For the druid's shopping, first thought is to take the lovely enchantment on Elgan's Beasthide armor and move it over to the Dragonskin armor he owns, (it's got a better base AC) and then mebbe step it up a notch? (Can you take the 'Beasthide' enchantment AND the '+1' enchantment and move them BOTH over to the Dragonskin? MAking it a +2 beasthide Dragonskin?) As for the rest, I hesitate to spend much on weapons upgrades (flaming swords and all) as he rarely uses weapons. Maybe a str item to boost his damage output? definitely looking at upping the Natural ac as well. OOH! Maybe a Druidic version of a Ring of wizardry? We don't NEED the extra firepower, but it couldn't hurt. And all those extra slots could be used for summoning or healing as well! Any thoughts?

Yeah, sure; go ahead...

Beefed up my Amulet of intellect to +4, beefed up my Bracers of armor +1 to give me +2 armour and +2 CON, bought a Pearl of power II and finally learned Water breathing - and scribed six scrolls of that spell. I'm down 800 xp and need 20 days of work. Aso, I only have 2300 gp left, from which I'll pay for my share of lizardman kit.

SHE gives HIM 2,000 g.p.
"While you lot have been gallivanting around the swamps," she explains, "I've used the money you've given me....opened up the manor as a carriage house and inn,....I've quite a few regulars.
I hope that that's allright with you all....oh, and I've been running day charters with the Sea Ghost....fishing excursions and the like. Rusty can spin her right round the bay, he can. He's becoming quite the young pilot."

"Is there any rum left?"
<Stig breaks out in a sweat.>
Altai Iscarni |
BTW, Altai installs the hags' alchemy equipment along with the mad alchemist's gear in his basement workshop.
"If Pharsia keeps this up, I'll have to move all this junk somewhere else soonish", he grumbles dejectedly to Stig. "Where the hell am I going to put it? Can't bring along all this glass piping on an anti-sahuagin strike. Still, the place is turning out really nice."
Altai Iscarni |
s##& I don't even have enough for a ring of water walking.
How much dough do you have? You should have about 11000 from our recent adventures, 2500 from the Fort Bale guys - plus whatever you had from before. I ended up with about 17000.
dungeonmaster heathy |
Weapons I don't use: +1 Waraxe, dwarven (not carried), +1 Keen Bastard Sword (not carried), +1 Warhammer
Can Stig get a trade these three in on these for a +1 cold iron warhammer and a +1 silver waraxe at the friendly neighborhood weapons dealer?
doin' th' math, you're 2,500 shy; they'll hook you up for 1,500 g.p. though.
dungeonmaster heathy |
Can you front me?
Yeah; they'll front you. They want to print up some handbills, though, with your image saying their wares are Good as Dwarfbilt. They'll settle for "Only a Dwarf can tell it ain't Dwarfbilt" though.
I reckon you guys are like Tiger Woods around these parts.Stigwold Mæch'Hæmmær |
<Stig gives it the Mach'Hammar seal of approval. He figures if his own parents kicked him out he doesn't owe them much. Then he heads out to mooch some drinks at the Lizard before heading back to the mansion and hitting the rum.>
I beefed up my Initiative and AC by getting some gloves of dexterity. Bring it on.

OK, I'm sorry, I haven't followed the last bit very well. Do we have some money for gear?
Previous page, Vat posted it in a spoiler
Altai's spoiler again:
+8000 gp in stuff
=23267 gp and 5 silver/6
=3877 gp and 9 silver each
In addition, we have 5 unworked diamonds worth 500 gp each and the spellbook worth 3000 gp - they are not counted into the numbers above.
This is 5500/6=916.6 extra gold, so the initial six party members get a total of 4794 gp and 6 silver. Of that, Stig owes Altai 500 gp.
Riverboat fight:
+1 greatclub – sell for 2305 gold
+1 hide armour – sell for 1165 gold
3200 gp of giant cabbage-based food
3470 gp/2= 1735 gp/8= 216 gp and 9 silver each
3200 gp/8= 400 gp each
Thus, everyone, now including Oso and Pip, get 416 gp and 9 silver. In addition, captain Quorkus gave us 800 gp each.
Vampire fights:
Bastard sword +2 - to Oso. He then sells his bastard sword +1, putting 1185 gp into the party coffers.
40 bricks of gold, each worth 1000 gp=40000 gp.
41850/8=5231.25
So, the final balance:
6 original party members get 11242 gold, 7 siver and 5 coppers each. Of this, Stig owes Altai 500 gp.
Oso and Pip get 6493 gold and 2 silver each. Also, Oso now has a bastard sword +2.
"Arooooooo!"
Gittik |
"Good doggy."
<pats Tenser on head>
OK, here is the expenditure:
Selling:
Shocking kukri +1 - 4,150gp
3 potions of Cure Moderate Wounds - 450gp
New total: 15,842gp
Buying:
Extra +1 to Mithril Shirt (total +2) - 3,000gp
Enchant Adamantine Kukri +1 with Shocking power - 6,000gp
Enchant Scimitar +1 with Frost power - 6,000gp
Buy Potion of Cure Serious Wounds - 750gp
Total expense: 15,750gp
Change: 92 gp
With the 1,000gp or so he has lying about, he will buy another potion of Cure Serious Wounds. Bring on the Isle of Dread!
Gittik |
Just checked the thread - I've got another 2,500gp I didn't take account of from Fort Bale. I'll magic up the silver dagger - silver and magic might be more useful - and another potion of Cure Serious.
Gittik spends the next few weeks hanging out with Jane, learning to read a bit better during the day and rutting like a wild thing at night.
Oso Legumbe |
Right Oso has 6493 plus 2500gp to burn. He is looking to buy this stuff;
1) Amulet of Natural Armor +1 (2,000gp)
2) Upgrade chain shirt from +1 to +2 (3,000gp)
3) Pearl of Power (1st) (1,000gp)
4) Wand of Cure Moderate Wounds (2,250gp)
5) Scroll of Lesser Restoration and Consecrate (350gp)
Give 300 gold to the local church of goodness and niceness before going to the Isle of Suckiness.
Keep 93 gold for eating, drinking and making merry over the next two weeks.

