At first she was outraged by another ridiculous proclamation, but when the lord-mayor locked eyes with her, she felt a slight chill run up back but then again she also shot him a glare that would have killed a medusa on sight, she booed as well, yelling "What the!?!? Sophistication my boot! This is outrageous!"[/ooc]

She waved her fists in the air jumping up and down. [b]"I bet our plights have brought a fear to your jaded and uncaring heart or is that your heartburn acting up?!"

"Gods-damn family," Pylos muttered under his breath as his cousin made his new proclamations. Shaking his head, he turned to Barzillai and yelled, "I have met Her Magistrix Abrogail Thrune, and while evil and cruel, she is at least fair to her subjects! She would never approve of your actions here, which makes me believe that you might not be completely acting in the House of Thrune's best interests!"

Jules caught the glimpse of his contact. Finally, I can get some answers! he thought as he started to try and make his way through the forest of people Thrune threw open the door and only caused a rush with more preposterous proclamations.

Still the halfling did what he could to make it to where he lost sight of his contact. maybe there was still time to track him down before this mob devolved into violence.

Barzillai Thrune laughs at Kethaera's (and the rest of the crowd's) obvious anger to these new proclamations. He is about to respond to Pylos though when suddenly a pile of manure is slung at him. Although the putrid projectile misses him by a mile, the Paracount flinches and spills his red wine all over his fine clothing. With the Lord-Mayor's dignity in danger, his demeanor changes from amused to bellicose. He turns to his guards outside the main double doors and shrieks.

“Enough of this! Nox, run them off, arrest them, or kill them. I don’t care which!”

Then he turns his back and storms back into the opera house, closing the door with a loud slam. The female captain swiftly mobilizes the Dottari. "Draw your weapons! Lethal force is authorized! Send these pathetic rebels packing!"

Meanwhile, Jules has been searching through the crowd for any sight of his contact. Out of the corner of his eye, he sees the noble-looking man running away from the protest. Good thing too, as many of the protesters throw off their cloaks and robes, men and women revealing matching red armbands with the house symbol of Thrune, truncheons, and sadistic grins eager to mete out some "justice". Some of these people are women that Tarnagius was investigating earlier.

Those of you who are perceptive can see that someone in the crowd just threw a dagger at the female captain. The dagger catches her right in the throat, with blood spraying out from all angles. In sheer rage, she pulls the dagger out of her throat, the damage swiftly healing all on its own. Then suddenly she disappears, a cruel grin lingering in your mind.

The real protesters shriek in fright and begin running away from the guards and brutes, trampling everything in their path. Fortunately, the crowd recognize Pylos and Kethaera as great leaders, and make a serious effort to not hinder them.

Everyone is actually fairly close to one another, being no more than 30ft. You can all move as if nothing is difficult terrain, but each round there are going to be protesters trampling over you. Currently, there are 4 brutes threatening Pylos and Kethaera (2 each), 2 spellcasters who are 10ft. away from Tarnagius, and 1 brute threatening Jules. The Dottari are too far away to threaten you at this time.

The brute(1) laughs at Pylos when his estoc doesn't even reach. "Aye, I think you're right 'bout that, but it be you!" he retorts as he swings his light mace. Catching Pylos on the shoulder, the man sneers. Pylos takes 5 damage!

The other three brutes follow suit, one of which attacks Pylos, while the other two focus on Kethaera. Fortunately for our heroes, these brutes seem unprepared for such nimble and armored combatants.

Meanwhile, the brute(5) mocks Jules. "Here little guy, hehe, come get a taste of my thick mace!" Although the man may seem disturbing, his swing is so pathetic that he accidentally disarms himself. The light mace slips out of his hands and lands with a thunk on the cobblestone road.

Of the two women that Tarnagius was inspecting earlier, one of them draws her mace and casts a spell into the crowd! Sheer panic rises as her hands spew fire, catching many citizens in the flames. The other one draws her mace and casts a different spell, imbuing her off-hand with a dark blue magic.

Jules gave the brute a look oozing with sarcasm as he rolled his eyes. "I think your a little flaccid there sir. I, however, am well capable of using my little prick."

Round 1 action:

The Cat lets loose a yowl as he is nocked out of the way of a lady fleeing the spellcasters and flees to Lirandra, huddling between her feet. Lirandra grimaces at the spell casters causing so much panic. They're attacking the people! There must be some way to help them flee, but,..... Yes! She speaks a few quick words and knees to touch the ground. Immediately a thick fog (Obscuring mist) starts to rise around her, rising high enough to black all vision. As it does so, she takes a step back 5ft. away from the spellcasters, the Cat following.

