The slightly bewildered gnome turns to the others. So...anyone mind explaining why I've been locked up in here? And why I've been thrown in the same cell with the guy who just stabbed someone? She backs away from Markus, eyeing him suspiciously. All I wanted was a nice absinthe, with the little burning sugarcube on top, but no, I had to get locked up with a madman...

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

So many words, such little lungs...

Hard to believe there's someone else, this handsome... But, I assure you I've stabbed no one, recently.

Markus, rubs at his temples... Premature grey more evident.

By the gods, what happened? I was sleeping.

Lucid looks over with a worried look at the man that looks like Senniki. I can't really tell if that is our friend or not. But he looks hurt. Can you reach him Markus?

Addressing the gnome and Markus Lucid explains What we got here is a merchant that managed to look like my friend Markus long enough to stab the halfing back at the bar, run half way up the stairs to where we could not see him, change his disguise back to the merchant, and then run back down and start causing trouble for all of us. I am guessing of course, but its no doubt that the merchant had it in for us and its also no doubt that Marcus did not stab anyone in that bar. Hells, I cannot even get the man to take his share of spoils of battle half the time. He's got more morals that sense.

Male Human Lore Warden 3 - Scout 4 | AC 21/16/15 | HP 27/63 | F+7 R+9 W+4 | Init +3 | Perc +10

Markus laughs in spite of the dire circumstance.

What little sense remained must have escaped when we realize three demonic deities were combining forces and raising some ancient dark lord.

Or perhaps when we had to type that twelve foot tall abomination that tore out town apart.

Markus can't quite reach the man, but when he tries the elven woman speaks, "I think he is dead. They came for him again. His screams sounded like all the others did at the end. I think he was still breathing when they finished, but he hasn't moved since. I expect that they'll remove the body soon." She hugs her knees rocks back and forth. "He was so brave at first. Said he'd been in worse situations before and that his friends would soon come to save us all. Said his god would protect him, but the Gods can't see us down here."

One of the men in the cell at the end, shouts, "Shut your damn fool mouth. I swear if I have to keep listening to your nonsense, I'll be the one that goes mad."

The bald headed man peers though the cell door to look at the newcomers. He says a few words after the guards leave and they are left alone. "Greeting folks. A part of me is quite glad that I'm not the only one here. You know the saying....'Misery loves company.'"

Gavie scoffs. Misery - you got that right. Now there's a dead guy a cell over... Peering into the cell for a moment, she sits back against the wall in a huff and snaps her fingers. As she does, sparks flash to life from her fingertips, sparkling in the dim light of the cell. Gotta admit, though, if you blokes are lying, you're doing one heck of a job. Most folks would never cook up something that crazy. The demon gods and the bit about not taking his loot - nice touches.

You're welcome to stick around if you like crazy or want to help stop it. Can't vouch for them or there, if the enemy can disguise as someone we know, they can easily pretend to be a prisoner.

He mention the god by name? Heironeous?

"I don't do crazy but I'm here for humanitarian effort to help with what is going in Greyhawk. I'm only here for a couple of days then I'm accused of a crime that I did not commit. Many so called witnesses lied about my whereabouts and I was detained. I feared that matters would get worse so wisdom guided my action to not to escalate the situation.
I was moved here only yesterday....biding my time...observing...."
The monks words are even and steady, not showing any signs to stress.

No one else is brought down to the cells at this moment.

Are you guys just going to sit tight? Nothing else is going to occur until the next day. Everyone just going to huddle together until then?

Sverrir clearly has already had enough of being cooped up... and without a drink...

"Feh. We need to get out... few strong drams will sort out whose real and whose nei! Loose lips an' all that!"

The dwur eyes the newcomers cautiously, weighing up their merits perhaps as drinking partners...

Sorry about that Markus. No, she doesn't recall if the man mentioned a specific God.

Lucid looks lost in thougt for a few moments. He blinks rapidly in the dim light and looks suddenly like he just woke up. Speaking to the elven woman he asks You said the guards tortured and killed that elf there? pointing to Senniki. Then quitely he adds Oh, this is bad, very bad. I was thinking we were facing a doppleganger, but it seems we are facing a pack of them. This is not a prison unless this fabled city uses nondescript warehouses as prisons. And I am not at all sure we were even arrested by city guard. Add it was not Senniki that was with us until recently. That dead man is our old friend...

He was your friend? Gavie turns toward the opposite cell. Here, let me try this... She stands and pirouettes in curiously thick-soled boots, then points a finger toward the unmoving form. A small tongue of flame emerges from her finger and shoots to the opposite cell, landing over the still form's heart.

Activating Boots of the Earth and trying to start a Life Link between me and the possibly-dead guy, which should work if he's alive and unconscious, but won't work if he's dead.

After several moments' concentration, Gavie turns to the others with a somber look. I'm sorry - he truly is dead. I've got the ability to link my own flame with the spark in others, give them some of my own energy. But his spark has gone out, I couldn't reach him.

I am assuming that Lucid has his spell components unless you tell me otherwise.

I can get out of the cell. Says lucid. But I am unsure where I would go after that. He looks around for the proverbial ring of keys that is usually just out of reach.

Could a tactically created pit under the bars allow people from at least two cells to climb out? Ropes can be used for safety and to assist.

You can have your reagents. There is no obvious keys in this room. You could use create pit that way. You wouldn't have rope on you at the moment and the pits are 30feet deep, but you could probably just climb along the edge and use the bars as support. I'll have to think up a reasonable climb or acrobatics DC for that, but it's probably like a DC10ish kind of thing.

[ooc]At 7th level Lucid will know the spell Dimension Door and at 8th his teleportation sub-school will let him teleport some more. But for now...[/b]

I think its clear that we need to get out of here. the small wizard intones. I can get folks out of their cell if you can climb up under a pit I create under the bars. Get ready to act fast though as the pit will only last a few moments. And do not stand next to the pit, as its easy to slip in.

Lucid will position everyone to where they need to be to quickly act after his casting. He will then direct people to help each other under the bars and into the relative safety of the hall. He will also cast the minimum depth pit he can cast, just in case.

Ready?...

Unless there is a voice against it Lucid summons a 20 deep pit between cells to allow as many people as possible to get out. He himself will stay back ready to try to assist where possible and will get out with a dimensional step. If someone were to fall in Lucid directs them to stand in the correct corner so that when the spell ends they will be outside the bars.

I've updated the map, so you can see the lay of the land. You entered from the door to the south, there are another set of double doors to the north.

When you start magically mucking about, the two men in onf the cells press themselves up against the bars. "Hey what are you doing? You want to get us all killed? Stay in your cell before someone shows up."
