With two arrows now loosed upon her comrades, Anjali picks her way through the brambles. Looking around at her group and judging the distance of the pugwampi still in the tree, she raises her hand to the sky and channels healing energy through her.

Channel Healing Energy: 1d6 ⇒ 3hp.

Amount of HP healed, 30ft radius centered upon the red dot on the encounter map. Nearly everyone should get a benefit here, Rombard too.

Questions :

#1 : Is there a rock that I could throw at the pugwampi in the tree?

#2 : And another question : if I step back a little, will my badluck end since I would be beyond 20 feet from him ?

#3 : If I throw a rock at him, I think I would take -4 for improvised weapon and another -4 for throwing through allies, that's it ? If it's the case, I could move to J9 or something like that...

Bartan's card (explodes?) on the creature. It sways for a moment before losing it's grip, then slips off into the bottom of the ravine taking an additional 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 = 15 It is now very dead.

END COMBAT. End unluck aura. No more acro checks required.

As the healing energy from Anjali washes over Yazi she quivers a bit, "Ooh, nice one Angel."

Anjali tucks a stray lock of hair behind her ear, giving both women a shy smile. "I thought it would be prudent to heal everyone considering all of this," she says, idly poking at the prickly vegetation with the tip of her crossbow.

Her attention strays to the corpse in Hajar's care. "Have we inspected the creature to make sure it made those three-toed tracks? If it is, then perhaps it is enough to convince the say'yida Almah that it may very well have started the fire. We should probably show the...body to her."

Catching a glimpse of Bahram through the joshua trees, she calls out. "Bahram? Is that goat by you? It is high time to take it back to camp with us."

Anjali inspects the creatures' anatomy:

hm. it is a very ugly anatomy. Legs like a chicken, body of a small body builder, head of a possessed Chihuahua. It does indeed have three toes. And it smells like a dead racoons which has been in the sun for a few days. Yuck. Treasure: It has a gold ear ring which you may take, and three burnt harrow cards, presumably from Eloais' deck.

The goat is careful to remain at least 15 ft from Bartan, who will almost certainly gain a nickname among the herd: he-who-casts-evil-spells-on-small-goats.

Female CG Human Oracle 3 (Life Mystery) | AC 13, Touch 11, FF 12 | HP25/25 | INIT: +1; Fort +1, Ref +2, Will +5

The nauseating odor of the dead pugwampi causes Anjali's eyes to water. It induces a few dry heaves that wrack the girl's slim frame. "Ugh. Now I know that I am in dire need of a bath after being next to one of these." As payment for the ugly creature daring to offend her sensitive nostrils, she takes the gold earring and the burnt harrow cards.

Anjali gives Rombard the bedraggled goat an affectionate pat as she walks past the animal to show the cards she found to Bartan, silently vowing to check up on the goat when they get back to camp.

"I found these on one of the pugwampis. Do they mean anything?" She pauses, catching her lower lip between her teeth, appalled at her lack of manners. "My apologies. I should have asked after your injuries first! I can examine you once we get back to camp if you are still hurt." She looks around at the rest of her companions. "That goes for all of you as well."

Yes, there's a small explosion of untyped magical energy when one of my cards hit something, just to give you a visual of the effect.

Anjali gets tongue tied, flustered for a moment. The Badawi men were a serious lot and were not often prone to winking. Shaking her head, she laughs self-consciously as she walks back to camp. "This snow...ball? It is wondrous indeed, but seems far too cold to cold to use."

Walking ahead of Bartan, she tosses a grin at him over her shoulder. "Perhaps I can help with the water though." Catching up with the girls, she places a friendly arm around Yazi and Avenka's shoulders, a comical move considering her lack of height. He pauses briefly before continuing "It's my original purpose for being here but it seems everyone is tight lipped about it unless gold is involved - and that's not something I've in abundance at the moment."

Okay, this is a small 1st level treasure hoard. Sometimes you will have the opportunity to buy your own treasure from the books, like the Weapon's Wagon here, and other times I would like to hand out specific stuff...so it would help if you guys would PM me your future requests for gear so i can work it in to the story.

Bahram:
The serving girl still won't talk to you. But she does smile, and ducking behind a corner, hidden together in a tent flap, she gives you a gift. Where she got it you have no idea, but it is no trinket: it is a curved dagar of Katapeshi steel, with a bejeweled pomel. When removed from it's scabbard it glows pale indego. It is a magic dagger with a +1 enhancement bonus! Your total wealth on your hseet should now be 2300gp

Anjali:
Almah offers you access to her private spa: a tent room where a soft stretched calf skin has been pulled over a wooden lattice making a bath. Warm scented rose-water fills the bath, and lotions and soaps from distant lands are provided. When you are done you are given as a gift sheer dancing robes as red as the desert sun, and a black transparent veil. You are also given your choice of a single piece of Jewelry from Almah's private collection. All your gifts combined are worth 300gp (your total character worth on your sheet should now be close to 600gp)

Dhavyn:
Almah laughs at your awkward request. You need not try so hard with me Master Sorcerer, I will tell you the fables, at least as I have heard them. Come sit by Bartan and I. Will post Almahs' story later. I really need to do a little work first so I don't lose my job.