Ah okay. I keep forgetting about the 5 step move! I'm trying to keep from catching Pylos in the line of fire though. Also sorry about the combat questions. A bit rusty on combat. :P

Having already drawn her weapon just as the protest turned ugly, the diva decided on a different approach, hoping to soften up her attackers. Moving a few steps back Kethaera began singing in Auran. The song sounded wispy and flowed like a cool morning breeze. Suddenly out of her mouth floating gently were light blue musical notes. They hovered in the air when she swung her right hand up her shoulder with her fingertips barely touching. The notes vibrated for a few moments before turning into hundreds of light blue razor sharp crystal shards! Smiling a bit she yelled, "Gurth gothrim lye!"

Translation from Elven:

Death to our foes!

Flinging her arm back down she pointed her hand at the four Thrune thugs, causing the shards to point straight at her foes before finally flying right at them!

Kethaera, I can't get you to hit all 4 of the brutes without hitting Pylos, but you can get 3 of them. Sorry about that, I hate making combat maps unless I absolutely have to T-T.

Tarnagius, I'm treating your attack as a charge, which will let you finally hit! Hope that's alright.

Jules, I was very tempted to have you be disarmed as well, but I decided to be nice =P

Absolute chaos reigns supreme upon Aria Park. Guards are beating civilians senseless, thugs are attacking men, women, and children in the streets. Everyone is dashing across the fields, the streets, even swimming across the park pond.

Just before the trampling begins, Kethaera takes a step back and sings out a volley of blue notes that shatter and strike like razor blades! Two of the brutes(2,4) can't dodge the razors, but one of the brutes(3) manages to get out of the way. Just as they're about to retaliate, two of them(3,4) get trampled by the crowd!! They are knocked prone!

In the back, Jules tries to swing at the disarmed brute. Unfortunately, Jules' swing is just as pathetic as the man in front of him. "Haha, you look like a little kid holding a toy swARHG!!" the brute says before he's trampled by the crowd.

Tarnagius charges at the spellcaster(1) with all his might. Holding his longsword in two hands, he deals a massive blow across the spellcaster's chest, nearly cleaving into the other spellcaster. All of a sudden, the fleeing citizens smash into both Tarnagius, and the remaining spellcaster(2).

Finally, Lirandra goes for something on the defensive. Mumbling a few arcane words, the tiefling witch conjures a massive cloud of mist, effectively making it near impossible to attack her. Well, if someone was trying to anyways. Without warning, a bunch of citizens run right through the mist, and knock Lirandra to the ground.

Tarnagius, I decided to use the attack and damage you posted as the attack of opportunity (see below). So I'll need a new set of actions. You are still prone.

Recovering from the trampling crowd, all of the thugs stand back up. Brute(1) laughs as Pylos' estoc misses again. "What's the matter? Praying too hard to Cailean? Hahaha. You're all talk and no bite!" Pylos is shaken!
Beside him, Brute(2) suddenly makes a solid twack on Pylos' arm. The two Brutes laugh together. Pylos takes 3 NL damage!
AND THEN Brute(3) stands up. This provokes an AoO from Pylos
(Assuming he's still alive) the brute dodges around Pylos and Kethaera to help flank against Pylos.

Brute4 stands up and steps up to Kethaera, but doesn't do anything else.

Meanwhile, Brute5 stands back up AoO from Jules, though you're still prone. He picks up his light mace from the ground and gets ready to make a swing against the unfortunate halfling.

Finally, the spellcaster gets up and tries to cast a spell on Tarnagius. Unfortunately, the caster couldn't concentrate with the thrashing swordsman, and despite him still being on the ground, slashes down the spellcaster's leg. She lays on the ground, crippled, before she seems to pass out.

Pylos was getting a bit miffed. All his training was coming for naught, and against mere thugs! When the thug next to him stood up, he immediately attacked him, hoping to stop him from doing any more damage. And to hopefully release some of his anger so he could concentrate better.

AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (11) + 4 = 15
Damage: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 4) = 7

Please let this hit, this is getting ridiculous.

Kethaera, if you take a 5ft. step back you can blast 2 brutes without issue. Unfortunately, any more than that and not only would you hit Pylos, but you would also need a concentration check to cast defensively.

Got it! Doing 5 step and then casting chord of shards. Let's hope this is enough to take down at least two of these thugs.

Quickly moving backwards, as she if was dancing a bit, she quickly cast the same spell again, hoping to take down two of these brutes. She quickly cast her spell, causing razor sharp crystal shards to fly towards her enemies.

