Bartan Harrowborn |
"Now now, ladies. There's no need to liken our friend with such a despicable creature. Hajar may be somber at times, but he's saved both your skins countless others." Bartan smiles at Hajar warmly.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar pretends he doesn't hear Paige and Yazi...he knows better than to fall prey for their womanly wordtricks.
Also, he is deadly focused on whatever is behind that door. Open it. he says, holding a lit Tempest aloft
GM_Pace |
Pale blue ceramic censers dangle from copper chains mounted into the ceiling along the edges of this room, filling the chamber with a faint, flickering light. To the west, a mound of rocks has been stacked to form a crude throne. A collection of mismatched boxes and clay urns lines the northern wall, while to the south, numerous rocks have been stacked in front of a pair of doors.
Four male humans are moving rocks, crates, and other things around the room, while a massive misshapen human sits on his stone throne. All four look up when Yazi opens the door. The large human on the white throne pulls a lizard carcass from where he was chewing it, and grunts "Trap not go off. Not slaves. Not gnolls. Kill them anyway - or I kill you."
The humans grimly raise up clubs.

Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar shouts Spare the slaves if you can!
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves forward to near the doorway, knowing he is not the one to go charging in. While moving, he again pulls out his wand of divine favor and tries to activate it.
UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Unforunately the wand does not go off. POO!
Yazi |
Yazi shouts to the slaves as she moves into the room. "We freed the slaves in the other room and killed the bigass Gnoll guarding them, go past us and you can make a break for freedom!"
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal Double moves into the room ready for a fight.
Flee to your safety and freedom, or stand here and die.
intimidate: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (2) - 1 = 1
Khayal is not a man of words and it seems they were of little persuasion.
Paige Nightsong |
Paige casts ENTANGLE in the center of the room. Those slaves arn't going anywhere! she shouts as the moss between the stones grows and gropes for the ankles of the men. Focus on the big guy!
GM_Pace |
Bartan's wand fizzles, while Khayal and Yazi shout.
The slaves pull out slings and spin them above their heads, aiming at the only person they can see - Yazi.
Sling atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Sling atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Sling atk: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
Which all go wildly astray, hitting the walls on either side of the door.
The giant human grunts at the lack of precision.
(Paige, Hajar)
(Edit.)
Paige's spell goes off successfully.
(Hajar)
Bartan Harrowborn |
I'm assuming there is no area we can move through that is not within Paige's entangle spell? That'll make things... interesting. LOL
EDIT: Moved Khayal for him, right up to the edge of the entangle spell
Hajar nar Jundi |
10' squares right?
Hajar double moves behind his brother. He sighs at Paige's well meaning obstacle.
Paige, do we not want the slaves to run away?
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan moves forward into the room and attempts to activate his wand again.
UMD: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12
And fails again.
Paige Nightsong |
Paige stamps her foot, miffed at the obvious strategic blunder Hajar just pointed out. Well, I'm running out of useful spells today! I can dispel it if you want. I Just got a few shocks left she holds up her fingers and they crackle with lightening. Watch I'll drop that spell and then meat-head across the room will turn out to be like a level 6 berserker with bonuses to charge, haha!
Hajar nar Jundi |
Melee combat is our strength so if he wants to charge and close with us quickly...that works to our benefit. We are gonna have a helluva time when we face primarily ranged foes or spellcasters...
GM_Pace |
(Spellcasters, if you could post the DC of the save along with a link to the spell in the text, that'd help me lot.)
The slaves try to move out of Paige's entangle, shouting in alarm at the moss gripping their feet and legs.
Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (6) + 0 = 6
Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (8) + 0 = 8
Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (14) + 0 = 14
None of them are able to break free as they struggle to the edges of the moss-covered area. "Help us, Lazrul!" one of the slaves cries out, looking back at the deformed man. The tall man on the throne gives no reaction.
(Khayal, Yazi, Hajar)
(Encounter Map updated)
Khayal Bin Haleen |
Khayal drops his Kukris and draws his new masterwork composite bow. He takes aim and lets an arrow loose on the man. bow: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 221d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12 accidental poisoning percentage: 1d100 ⇒ 38 Safe
Yazi |
I think since the poison is already applied you're good, since it doesn't mention if there's a chance of accidental poisoning for loading or drawing a weapon/ammo. Not for sure though, never used poison before...
Paige Nightsong |
Grumbling, Paige dispels the Entangle spell. Don't worry my plantish pets, you shall have your chance. Then to the slaves Consider this a mercy! I will allow you to pass by unharmed and leave this place. Our quarrel is only with that! She points at the largish man-monster agross the room with her bone-tooth-spiked club.
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar charges the big man Dawnflower!!!! At least I think I can charge...but I probably provoke an AoO
Tempest Charge: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26 Damage: 2d4 + 11 + 1d6 ⇒ (2, 3) + 11 + (5) = 21
Yazi |
Lol, got caught up talking about the poison and I forgot to post my action :3
Yazi moves along behind Hajar now that Paige had dismissed her spell.
Double Move.
EDIT: Dang, forgot to post how much she moved in the previous round, probably could have attack him this round if I had...
