentary/actions. We will begin the final trial Sunday. We're almost at the end of this section. Frankly, I can't believe you all have survived to this point. Well done. Don't forget to make your performance rolls (not you Jimmy). Even if one of you dies in the next act, it is most likely you'll still end up with a total greater than zero, resulting in a big loot windfall.
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristvalid gives his 'scythe a twirl, trying to dramatically spray the blood off the blade. He looks at his blade worriedly, pushing his unhappy thoughts aside until he completes the scene.
At least I can fight some. This part of 'acting' is pretty cool.
* * *Off stage...
"Can someone look at my weapon?! I don't think it's working right. I was hitting this things hard and my blade barely even hurt them."
Council Chairman |
Perform 1d20+13

Great job everybody! Phaedra, care to share the healing a bit please?
Nice roll, +2 more added (score total combined is +4, and with one more trial to go it should be easy to be in positive territory). I don't know if people want me to list their HP, so it's apparent that Corey, Phaedra, and Calisenica are in need of heals. The others seem to be only slightly bruised.
Corey Evander |

No chance on the assist from the other actors for a potential 30?
Jimmy Bodrick |
Jimmy will go around healing people with the spells he has left:
CLW, Calseinica: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 13/13 HP
CLW, Phaedra: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 19/20 HP
CLW, Phaedra: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 20/20 HP
CLW, Corey: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 ?/? HP
"Jimmy hopes you're feeling better now!"
Phaedra Valerius |
Perform (acting): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Looks like Jimmy dinked everyone with the clw wand, so I edited my bit about channeling out
"Great job everyone! Do you hear how loud they are cheering for us?"
Phaedra is all smiles now, never having an audience that large be that appreciative of her skills before.
Jimmy Bodrick |
No wand. Jimmy's an oracle and knows the spell itself. Out of level 1 spells though. So if anyone still needs healing someone will have to use a wand.
Phaedra Valerius |
Oh, in that case Phaedra would tell you to keep your spells and let her use the wand for now. No telling what else may happen later tonight, so best to not exhaust your spells. If you will allow Phaedra to stop you, I will roll the dice for her heals.
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristain again checks his blade, concerned with how well it is working.
"I can hear the cheering, but if my weapon doesn't work, we're going to see some archery on stage. I hope I'm not in the situation wherein I'm shooting into the audience."
Jimmy Bodrick |
The worst of what will happen this evening will be on stage, and Jimmy won't be joining you there. It seems unlikely to me there will be worse encounters directly after the play, which is why I decided to save some of the wand's charges.
Jimmy Bodrick |
Okay ;)
"Jimmy thinks you're welcome! Jimmy also thinks Corey should ask Phaedra to heal more if needed. Jimmy has no spells left!"
Jimmy then goes onto the stage to help the stagehands clean the mess. "Jimmy knows what he'd have done if on stage! Jimmy would've smashed everything!"
Tristain the Chalker |
Tristain checks his bow and arrows while backstage, making sure they are ready for fighting if he needs them.
"William, your little friends were really helpful out there. I don't think we would have survived without them," Tristain says, cheerfully and sounding hopeful.
"No matter that you can't make me act better...your poof friends did enough acting for both of us."
Council Chairman |
Robahl says, "Well, looks like everything on stage is cleaned up and ready to go. You all better get on stage, the curtain is about to rise. This is the penultimate act, and the final trial. Try not to screw it up...Thesling."
Thesling snarls at Robahls comments. Me screw it up?! How dare he talk to me that way!
William Silverheart |
William nods to Tristan. "I did what I could. But I wanted to save one of those spells for this act. Now I'm mostly spent magically. I will have to rely on you all to help me make it through this. And Tristan, its not that your weapon wasn't working right, those creatures resist physical blows unless you have a specific kind of weapon. Don't worry yourself about it."
William sighs and prepares himself.
Council Chairman |
ACT 6: TRIAL BY COMBAT AND LOVE
The curtain opens with all of you onstage except Jimmy, as the Baliff isn't in this Act. Thesling puts up his hand to try to quiet the crowd; they finally settle down.
HAANDERTHAN
Speaking directly to the crowd, Thesling says, "How can this be? Four trials broken, and still they prevail. Asmodeus smiles upon them. Does the Dark Lord truly know of my compact with the Abyss? It cannot be, or I am utterly undone. True or nay, I must try the last. I shall plunge their faith in pitch and acrid stew, and see if they hold to the cause."
Turning to the actors on stage (you), he says, "You sickly whelps profess undying devotion to one another. Another smoldering lie flung from your dark holes. You but conspire to confound this court and our Dark Majesty. ’Tis ye who contract with demon-spawn and seek my undoing, in service to some slimy mistress or master of the putrid Abyss. Your vile benefactors have thus far warded off justice’s dark hand, but let us see if you hold steadfast before the promise of oblivion."
William Silverheart |
William falls to his knees, bracing himself on Corey's waist, not just pretending to be exhausted, but feeling quite spent and tired in his person.
"More? I cannot last. My old heart gives out. Go on without me, master. I served your father faithfully. Alas, I am found lacking in the face of his half-breed son. The challenges, ever dire, cleave my soul from me. May Asmodeus keep me.
Corey Evander |
Corey helps William to his feet.
No foolish talk, old wizard. He pimp slaps William.
1d3 ⇒ 2 Non lethal
Haven’t you claimed immortality a thousand times to any bent ear?
In a mocking imitative voice like a little girl, Old Dentris Maltrada cannot die, ye said. I’ve eaten the heart of an ancient Red Wyrm, and warmed by his fire, my soul burns eternal.
Corey shoves William to the ground...Get up, my dear friend, more father to me, than ever any father was. Your duties are not abated. Your task is yet undone. and then helps him up and hugs him.
William Silverheart |
William takes back to his feet, and turns, glaring at Phaedra with eyes that scream indignance. He speaks a few words of magic, his hands waving menacingly. His eyes begin to glow a deep azure bluish color.
Casting detect magic
"Why you shiny beetle! You quivering pall-o-dine of a young whelp-turned-demigod! You plump kettle! I’ll bring the all-encompassing powers of a thousand worlds crashing down upon your head! The keening song of dead gods warble at my command. I’ll leave your mind a tatterdemalion of a sad rag. Die! Die, you say! Nay, not till I’ve seen the last oafish breath squeezed from your lungs by tongs of fire—you simpering Aro-din-din!"
Corey Evander |
Peace, old man. The pall-o-dine works a righteous healing upon your old bones—applying the only balm your withered heart desires—spitting ire and uncouth rage. Bile for balm, bile for balm—what a wolfish old man, a terror to kings and angels.
Turning to present William to the crowd and dragging him along to the center front stage...Ladies and gentlemen, I give you Dentris Maltrada. He knows no equal.
William Silverheart |
William shrugs off Corey's arms, brushing himself with as much dignity as he can muster, looking at the crowd before turning to Corey.
"Enough, pup! I am much abused."
He then turns to Phaedra, leveling a finger at her and a cold stare.
"Lay not your hands on me, pall-o-dine! I’ll rise without your young god’s urgings. I’ve work left indeed."
Jimmy Bodrick |
Calseinica places a hand on her chest and licks her lips. "Strange old wizard, loyal and dear heart. He’ll join us in the marriage bed and one last night of bliss will be his for the taking!"
