Phillip scoops Jules up (although he accidentally stepped on him) and the group turns tail and flees back the way they came. The Strix does not chase, but cackles and howls like a wild animal, shooting arrows after them. Two of the arrows land solidly in Phillip's back, but he dashes onwards all the same. Phillip takes 7 damage
Once the danger is clear, Tarnagius and Kethaera stumble upon the group fleeing. Nisha quickly stabilizes Jules' bleeding, but apologizes for not having any extracts available.
Pylos Thrune |
Pulling off a snappy salute, Pylos reported, "Sir, one captive rescued, and one would-be ninja unconscious, sir! The second captive is still in an undetermined location, sir! So far there is no hostile pursuit, sir!"
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
After seeing that Nisha was alright and giving the female tiefling a hug and trying not to cry at seeing the alchemist safe and sound, Kethaera took out her wand and used it to heal the others quickly as soon as Phillip suggested it.
As she healed her companions, she spoke to the others about what to do, "Oh dear! We have to save him. I don't want anything bad happen to Velk! Oh why didn't I send him away!?"
Wasn't sure if I needed to do a Use Magic Device skill since I think according to the rules, you only have to use that skill if a wand contains a spell not on your spell list. Cure serious wounds is on the bard spell list, but at the moment, Kethaera isn't that powerful to use it. So, I might have made a mistake here then. Sorry about that GM. The first roll is for Jules, and the other two are for Phillip. Please update your hp y'all, so I'll know if I need to heal some more.

Jules Corvid |
Jules is full now
The Halfling sputtered a cough awake. "Well, mostly to plan." He looked about and seeing the party plus Nisha gathered he leaned up. "The Dragon is still in there. Too of the bell tower I believe. I couldn't see him but the strix spoke of him."
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
"Strix," Kethaera asked, puzzled. "Why would a strix be leading a bunch of tiefling thugs?"
Knowledge (local): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13 Trying to see if she knows anything about the strix.
DM Hell's Fox |
No magic device check needed.
Strix are savage humanoids with onyx skin, pointed ears, pupiless eyes, and a 12 foot long wingspan. They live in the mountains, and viscously hate humans. Strix rarely live beyond their 4th decade.
Nisha hugged Kethaera tightly, with tears beginning to drip down her cheeks. She was weary, bruised, dirty, and her eyes had dark bags under them. Despite this, she was still her sweet, shy self, just less energetic.
Do you want to go back for Vendalfek?
Pylos Thrune |
"Then if we've got everything settled, we should get going," Pylos said, looking over the others. "We've got one little dragon to rescue and one puffed up crow to defeather. Everybody ready?"
DM Hell's Fox |
How would you like to approach? Head on blazing glory, or stealthy like?
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Stealth this time.
Kethaera raised an eyebrow at Phillip.
"Well as long as it doesn't involve you doing something incredibly evil Phillip and it's mainly stopping this Strix's evil plans I like your plan."
"Besides isn't it odd that there's a Strix here? Strix viciously hate humans."
The diva explains that Strix are savage humanoids with onyx skin, pointed ears, pupiless eyes, and a 12 foot long wingspan. They live in the mountains and rarely live beyond their 4th decade.
Kethaera was a bit concerned. She hoped Phillip didn't cause too much of a problem. She didn't want people to see them as just another group of thugs but as a group that wanted to bring back hope to the city and its people.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Kethaera gave Phillip a look of utter disbelief.
"Umm...have you gone literally insane? Although I have to admit, you would do good in theater."
She chuckled a bit at Philip's behavior. He wasn't so bad.
"But I do have some spells ready to help. I'm just not sure about their range. I'll focus on healing all of you."
Oops! I almost forgot to heal Nisha!

"And what big crow are you talking about?"
Jules Corvid |
Jules dusted himself off and smiled at Nisha.
Then he regarded the party, "If we are to do this quietly, we need to do it soon. I overheard them talking. They are planning on moving their opertion and they know we are the Silver Ravens. I overheard the attic talking. They want to use Vendalfek as bait and or a bargaining chip. They will be highly on guard."
Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
For possibly the first time ever, Tarnagius cracks a joke.
The attic talked? I think the halfling's gone mad.
He suddenly becomes serious, however.
It's incredibly suspicious that they know who we are though. Is it possible the witch turned on us?
Pylos Thrune |
"I don't think Nisha turned on us, Tarnagius, we haven't exactly been low-key lately," Pylos said, giving a small smile to the tiefling woman. "Anyway, we should head out quickly if they're gonna change locations."
DM Hell's Fox |
Nisha hesitates. Tugging Pylos' shirt, she timidly says "I-I'm sorry. I really didn't mean to, but they have an enchanter. The words just... left my mouth."

