"You may give me spellcasting advice when you are willing to accept mine regarding swordplay, Kaiden. Morphet, when the flock comes near, cast this. It will server as our bait." Spectrum says handing the sorcerer a scroll "When they gather I can likely bring down the majority of the flock. The net and canvas can be used as a shield. Affix four poles to the corners. The warriors among us will be better served operating the cover, providing defense for those of us that can provide more effective means of combating our foes. Now can we please get moving?"

"Well, if we kill the mule, then spread stuff from my tanglefoot bag all over the net, put the net over the dead mule... then the birds land around the mule and get stuck to the net..." Tok says. "Quite simple really, and brilliant too. I'm clever like that, then I can donate my other horse to pull the cart."

M Human Boreal Sorcerer 3

Morphet looks at the scroll handed to him. "What does this do?" looking at Spectrum

Grabbing the net Khalil starts rapidly lashing it to a couple of long poles on either side to form a large square. While working he says,"I'm thinking if a couple of us grab a pole, we should be able to sweep a few creatures out of the air and onto the ground where one or two of the others can get an easy swing at them while they're trapped."

He looks up to see how much time they might have before the birds arrive, and then over to Spectrum and Morphet. "That is if any get through what the mages have planned."

"It will summon a half-dozen horses." Spectrum replies to Morphet.

It's a scroll of Communal Mount

She, looks at the fishing net she has. "Anyone know exactly what we're going to do with this thing?" She asks. "And get the people into the tent with the livestock, it's big enough after all."

"If you get caught in Spectrum's spell then we will need another cleric. I am going to assume it is easier to find another horse or mule, than it is to find a healer."

After hearing what the spell is:

"Don't be so touchy now. If I had known you had a summon bait spell I would not have offered my mule up. Advice on swordplay is accepted when I forget which weapons I have."[b]

As he says the word "weapons" he eyes the scroll which was just passed over to Khalil, with a smirk on his face.

[b]"Putting that net over the summoned horses should work with the tanglefoot bag should work. Those that don't die from Spectrum's blast should get stuck."

The minutes seemed as days they passed so slowly....

So...whats the plan?

I guess we will use the communal mount spell to summon the bait. Throwing the net over the with the glue to trap some, and the rest will die(hopefully) from Spectrum's spell.

Sounds good to me. Just need the GM to tell us what happens :-)

With the plan ready and the trap set you get into position and wait till the time is right. It is not long before the loud chirping and calls of the birds can be heard and you spring into motion the first step and 6 large horse appear afront of the net and the gorecrows grow near. Over a dozen (19) sky dive down at the last second into the herd of horses and the net is thrown over them and they are set ablaze at this same time a pillar of rocks comes crashing down from the sky crushing almost a dozen more (9). Only 12 evade the dangerous trap and they circle overhead and scatter in all direction in their frantic flight until the sky is once again clear of imminent dangers. The fire blazes the birds corpses are nothing but lifeless bones the rocks clear and the road is once again clear of danger. After a short wile of staring at the carnage Gregers speaks up. "Color me impressed I didn't expect it to work no offense meant of course, now that that is...over with we should turn on back to the road wouldn't want to be "late" now would we." If anyone has any business to settle here be quick about it and then we shall be off

3 of the horses were also caught int the pyre and one ripped to shreds from the crows. Good problem solving team 400xps each.

Male Goblin Inquisitor Heretic 3

Curvlk admires the efficiency of the plan set into action, his blade out in front of him.
When conflict is avoided, the goblin sheathes the weapon and begins to mutter prayers over the dead horses and crows, then as an afterthought, he pulls out his blade and seeks wounded creatures, quickly ending their suffering if they are beyond help. are any of the creatures wounded as opposed to dead?

Celestial:
"May your pain be brief and the light of your truth be eternal."

The strange preacher repeats the scripture as he passes each creature, his large eyes show a strong intention behind the words.

M Human Boreal Sorcerer 3

"That worked great....." says Morphet smiling. I'll have to remember this for when I tell bed time stories and seeing what Curvlk is doing will help him so they can get moving quicker.
"No reason to let them suffer." giving Curvlk a nod.

Male Elf Cleric of Sarenrae/3

Luminarion helps put away anything that needs to be and when that task is finished says, "Shall we be on our way then?"

After recovering from the roar of the flames, falling rock and the stench of burning bird and horse flesh, Khalil dusts off his increasingly mud and grime-smeared cloak. "Well...that worked out better than expected."