Chord of Shards damage: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Chord of Shards damage: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 4) = 5

She really wished that Pylos would have moved out of the way. If she could take down two of these thugs she might be able to take on the other two with her sword.

Result of AoO's: This does not include the normal actions for this round, just the attack of opportunities.

Although Jules tried very hard to slash the brute(5) at the opportune moment, his short sword falls harmlessly on the brute's studded leather armor. Meanwhile, Pylos tries to take advantage of the brute(3) as he stands up. With miraculous luck, Pylos' estoc manages to sink deep into the brute's flesh. Clenching his teeth, the brute turns and starts to flee into the crowd.

Since Pylos was shaken, his attack wouldn't have hit. I decided to spend a DM Intervention point (a little thing of my devising) so that Pylos would actually finally hit something. I feel really bad for your dice rolls. Side Note: Don't forget about your Opportune Parry and Riposte!

Update to Enemy HP and Conditions:

Brute1: Healthy, Pylos adjacent
Brute2: 2 Damage, Pylos adjacent
Brute3: 11 damage, Routing
Brute4: 6 Damage, Kethaera adjacent
Brute5: 2 Damage, all alone
Spellcaster1: DEAD
Spellcaster2: UNCONSCIOUS

Waiting for the actions of: Pylos, Tarnagius, and Lirandra.

HP: 8/8 | Init: +5 | Perc: +4 | AC: 13 | Touch: 13 | FF: 10 | Fort: +1 | Ref: +3 | Will: +4

Lirandra stands up and begins making her way through the fog (away from where the casters where), stopping to heal (hex) anyone wounded (civilian or PC) who she bumps into.

Any attacks within 20ft. of Lirandra (other than area effect attacks) should have a 20% miss chance. This should include the casters (they were both 10ft. away although one's dead anyway), not sure about the thugs since I don't know where they are in relation to Lirandra. Additionally no-one within this area should be able to see (i.e, target by site) anyone else (or even know where they are).

Lirandra might be able to see Pylos, who could definitely use some healing. Alternatively, she could use her hex on a civilian. There are plenty around who have either been knocked out by thugs, or trampled over by others fleeing. Also, Lirandra will bump into Jules. Might be a nice opportunity to tie together.

HP: 8/8 | Init: +5 | Perc: +4 | AC: 13 | Touch: 13 | FF: 10 | Fort: +1 | Ref: +3 | Will: +4

In that case,...

After standing Lirandra steps forward, careful to make sure she's clearly not a threat "You look hurt! I might be able to help if you want?" she says to Pylos, pausing to see if he acquiesces. If he does she touches him and concentrates for a moment Healing Hex: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

Note: If I can see him he must be only 5 ft from me,... therefore any attacks on him (or against him, or any thugs he's in contact with) should have a 20% miss chance

This has always been more my style anyway.

"Yes, many thanks, my friend!" Pylos said to the oddly helpful tiefling. He could feel the energy flowing through him and healing his body. "I greatly appreciate your help, Miss, though now I would suggest you try to help any of the civilians caught in this vile attack."

As Lirandra heals Pylos, and Kethaera blasts two brutes(3,4) dead with her music, Tarnagius charges in for the rescue. With unprecedented power, the now covered in blood noble slices right through the brute's(1) neck! His head flies clean off and lands somewhere in the crowd!

Even though a particularly large wave of panicking people plow through the square, everyone manages to escape their terrifying trample!

A HIT! A HIT! The unnamed brute takes a painful poke into his right arm. "Damn you! You faceless, cowardly scum!" He curses. The man looks ready to turn and flee, but something changes his mind.

Out from behind, two shielded Dottari guards approach the aid the lone brute. The two women are clad in black chain shirts with protective leather, armed with long bows and heavy maces. Both carry a heavy black steel shield bearing the red cross symbol of House Thrune. Behind them stands a male priest wearing a black cloak with the red pentagon of Asmodeus.

The brute turns back to Pylos and spits at him. "Ah, allies, gotta love em." He hunkers down in a defensive stance, waiting for your next move.

Jules ducked through the crowd to near Pylos and Kethaera and was about to speak before the other Thrune lackeys appeared. He thought it better to remain silent and made his way around the newcomers.

Jules is going to try and go unnoticed and get behind the priest if he can.

This battle was seriously not going Pylos's way. First he couldn't hit anything, and now the thug has official backup. He glanced up at the sky, saying a quick prayer to Cayden, before looking back at the thug. The time for quips was over. Time to kick it up a notch.

*headdeskheaddeskheaddeskheaddesk* I can't catch a frakkin' break in this game. I don't think I've ever rolled this poorly for so long in any campaign.
