Welcome, my chosen champions of Kintargo. Congratulations for making the cut and thank you for your time. I hope to make this worth your while and full of interest. Feel free to introduce yourselves in greater detail, establish character connections if you wish, all that good stuff while I set up the gameplay thread.

If you need or require certain information about certain characters and your reasoning justifies it, I can PM you a basic list of notable people the PC would logically know about. (i.e Notable nobles for nobles, famous figures for the curious, shopowners, etc.)

With that, have at it and post away.

I was wondering if it may be possible to have some of our characters know each other in passing before the events here go down. I think that may make things a bit more interesting. Anyone else interested?

Hello my rebellious brethren! Thanks again goes to GM Silentsage for picking my humble little unassuming man to be part of this group of extraordinary gentlemen (and ladies).

Looking over everyone, I think Lonnie would probably know just about everyone other than Johann, as he gets around town a lot and his family is friendly with nearly all the less snooty residents. If you don't want to know Lonnie just say so though.

Hi all! As I said, I'm looking forward to playing with you all! I've been looking forward to playing the AP, and it seems like a great selection.

A bit about me (since it helps breaking the ice with other players, as I've found out), I'm 23, living in Scotland. English isn't my native language, but I'd like to think I have a certain level of mastery of it. My posting might therefore be at a bit different hours (as it's currently 3:30 AM in here) than those of you in the US, but I can comfortably post once daily, or even more.

I started playing RPG's just about four years ago, starting with 3.5, and then someone introduced me to Pathfinder. I've dipped my toes in quite a lot of systems, and as someone working in Mechanical Engineering, I'd probably describe my knowledge of Pathfinder Mechanics as quite high. (That doesn't mean I'm going to Pun-Pun around, though! If anyone thinks I'm overly optimising, GM or player alike, feel free to drop me a PM!)

A bit about Tasha, I guess the idea for her sort of happened since I'm quite the news reader, and I try to get my news responsibly sourced from all sides of a story. And comedians are quite the popular and entertaining way to get news nowadays. (Another tangent, I'm not planning on bringing up any RL politics in the game or in Discussion, either. We don't have to all agree on everything to enjoy the game together!) I honestly have no idea how to run a pamphlet, or whether newspapers or similar things exist on Golarion. *nudges GM with knowledge-hungry eyes.*

Regarding connection, I don't know. I'd imagine Tasha mostly operating around the opera (no pun intended) and the poorer neighbourhoods. Maybe knowing Lonnie as someone who can get in places and talk to people? I'm sure we can work something out!

Human Id Bloodrager 1 | HP 12/12 | AC 17 T 12 FF 15 | Fort 3 Ref 2 Will 0 | Initiative +2 | Rage 2/5

Also, before we start in gampeplay. I would like to make the suggestion that we do all rolling and out of character talk in spoilers. I just feel that it makes the whole thing read a lot better.\

Absolutely! Lonnie spends more time doing heavy lifting backstage than he does doing personable stuff, but he can indeed put makeup on actors or smooth talk a star singer to some degree of success.

That could work! If Lonnie would be the sort of person who'd take the occasional odd job, I could see Tasha paying him for the latest rumours and distributing some of the Kintargo Crier pamphlets on notice boards (and walls). Considering we both have the Gifted Satirist trait, maybe some collaboration on some editions, and we could even expand it further to be a facet in the rebellion.

If he's grown up around the opera, they could've even grown up together, considering Tasha's mother is a singer there. (Or was, considering the current events.)

Chelaxian Cleric of Ragathiel 1 [HP 9] [AC 16; T 11; FF 15] [F+3; R+1; W+6] [Init +1] [Perception +9]

In my backstory, I have Arno attending the protest with a friend who convinced him to attend. Based on you all, I think either Johann or Lonnie would make sense?... Not sure what you to think.

