Yes the new people get 500gp to spend.Approaching the junkyard is no easy feat by itself.
Surrounded by a big fence and with a few mean looking guard dogs, Kunala can only see piles of scrap and old metal. The door is closed and there is a "BELL" more like a gong.. but the only response when he bangs it is a "GO AWAY... no beggars!"
Kunala |
Kunala speaking as loudly and clearly as his accented lisp will allow replies"We are not beggars, Junkmaster Garritt! I am Kunala and these are my associates we are the individuals who rescued councilman Baine and we intend to restart the torch. We were informed you may have found something we could learn from or possibly use and wanted to talk to you about purchasing it. Come open the door so we may do business!
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15 well that was a pitiful roll
Druneor Hammerstriker |
Druneor just bites his lip, and listens into any conversation that develops.
Druneor Hammerstriker |
percept: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Be aware, there are 3 orcs there.
Druneor loosens his dorn dergar from across his chest, but doesn't draw it yet.
Kunala |
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
Kunala rolls his eyes, and whispers There are 3 burly half-orcs with weapons gathering in front of the main building. They do not seem concerned. Almost smirking!" Kunala holds up his finger indicating 'one moment' as the calls to the Junkmaster he listens to the intonation of the mans voice. Come Junkmaster Garritt, you are a business man, I carry 1,000 gp. myself, let us do business. If you are not interested in selling I would consider paying you to let us look at the artifact. Are your pockets that full you cannot use a little more money?" Kunala then looks to the door do see if it is locked.
sense motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6 useless
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 is the gate locked
if the junkman doesn't want to do business, maybe his orc friends will want to rob Kunala, either way we get the gate open without B&E, which will be Kunala's next move if talking doesn't work
Druneor Hammerstriker |
Druneor still remains a bit on edge as he looks over at the orcs.
Helikon |
After a bit of turmoil the doors open and you can see the dogs are leashed and the guards have their weapons not at ready anymore.
A half-orcen woman of true epical ugliness offers a clawlike hand for the donation.
After receaving it she leads you back into a long shack and points to a round tablelike object.
"Are you ready?"
Druneor Hammerstriker |
fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8 Add 4 if Spell/Spell like ability
What in Torag's name
Kunala |
fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
"What treachery is this? Kunala draws his wheellock with his outburst, leveling it where the thought the half-orcen woman was. stay calm, you got through being blinded by the toad, you will get through this, just keep your head
drawing the pistol seemed like an appropriate response, are we in combat rounds now, or is Kunala reacting for nothing
Helikon |
"Am I thought you knew what we had... no worries it will fade with time."
You won´t get attacked. After half a minute your vision returns, albeit with spotches. A beaming and quite ugly half-orcen woman looks at you with pride in her face.
"Well it is a bit heavy.. true but it is incredibly bright... isn´t it?"
Kunala |
As the woman's explanation calms Kunala he holsters his pistol. Looking at the object and then at his new traveling companions I hope all of this makes more sense to them than I does to me. I hate to spend that much money on anything, let alone a fancy lamp. wonder if we should have brought Mr. Moss he takes his time, hoping the new team members could draw some conclusions about the thing and is value.
Druneor Hammerstriker |
I doubt that we will be able to take this with us. It is a little large.
Druneor looks a little closer at it.
Know eng: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Well, I cannot figure out this light.
Druneor Hammerstriker |
Which is why I said that I doubt we can take it with us. :)
Kunala |
Kunala watches as the new teammates get excited about the technology and begin looking at it and asking questions. These three will do well, I hope we find more tech in the caves they can look at! addressing their hostess in his accented lisp he asks, "Yes, can you tell us where you found it? Also I hope you don't mind if we poke around a little bit to determine it's value" smiling, to the team he says, "Three things gentleman: what we will use it for, what is it's value and how shall we move it?" Thinking for a moment about Sanvil Trett, Kunala, turning to the woman, adds "We may need to speak to our silent partner before we make a final decision. I assume the forty-five gold we gave you will work in good faith as a deposit, till we get back to you?"
using diplomacy to make the request that the 45gp will stand as a deposit
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20
Nicolas "Mouse" Lester |
"I thh...thhhthhink I might have a w...way we could mo-move it. W...we would have to come back t-t-tomorrow though. As for w-what we would d-d...do with it..." Mouse trails off with a shrug.