"Gee Tom, those studs and spikes and straps sure do make you look tough. I would hate to see anything happen to you because I dragged you into a dangerous area in my travels. I don't know that I would be able to deal with you.....getting hurt on my account. I hope the armor protects you. I know it make you look quite yummy though! Perhaps a bit of wine and company for the night? You could stay in my room to talk and....maybe more?
Hardest RPing ever!

The gloves are a good idea - but full plate has a max DEX bonus of +1. :(

Priceless. I played a gay sniper in a RL Cthulu/Spec Ops GURPS game eons ago - to the sheer horror of the other players. Had a lot of fun with radio chatter during combat. It freaked them out more than the nameless horrors that plagued us.
This is a great game.

“Pharsia … this place is amazing. This is great. Wow … I’ve missed you baby …”
Beldan hangs out with Pharsia for a few days before heading out to Seaton with some of the others to buy stuff. Sorry guys, still haven’t had a chance to look into equipment.

Got it:
I googled
"fake healer" "combat wand"
and it came up in the discussion thread.
from the fakey:
Combat Wands
I think this concept works better for a spellcaster than having a wizard using a crossbow. It fits them more, flavor-wise, in my opinion. Attacks with Combat wands are ranged touch attacks.
These wands are made by saturating the wand in rare resins and alchemical substances that are infused with the energy type of the wand to be made.
Although they channel arcane energy, most wands are not magical themselves. For purposes of further enchanting them, they are considered masterwork weapons which are limited to only being able to receive enhancement bonuses (+1 through +5) and not the special abilities of weapons.
Special- For every 3 points the wielder’s concentration check exceeds the wand’s DC, the wielder may add 1 point of their ability bonus (of their primary casting ability, determined by highest caster level) to damage. So a wizard who exceeds the DC by 9 may add up to +3 points of his/her intelligence modifier to damage.
Special- Combat wands are considered one handed weapons for the purposes of two weapon fighting. They require great mental training and focus to use.
Special- Any effect that applies a penalty of bonus to the wielder’s attack, is also applied to the concentration check. Examples: Two weapon fighting penalties, being prone, recipient of a Bless spell.
Special- An attack with a Combat wand is treated as a ranged attack for determining things like attacks of opportunity.
Combat Wands:
Wand Type/Base Cost/Base Damage/Concentration DC/Range
1/ 750gp/ 1d4 / 10 / 40ft
2/ 1000gp/1d6/ 15/ 40ft
3 /1500gp/1d8/ 20/ 60ft
4/ 3000gp/1d10/ 25/ 60ft
5/ 5000gp/ 1d12/ 30/80ft
Energy Type/MultiplierCost*
Fire/ 0gp
Cold/ 50gp
Electricity/ 50gp
Acid/ 75gp
Sonic/100gp
Force/ 500gp
(* multiply the energy cost by the wand’s type, and add this cost to the wand’s base
cost to determine the overall price. So a Type 5 Combat wand of Force will cost 7500gp.
5000gp (Wand type 5) + 2500 (Price of the Force energy type times the Wand type: 500X5)
Obviously I couldn't even touch one for a couple levels but I would like to get rid of the crossbow eventually and just use this wand (most likely fire since I plan on being a firey evoker mage). Even the highest priced one (7500gp) only does 1d12+up to intel bonus if the concentration DC of 30 is passed.
