Sorry for the silence! I'll try and get something up later.

Ephemeral GameMaster

The impending post will have to wait for tomorrow, sorry. The temperatures here got a bit warm, and the home office hasn't been outfitted with our window unit A/C just yet. I haven't abandoned you, I promise.

No worries, things are still a little nuts for me. I've barely had a chance to read the boards, much less post.

But yeah, you gotta have a cool, comfortable place to write. The future of Kintargo depends on it!

Ephemeral GameMaster

I haven't forgotten you, my lovelies. I will probably start dropping mini-post bombs later on to keep the thing from just being a wall of text.

Ephemeral GameMaster

I have not been able to get any of the writable pdfs I've found of the Rebellion Sheet to function on my Google Drive. How would you guys like that to be housed?

Ephemeral GameMaster

A word on 'Denny'...

I tried to imagine a nickname based on a child's linguistic development. "Darian" felt like an easy one for a child to mish-mash the consonants, so "Darian" became "Daniar."

Next, I feel I've noticed children's tendency to drop fading consonants from the end of words, so "Daniar" becomes "Dania" fading further into "Dani."

"Dani" turns into "Denny" once we take an excited child trying to talk quickly but still fumbling pronunciation and further reinforced by how it sounds to the outside ear.

A totally unnecessary explanation, but I thought it was cool!

Flight of the Silver Ravens Rebellion Sheet!

Look it over, and let me know what you think. I can give everyone edit access though I will probably lock down some of the cells housing formulas. A couple I edited from the original creator's sheet got quite involved.

Send me a PM with the email I should grant permission.

Ephemeral GameMaster

Moving the Rebellion Sheet to the campaign header.

Also, how do we feel about random encounters? As written, I am interpreting the adventure to suggest rolling based on when the party is actively exploring the city...which ironically may not happen too frequently as you all split up and have your normal lives for appearance's sake.

Are you interested in more personal REs, some of which would be pure RP scenes v. the more strictly combat/conflict oriented encounters the text provides? this might cause a little slow down regarding when characters meet up, but it may give people some things to do while other characters are off doing things, like say, learning to "dance".

Ephemeral GameMaster

I've sent some PMs. Hopefully this has not gone unnoticed. :)

Ephemeral GameMaster

I haven't received any feedback on the rebellion sheet. Everything look correct? Are we ready for forward movement on that piece? We still doing some preliminary RP?

@Darian: I'm going to get the Aulamaxa Estate scene going, but probably tomorrow if you are willing to pencil me in. I'm pretty sure we can both do some rapid posting if we're on at the same time. I'm super tired today, so I probably won't be super quick at the moment.

Anyone else who wants some RP with me, set me up a scene and introduce the NPCs you want me to play, and I will get some spoilers going!

I like the sheet, though I think we should find a way to list possible actions we can take like in the book.

As is: I think we should try and recruit either two teams, or a team and supporters.

1 team - Street Performers
If we get a 2nd team - Freedom Fighters

Ephemeral GameMaster

Action list done.

I think we need supporters, and badly, especially since we don't have a recruiter. We should probably almost always have that action as one of our actions for the week in order to combat attrition.

I think that's not a bad first and second team plan. Phineas will be pushing for Street Performers -> Sneaks (Eventually Spies) -> Sneaks (Eventually Sabateurs) as his general plan, but it won't be hard to convince him to slow down and get a security team in place.

Saboteurs seem very, very good once we can pass the check more or less automatically. +2 to everything we do and keeping our notoriety pinned at 0 seems like it will be very handy. Its got a pretty hefty drawback for failure though and they're pricey, so definitely not something we'll be doing immediately.

The sheet looks good to me! We will probably iron out any issues once we start using it.

Yes, the members of a team count towards the Membership which I will adjust if you haven't already.

I'd like to do that, but since I've been cold on the posts since I left on vacation I think it might be best to simplify and gloss it over a bit for now, just so I'm not holding us up any further.

Ephemeral GameMaster

You're not really holding anything up, Galen. I think right now, the team is making some initial Rebellion related decisions such as agreeing on which Rebellion actions to start off doing and who is the manager of the Rebellion's currently only team (Fushi sisters). Feel free to provide your own two cents naturally. I have sent you a PM regarding some character questions as well when you have time.

Ok, guys/gals. I really can't do much except random RP until you all come up with your first rebellion actions.

I saw some talk, but nothing decided. Unless I'm misreading, I see you are deliberating between:

  • Recruit Supporters
  • Recruit Team
  • Earn Gold

Since you can only do two at the moment, please finalize, so we can see what kind of things happen!

Also the Actions Available now has a teeny tiny triangle note showing the complete list with (*) for those you can perform currently.

And unless someone else wants to request it, Isabel the Silver Dove will be managing the Fushi Sisters since she has shown willingness.

Seconded. It makes sense to start with.

I'd suggest as a plan that we try to recruit as many teams as we are allowed as quickly as possible - we'll probably have to get gold etc along the way. Once we have our teams we can get supporters/improve our current teams etc.

Ephemeral GameMaster

Locking in actions, Gather Supporters, Recruit Team.

Do you want me to roll the organizational checks, or would any of you prefer to do it? We can rotate who rolls between the five of you if you'd like.

I will roll your event check and the end of phase activities (if no event) in 24 hours and summarize any unresolved spoiler events so Week 1 will end with all Rebellion and Personal activities with definite conclusions so as to be able to affect Week 2.

