Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
"I'm guessing that means we should be wary of traps. Do you want to take those few moments before we head down the tunnel?" Finnegan gestures towards the left tunnel he and Andrea had discussed taking.
The Winds of Fate |
You all take several minutes to catch your breath and to let Othniel assess the trap.
For this I will let Othniel take 20 on his perception to examine the trap and determines that it will reset itself in just under one hours time.
After that is done, you head down the left hand tunnel. Looking into the room, you see that the walls of the dusty chamber are decorated with mosaic scenes of hunting and battle. Six biers line the walls, the resting places of respected warriors.
Do you enter the room?
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
"We need to be cautious. There is already one trap we've encountered. There may be others."
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (2) + 11 = 13
Looking for traps
Alexander Orlovsky |
Alexander shrugs, Take your time. We're in no rush. He patiently waits as the others check for traps.
Taking 20 for a 20. I expect that won't be finding anything, but if w have the time, no sense in not using it. Do the mosaics give us any idea of the time period these people were buried in, or who they are?
The Winds of Fate |
Correct. You do not find anything. As for the mosaics, they seem to predate any other human settlements that you know of in this area and may be thousands of years old. So far, they have seemed to show scenes of the life of a very important barbarian warlord and is a fair assumption to say that this is his final resting place and these are guards or attendants meant to accompany him into the afterlife. Though now they appear to be skeletons wearing remnants of their former armor.
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
"Let's check if there's anything of value here, first."Once Othniel says there is no trap here, Finnegan will step into the room in an on-guard position. If nothing happens, he will begin looking through the room for any loot.
Alexander Orlovsky |
Alexander chuckles, Oh good, some excitement.
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Round 1: Initiative 22
If he can catch at least three of the skeletons in a 10-ft radius spell, Alexander will cast Glitterdust, DC 16.
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
"You know, given that trap in the central area, I shouldn't be surprised by this." Finnegan then studies the nearest skeleton before loosing a blunt arrow at it.

Eduard begins to summon a fire elemental.
Finnegan hits a skeleton with a blunt arrow, knocking out some of its ribs.
The skeleton rise up and begin to come at your group.
Andrea bashes a skeleton with her shield.
Othniel fires off some acid at one and its bones begin to sizzle.
Round 2
Alexander inspire courage.
Eduard's elemental slams into a skeleton.
Reflex save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
And the bones and remnants of clothing begin to smolder and then catch on fire.
Finnegan fires off another arrow.
1d20 + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 18
1d8 + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 1 + 2 = 15
And downs the skeleton.

will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
will save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Attack Andrea: 1d20 ⇒ 9
Attack Finnegan: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Othniel fires off another blob of acid and the bones sizzle some more.
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
Round 3
Taking a step back from the skeleton swinging a sword at him, Finnegan studies it and the one in front of Andrea before loosing a blunt arrow into it.
Attack, bless, inspire courage, point blank shot, studied target: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 1 + 2 + 1 + 2 = 34

Eduard will cast Acid Splash at the most damaged skeleton.
Acid Splash: 1d20 + 3 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 2 - 4 = 6
Damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
The elemental will slam the same target.
Round 2 Burn Duration: 1d4 ⇒ 3
Round 3 Burn Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
Slam: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 4 + 2 = 12
Damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The Winds of Fate |
Round 3
Four skeletons go down from your combined efforts, leaving just one blinded skeleton still up.
will: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Seeing that the last one remains blinded, it will go down easily next round and we will go ahead and end combat now.
With the bones of the skeletons crunching underneath your feet, you are free to enter this small (20x20) burial chamber. The faded mosaics on the walls depicting what could have been scenes from their mortal lives as they fought off humanoids and odd creatures to preserve their homeland.
Sadly, all their armor and weapons are half-rusted/rotted and pretty much worthless.
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
"Well, not much left with these few."
Finnegan takes a look around the room to see if there's anything else there.
Perception: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
The Winds of Fate |
Yeah, I totally wondered about that too, but couldn't find anything about them being immune to blindness. I bet someone just forgot to add something about that...
You return back to the round room and are left with two hallways to go down. Which do you choose? The one to your right in the one you first came down, so you have one more to your left and then the one directly opposite you.
The Winds of Fate |
You walk down the hallway to the left and come to another room. The walls of this chamber are adorned with a plethora of weapons, shields, armor, and tattered banners and standards. Interspersed among the displayed arms are carved scenes of battle, pillage, and conquest. The carvings are caked in flaking pigments that were once brightly colored, but many have been defaced, apparently by repeated blows from a weapon. At the far end of the room, a withered corpse lies in state atop a stone catafalque, its bony hands clutching a sword across its chest.
Alexander Orlovsky |
Alexander lifts his sword to point at the ancient corpse. I expect that's who we're looking for. He waves his hand as the group moves forward and four more copies of him appear.
Alexander casts Mirror Image.
Images: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
The Winds of Fate |
Init: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Much like the other room, as soon as the first person crosses the threshold of the room, the undead stirs from his sleep. He lets the broken ceremonial sword he was clasping fall to ground, grabbing up a longbow that had been laying to his side.
While this was happening, your group cast bless, mirror image, studied the target and tossed some acid at the creature, which hit him and is slowing eating through his armor and into its cold flesh.
We will now enter Round 1. Roll Init if you haven't yet and state your actions.
Alexander Orlovsky |
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Round 1: Initiative 23
Alexander moves forward, holding his shield up. Looks like he's up for a fight! Let's give him one!
Using Inspire Courage +2.
Finnegan "Devilbow" Rook |
Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Round 1: Init 15
Finnegan grins. "So, you want to play the game of who's a better shot? Let me enlighten you."
Attack, bless, PBS, studied target, rapid shot: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (1) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 13
Unfortunately, in his bout of ego, he drops his first arrow. Cursing, he fires another.
Attack, bless, PBS, studied target, rapid shot: 1d20 + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 1 + 1 + 2 - 2 = 29
Damage, PBS, studied target: 1d8 + 3 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 3 + 1 + 2 = 14
Sneak Attack, if applicable: 1d6 ⇒ 5
You know, I really deserved that nat 1 after having a bout of ego.
