All right everyone post here to check in and then we'll get started. Any questions?
I believe in lots of feedback so expect me to ask "Did that plot line work", "Did you like that NPC?", "Are you having fun?" at regular intervals. The more feedback the more awesome this game will be!
Ask questions, please, if I do something confusing, incorrect or just plain dumb. Only way to improve. Also, requests for game elements are always wanted, so feel free to suggest.
For full disclosure, Adelaide is a player in one of my solo games. So if I seem a bit more casual with her, that is why.
Any questions?

Thanks for picking me. I don't have any questions, yet. I am curious about Bandrift, but we'll get to him soon enough, I'm sure.
Looks like a good party. Congrats to all the players who were selected!
I don't get into every PbP game, either. The GM has to choose what he thinks is best for the sort of game he wants, and no 2 want the same thing.
My situation finds me at home a lot, so I'll have time to post every day, no problem. Looking forward to some fun in the jungle! :)

Olaff here to lift his damn curse!
Thanks for selecting me, it will be na amazing game!
I have left a lot of gold unspent, assuming that Olaff would be able to purchase it in bloodcove. It that is alright, I will make a list of what Olaff will buy.
Thanks again! (so f***ing happy man!)
Also I intend to roleplay him with a kind of a nordic accent, like this:
"Vell mates, everyone rready for some jungle exploration, rright? From dis day, I vill prrotect yah! My sword vill cut ourr enemies and my shield will prrotect against dose veak blows."
Let me know if it is difficult to understand or somehow inappropriate!

Hello! Glad to be here. I have no doubt that this will be a ton of fun, as I've heard great things about Mowque already.
I, too, believe that good and constructive feedback is one of the best ways to grow, so I'm in. Should we start poking around one another's sheets and check that we're all set on skills and whatnot? Or would you all rather just stick to what we've got already and hope for the best?
Olaff, that accent seems fine to me. Not hard to read at all. But then, I'm also a huge fan of off-the-wall or slightly different accents in characters. So take what I say with a grain of salt.

You guys can tune up the sheets a little, if you'd like, skill points and such. You can do as much team planning as you'd like.
Some groups (my live group) adore planning and get very into it.
Other groups (my PBP Society game) don't like to plan at all and everyone just does what they do best.
Both are great fun, if done right!
P.S. Accent is fine, Olaff, just don't go too crazy with it.
P.P.S. First Gameplay post is up. Feel free to make a post or two. Rock and roll!
P.P.P.S Sorry for the clunky OP. It takes awhile before I find the right flow for each game!
Enjoy.
Olaff Olaffson |
About the accent is just what I already posted:
V instead of W, a couple of double 'r' and D instead of TH.
In another game, there is a dwarf that I do not understant a single word she says! (English not first language... so imagine that!)

Hola mi amigas.
I live in a house of girls and don't know the masculine versions of anything.
Anyways...
Hi. I've got a few tweaks to make on my sheet (some things missed when I did my build edit before submission) but I'm more than happy to do some planning with you guys to make sure we have a rounded out party. I'm an Int class, and have 3 of the four big Knowledge skills as class skills (arcana, nature, and planes) as well as Spellcraft.
I picked up Heal, Linguistics, Knowledge(geography), UMD, Acrobatics, and Craft(cartography) to round things out both mechanically and for flavor. I'll get my crunch and background in my alias a little later today when I'm not on mobile :)

