Markas wastes little time in bringing the giant war maul in a brutal swing across the torso of the nearest lizardman. The mighty weapon blasts the life from the humanoid before it realized it had been hit, sending the body flying to land almost at the far wall.
Latovius enters the room and fires a dagger that sinks hilt deep into the torso of the lizardman that had been opening the locked door. The lizardmen advance, one taking on Markas the other taking on Louis. Both land blows with their spears.

Louis lands a strong blow against the lizardman standing in front of him, his foe remains standing and appeared ready to retaliate with its spear when a dagger caught it in the neck. It fell to the floor dead almost instantly. Markas's foe wasted no time and landed a viscous blow felling the cleric. Louis watches his friend slump to the floor holding tight to the lizardman's spear buried in his chest.

Louis closes on the foe standing over the fallen Markas and dispatches him with a single well placed thrust. Louis looks down on his friend, there might be a chance to save his life still. "Markas had found a potion of healing in the blowhard's room, I think he had it with him." Latovius suggests while readying another dagger in the off chance that battle was not yet over.

Louis wastes no time in administering the healing potion to Markas after removing the spear from his chest. The wound closes and Markas's eyes open almost immediately. The unlocked northern door opens and a rather drowsy looking lizardman takes in the scene. A flying dagger takes it in the eye and it stumbles backward. "We have company! Markas stop loafing around and go get help!" Latovius says loudly after his throw, the thief wastes little time in retrieving his two previously thrown daggers.

Louis advances and blocks the doorway, he catches a whiff of foul water. The floor of this room is covered in sludge. 6 lizard-like humanoids reach for their weapons and attack! The one at the door with the dagger wound swings it's spear menacingly and Louis is lucky to block it with his shield. Another lizard man emerges through the second doorway into the grand hall.

Timonius speaks the arcane words of power to his sleep spell, centering the magical powers inside the room on the lizardman closest to the brackish pool. The wave of energies washes over all of the lizardmen and none can escape its effects. All fall to the ground fast asleep. Latovius wastes little time and hurries to the slumbering lizardman that had entered the room, the thief plunges a dagger into the base of the skull ending its life.
Louis, Markas are up

Markas the Wise |

With Latovius and Louis completing the unsavory act of ending the lives of the sleeping lizardmen, Markas sets to pulling the other bodies from the hallway into the lizardmen's room.
After that task is done assuming there are no other foes present Markas will start to search the lizardmen's room.

Timonius knocks repeatedly at the door with no answer, when trying the handle of the door he finds it unlocked. He tries to open the door but it only moves an inch before being stopped by something heavy on the other side. Given his feeble strength and old age Timonius decides against trying to shoulder the door open. "Who is there? Enter my room and I'll not hesitate to cut you down whatever you are!" A voice trying to sound brave but it is not Brion's answers from beyond the blocked entrance.
I don't think Timonius has encountered Erik yet. Erik's initial reaction to a stranger calling out to him and trying to enter his room isn't a very warm welcome. What do you do?
Louis and Latovius go about the grizzly task of dispatching the lizardmen before they awaken. No one had to look beyond Markas leaning against the war maul to realize that they would not have been spared if the shoe was on the other foot. Nothing of value or use beyond the spears and large clubs wielded by the Lizardmen is found.
About five minutes after the slaughter the southern door of the great hall opens and in walks Revit followed by the bully who had injured Markas and had been bested by Louis. "Markas, just the man I was sent to... what the hell happened here?" The armored man draws his longsword while Revit recoils and takes a nervous step backwards for the door. Latovius looks eager to do or say something...

