Becton; Elgan;
then they attack/move and Riese gets his held action.
Riese(Male Human Paragon 3 /Evoker 6 (abjuration&enchantment barred) ---37,300XP)
Riese eyes up the giant....Imbelia furtion de'flar! A wad of flaming pitch forms in Riese's hand just before he flings his hand forward launching the ball which moves to hit the giant. DC16 reflex for half.4d6=11 damage from the firebolt.
Becton glances over at the parley-man, saying: "Be at ease, friend; Pelor guides our hand."
He raises his shield and utters a benediction to aid his comrades. Casting Bless - figure I should be able to cover everyone except Beldan, maybe (50ft burst). So +1 to everyone.
As soon as he finishes, Becton will pull his crossbow first - targeting the Ogre probably.
Seeing the giant man-beast brings back memories of his days in Geoff; an intensity comes in his eye to want this offensive lot to pay for the brutality.

I was just responding to this. I had posted that I when they get within 130' I would hit 'em with a Firebolt. If they aren't within range then I keep holding that action.
The wood elf watches Gittik and Stiggy charge toward the Ogre with a bemused look on his face.
"Fools charg' in wheah de' ang'ls feah ta tread." He says sagely as he draws his bow and sights carefully.
The gnome nimbly steps out of the way of the incoming arrow.
The halforcs run up; to f15 and g15 to face Gittik and Harvak; 2 run around them giving a wide berth (i.e. no aoo) to close with Stiggy at f27 and g27.
(Riese at will can fire up any of these four; they're in range)
The gnome moves to g6; his hands burst into flame. He scours Harvak with a fire not unlike that which Elgan produces. (Harvak down 10 h.p.)
The very big man hurls something. A big metal shotput crashes into Altai; 5 pounds of lead. Altai takes 11 h.p. damage.
(The giant and the gnome are, as of yet, out of range of spells for Riese.)
Riese's held action, then ROUND 2!!!!!
Oh, and you can keep your roll; just pick a target.
Since they are that far away, is it OK if I also moved 30' closer as I cast the spell?
Yeah that's cool. Pick a square, hoss. (edit) don't know if you want to or get healed, though...
Altai Iscarni(Male Human Wizard 14 (Conjuration school))
Ouch! That's OK - I moved first. The move puts me in F33.
Edit: I just drew up the full map. How the hell did I think I could cast Scorching ray on the big guy??? BTW, does he occupy a 10' square, or is he just a really big Medium creature?

Yeah; you hit and they didn't save; just again need to pick a target.
They're not dead or nothing, but they're bellowing from the horrible pain.
Harvak hits that one as well(f15) with his greatsword trying to drop an enemy; the halforc is sorely wounded but still standing. (Harvak did 10 damage).
"Why you no kill him, Tiny Nasty?!?" asks Harvak sarcastically.
"UH! Orcblood! Why you fight for these pinkskin meatbags?" one of the enemy halforcs inquires of Harvak while leveling his greataxe for a mighty blow. "They weak, and full of stupid ideas."
Riese can pick his target for Riese's Firebolt from amongst the four half orcs for his first round action;
Becton and Elgan, and Riese get their second round action,
then the hostiles get their round 2 turn.
To Stig:
"Kurg say you brave, dwarf! Kurg not sell you. Kurg eat your heart when this all done!"

Pick the worst looking of the Orcs for the target....
For round 2- If any of the orcs are within 40' I will wand them and miss...
Otherwise trying to hit the giant with a Firebolt- 4d6=13damage, DC16 reflex for half.
The giant's still out of range; the orc that Altai fired up at g27 falls to the Riese's firebolt. The icewand just added irony to the pyrotechnics of the scene.
note: I edited "g15" to "g27." I made a posting error...
Elgan draws another arrow as his keen eyes pick out the details of the battle. He casually draws and sights along the thin shaft as the melee combatants shuffle, strike and taunt each other, looking for an opening.
'Ah. dere' ya are!" He says to no one in particular as he smiles and releases the string with a 'TWANG!'
I confess to being lost map-wise. I'm aiming for whichever enemy I can hit without risking hitting one of the party. Or at least the one with the least cover from a party member!
right on.
The arrow flies over the head of Stiggy, who is 4'6", and slams into the chest of the half orc at f27, who is 6'6". It's almost dead; Stigwold Maechaemmar now faces one barely viable half orc.
Sorry folks been out of it - bit of a family emergency the last couple of days.
Seeing that Harvak is occupied with the "big un's," he focuses his crossbow shot on the gnome with the flaming hand if possible. Moving to be in range (80'), so let me know if I can fire this round. If the gnome is too far away, he'll target the ogre instead.
The big man throws another shotput at Altai; it thumps in the turf, skips a few times, totally misses the caster.
The halforcs swing at Gittik; Harvak; and Stiggy. None of their greataxes find purchase in their armor, or can line up with the artfully dodging halfling tempest of steel.
The gnome goes through changes, contorting, growing. In a matter of seconds, he warpspasms into the ugliest gnome you've ever seen, who is now 9 feet tall. Brandishing a shortsword, he walks up to occupy space f-g13-14, frothing at the mouth and menacing the half orc and halfling stalwarts.
Roll to hit the guy in F15 with scimitar = 13 + 7 + 1 = 21, damage = 2 + 5 = 7. If that succeeds in taking him down, Gittik moves 5' to F15 and attacks the big ugly gnome, otherwise he attacks the half-orc again. Either way - roll to hit with kukri = 3 + 7 + 1 = 11, damage (unlikely) = 1 + 2 = 3.
Becton reloads again, and gets a little closer for a shot at the giant gnome. However, he loses his footing and the bolt misses his target dreadfully. Crossbow (1d20+4=5)Gah! Nat one - let me know if there's some backlash, eh?
backlash...you twang the bowstring real hard against your arm as it fires; if you didn't have armor on it would hurt like hell...;) sometimes you do that with a bow, I reckon with a crossbow too.
So Riese; Elgan; Stiggy; and Beldan left this round!
“Crap…” says Beldan as the gnome becomes giant size. He brings up his crossbow to fire, but his hand is shaking, and the bolt hits the dirt. Nat 1 here as well.
"Holee Muthah,..." Elgan says as he watches the gnome begin to grow.
With a frown creasing his usually unwrinkled brow, Elgan casually draws another arrow and fits it to his string.
"Dat ain't rite. Sum magikers jes' don' know when ta quit messin' wit' stuff while dere ahead." He says as draws back the string. "Dat's when ah steps in an',... explains t'ings to em."
