Techno Priest looks over at Broadway, extremely perplexed.

"Wait...you weren't just some vigilante bystander? Whoa, sorry for thinking that. Anyway, grab a sandwich, grab a drink, we're talking about forming a team and putting The Freedom League in their place. And fighting crime too. I mean, the emphasis is on crime-fighting, but kudos if we can embarrass Captain Thunderpants."

Ares bursts into laughter. Captain Thunderpants! HAH!. He adjusts his shoulders and takes another hearty gulp of beer. Well said, Techno Priest. Captain Thunder has proven himself in battle. He is a noble and true warrior. But, he is marred by the sin of hubris. He lacks any sense of aidos. The gods will punish him, one day. Mother will teach him humility. Perhaps, they sent us.[\b]

Her face goes through strange contortions at the odd sensations of being rebuilt from the inside. It seems to itch and tickle at the same time. Still, it ends with relief and she takes some deep breaths because it feels so good to not hurt. "Thank you. It's good to know we have a couple of options to deal with the consequences of fighting supervillains. I'm definitely up for making a team."

She is definitely hungry after that, and she will dig into the sandwiches and snacks. Those who notice these things will see that she's drinking a coke. "Oh, these are great!" She looks over at the others, you've got to have some. Looking directly at TIGHTS, she says, "It's too bad robots don't eat."

Invictus nodded his agreement with Waveform's sentiment, as he himself was the delicately roasted chicken breasts, the herb crust on the skin was savoury with just a hint of the heat from the jalapeños. "I will second that statement Waveform." He reached for his water and stood from the table as he continued, "I think one of the first orders of business should be to investigate VIPER's recent activities. They succeeded in silencing Mr. Parks, but we can't leave that to be his legacy. We failed to save his life, but in the end he chose to risk that life to speak out against VIPER, and expose them. Really, can we do any less?"

Quote:
OOC: Really, just spit balling on what our next step should be, we could start to investigate VIPER through our various avenues, contacts and what not. Really, we don't have a win yet, so we don't need to hold a press conference and tell the city just yet. I just want to get that win first. Also, Dr. Quark, I am sure you have a text from your daughter ... don't hate the teacher! Blame VIPER!

Golem leans carefully against a kitchen wall, careful to not put too much weight on it. He seems uncomfortable in the environment watching the rest of the heroes relaxing. He keeps subtly glancing over at Ares then turning away. After his statement he seems even more agitated.

He then turns looks at the relaxing group of heroes and seems to get an idea.

"Oh, we are relaxing, I am sorry I was unsure the overall intent of our meeting and was prepared for well, um action. I am somewhat knew to this hero thing and well...I am still learning. Give me a moment to um put on something more comfortable."

The creature of iron slowly dissolves into nothingness and several seconds later a man, just over five and a half feet tall, appears wearing jeans and a sporting an orange soda t-shirt and sneakers.

"That is better." He walks over and looks himself carefully in the mirror. "Yes much more appropriate to our current venue, it is also so much like my original vocation making life-like sculptures."

"I am obviously powered by a biofuel reactor. It processes food for energy at a much higher efficiency than your crude, biological systems," Isaac said. "Or I am possibly a teenager or alien."

Since I'm outed anyway....

Isaac worked it out carefully -wouldn't do to drop the whole suit- picked a separation point, and instructed T.I.G.H.T.S. to retract. His helmet rippled and melted away to reveal a narrow-faced man in his early twenties, cleanshaven and with close-cropped red hair.

"But I am absolutely not a ginger," he said gravely. "You can trust me; I'm three doctors. And possibly one of those aliens that looks just like humans because the budget's low maybe why not. Put more radiation on that and call me in the morning."

Somehow both unsettled and comforted by having his identity revealed so early, Derek picked a drink from the cooler, looked at it, and then put it back. Then pull it out again.

Thanks for the drinks Ares, but if you could see what is crawling around in that ice, well, let's just say some of us aren't immortal, right? You wouldn't believe how disgusting ice at most restaurants and convenient stores is.

As for you Isaac, when you are hanging out with folks who can see every molecule that makes up your body or control robots with their mind, you can't exactly pretend to be a robot.

Derek attempted to covertly (but still pretty obviously) shine an anti-microbial UV light over the outside of the bottle before popping it open. Then grabbed a sandwich. He didn't typically like to eat with people he didn't know, but he sensed that sharing food here had greater social ramifications. Ares had mentioned Greek hospitality, and he knew enough not to refuse to share salt with a god if that was how things were going.

So, priest, did you build those nanobots yourself? Their function is fascinating. We used something similar to map genomes back at, well, back at my previous employer.

I have no doubt that they have blessed this city with their presence many times. Freedom City is filled with art and beauty. It is the rival of much more storied cities like Rome or Paris. It is all the greater reason why we should give our all to protect it.

As Broadway spoke, Invictus walked over towards him and clapped a hand on his shoulder. "Broadway is it?", he paused a moment to allow the man to nod an affirmative, "I would like to thank you, in speaking with Thunder, you were able to say what needed to be said better than I. I allowed his words and actions to frustrate me, you were better able to maintain your calm, something I will work towards. Given our history, it is a little difficult for me still."

