I'll have something up tonight
DM Hell's Fox |
Sorry Phillip, can't help you there. You're either going to need some lucky rolls, or lots of teamwork.
DM Hell's Fox |
How's the language school? I took a class in university for beginner Japanese, way back when. I found that the class was especially enthusiastic (including the teacher), because of our mutual yet diverse interest in the various facets of Japanese culture.

I hate Kanji, which I know is an uncommon complaint but that's only because they're so nonsensical.
姉 for instance. Woman+city=Older sister? Yeah sure, whatever.
I love it though. It's a good challenge. Plus, at the moment Tokyo is an awesome place to live.
DM Hell's Fox |
I don't think I have my notes anymore, but I remember learning some Kanji and something else. Hiragana I think it was. You can tell it's all escaped me now, yet it was only 2 years ago.
What makes you say Tokyo's an awesome place to live? It seems rather... busy, and loud.
Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
Yeah. Hiragana and Katakana are the two phonetic alphabets. Kanji are horribly hard to remember because there are literally thousands. Your average literate adult has about 2000 they can read easily. I can read like 200? Maybe?
I'm definitely a city mouse. Your "busy and loud" might be my "appropriate level of excitement" your "peace and quiet" my "nothing ever happens here".

That's actually a problem where I live. Everyone in Barnwell says that there isn't anything to do in Barnwell, so they go to Aiken, but people in Aiken say that there isn't anything to do in Aiken (especially given the fact that the mall is limping along), so they go to Augusta, GA or Columbia, SC. And then those people in those areas say that there isn't anything to do in their cities! It's just downright confusing!
DM Hell's Fox |
I live in the middle of a relatively large city (by Canadian standards, anyways), but I get very stressed out in large groups or loud areas. What kinds of things go on in Tokyo that you'd consider exciting? We've got a rodeo/carnival that comes in once a year, and on a daily basis we've got some good theaters (live acting theaters), along with local jazz singers and such.
I hear that too, Kethaera (though I have no idea where those places are). Though I think it may have less to do with "there isn't anything to do" and more do to with "I don't know where to look".
Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
I think those are all towns in South Carolina.
What happens here? Everything happens here. There are jazz festivals, traditional Japanese festivals, centuries-old buddhist temples, rock concerts, world movie premieres, indie comic conventions, restaurants of every cuisine you can name (and several you can't), some of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen, raves in the streets that go for HOURS, high fashion and indie designer scenes, a surprisingly vibrant rockabilly scene, nightclubs, dive bars, amazing sushi (duh) and ramen, history on every block, I go to an MMA gym run by two of the biggest names in the sport, if you're into that sort of thing the nature and open spaces are a short train ride away (my girlfriend actually lives a couple of hours outside the city but commutes in to work every day). Today I went out and had Vietnamese food and made matcha milkshakes. Last week my girlfriend and I went to see the 20th anniversary tour of Rent.
If you've got the cash you could go to a different event every single weekend for like two years and you'd still miss stuff. I grew up in a small town you've never heard of in northern California, but I don't miss that life in the slightest.