Don't forget, you can request to do things aside from the Rebellion actions as a unit. If the five of you want to go skulk around the streets or arrange to all attend a social event, I am more than happy to create a scene which will allow complications that have to be worked out in "real time" versus just the narrative time the organizational checks represent. As I mentioned before, if you guys are never together and doing things actively as your new alter egos, it will be hard for me to justify rolling random encounters unless I start running individual encounters for each of you moving around the city which just seems messy and overly complex. At that point you'd all be playing solo games with me and this thread which just devolve into the place we summarize the Weekly actions.

Any questions, thoughts, problems, or suggestions are encouraged!

Just a couple of thoughts:

It seems that only Isabel and myself have really taken an interest in side-rp, for the moment. I'm more than willing to continue RP scenes, but so nobody is feeling left out, perhaps we should focus more on group scenes as Pin suggested. I'd rather all of us take part than just a couple. Then, if during those same downtime periods, if anyone has some side-RP they wanna do, it can be done in spoilers. Thoughts?

Also: on the Rebellion sheet, I cannot see the notes you mentioned, Pin. Probably because my play is limited entirely to mobile devices.

Ephemeral GameMaster

I admit I'm getting a little concerned. I'm only really getting any consistent contact from two of you. I understand not posting in the gameplay thread if you don't really have anything to add or don't desire any "filler" RP, but total silence on the topics which affect the whole group feels like there's more to it.

Are we at a place where people are losing interest? Real Life interference? Don't like how I am handling things? Waiting on something you're expecting from me that I forgot or overlooked?

Please don't leave me wondering! :)

Go team! We have supporters now!

So, I apologize for being a little off on posting for this game recently. I've been quite happy with your GMing, Pin, and intend to continue with this game. My recent lack of posting has been a combination of a few things; I've been unusually busy IRL (which has just quieted down), and I originally intended to try doing a scene with Galen setting up our initial spymastering/hiring, but missed Galen was out for the week. When he got back and expressed interest in moving foward more quickly, I didn't pick it up and wrap things up like I probably should have.

Ah, one question; we noted we recruited sneaks here. I was going to suggest we do that, actually, once I realized what we had with the Fushi sisters, as the street performers have gathering information covered and that would help expand our options more. The initial fluff discussion had Galen recruiting from his street performer contacts; perhaps, after we talk things over with the Fushi sisters, he would look to little lowcleft instead?

Um. I'm not entirely sure how to smoothly move forward--should I go ahead and do a general writeup of a week's activities (maybe Avrora, Galen and I should all do that, since we've been rather quiet?) Or drill down on any other specifics Phineas might be interested in doing?

I think the only thing of interest other than meeting with Galen and getting the initial team recruited that Phineas had planned was to try and go start preliminary research on the title history for the property--I'm assuming those records are kept in an official government building somewhere. Pin, do you think I should write up a scene for that, or just summarize it and have you fill in the results of the investigation?

Ephemeral GameMaster

Honest truth of it is that all of the actions being described could be summarized in a single post with a couple of sentences and a bunch of dice rolls.

If you would like to take the title investigation into the realm of interesting and not just fluff cover for why Phineas is visiting Laria often, the Mummy's Mask AP actually introduced a Research Combat-like mechanic that I actually thought was pretty clever since it allowed players to have an ongoing non-combat encounter that changed over time based on facts discovered and research locations. I would be more than happy to pull that out and make the property title stuff more fun for Phineas Aceron, Esq., Attorney-at-Infernal-Law.

Even if you would rather keep simplistic or fluff, you're more than welcome to write up a scene if you'd like. Or you can start a scene, and I can work with you on it once I review the "Research Combat". :D

So this interaction that's been going on has been GREAT to read - really good stuff and so from my perspective I don't want it to be assumed that my interest is waning at all. Darian and Isabel have set the bar high and it was my intention to rise to that level of RP and writing.

My issue strictly has to do with (a) being on vacation and trying to (b) get back into work mode along with (c) family and holiday RL stuff, with (d) the guilt-spiral of needing to make a splash in the game but not writing my way through the block. Some Galen "what's he doing in various areas with various personas" has been rolling around in my head for days now, but I haven't gotten it to (virtual) paper. So that's on me.

My best anticipation of getting back in the writing/posting mode is tomorrow (Friday) night and the weekend, so I'll redouble my efforts to get my posting momentum back in.

Ok, I had some issues with the website and some writer's block, but eventually decided to just get things rolling, so I have a post up!

There are two more scenes I would like to write for this week; a talk with the Fushi sisters, to discuss how their skills can best be used, and a meeting with Isabel to discuss the decryption and establish a pretext that can be used to meet outside of the long roads coffeehouse. Both of those will occur chronologically later in the week, after the research; can I go ahead and get those kicked off in parallel, or should I wait on the results of the investigation first?

Ephemeral GameMaster

@Phineas: Unless you think the investigation will affect the later events I would say that's totally fine. I think we have several events occurring that are all over the place chronologically, but at the moment I don't really see problem with the timeline.

@Everyone: If I do see chronological contradictions, I will mention it and hard stop an event until preceding events have resolved just in case. Otherwise, your Rebellion week is yours to resolve outside of my GM duties.

Dangerous Times: Interesting question here...

The description allows a Mitigation roll. The description of that roll seems to run counter to your current Focus of Secrecy. I feel like I'm fine with the roll, but I think successful or not, it should increase your Notoriety a bit since it would be acknowledging a rebellion actually exists at this stage. Plus at least one of your alter egos would have to do the work putting the name of some masked vigilante on the people's lips. How does everyone feel about this?