Human Id Bloodrager 1 | HP 12/12 | AC 17 T 12 FF 15 | Fort 3 Ref 2 Will 0 | Initiative +2 | Rage 2/5

Lonnie would certainly be willing to do "odd jobs" for Tasha, though he would just see it as just helping a friend and yes, he has worked at the theater for most of his life. Knowing Tasha's mother is probably a given.

Lonnie's attending with a friend too. Maybe most of us decided to go as a posse?

Male Human Inquisitor of Apsu 1

Great to be here with y'all. Should prove to be an interesting run.

Johann doesn't place a lot of stock in the rumors surrounding Barzillai or the Night of Ashes, be he can't deny the fact that the man's more ridiculous proclamations are blatant abuses of power and the resulting chaos threatens the safety of his mother's former home. As such, he is attending this latest protest in hopes that Barzillai will get the message and change his ways.

That being said, I wouldn't mind him being the friend who convinces Arno to join him. While they worship different gods in different ways, I'm sure he'd respect the man's dedication to duty and it's their duty to make sure the people have their say... and to prevent further anarchy from erupting.

He'd probably dislike Felinder, though. Probably knows him from previous encounters, but never able to see him thrown behind bars.

Progress Update: I have finished creating your character tokens for the game. For this game, I will be using Google Drawings and sharing the links in the description of the campaign. It will allow me some freedom to access it at work since Roll20 doesn't like cell phones if you don't pay them money. It can be a bit tricky to manipulate at times admittedly and it's a pain in the ass to hide parts of the map you shouldn't know about yet, but if you move the map accidentally, a quick Undo will put it back in order. I will get the gameplay thread up to start things off once we're all established here I at least have that much completed.

Anyway, to follow suit with Tasha, I live in Wisconsin. I work 2nd shift, so afternoons and nights are taken until midnight here. I can post when I wake up and when I get home. I also tend to play live games with a group on Wednesday and Friday, so if I'm slow to post those nights, that's why.

As a GM, I admire players who can see other ways of playing than going full-on murderhobo (Going murder-hobo is am option, but there's always more) and praise creative solutions to problems. As long as eveeryone is having fun, I'm sure no problems will be had.

Also be ready for things to get personal with you characters. I'm not afraid to raise the stakes for one PC or another every now and again in the name of character development. So, if you want moments like this, let me know and I can set something up down the line. Make a wishlist of magic items and things as well. I may feel generous and toss a few bones your way when the time comes.

Hey, all. Sorry about the first message, but it was a question I wanted to get out there, and I was stuck at work on my phone. I apologize if it came across a bit out of nowhere.

Looking forward to seeing how this particular group of yahoos does against the infernal machinations of a mad inquisitor. As work is a bit of a hastle and never consistent, my posting time is typically in the afternoon or middle of the night. I live in British Columbia, Canada, which puts me on Pacific Standard Time.

Felinder seems to run in a slightly lower class group of people than most of the rest of you. I think having him have a history with Johann works. As for Lonnie, there's no reason he couldn't know him, but Felinder would probably consider him more of an 'easy mark' than a friend.

I could see him being a potential source for Tasha, though whether the information he'd give her is real is up for debate. I don't think he'd lie outright, but he probably wouldn't be above embellishing details.

Hey all. I envision Isabelle as somewhat of a spoiled rich kid who's been disowned by her family and is acting out more to stick it in their eye than out of any real motivation to join a rebellion. Her parents sent her to the Egorian Academy in the hopes that the discipline needed to summon devils would curb her wild side, it didn't. After graduation she returned home and began dating, much to her parent's dismay (which was the whole point), a boy from the wrong side of town. This is the straw that broke the camel's back and her parents cut her off and as such she is currently living in the city proper rather than on the Sarini estate. She finds herself in Aria park looking for her boyfriend when the whole thing kicks off.

As an aside to GM SilentSage, someone in the recruitment thread had mentioned about acquiring a psuedodragon as part of their Noble Scion feat so I took that idea and ran with it. The goal is to take the Familiar exploit as my 7th level exploit as well as taking the Improved Familiar feat at 7th level and converting Valarithyx into my familiar, if she lives that long. Until then she is just a family pet who will be a non-entity more often than not.