The young man doesn't sound as worried as before but is being cautious. What do you do or say?
"Oh master Revit! It was horrible! We were going to the training room to prepare master Markas to do better in the tournament when all we did was walk out into your grand hall and we were assaulted by these lizardmen! Master Revit, master Markas was grievously injured by these savages but miraculously with the aid of Sir Louis they were able to defend themselves. Please master Revit, my master and I are in desperate need of work and our large families depend solely upon us to provide for their well beings. We thought that your lord would look with favor on master Markas and we might find employ in his illustrious forces if we could but meet and gift him with this relic of the Sword and Wand wars. We were told that it might be very valuable to collectors. Perhaps, you could take this dagger and present it to your Lord as a gift from us?" Latovius offered his blackened and jeweled dagger to Revit, the vile man's eyebrows arched with interest at the mention of valuables. Overcome by his greed the butler stepped forward and took the dagger from Latovius. "Let me tell you boys what I'll do. I'll take this here knife and give it to my lord as a gift from myself to him. When it comes time to consider who joins his forces I will recommend that you two make the cut. Heh! Thanks for the gift. Markas, bring your man here with you. You are up next." Revit's eyes were fixated on the valuable dagger as he turned to head out the door. Revit never saw the other dagger as the rogue drove it into his back killing him instantly.

There is a few moments of quiet before Timonius is spooked by Erik's left eye staring into his own from the other side of the crack in the door. "Well done Louis. Markas drag Revit's corpse to the castle doors and let me do the talking. Louis get ready to run in when fighting breaks out. We need to take those doors and bar them closed to delay the black knight's forces." Latovius whispers while dragging the latest corpse off to the side of the room away from the doors.

Timonius eventually hears the moving of furniture from behind the door and in a few minutes the door is opened by Erik. The young man wears full armor and his shield and sword lean against the wall. "Do I have time to pack Brion's and my things?" He asks as he begins tossing clothing and personal belongings of both men onto their respective beds which now lie in different locations in the room after having been removed from behind the door.

Markas hefted the corpse of Revit easily enough but he is unable to carry the massive war maul along with this awkward burden. He had his mace and the body to toss to defend himself from the orcs, would it be enough? With a nod to the thief the cleric hoped their luck held and he offered a quick prayer to Petra.
Louis moved to the section of stone wall between the two doors and waited. His eyes cast over the body of the man he had killed and he had to quickly turn his eyes elsewhere. Killing a man was somehow different from an orc or kobold and it didn't sit well with the young fighter.
Markas and Latovius hurried into the entrance hall with the butler's body, two of the orcs had heard some of the commotion in the other room and had just begun to leave their posts to investigate. "Help us! The lizards have gone crazy! They hurt master Revit and several of the other jousters!" Latovius bluffed and it must have worked because another of the orcs from the door left his post to come to the aid of the wounded butler.
Latovius waited briefly before he lashed out with a deadly dagger strike to the chest of the orc near him. Markas reacted by tossing the body of the butler onto one of the two orcs and it fell to the ground awkwardly and is tangled up in the corpses losing the grip of it's blade.

In his hurry to aid his friends Louis fails to hit the orc he had challenged and swung at.
Latovius lines up a throw at the orc by the door and buries his favored dagger into the foe's chest. It slumps forward to the ground, first dropping to its knees and then the ground.
The orc Markas had buried benath Revit's body extracts itself and awkwardly swings its sword at the cleric. The blow fails to land.
Round 1 Markas, Orc3
Erik stood motionless while he looked at Timonius with a puzzled expression upon his face for several moments after that he spoke. "What was that about succotash? I don't care for it myself, never tasted a recipe I could stand. So two ladies from Melinir are here? I suppose that makes sense, it's the largest town in the Thunder Rift after all. What about the two ladies in the next room that are in the tournament with us men? Are they the ones you are talking about? I believe their names are Taris and Rianna, and they are not very friendly. They seem to keep to themselves, why not even the offer of company for dinner and wine could get them to leave their rooms for the night. I know several women who would kill for a chance to spend an evening with me. Why there's this one lass ..."

How do I post so we can only see our own posts? More correctly how do I post so just Matt can see mine? I'm thinking since we are apart we shouldn't know what each other group is doing. So while I'm interested in what the others are doing it doesn't seem fair. Let me know and I'll post so only the DM can view.
