Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
One thing at a time, Diva, and put that away.
Tarnagius motions to the sword Kethaera is carrying.
We need to keep his attention on either us or something away from the back of the shop.Unfortunately only thing that comes to mind is as a pair of slovenly drunk lovers looking for privacy and getting belligerent when he tries to kick us out.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Putting away her sword, Kethaera smiles at Tarnagius's suggestion.
"Nothing wrong with that plan. Let me give you some acting advice Tarnagius: sometimes you got to make do with the roles you're given. If you pout about it you're sure to make a poor performance and you'll be lucky not to have the audience hurl tomatoes at you but if you swallow your pride and don't let it get you down, and do your best and work hard to do the best damn job at the role you're given then your performance will succeed with flying colors. So don't worry too much about the fact you've been given a bad role, just concentrate on doing the best performance you can do," she whispered to him.
Jules Corvid |
Jules watched the guard considering his options. It was unlikely he could drop the man before he could get a warning off so he had to consider his other options.
DM Hell's Fox |
All of a sudden, Jules hears something alike a cat making a leap, and feels something land upon his shoulder. "Need some help?" Whispers the elusive Vendalfek.
What would you like to do, Phillip? You can easily join either Tarnagius' group, or Pylos' group. Or you could do something different.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
"Hm...I see. Well things happen Phillip so it's not your fault. Tarnagius and I were about to pretend to be drunken romantics or something but this might be useful. We could pose as drunken friends just wandering around town," Kethaera suggested.
Pylos Thrune |
"That actually sounds like a pretty good idea," Pylos said, mulling things over. As he thought, he slowly spun Kethaera's ring over his finger. "How many would you expect to be useful to our group?"
Jules Corvid |
Jules couldn't help but smile as the fairy Dragon made his presence know. He mimed instructions to put the guard to sleep.
DM Hell's Fox |
Vendalfek nods, gives Jules a playful little headbutt, then slinks off to the guard.
CCG Will: 1d20 ⇒ 5
With a yawn and stretch, the guard curls up on the ground and begins to snore.
DM Hell's Fox |
Go ahead, Kethaera
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Kethaera smiled as she quickly messed up both Philip's and Tarnagius's hairs, wrinkling their clothes and doing the same thing to her hair and clothes.
"Don't have any wine or whiskey bottles to make the scene look more believable I'm afraid. We'll have to just do without them," she told them, "Now act like you're completely drunk and follow my lead. And just make stuff up like...I don't know...pink elephants maybe."
Taking a deep breath and exhaling she immediately went into a stance and posture of someone who was completely and utterly drunk. The half-elf slurred her words around and walked like she was off balance.
"Hey! This isn't....this isn't....hiccup...Pismo Beach! Hey guys! I think we...hiccup...took a wrong turn at Albuquerque! This ain't hiccup burp hiccup Pismo Beach!"
Jules Corvid |
Jules quietly slipped past the sleeping guard and through the cracked door.
DM Hell's Fox |
When pretending to be drunk in front of a guard, would that count as a Bluff, Disguise, or Perform (Act) check? Doesn't really matter though, since none of you have any of those. Let's roll dice!
Kethaera Cha: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Tarnagius Cha: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (17) - 1 = 16
Phillip Cha: 1d20 ⇒ 11
Guard SM: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20perfect. Just perfect
As the trio stagger to the guard, he seems disgusted with their theatrics. "Just what do ya think you're doing, staggerin around like some drunkards fore it's even drinkin hour?"
As Tarnagius gets closer and burps, he pulls out his mace. "Git off! You don't even smell of liquor! Get outta here fore I get the boys and club ya to the ground."
Jules and Vendalfek slip into the back of the salt works unnoticed. This room has a few boxes and barrels of rock salt, along with a few small bags of common table salt. Apart from the double doors leading to the main entrance, Jules spots two separate doors along the side, both of them closed. The room itself is burning like a sauna. The temperature is a burning 95 degrees (35C) with no airflow and the sickening scent of too much salt.
DM Hell's Fox |
You can strike first if you want, since he's only threatened you. Is that what you'd like to do?
DM Hell's Fox |
Kethaera: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Tarnagius: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Phillip: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
Guard: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
1. Phillip, Kethaera, Tarnagius
2. Guard if he's still alive
Catching the guard unawares, Phillip springs into action with a sudden slice with his axe! Tarnagius drops the act as well, and tries to grapple the guard, though even while he's surprised, the guard still manages to side step just barely.
Kethaera's turn
Do Pylos and Laria have any plans while this takes place?
Jules Corvid |
Jules winced at the smell but moved forward inspecting the first door and listening for what might lie beyond it.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
DM Hell's Fox |
It's hard to hear over the furnace in what Jules can guess is the next room, but through this door he hears something... like laughter? A man's voice, that much he's sure of. Furthermore, Jules notices that this room has been locked shut with both a padlock and a chain.
Pylos Thrune |
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
"How do you think the others are faring?" Pulos wondered. Looking around to make sure they weren't being watched, he whispered, "Blossom, think you can check on the diva's group?"
DM Hell's Fox |
Pylos hears a man yell out in pain (as Phillip slices him with an axe).
Blosodriette says "I'm still on a very tight leash. I can't do scouting stuff, Pylos."
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Kethaera rolled her eyes.
"Damn it. Leave it to Phillip to go right to being violent. The man really needs to learn some subtlety," the half-elf thought to herself.
She tried to knock the man out, by hitting him with the hilt of her sword.
Trying to do nonlethal damage here. Not sure what to roll though.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Thank you Phillip!
Nonlethal Attack with Sword Hilt: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 2 - 4 = 5 Well that's not good...
DM Hell's Fox |
Kethaera tries to whack the guard with the hilt of her sword, but she's not used to handling her weapon in such a way and the attack misses. The guard freaks out and steps back towards the door. He opens it and bellows "HELP!! I'M BEIN ATTACKED!" He then holds his position and uses his mace to try to parry any incoming attack.
other CCG: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Kossrani: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 dayum!
1. Phillip
2. Kossrani
3. Kethaera
4. CCG
5. Tarnagius
Phillip's turn
Jules and Pylos both hear this cry for help
Pylos Thrune |
Thought she had a range of a couple hundred yards or so. Maybe that was feet...
At the stranger's cry for help, Pylos let loose and expletive and gripped his favorite whip. "Laria, stay here and keep an eye out, sounds like things are getting out of control," he said before rushing forward. "Blossom, you still have that garrote from the other day?"
Moving towards the fight.
DM Hell's Fox |
Laria shouts back to Pylos "You got it! I'll holler if anyone comes."
"Hell yes, this is my new favorite!" Blosodriette answers.
Pylos Init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Bloso Init: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
1. Blosodriette, Pylos, Phillip
2. Kossrani
3. Kethaera
4. CCG
5. Tarnagius
still Phillip's turn
Blosodriette will arrive in 2 turns, and Pylos in 4
DM Hell's Fox |
Phillip tries to silence the guard once and for all, but the guard saw his attack coming! He holds his mace on each end, and stops the axe from bashing his face!
Ranged Touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2wow
Koss Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 15
Kossrani the heavily armed dwarf trudges to the front with an inflated sac of something. Before he gets the chance to throw it, it slips out of his grasp and explodes on the floor! Kossrani is covered in sticky goo stuff!
Kethaera's turn
DM Hell's Fox |
Kethaera waits just a second so the guard's ... guard is down.
Readying a non lethal strike for when the guard's total defense wears off
NL: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (3) - 2 = 1
Even though she waited for the opportune moment, she just can't get a good pommel strike in.
The guard hurriedly bellows back to his allies "What's taking you!? I'm gonna die at this rate!" He keeps his guard up, but spends his time retreating. Full Withdraw
"Don't worry! I'll get help" Yells one of the other CCG. You hear hurried feet pound the ground before the double doors erupt open. All of a sudden, Jules and Vendalfek are thrown into the melee.
Jules: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Vendal: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 8
1. Blosodriette, Pylos, Phillip
2. Kossrani
3. Kethaera, Jules
4. CCG
5. Tarnagius, Vendalfek
Tarnagius' turn, followed by Phillip
Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
Gods dammit, this was never supposed to be a siege!
Tarnagius chases down the fleeing guard, stabbing at him with his kukri.
Charge
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
DM Hell's Fox |