Looking down at the few remaining shreds of the netting, he picks the pieces up and hands them back to Tok. "Thanks for the use of the net." Looking at the pitiful remains in his hand he adds, "Sorry it's a little...tattered."

The fishing net is hardly noticeable and it has been more than ruined from the fires.

After the party puts to rest the few of the horses who slowly burn they are back on the road and on way to the valley of sleeping Jarls. It stays fairly warm throughout the whole of the day something very rare in the Land and your day slowly goes by until nightfall. You make camp off road and in the relative shade tonight is a full moon and the stars glow as bright as ever. The regular watch circle goes round by today the night is calm. You wake early morn and feel very refreshed you have a quick breakfast and then you are once again trekking down the road. Snow is heavy this day and obscures your sight it is cold too cold. High piles of snow cake the ground and your speed this day is reduced due to the harsh weather.

Array had taken it upon himself to scout after the encounter with the Gorecrows, he flew high but always kept in sight, occasionally reporting back to Spectrum. Ignoring warnings about the cold, he eventually came back shaking, a sheen of frost forming on his cramping wings. After that he contented himself burrowing into whatever space Spectrum hid them in beneath his cloak.

for some reason the boards aren't letting me post as two different avatars in a row. Not sure why. I'll post the rolls for spectrum and glimmer after someone else replies. Hopefully that will reset whatever's in the server making things hard on me.

You can see that the Cold has even effected Gregers and his companions. "I think it would be best if we find shelter we will get no were in this storm!" Gregers yells to you trying to overpower the noise of the heavy winds.

Perception DC 25:
Out of the glint of your eye you can vaguely make out a large campsite some 300m ahead of you. There are several figures walking around the sight and no fire is lit.

M Human Rogue 2 / Cleric 1 HP: 13/13 AC:16 T:13 FF:13 CMD:14 F: +3 R: +6 W: +4 Per: +8/+9 Init: +5

From his place in the back of the group Khalil notices movement along the road ahead. Struggling to muster up the strength and to control his muscles enough to stop shivering for a few seconds he manages to get a few words out "Looks....good....spot to.....c-c-c-camp. There." He lifts a frost covered arm in the general direction, barely getting his hand to work well enough to point. "Someone....there....maybe get warm....weird there's.....no f-f-f-fire."

Male Goblin Inquisitor Heretic 3

Curvlk calmed his body as best he could before stepping forward. "Let us not forget the dangers we seek in this icy weather. I saw the camp as well, and I believe I also saw figures wandering in the icy cold. Any who do so with out a fire are surely not of this world, and may be representative of the menace we seek." He searches about for one of the clerics. [b]"I believe that many of us have began to succumb to the cold. If the clerics would bless us with their healing warmth, I believe it might reverse the process? We may better assess the situation then."The strange creature grits his teeth as he booms out against the frozen winds, and it seems as if he is accustomed to suffering such as this.

Unless I'm mistaken, healing our non-lethal should negate the fatigue from hypothermia, correct?

"I say we deal with them, and then break out the heat stones if we are going to rest there. We may also build a fire from the campsite of those people or things that don't need it. "

Male Goblin Inquisitor Heretic 3

I would suggest that this may be an opportunity for stealth and speed, assuming we can be bolstered by Sarenrae's healing light and blessings." Curvlk turned his head towards the ranger. "You made an effective ally against the gnolls, and our fighting styles seemed to compliment one another. You are also untouched by the cold. Perhaps we should venture off together to see what we can find?"

Male Elf Cleric of Sarenrae/3

If I channel positive divine energy to heal, then I can cure any hit point damage, as well as nonlethal damage. However, I think that in order to make fatigue go away I would need to use "Lesser Restoration" and I do not have that spell prepared. Even if I did I could only get one person with one spell. Another consideration is that if those things out there are undead, I can harm them more effectively than I can heal by channeling energy, and would prefer to save my channels for dealing with them. Perhaps Tokara could channel some healing energy?

Luminarion moves to the center of the group, pulls out his Holy symbol and casts "Bless" (good for 3 minutes/30 combat rounds).

According to the Envirionmental Rules found here,

"A character who takes any nonlethal damage from cold or exposure is beset by frostbite or hypothermia (treat her as fatigued). These penalties end when the character recovers the nonlethal damage she took from the cold and exposure."
A channel from one or each of you should get those fatigued back into fighting shape with out penalty, assuming you don't roll a lot of ones and twos! *crosses fingers*
