Oso Legumbe wrote:"So, you want me stake this guy, or save him?"Oso nods back, "After Baal we gonna get you fixed up an home again. Sir."
He pats him lightly on the cheek and turns back to the others. "Dis is gettin' personal now. Gittik stake him good and proper. I gonna spell you up with Kelanen's strength and protections just so he'll be easy."
The black priest smiles at Pip. "Let's do some good."
...cold....hearted...(lol)
I'm telling Larken.home...errands...drive...time...away for a few hours.
Beldan Vale |
Beldan stares in horror at the stumps where the guy’s feet used to be. “Oh sweet Pelor,” he whispers to Altai and Oso. “That’s horrible. Is there anything we can do for him? I couldn’t live a cripple…”
He turns to the prisoner, a weak grin plastered over his face. “Istivin?” he says, “That sounds like a nice place.” (Beldan never traveled much). “We’ll see that you get back there after this is all done … maybe we can hire a cart or something … Um, do you want me to try to get you out of those shackles?” He approaches nervously, as if having no feet and oft-broken bones might be contagious. Open Locks: 8+18 = 26.
Elgan Dreadwood |
Elgan is struck speechless at the sight of what has been done to the prisoner. (Never thought THAT would happen, didja?)
When he finally speaks, his voice is as cold as a breeze from a glacier, and his eyes have turned the color of steel.
"An heah ah t'ought dat only humans hunted fer sport. Dis is,... Le's fin' him. Ah gots a few wurds fer im."

"The stairs...spiral down to a vast chamber; high-ceilinged, and circular,.....100 feet by 100 feet.
He does not sleep in a coffin like a human vampire would; he has a hide and wickerwork sort of platform, staked high up, ten feet up, by four posts, after the manner of the lizardfolk's burial, near the north of the room...the floor is wet, muddy; though not too too deep. Though it is knotted with roots throughout. It is not good footing there."
Altai Iscarni |
"Excellent. Thank you very much - you've been of great help. We'll take care of you once we've finished up the vampire."
This is when I cast Protection from evil on Stig and Gittik. It lasts for 7 minutes. Before we descend, I'll cast Fly and See invisible on myself. Then I'll cast Enlarge person on Stig once we reach the bottom. After that, who knows...
BTW, Heathy - did you use my Fireball in the hag fight?

aaah, crappers...we're about to go out to eat, but I should be back in 2-3 hours; I can put up a map coordinate dealy in a few.
I just got Pagan Publishing's new Mesoamerica book for Call of C'thulhu, so my mind's been elsewhen for the afternoon...
I figured it would have some useful tidbits for the Isle of Dread.
Oso Legumbe |
Oso calls on Kelanen from the top of the stairs to give his strength and power to the kukri-wielding halfling.
Casts Bulls Strength and just for fun, fly on Gittik. Casts magic weapon on the silver stake. Casts magic circle vs evil on himself.
"Gittik, you got the juice, now take that torturing newtlicker down!"
And everyone can have divine protection, +1 morale bonus to AC and saves
Altai Iscarni |
So... Here's our spell suite as we descend the stairs:
Gittik: Bull's strength, Fly, Protection from evil, carries the vampire-killing stick (a Silver shortspear +1)
Stig: Protection from evil
Oso: Magic circle against evil
Altai: Fly, See invisible
Elgan: Barkskin, Call lightning
Riese: Mage armour
Pip, Beldan: nothin'
More spells once we reach the floor!

The stairway winds down...down...again,
and enters a great room like the maimed paladin said.
dimensions....a-t top, 1-19 bottom;
usable spaces...
g-n 1,
e-p 2,
c-r 3,
a-t 4-16,
c-r 17,
e-p 18,
g-n 19,
the hallway opens into the room at m19 south wall.
there is a trellis at i-k 2-3, stretched skins and wickerwork on four posts, 10 feet in the air, and a lizardman vampire lies as if in repose thereupon. It is lit by two bull skulls at the foot and the head of it; lit by an eerie red light. Much of the room is dark.
At j6 stands a lone succubus, holding two leashes to two canoloth daemons at i and k 7.

Group Initiative roll: 18“Gargoyles!” blurts out Beldan, pointing up the walls.
"HUH?"
Pip will stick by his magical buddy Oso and begin strumming Inspire Courage. Everyone gets a +1 to all ATK&DAM rolls for 5 rounds.
Strums Lucille
Don't know what we're fighting,
But I know one thing for sure!
Evil is a bad disease,
And the Regulators are the cure!
Altai Iscarni |
New and improved list of ongoing effects:
Gittik: Bull's strength, Fly, Protection from evil, carries the vampire-killing stick (a Silver shortspear +1)
Stig: Enlarge person, Protection from evil
Oso: Enlarge person, Magic circle against evil
Altai: Fly, See invisible
Elgan: Barkskin, Call lightning
Riese: Mage armour
Pip, Beldan: nothin'
Also, we have bardic music and divine protection, giving everybody +1 morale bonus to AC, saves, attack rolls and damage.
REcapping the effects of Enlarge person: +2 STR, -2 DEX and the target becomes Large, taking up a 10' square. The STR bonus offsets the size modifier on the attack rolls, so the net effect is +1 damage, 10' reach and -2 AC. New weapon damage is 2d8. Splat!

I'll start at M17, 15' into the air.
Hovering well above the soggy floor, Altai's casting a spell as Beldan catches his attention. "Gargoyles? Where?"
I'm burning my Charm monster spell to cast Summon monster IV. Amazingly, I missed every spot roll, even the DC 5 one...

< Cue Holst's Planets.>
Mars, bringer of war! For an even more intense version, check out the Nile version - Ramses, bringer of war. It makes for an awesome intro, though you might want to tune out once Karl Sanders starts howling at 1:30 or so...

“There, and there,” Beldan points up at the walls at C3 and R3. “And did you notice that pile of corpses under the platform in the middle there?”
How Beldan noticed all this when he’s got a succubus’ boobies to look at is anyone’s guess.