I've always wanted to visit Japan. I've long had a fascination with the feudal era history and would relish the chance to study it first hand. Plus, you know, I'm a geek, and the chance to visit various anime and manga stores would be awesome.
Tarnagius Vashnarstill |
Yeah, I studied abroad here for my last year of college and decided I didn't want to go home just yet.
The old stuff is pretty cool. There was this display of old Heian Period kimono in a subway station near the theater we saw Rent in. So insanely beautiful and valuable for a subway station display.
DM Hell's Fox |
Jeez that's a lot of stuff. I'd want to check out those temples, gardens, and some of the restaurants.
Somewhere in Japan, there's a place known as the Fox Village. I would make an effort to visit such a place, and beg the keepers to let me live there.
I too really enjoy the feudal era history. Particularly the Sengoku period. I've wanted to write a campaign that features that time period, but I hesitate.
DM Hell's Fox |
I'd want to check out those temples, gardens, and some of the restaurants.
Can you tell that I like peace and quiet? Lol
DM Hell's Fox |
Unfortunately you may very well be right. I would hate to handwave it, but... ye.
Anyone else here have an opinion? If not, I'll handwave everything by the end of tomorrow.
DM Hell's Fox |
Except the door isn't open...
Do you still want to handwave, Phillip?
DM Hell's Fox |
I understand.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
I'm still here. However, I'm visiting my grandmother while I'm on vacation so I probably won't be able to post until tomorrow when I get back.
Pylos Thrune |
Sorry, posted before I read about the handwaving. Dice Bot-san does not like Pylos outside of social situations.
Also, why does the pseudo-Bat-Man archetype not have Stealth as a class skill?
SCKnightHero1 |
I'm still here y'all. Sorry for not posting. Been busy lately. Visiting my grandmother, trying to get back into writing, and playing a whole bunch of the Master of Orion remake and Stellaris while also trying to play catch up on all the campaigns I'm in that im behind due to the holidays.
So what did I missed?
Jules Corvid |
Hey Guys, Im going to be going dark this weekend due to a camping trip. see you late sunday.
DM Hell's Fox |
Have fun Jules.
It's as Phillip says
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Okay.
I do apologize again for being absent. Some...stuff has happened at work, so I'm a bit stressed out. One reason why I'm on vacation.
DM Hell's Fox |
Guys, I regret to inform you that Phillip has left the game.
Jules Corvid |
Hey everyone. I apologize but some events have come up in my life that require a bit more of my attention and will for awhile. I'm afraid i will have to cut some of my game load.
I enjoyed this game but I'm afraid I have to cut it to lighten my load. Please continue and have a great time!
DM Hell's Fox |
This change of events is weighing heavily on me, so I'm still considering what to do about it.
Do you want me to recruit some more peeps?
DM Hell's Fox |
I'll open up a recruitment thread tomorrow. I'm just not up to it today T-T
We can continue with the story if you'd like. I'll just keep the challenges low.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Well I do have a friend who played a HR campaign before it died. Now he played former hellknight and his character was a LN cavalier hunt master.
I could ask him if you like.
I could ask some others too if you like.
DM Hell's Fox |

If you could ask 1 or 2 people if they would like to join, I'd appreciate that. I'd also appreciate it if you let me know pretty quickly, but I understand if it takes awhile. It's just that I'm going to hold back the recruitment thread until I get word from you.
I'd be looking for players who would fit in with a party of NG-CG-TN characters. I don't mind what they play, so long as it is from Core, Base, or Hybrid rulebooks. No Path of War, Psionics, Occult, or 3pp. Unchained classes are allowed. Our group could really use a trap finder, or a healer, or a mage, though other things are fine.
They'll be 3rd level with max hp and unchained bonus skill ranks and 2,000gp to spend as they wish, so long as they spend half or less on any 1 item. They also get 2 traits, but no drawbacks or flaws. Races include core + tiefling + ratfolk (Skritt). No fiendish heritage trait.
They must be willing to help lead the resistance in Kintargo, and must have a solid reason for doing so. They should also be able to travel around Cheliax if needed.
Players must be civil with one another and should be willing to work together regardless of race, religion, politics, etc. They should also know that while we try to make a good pace with our posting rate, we tend to fall behind often.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Okay. And got it!
Alright, I just sent messages to two people. I'll let you know what they say.
I'll do what I can to help out GM.
Okay...
So one person is interested, but he's also in another recruitment drive for another Hell's Rebels game. He's still interested, but he's got to come up with something.
The other person has yet to respond.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
Alright, the one I was waiting to reply has.
He's interested, but he asked if there was a timetable but I told him that there wasn't really a timetable but that you would like to move quickly but were willing to be patient as you can't really rush these things.
DM Hell's Fox |
What does he mean by timetable? If he means post/day, I think it would be unfair to ask anything major from him. I've had times where I haven't posted in a full week, so it would be hypocritical of me.
Just let him know that 1/day is the ultimate goal, but in reality it's more like 1/two or three days.
Jesse Heinig |
Hello - I'm one of the potential players recruited by Kethaera.
Just thought I'd drop in and give my regards.
I am thinking about trapfinders or spellcasters who can work well with your team (looks like swashbuckler, bard, fighter?).
Do you have early firearms in your campaign?
Is anyone in the group looking for a pre-existing connection, like a brother/sister/former rival/romantic interest?
DM Hell's Fox |
Welcome Jesse, thanks for coming. Guns are in the emerging stage, so they're full price.
Kethaera Nightbreeze |
By timetable I think he was referring to when you wanted the character done.
DM Hell's Fox |
Ohhhhh well, within a week if possible. I'd want to introduce the new characters when you return to the Nest.
