knowledge nature: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (10) + 5 - 1 = 14
Oh.. It's a Corby.. Not a tengu. I think I know what to do...
Mordecai responds surprisingly quickly and also recognizes the creature in front of him. He walks into the room Acting like a bird. He walks up to the Corby to show he has no fear of it then toward some boxes to show his claim on the space.
Please end my movement at d2.
Hey you. This is my Rook now and if you want to stick around you listen to me now!
Intimidate or handle animal: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 5 - 1 = 6
Guys, I don't think it worked...
just saw the map so I edited accordingly
Bjorn Stonehand |
Init: 1d20 ⇒ 20
"You're doing it all wrong", Bjorn warns the armored Chelaxian.
The big northerner advances a step and pounds his chest, daring the bird-man to fight him.
Move action for intimidating prowess. Standard to intimidate.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 7 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 7 + 3 = 20
Zindra Malru |
Zindra stares at the Corby. She had never seen such a thing. With it's hostile attitude, Zindra keeps her scimitar at the ready.
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
DireMerc |
We will say Freya delays her action until after enemy.
tobias init: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
The corby is shacken for 1 round due to Bjorn's intimidate.
The corby hesitates for a moment and decides to ignore Mordecai and charge Bjorn who poses a greater challenge.
acrobatics: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (6) + 14 = 20
It jumps while it charges and attacks with it's talons(feet)
talon(pounce): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (10) + 6 = 161d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
talon(pounce): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 181d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
If both talons hit it grabs on and tears at the flesh before letting go.
Rend extra damage 1d4 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Bjorn and Mord acted now everyone else can go.
Bjorn Stonehand |
In that case Bjorn will use Quillbreaker Defense to negate the rend damage.
Twisting his muscular bulk at the last moment, Bjorn shifts his weight so the corby tears off a few of the spikes off his leather harness than bits of his flesh.
Free from the monster's claws, Bjorn fires back with a pair of crushing body shots.
Flurry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Flurry: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Confirming: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Extra Damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Zindra Malru |
Zindra hesitates a moment, seeing how close and cluttered this area is. If she can, she'll move up and attack with her scimitar.
Help us out, Sarenrae.
scimitar: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 7 + 2 = 29
damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
confirming: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 7 + 2 = 25
extra damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
If she cannot get within range to melee attack, she'll use Fire Bolt. Also, I added flank, but wasn't positive she'd have it. I really hope she can get within melee....
ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
fire dmg: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Tobias Flint |
Round 1
Acro: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 10 + 5 = 32
"Your both wrong," Tobias says more to himself than anyone else. He clicks his heels once to activate the effect of the boots and give them a test run. His whole body seems to instantly become lighter. He dashes forward, lightly leaping off of Bjorn's shoulder and over the combat to land on the corby's flank. Mid flight he draws steel and thrusts forward after landing.
Attack+Flank+Boots: 1d20 + 7 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 7 + 2 + 2 = 25
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
SA: 2d6 ⇒ (6, 3) = 9
Free action to activate boots. Move to acro through the Corby's square to get to flanking and draw weapon. If this works I get a +2 to attack, which I have added, and Sneak Attack.
Mordecai Goldman |
round 2
Mordecai will move and attack the Corby from atop the boxes once.
climb: 1d20 + 10 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 10 - 1 = 13
trying to get on top of the box at f5 so that Mordecai would be flanking with Zindra.
shield bash: 1d20 + 8 - 1 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 8 - 1 + 2 + 1 = 21
damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Correct me if I'm wrong...
Bjorn 5 foot stepped to h4
Corby charged to G4
Tobias acrobatics to f4
Zindra moved to h3
Freya didn't move k4
Mordecai climbed to f5 or e5 if climb failed
Mordecai Goldman |
Mordecai jumps off of his box and looks down at the fallen Dire Corby... He places his hand on its neck looking for a pulse...
heal: 1d20 + 5 - 1 ⇒ (4) + 5 - 1 = 8
Anyone know how to tell if one of these things is still alive?