I still have a bunch of scrolls to copy down. Ant haul is one of them. I think we could drag it with that.
Gin Kyomaru |
Gin was quiet, he simply blinked when the light went off but had said or done little. The language everyone spoke here was hard enough, the things they spoke of made it no easier. The fact his mind seemed to drift to Elasbeth helped even less.
He snapped out of it when it came to what he surmised was.. lifting. " Ai.. couldo take itu. Puru away. "
Kunala |
"Three things gentleman: what we will use it for, what is it's value and how shall we move it?" Thinking for a moment about Sanvil Trett, Kunala, turning to the woman, adds "We may need to speak to our silent partner before we make a final decision. I assume the forty-five gold we gave you will work in good faith as a deposit, till we get back to you?"
I was hoping to use diplomacy so she would hold it for us until we talked to Trett
Not willing to pay such a steep price, without knowing the value, Kunala, unsure of the value or use of the light, watches the new team members for any clues, asking them in his accented lisp, "What do you think gentlemen, what may we use and for and more importantly what is it worth, or do you think we need to ask our new business partner" not wanting to use Sanvil Trett's name in front of anyone we don't know
Druneor Hammerstriker |
Well, I can see that the light will blind any creature with sight, which we all can attest to. But as for usefulness, right now I am not sure. I guess we will have to see with our partner.

Know eng: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
Currently got nothing more to add right now, and go figure, back to my usual bad rolls. :(
Kunala |
hey why not, it could happen
sense motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19 what do you know
Kunala looking at his team mates, then noticing the woman is looking behind him, almost like she is waiting for a yes or a no. Kunala addresses the team first in his accented lisp "Gentleman I'm afraid we are detaining the lady and her friends. If there are no other questions we may as well go speak to our silent partner." Turning to the woman he adds "We will go and speak to one who is familiar with technology, when we return we will make an offer. I hope that nothing will happen to prevent us from doing business in the future." nodding he signals her to lead the way out. "After you mam." as he speaks to her he draws his pistol and nudges his shield off of his shoulder onto his arm, waiting to follow her out.
Druneor Hammerstriker |
SM: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Our apologies, if you took this as to be a threat against you, but it is not.
Kunala, you are insulting our host, at least wait until we are outside the door.
Druneor attempts to sooth the woman.
Kunala |
see if Kunala can get lucky again
sense motive: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (10) - 1 = 9 oh well
Not able to tell if the woman is genuinely upset or if it is some part of a ruse, Kunala justifies his actions, "Mam, at the price I paid you to see this bauble I should be able to dance around naked with a bowl of fruit on my head if I so chose too. Forty five gold could by 'your house.' Do not play the part of the offended little sister with me, you are a business woman, your husband is a business man. There are many dangers and I have lived by attempting to be ready for them. If your price of 500 gold pieces is reasonable we will pay it. If not we will haggle the price. Do not mistake my caution as a threat, If I were threatening you, you would know it. When we return with more gold I am sure it will help sooth your anger. For now we will follow you out, and please do not let those watching behind us give me cause to think I should have threatened you.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17 don't know if a diplomacy roll will help or not, but just wanting to be cautious and leave, not to pick a fight.
Helikon: speaking of fights, Kunala did not go to the temple to get healed yet, nor has he given the wand to there new "medic." So, is he at 10 hp or can we hand wave that and put him back at 26?
Gin Kyomaru |
Sense Motive: 1d20 ⇒ 16
Gin seems to twist his face somewhat understanding. He shakes his head and then, gets on his knees. The large man goes to the ground and places his hands flat in a bow. " Kunara-san isu not goodo at hurtingu. Pleasu forgivu. Sumimasen. "