GM_Pace |
(Paige can't drop the entangle until her next turn. Dismissing a spell is a standard action. Which means Hajar can't charge, neither can Yazi. Rolling for their Reflex saves...)
Khayal shoots and hits the misshapen human on his white stone throne.
Fort save vs. poison DC 18: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
Poison dmg: 1d6 ⇒ 4 CON damage
The larger-than-normal man roars in pain. "Burns!" he cried out.
Yazi Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 (Entangled (cannot run or charge) Yazi's speed is 30 ft, half in the moss)
Hajar Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12 (Entangled (cannot run or charge), Hajar's speed is 20 ft, half in the moss)
Both warriors are stopped by the moss grabbing at their feet.
ROUND THREE
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18
Paige: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Monsters: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
(Khayal, Hajar, Yazi, Bartan, Monsters, Paige - yes, Paige is last)
GM_Pace |
(Your actions seemed to indicate the next round. And we've gone past the "Monsters" action, to the end of the round. Blame your GM for being literal, linear, and having a one-track mind. :) )
Paige Nightsong |
Fair enough! GM's calls always fine with me! and this too, can be RPed:) Paige's heart leaps in to her throat as she sees that she will not have time to get the spell down before her friends charge into it. Hajar is gonna kill me! she thinks to herself as the color drains from her face...awaiting her turn like a good little driud now!
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar just holds till Paige dispels the magic. Delaying in initiative.
Khayal Bin Haleen |
That poison was more effective than hoped.
Khayal neels down to pick his kukris back up, leaving the bow down on the floor. He stands back up and shifts slightly to his right. Five foot step.
@Paige, you have some very powerful spells on your spell list. As most of us are geared for melee consider spells that make ranged attacks more difficult. Wind wall comes to mind. Just be judicious with the placement so you don't hinder our favorite card player. For example, if there is a big bad guy and his 4 archer minions, consider placing wind wall in front of the minions but avoiding the big bad. At worst this will force the archers to move, limiting them to a standard action for their attack, at best it will shut them down completely. By leaving the big bad out of the effect, you give Bartan a great target for his card tricks. This is just a hypothetical example, but Druids realy do have the ability to shape te battle field. Consider ways that not only hinder the enemy, but that play to our strengths.
Bartan Harrowborn |
Knowing the relative limits of his harrow card throwing skills, Bartan moves up to the edge of the entangled area and casts a snowball spell and just hurls it as a ranged touch attack at the big guy.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
snowball: 3d6 ⇒ (1, 5, 6) = 12 cold damage plus DC 13 Fort save or staggered for 1 round.
GM_Pace |
Reflex save DC 15: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (19) + 0 = 19
The slaves, seeing their master injured, lower their weapons. "Bastard ruled over us, we only traded gnolls for masters to him for a master. I'd sooner take my chances in the tunnels." one spits. The others nod their assent.
The misshapen man on the throne roars. "Lazrul not go back to gnolls! No more digging!" he shouts, lifting a crude Large greatclub as he rises off of the white stones. You now see that his right arm is much bigger and muscular than his left, but his legs are stunted and short and his left foot deformed into a club foot. The giant man raised the greatclub to block any potential blows. (Fighting Defensively)
(Ok, Paige. Do us the honors. Lots of delayed actions before the end of the turn here.)
Yazi |
"That Druid is as kinky as me, I swear it." Yazi muses aloud as the plants release her and Hajar. Freed she moves up to attack the slavemaster.
Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 ⇒ (2) + 9 - 2 = 9
Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 4 + 6 = 13
Hajar nar Jundi |
Hajar says Stay your blade Yazi. I will strike to defeat, but not kill. Hajar closes with the man and strikes with Tempest to inflict nonlethal Using Blade of Mercy Trait
Blade of Mercy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21 Nonlethal: 2d4 + 12 ⇒ (4, 3) + 12 = 19 and Cold: 1d6 ⇒ 4 I don't think the Cold damage is nonlethal
GM_Pace |
Just to make sure, did my ranged touch miss?
(Whoops! I mentally added the damage, and that was the reason for Larul crying out in rage, but didn't write it down. Adjusting now...)
Fort save DC 13: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (15) + 8 - 2 = 21 (He made it.)
Yazi's swing misses. The overly large man narrowly blocks the falchion with his greatclub, the icy effect spreading around the outside of the wood.
ROUND FOUR
Init:
Bartan: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Hajar: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Khayal: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8
Yazi: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Paige: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Monsters: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
(Bartan, Yazi, Khayal, Hajar, Monsters, Paige - who is last again)
Yazi |
Grumbling Yazi will attempt to thwack the man with her sword. "Why are we not wanting to kill him?"
Power Attack: 1d20 + 9 - 2 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 9 - 2 - 4 = 15
Nonlethal Damage: 2d6 + 4 + 6 ⇒ (4, 3) + 4 + 6 = 17
Bartan Harrowborn |
Bartan will cast his last shocking grasp for the day, pull out a harrow card, and hopefully toss it to great effect.
harrow card: 1d38 ⇒ 6 => The Beating (Neutral Evil, Strength)
Matches on one axis, 19-20 crit
card toss: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (6) + 8 = 14
damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 plus shocking grasp: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 3) = 14
Damn damn double-damn!