As for myself, my name is Mike and I'm 51 years old. I live in the northwest suburbs of Chicago (Schaumburg, to be exact, so I'm in the same time zone as GM SilentSage ) and have worked for American Airlines since 1985. I work from 0530 to 1400 Monday through Friday (I usually get up around 0, my god, 330) and am off weekends. I can post almost anytime during the day but am usually offline during the evening hours when my wife an daughter are home.
I began playing D&D in 1979 while in high school with AD&D and then through all it's iterations (except 4th edition, they lost me there) but have yet to pick up 5th edition and try it out.

Yes, that is what I would like to see. It also means we don't have to use this format every time we say something out of character, we can just lump it all together in a nice neat spoiler.

On the subject of location and probable posting time, I live in Indiana and I'm still in school, I sometimes have lots of time but my schedule is very erratic, I will always post at least once a day though. I also bought a sap for a reason, Lonnie ain't no murderer, he'll sack you really good with that lucern but he will do his damnedest to not just kill you.

That works for me. Tasha doesn't spend all of her time in town, being a caravan guard and all. (Also an excuse for the low-ish knowledge skills.) So meeting some of the other PCs and going together makes sense, just to catch up with them as well.

I do try to play that way as well, but I'm flexible. I'll probably pick up a sap as well. Though, I imagine there'll be a situation where we might need to... silence someone permanently so that they don't share information about us to the government. Although, I'll be picking up a sap as well, if that's alright with you.

@GM, what's your take on newspapers in Golarion? Is there anything of the sort? There are printing presses, but I'd imagine those for books. Are we going to have to come up with the idea of a newspaper on our own?

That'd be great! Tasha might be somewhat suspicious to a obvious confidence man and scam artist (No offense, of course :) ), but information about the underworld and its state would be something she's very interested in. Even if her eyebrow might be permanently raised at some of the 'personal achievements' of Zelinder.

I'm fine with anyone and everyone getting saps if they want them. If there's anything I learned while playing this, a city wide rebellion is far from bloodless for anyone. Still, sparing lives when you can matters some.

Also, as a little formatting thing, I like my actions spelled out for me. As such, when posting, I hope you all can follow this format for my convenience.

I'm cool with it, but she'd wouldn't exactly like it if you referred to her as a pet. Tiny they may be, they still think of themselves as dragons. You'd probably end up as friends if treated well enough though.

Considering you're not the only one writing news against the current government, I'd imagine there'd be some way to get news around in some paper format aside from writing out papers and magically copying them over and over. There might be a few other papers though, so the Crier isn't going to be the only one.

As another progress report, the gameplay thread should come up pretty soon. Just needed to shake off the morning sleepiness.

I understand that. It took me forever to think of a name for her. I finally found something from Owen K.C. Stephens from an old Dragon magazine article about dragon names (Link). Her name means "Noble Warrior" in Draconic.

Hey, GM, just a quick question regarding tenses:

I noticed the post is in past simple tense, e.g.: (Tasha scribbled a caricature of Lord Thrune), while on the forums here I've noticed we usually use past continuous. (Tasha scribbles a caricature of Lord Thrune)

I've found the latter to be a bit better for PbP, in case someone or something interrupts the action, but I've also worked with Past Simple, so it's not an issue. Just making sure we're all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Post coming up!

Sorry for the thread derail but an Iron Gods game I'm in just lost one of our players and we're looking for a replacement. The current party consists of a Human Gunslinger (pistolero) (myself), a Ratfolk Investigator (empiricist), a Android Fighter, and a Half-elf Inquisitor (sacred beastmaster).
We're looking for an arcane caster who can bring some healing to the table as well (our Inquisitor didn't take CLW as a spell known). Thinking either a Witch with the Healing hex or a Bard with CLW (not trying to pigeonhole anyone, though).
You can find the Discussion thread here (Link) and the Gameplay thread here (Link).
If you're interested please leave a concept/build in the Discussion thread.
Thanks,
Mike

Ack! I mis-remembered that commercial. I was, in fact, TRYING to reference that.