Bjorn Stonehand |
"Come to think of it", Bjorn says as he looks over the slain corby. "I think I heard something about one of these things escaping from the fighting pits back when I was in Westcrown. I wonder how he ended up all the way down here?"
Tobias Flint |
"I know how to tell if its dead," Tobias says unhelpfully. He uses the Corby's tattered rags to clean his blade before re-sheathing it. While the others fawn over the dead bird-thing he takes a look around the storage room to make sure their aren't anymore.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Mordecai Goldman |
I wonder what's in all the boxes.
Mordecai starts opening random boxes.
the map cuts off at the edge for me. I assume the only exits to this room are the two holes in the wall heading to the room we came from
Tobias Flint |
*crack* *crack* Tobias knew the sound of breaking wood but was wondering why he was hearing it here. He was sure there were no more threats in the room. Tobias follows to the sound and rounds a corner to see Mordecai breaking open a crate. He pauses a moment, leaning against a stack nearby. "You just left jail and your right back at it?"
I assume the crates take some force to open?
Mordecai Goldman |
I didn't see you complaining when it was a giant crocodile I was opening up. Nice boots by the way. Or was it the noise you were concerned with. Some how I think being stealthy went out the window for us a long time ago.
Mordecai peers into the box that he has just pried open with his shorts word.
Bjorn Stonehand |
Bjorn stands guard while Mordecai searches some of the crates. His wounds hardly seem to phase the big man.
But they're still there!
Mordecai Goldman |
Mordecai give Tobias a hard look... It's going to take more than a pair of boots to make you look better than the dead guy. Mordecai chuckles...
Addressed to Freya:
I don't think there are any Tengu's, I could always be wrong of course... but I think that our benefactors upstairs mistook the Corby here as a Tengu.
Zindra Malru |
Zindra gets out her wand, touches Bjorn with her hand and channels the power of the wand through her hand. She starts murmuring Sarenrae, help me heal.
WoCLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Or ignore me...
WoCLW: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Mordecai Goldman |
Mordecai looks at Freya... Okay I was wrong... I feel like I have had to say that allot today. How do you guys want to play this. My judgement is clearly off today.
Mordecai draws shield and short sword and takes a position up closer to the door.
Bjorn Stonehand |
"Thanks sweetheart", Bjorn says when Zindra mends his wounds.
Seeing the tengu glee, the hairy northerner curses.
"Line up and be ready for a fight. We're not going to have a choice in the matter."
Zindra Malru |
Zindra holds her scimitar at the ready, No, it does not look like we'll have a choice. Want to try to not hurt them? You know, only knock them out?
Tobias Flint |
Following a fleeing target was always a gamble. They could be fleeing or just drawing you into a trap. Tobias Flint wasn't in the business of gambling so he moves to the other hole into this room and keeps watch out of sight for whatever that tengu might bring their way.
Stealth: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (3) + 11 = 14
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Zindra Malru |
I am not sure. I know that I am ready to go forward, though. Of course, they may be lying in wait to ambush us.
Bjorn Stonehand |
"Well let's get on with it then", Bjorn says as moves to the front of the formation. "Be on the lookout for traps."
Using martial flexibility to get deflect arrows.
Tobias Flint |
Don't tell us that. Now I want to stealth up and interrupt them then run back. I imagine we'd stand there like statues expecting something for about half a minute before Bjorn makes the comment to move on. That's probably enough time for them to buff and come back. Fair enough?
Tobias Flint |
Tobias unconsciously begins to make some very complex signs with his hands, obviously trying to get across some kind of info. But at the curious look the others were giving him, he growls in annoyance. He forgot he wasn't working with assassin's from the guild for a moment. They didn't know the sign language. One taught to them by a drow for silent communication. Failing this, he stays hidden and just waves form them to get ready and holds up three fingers, indicating three enemies.
Mordecai Goldman |
With Tobias indicating the presence of their enemies Mordecai decided to make a last ditch effort to avoid unneeded blood shed.
We're sorry about killing your Corby friend...I think you said his name was Ruck. but he didn't really give us much of a choice. I'm sure you're well aware of his temperament. Please, Don't force us to kill you as well.
diplomacy: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 = 26 ... WOW!... that has a chance of actually working...