Waveform spoke up regarding coordination and training, "I agree with the young lady, we need to train together, to better know one another's capabilities, our individual strengths and weaknesses." He paused, obviously hesitant to be the first to speak after Waveform followed up with a question in regards to the name, "A thought had occurred to me, seeing as both Ares, and Golem come from a classical era, and I myself am very familiar with that era's history, we draw something, a name, from that era, from the birth of the democracy that this city is founded upon. Within the citizens of Freedom City, lies the true power of this city, it is their trust that we wish to earn, their trust we wish to respect. In that vein, I propose we declare ourselves as the Public Trust."

He looked around the room, curious as to the reactions of the others, his new found team mates.

Broadway grins at Invictus' greeting, "It was nothing. Besides I got to throw a barb at Capt. Thunder with his name, repeatedly, which got under his skin. Between Waveform and I, I think we cornered him enough to where he came out looking like a dick."

"Public Trust? Not bad but it does open up a lot of opportunities for trust fund jokes. He thinks a minute and then gets a crooked grin on his face, "What about New Freedom? It's accurate, and I'm sure Capt Thunderous will let it bother him."

At the moment it seems like a long shot that the public is going to trust us, but I certainly agree with the philosophical underpinnings of Public Trust. It is possible that adventuring across space and dimensions might have gone to the heads of the Freedom League.

More importantly, what should we do next? Does anyone have any contacts with Aegis? Or know anything about Viper? I was trying to determine where Viper was basing their activities, but that didn't work out. I also wonder if there remains any specific threat to the judge or those agents. Why were they interested in kidnapping them? Just as a distraction?

Markus nodded at Dr. Quarks comments, "I tend to agree with our diminutive Doctor. But perhaps we can take a discussion on a team name and concentrate on our next course of action. I have a working relationship with Cpt. Murtaugh and could approach AEGIS through him, though I do have some memory of AEGIS agents from Centurions past but they may well be retired by now." However, if this is something we are working to earn, and it is couched in that kind of language, then we may have an idea that will work. If so, we should present it in those terms."

Golem seems a bit more relaxed now. Taking a seat at a nearby table, he continues.

"On the other hand if we want a name like Courageous Company or Stalwart Society or Fearless Force, then it is just a question of activating our awesome alliterative analysis. We could also pick something simple like the Guard or the Coterie. It all depends on what kind of image we want to project."

As he pressed the small device into his ear, Invictus felt a peculiar sensation as the nanites began to embed themselves around his outer ear. Once the sensation subsided, he broadcast a message to the network, "Transmissions are coming in on all levels," he then spoke aloud to his newly assembled companions, "Looks like we have our assignments, be safe out there, and lets see if we can root out some VIPER's. Stay in communication folks."

With that he held out his hand to Quark, "Lets go touch base with Captain Murtaugh, he may be able to let us know where we stand with law enforcement and AEGIS at the moment."

As Quark nestled into the joints between the orichalcum plates of Invictus' pauldron, he floated towards the Cathedral's door and out through the tunnels towards the open sky. He banked east towards the precinct. It was just after noon, and given the stress that Murtaugh would be under, Invictus assumed that he'd be chain smoking by his window, he hovered beyond it, and saluted the Captain.

"Hard day Roger?"

The captain spun, his cigarette dangling comically from his bottom lip, "Shit 'vic, one day you're gonna do that and I'm gonna fall out this damn window."

"Maybe you should stop sneaking a smoke break then, you know Trish is going to find out, right?"

"Yeah, yeah, what you want 'vic? You and your buddies caused a hell of a scene at the Courthouse." As he spoke, he noticed the set of 'vic's jaw, "Shit, sorry man, didn't mean to rub it in, but the news is airin' that spat you had with Thunder, and it don't look good on you."

Invictus nodded his head, looking down at the street below where a crowd was already gathering, pointing upwards, "I know Roger, but he was wrong, we saved lives today." Throwing a salute to the crowd below he continued, "Can we come in Roger, I need a favor."

Captain Murtaugh stepped away from the window, and as Invictus floated through, the Captain turned to look at him, "We?"

Invictus tapped his pauldron, "Captain Murtaugh, Dr. Quark," and as the diminuitive hero returned to full size he continued, "Dr. Quark, Captain Murtaugh."

The captain shook his head, and muttered under his breath as he held out his hand, something about his age and retirement.

Invictus seemed to fly by subconsciously manipulating gravitons, and the effect was quite smooth. The temporal distortion caused by his miniaturization combined with the gravitic particles caused everything to look like it was made of pouring colored sand, like TNG warp speed combined with a hallucinogenic. He didn't think it was appropriate to ask your police contact for water, but he was considering it anyway.

At last he noticed that the captain was staring at him, hand extended, and he realized that at full size he was having all of these thoughts in real time.
Sorry, captain, my mind wandered. We were wondering what you could tell us about the viper agents disguised as bailiffs or the ones flying the chopper. Did they harm the bailiffs they replaced? Have you gotten anything from interrogating the ones in custody?