Good idea.
Sborki's skills are thus:
Points/Ranks
Climb +13/3
Heal +8/1
Knowledge (geography) +2/1
Knowledge (nature) +5/2
Perception +10/3
Profession (trees) +10/3
Profession (water creatures) +10/3
Ride +3/0
Spellcraft +5/1
Stealth +13 (+17 in marshes and forested areas, +19 in swampy terrain)/3
Survival +10/1
Swim +5/3
He's a great scout in the jungle. That's how he's gotten to 3rd without being eaten by a snake or something. He uses his tongue or his icicle ability to reach fruit and bugs, and to defend himself. He's got great survival skills and can find food more suited to the rest of the party, and can create water for our water needs.
I made him a caster druid, rather than a shapechanger melee druid. He's small and weak. Druids have some cool spells, but they're not good party buffers. They make decent debuffers, and have a few decent blasts. And, of course, they can summon allies spontaneously.
I plan to do that quite a bit, seeing that we have a rogue who likes to flank. ;)
I didn't prep detect magic. I figured someone else would.
Adelaide Brightsong |
Unlike most witches, I'm actually a spontaneous caster (new Occult Adventures archetype) so I have detect magic all day er'ry day.
I love caster druids, personally, so good choice. Lots of versatility and tons of fun spells.
Like you, my spell list is all about debuffing, but I do get some support options. With my chosen patron I even get some blasties! Shocking grasp with the Reach Spell metamagic feat is my current pewpew trick. We can probably get some very complimentary magic going on that plays off of each other well.
So it sounds like driving boats might be important! Does anyone have any desire to be the get away driver? :P
My crunch and fluff are now all in my alias for easy browsing!
Sborki |
I can't reach the wheel!
I can do touch attacks with a 10' reach. I doubt I'll do that very much, but it's a fun idea.
You should get a longsword if you haven't traded that ability for something else. I know how witches feel about melee, but my elf wizard had to use his at 3rd level one time. He got lucky and killed the summoned boar that had tripped him (it was already hurt). He managed a few AoOs with it, too, just because he had it in hand.
It becomes a +1 weapon at 4th.
Olaff Olaffson |
"Herre is de captain mates! I am no good with dose fancy spells, but give me a boat and I vill take yah acrross de hole sea, rright?"
Cimb +9/3
Intimidate +6/3
Perception +8/3
Profession (herbalist) +7/3
Profession (sailor) +7/3
Survival +7/3
Swim +9/3
Olaff is kind of a classic sword and board! Since he is a viking, in the next levels he will be able to get a little more angry.
Olaff Olaffson |
"Hay, de jungle is not for de prretty faces, rright?"
I can Intimidate at least! lol
Read to go!
Updated sheet here!
Olaff Olaffson |
Oh, just saying that, for the sake of the mystery of the game I will not read the background of you folks! This way, I will be completely impartial in my decisions (since we all have secret and personal missions here)!
What do you think about it?
GM Mowque |
No worries! I think we all got an imagination to fill in the blanks.
Thanks, Excel is just easier.
1. I know it better
2. No long in required
3. rarely blocked by workplaces (although some do block Google Drive stuff)
4. Easier to show effects and stuff (colored areas).
Downside is, the icons aren't the exact right size (fitted to grid). Drives me batty.
Olaff Olaffson |
Don't know how you are used to readied actions, but in another game I am playing, we do like this:
Shield Bash (attack): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Shield Bash (damage): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
This way the DM only needs to know about it when the action occurs and if you put all the dice rolls and spells and stuff, like a normal action, he does not need to stop the combat and wait for the player to post his action.
Just a tip to make things run smoothly!

Also GM, if you put the link to the map in a tagline under your name, it is easier for us to open it (instead of looking for the original post with the link).
Landon Ninefingers |
Hey GM, do you mind tossing the map up on the Campaign Info tab for this group? Might make it easier to find if we're in a hurry.
EDIT: Ninja post sniped by the viking. *shakes fist*
GM Goblin King |
I do it that way, as you see here. We're just restarting the goblin adventure. I'm Sborki.
Sborki |
The fog cloud is big. It'll cover the whole left side of the room. Sborki's good where he is. He'll just run out of there as fast as he can. We all should.
I had to leave for a bit. It was time to take the dog to the vet and put her down. Not a great day for me.:(
The good news is that she lived a long and happy life.
Olaff Olaffson |
No, lethal damage... thought that since he is a skald, and is used to his laws, anyone that attacks knows the consequences and the attacker is allowed to be lethal...
Would not be appropriate...

Roll 20 is a free site that allows tabletop game hosting. Olaff, it is real easy to use. Go to roll20.net and make a free account.
Once you have an account go to this link (it is for the game)= Heart of the Jungle Roll 20 Link and check it out. Any questions, just ask me!
I think we'll finish THIS combat in Excel though.
Landon Ninefingers |
Roll20 is great and I fully support the use of it. The excel sheet works for me, too, though! Whichever's easier.