Pylos Thrune |
"See? Even grumpy here doesn't think it's your fault," Pylos said with a comforting smile as he gave her a gentle hug. "Now, let's go kick some bandit tail!"
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Kethaera attempted to try to be stealthy but stealth wasn't her strong point, as she accidentally knocked over a stack of boards, which in turn knocked over a stack of clay pots, which in turn knocked over a stack of glass panels, and well a domino effect of various loud and noisy things breaking resulted.
"Oops," was all the diva could say as she embarrassingly shrugged.
Since I had the lowest stealth roll I'm assuming that I did a terrible job at being sneaky. Which can be fun but for who I wonder? ;)
Suddenly a black and gray kitten, spooked by the sudden calamity, leapt out and into Kethaera's arms.
"Awww! A cute kitty!"
She smiles cuddling the cat.
wow, she has a one track mind eh?
DM Hell's Fox |
My bad Phillip, I didn't notice. Does that include any armor penalties?
As the group attempts to sneak up to the Humbright, the Strix cries out "Damn them, they're back! Boys, riddle them with bolts!" The Strix doesn't notice everyone, just some.
A tiny voice carries on the wind... "Help! Help me!"

Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
If the little one wasn't inside I'd suggest burning the building down, but we can't be going around killing allies - even the stupid ones - plus the Diva'd be upset.
Tarnagius loops around the back of the building to try and find a window to get inside.
There's gotta be a stained glass window somewhere. This is a church after all.
Pylos Thrune |
"Go fly into a stormcloud, you puffed up crow!" Pylos said, deciding to play distraction against the strix since his approached was noticed.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
After making sure the kitten had fled to safety, Kethaera followed Phillip's example and headed inside as well.

The Strix begins by casting a spell while Kethaera darts inside. Inside, two Tieflings press against a wall for cover and shoot at her. One of them misses completely, but the other gets Kethaera right in the left side of her chest. Kethaera takes 15 dmg
After that, both Phillip and Tarnagius dart into the orphanage from opposite sides. The Tieflings look nervous now.
Jules and Kethaera's turn
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Seriously!? Again!?!!
Jules Corvid |
Jules made sure to continue evading notice and move inside trying to locate their last captured comrade.
keeping stealth moving toward source of cries.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Im not mad at the gm y'all. Just at my luck when it comes to baddies with crossbows.
DM Hell's Fox |
Very rotten luck. Are you still conscious, because I think you still have 1hp?
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Yeah I still got one hp left. I got lucky. But yeah: enemies with crossbows + Kethaera = big trouble for me!

Kethaera runs out of the orphanage and hides behind the broken door while Phillip and Tarnagius begin to enter. The two Tieflings hurridly reload their crossbows and fire once at each. The shot fired at Tarnagius clinks against the brick wall and shatters, but the shot fired at Phillip pierces right through his armored coat and into his chest. Phillip takes 16 damage
Jules sneaks behind Tarnagius, in complete cover from the Tieflings. Although the cries are muffled by the sound of battle, Jules believes the Dragon is kept upstairs, perhaps in the bell tower.
Outside, the Strix aims her bow at Pylos. "Crow! I am a hawk, and you pathetic rabbits are my prey. I will kill you all! And everyone in this fetid city will taste my arrows and talons before I am dead!" With that, Pylos feels a pain in his side. Looking down, he sees an arrow, sticking out just below his left kidney. Pylos takes 8 damage
Everyone's turn. Note that if you want to get into melee with the Tieflings, you will either have to go through 5 feet of difficult terrain, or go out of the orphanage and into the church.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Wait why am I hiding behind the broken door? Just curious.
Kethaera used her wand to heal her wounds. It wouldn't do anyone any good if she got herself killed with these wounds trying to heal everyone.

Jules Corvid |
Jules kept to the shadows and kept moving to where the dragon was being kept.
DM Hell's Fox |
I botted your turn, Kethaera, so I put you out of harm's way. The Strix is 30ft. in the air, or 5ft if you're on the roof. I'm currently waiting on Tarnagius' turn.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
[ooc]Ah okay. And thank you for doing that. Sorry I hadn't posted. Was trying to figure out what to do on my turn. [ooc]