Murtaugh crushed his his smoke and moved back to his desk.

The ones in bailiff uniforms weren't replacing anyone, they were just blending in and were apparently tasked with keeping anyone from intervening in the courtroom. It seems they were expecting to be caught, and they don't seem to know anything. I haven't seen anything from questioning the chopper pilots, but let me pull up the transcripts

Broadway grins as he grabs a communicator, "Well I somehow suspect I won't need to worry about getting wet while with you, so underwater sounds fine to me.

Murtaugh typed into his computer and attempted to pull up the interviews with the agents.

As he worked, Quark continued.
We also were hoping to talk to someone at AEGIS about why the security was so light at the trial. Is there anyone you could hook us up with?

"Not unless you get me mad." She says with a wink as she picks him up in her wave. "Give us a ring if you need help. Ciao"

As they head off, She'll look at him, "Isn't singing cheating when you manipulate sound?" She's got a smirk on, so it's obviously teasing, but perhaps with a little bite.

Ares and Praxiteles The Golem:
As you begin to investigate I assume when you go to the Freedom City Historical Museum you are not in your full hero attire more in normal clothes. After taking care of all your business you get to the museum around 430ish.
Golem's Notice: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (8) + 11 = 19
Ares' Notice: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
You both notice a Middle Eastern or maybe Egyptian man with a very high tech looking camera, taking pictures of each item in the traveling exhibit. For each item he takes almost five minutes to take pictures from every angle and side.

Waveform and Broadway:
As you two patrol the docks you take your time, around dusk after most of the dock and warehouse workers have finished working for the day, you come upon a group of three SUVs all with dark tinted windows surrounding a large Van. There are well dressed men around the SUVs as well as what appears to be some warehouse workers around the van some appear to be carrying firearms.

Dr. Quark and Invictus:
Capt Murtaugh can set you guys up a meeting with Agent Bonham tomorrow morning. The agents interviews are being processed by AEGIS they pulled rank on the STAR Squad and the Freedom PD. He also complains about dealing with heroes this was why he stayed out of the STAR squad so he doesn't have to deal with this sh!t

T.I.G.H.T.S. and Techno Priest:
As you begin to look into the break in you realize the perpetrators took both physical and computer files from AEGIS
Techno Priest's Gather Information: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (12) + 10 = 22
Techno Priest's Investigate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14
Techno Priest's Computers: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
T.I.G.H.T.S' Investigate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (8) + 10 = 18
T.I.G.H.T.S' Computers: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (5) + 14 = 19
So through your investigation and research and info gathering you were able to surmise:
The group that stole the files were from the Super Villain Team Terror INC.
They took anything with any information on the names Superior Übermensch, and Kal-Zed.
The basic information you can find on these three names is he was a former Nazi super solider and later a great enemy of The Centurion before he just vanished years ago.
This information Gathering will take all night

Broadway blanches at the statement at first, but then grins sheepishly, "I've been singing since I could talk, really. So I'm not sure if the power helps the singing, or vice versa. I mean, imagine how bad it'd all sound if I had a tin ear, and couldn't control pitch." He gives her a brilliant smile, which falters a bit when he spots the SUVs, "So, is it just me, or do expensive, blacked out SUVs seem out of place on a filthy industrial pier? He indicates the spot inclining his chin.

Are there any water-based fluids in the crates?

OMNIPOTENT OMNIPRESENT NARRATOR

Waveform: No water based fluids in the crate.

Waveform and Broadway

As you two monitor the situation you notice a town car pull up and an Asian man with two large body guards come out of the car.

When he gets out of the car men in the van pull out a large metal crate and bring it behind the man as he meets with two "Made Men" standing waiting for him with two additional men with suitcases standing to the back of them.

The Asian man walks over to the metal crate placing his hand on a scanner causing the case to open up.

The case looks to be full of money as the "Made Men" walk up and inspect the contents of the box, they way for the two men in back with suitcases to bring them up and open them. Both suitcases are full of bullion bricks.

There is some words exchanged, the Asian mans bodyguards take the suitcases as a couple more "Made Men" take the metal case towards one of the vans.

The Captain entered a series of commands on the keyboard and then slammed his hand onto the desk.

Sh@t, it looks like AEGIS has swooped in and taken those Viper goons out the hands of the oh so delicate FCPD. You will have to get whatever information you need from them. They tend to wait as long as possible to update the "shared" database. I will give Agent Bonham a call and set something up for you. You know, all this supervillain/hero crap is why I don't work for STAR Squad.

As Murtaugh dialed the number for the AEGIS liaison, Quark turned to Invictus.

What now, big guy? I'm thinking we do a superspeed x-ray scan of the city, see if we can turn anything up? It seems the wheels of bureaucracy aren't going to turn fast enough for us to get any info there tonight. Or maybe there is some sort of GPS data onboard the helicopter that would tell us where it came from?

Note that Dr. Derek Swift has disappeared from the crime scene and is unaccounted for, I imagine that authorities are worried about that and certainly that his family is. Might come up in a later scene