Tarn AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16miss
Dmg: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6N/A
Tarnagius charges after the fleeing guard, completely ignoring the cantankerous dwarf. The dwarf makes a risky play by throwing his weight into Tarnagius' path and uses his lower center of gravity to body check Tarnagius to the ground.
Phillip's turn. Pylos is down to 3 turns, Blosodriette to 1.
DM Hell's Fox |
A good smash from Phillip's axe pierces through the dwarf's armor and makes a deep gash in his arm.
The dwarf can't help but focus down the prone Tarnagius, drawing his heavy mace, he smashes Tarnagius across the chest!
Mace: 1d20 + 5 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 5 + 4 = 28
Dmg: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Kethaera and Jules' turn
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Crap. Nice time we stick to the plan and if the plan asks for us to pretend we're drunks, then that's our story and we're sticking to it. Sorry country song stuck in my head!
Kethaera attempts once again to take down the guard.
NL: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 2 - 4 = 17 Well that's better.
Also note to self: Pick Summon Monster spells next level up!
DM Hell's Fox |

Kethaera crit chance: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (6) - 2 = 4
NL dmg: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Kethaera also ignores the dwarf in order to race past and attack the first guard. This time however, it works to her advantage. The dwarf tries to tackle her to the ground, but Tarnagius reaches out and hooks him with the kukri, tearing his leg and pulling him to the floor. Kethaera continues to race past, and lands a nice thunk on the guard's head, though it doesn't knock him out.
Jules' turn.
DM Hell's Fox |
In the distance, yes
Jules walks up and slashes at the CCG, but defensively. The man steps back to avoid getting his legs cut. He laughs and yells out "I'll turn you into jelly!," as he threatens with his mace. Jules feels startled by the man's outright aggression. Jules is shaken for 3 rounds.
Meanwhile, Kethaera goes head to head with the guard, dodging his strike. The other CCG runs around the nearby cart to take advantage of a toppled over Tarnagius, but Tarnagius blocks it with his shield.
Vendalfek yells out "Don't worry! I'll save you!," as he casts a spell. The man blinks a few times, but nothing happens. "Err. Next time!"

Dazzle: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Tarnagius' turn, followed by Phillip. Pylos will arrive in 2 rounds, Blosodriette can act next round.
Pylos Thrune |
Running forward, making sure his mask was in place in case one of the CCG escaped, he noticed Tarnagius in trouble. "Blossom, help Tarnagius!"
DM Hell's Fox |
The imp stops in her tracks. While still invisible, she responds with disdain "Why should I?"
If you decide to try to convince her, I will need a diplomacy check.
DM Hell's Fox |
With a powerful slice, followed by a sickening splatter of blood, Phillip hacks right through the Dwarf's thick skull! Part of his upper head flips off, revealing blood and brains underneath.
Tarnagius' turn.