After a bit of feedback, I am going to pose to you a question on how encounters can be run in the future. Who here is ok with me rolling your initiatives an/or your various saves for you? On the plus side, it would help the game move faster. On the downside, it takes some of the control away from the player.

Thoughts? Concerns?

Human Id Bloodrager 1 | HP 12/12 | AC 17 T 12 FF 15 | Fort 3 Ref 2 Will 0 | Initiative +2 | Rage 2/5

I'm typically fine with not rolling intit and making up a variant of "Lonnie reacts quickly to the present danger!" or "Lonnie racts surprisingly slowly." So count me as a vote for GM controlled init.

Female Human Fighter 8 | HP 43/76 | AC 24, T 10 FF 24 | Fort +8, Ref +3, Will +5 (+2 add vs m.e., +8 add. vs Fear) | CMD 22 | Init +0 | Perception +10

I support this idea, as rolling for it does take a lot of time. Could also work for Perception, too, but not when someone's looking for something specifically, I suppose.

Also, is it okay for a Cheliaxian to call another Cheliaxian an imp? Or a half-Cheliaxian? Questions, questions.

And thanks again for running this Adventure and getting this specific group together. This could be a very promising run if everyone can stick around.

I pose yet another question for the group to discuss and mull over. While we all know there is a chance of critical success in the group... should there also be a chance for critical failures? I happen to know of a convenient little crit generator that my live group and I have used throughout our campaigns. I would apply the effects, but you would still get to keep your multipliers and do the extra damage. Once again, I ask for your thoughts and concerns.

Female Human Fighter 8 | HP 43/76 | AC 24, T 10 FF 24 | Fort +8, Ref +3, Will +5 (+2 add vs m.e., +8 add. vs Fear) | CMD 22 | Init +0 | Perception +10

+2 from me, if that's how this went.

Regarding the crit generator, I'd be down for that. Never used one before, and now is a good time as any for extra effects.

And, Lonnie, if you feel like using that Opening Strike ability, feel free to roll for Tasha's attack if she's eligible in the situation. I hereby waive my right to b*+!$ about any embarassing or disfiguring crit fail results that occur from you doing so. :) Feel free to describe them, too!

I've been rolling with the assumption that Lonnie at least knows everyone in the party but is only good friends with Tasha. Growing up in the same circles and all.

Female Human Fighter 8 | HP 43/76 | AC 24, T 10 FF 24 | Fort +8, Ref +3, Will +5 (+2 add vs m.e., +8 add. vs Fear) | CMD 22 | Init +0 | Perception +10

Alright, sounds good to me! That's by far the most predominantly good party I've ever been a part of, and we even have 2 LG characters - and I thought they were like unicorns! Should be quite interesting to get involved into the darker parts of the rebellion, I'm already getting giggly.

Also, I have to say that the 'sharp as a marble' line literally (literally literally) made me spill beer over my keyboard. Until today, I didn't think that was a thing that actually occured. Kudos to you, and no offense to Johann!

Like you, I will also be keeping notes. Even now, I'M coming up with nicknames for your future wanted posters. How does 'Closed Casket' Lonnie sound as an example?

This is by far the quickest moving PBP I've ever been a part of! I am thankful to be in the company of such active posters.

Don't you dare, He'll cry.

Female Human (Chelaxian) Arcanist 1
Character Information:
[HP: 7]; [Armor Class: 12; Touch: 12; Flat Footed: 10]; [BAB: +0; CMB: +0; CMD: 12]; [Saves: Fortitude: +1; Reflex: +2; Will: +2]; [Initiative: +6]; [Perception: +0]

Isabelle would be the odd one out, I would imagine, seeing as her circle of friends wouldn't mesh too well with the others in the party.