Yazi, Avenka, Khayal:
Almah orders Asif and Hafiz to take you to the weapons wagon. They tell you The Pactmasters of Katapesh themselves commissioned Lady Almah for this mission to free Kelmarane. These items are from the Royal Guard's vault. I hope you each find something in here that is useful! Everything in the wagon is MWK quality. You may take 600gp worth of weapons and armor of your choice each. Your character sheets should each now show close to 900gp

Bartan:
You are asked to sit beside Almah and talk with her about the coming storms. Though she has nothing for you just yet, you are becoming the closest she has to a friend since Eloais died. Almah's NPC attitude toward Bartan is shifted to HELPFUL

Hajar:
Many hours later Hajar is approached by Dhaski himself. I wish to thank you, Sir, for clearing my name. Although I do not have much to give you that will be useful in the days ahead. But perhapse you will be interested in this: There are two tribes of Gnolls in these hinterlands. The first are the Gnolls of Kelmarane. They are evil. Servants of the Rouvagug. Their master is the Carrion King, a mighty Gnoll warlord who lives in the Mountains. The other tribe is the THREE JAWS PACK. They are more, how shall we say, traditional. They serve Lamashtu and hate the Gnolls of Kelmarane and their sick god. I have learned through my sources that there was a skirmish recently, up in the mountains, at the foot of a fabulous waterfall See Hinterlands Map. But something happened. The two packs stopped fighting and teamed up for some reason. If the Three Jaws Pack has teamed up with the Gnolls of Kelmarane, it can mean only trouble. Someone should at least scout out what's going on up there!

Total Treasure Should Now Be:

Anjali=600gp
Bahram=2300gp
Yazi=900gp
Hajar=300gp; but got a quest
Avenka=900gp
Khayal=900gp
Dhavyn=300gp; but is about to get a story
Bartan=300gp; but Almah is HELFPFUL toward Bartan

As night falls on this second day of your adventures Dhavyn, and anyone else who wishes to listen, gather around Almah to hear about Genies.

Almah tells you some strange Lore:
The stories always start with The Templars of the Five Winds. They were a group of five powerful genies from antiquity. They have not been heard from in centuries, but travelers in the northern reaches of Katapesh and the southern bounds of Osirion still sometimes attribute miracles or victories to their guidance. Legend tells that the Templars of the Five Winds defeated a great evil hundreds of years ago near Pale Mountain in the Brazen Peaks, a pinnacle not very far from the village of Kelmarane. Each Templar was associated with a specific aspect of the wind, and each wielded a distinct, highly potent magic weapon. The Templars of the Five Winds were said to be particular enemies of the cult of Rovagug, god of destruction, and many tales of their triumphs recount battles against the spawn of that vile religion. The templars themselves are jann, mortal genie-spirits dedicated to no particular element. For some reason, these jann cannot die, though none have been seen in centuries. The Templars of the Five Winds served a powerful djinni princess named Nefeshti, a great genie noble whose designs upon Osirion and Katapesh have had good and bad consequences. The Song of Edrehu suggests that the Templars’ immortality came from a powerful wish uttered by Nefeshti in antiquity, stating that so long as the warriors retained her favor, they would live forever. Almah pauses here, gauging your interest.

"Do these Janni templars have names? Also what do you mean that Nefeshti's designs have had both good and bad consequences?" Realizing he is sidetrailing the story Dhavyn adds "My aplogizes. I'll reserve the questions in the end. Please continue."

Anjali has spent hours luxuriating in Almah's private tent. She comes out looking clean and freshly scrubbed, smelling of the attar of roses mixed with citrus and bergamot. The wet in her hair still holds the furrows from her recent use of a comb while her fingers bear the wrinkles from a long soak - such simple joys for the Badawi girl after long days atop a camel. She makes sure to find one of Almah's servants to have them relay her thanks to their generous mistress. Her new robes and gifts are now painstakingly bundled away in her pack.

She finds Almah launching into a story about janns. Her interest piqued, Anjali moves closer and claims a seat nearby. "I love stories about the janns," she murmurs, resting her chin in her palm as she waits for Almah to continue.

Are they inside a tent? Outside by a fire? Somewhere else entirely?

Anjali, I would say we are outside by the fire - there is some roasted goat meat left if you want some...

Almah smiles: Indeed, Master Dhavyn, they do have names.

  • Davashuum, an amoral and deadly creature that served Nefeshti as an executioner.
  • Kardswann: A scout and traveler of the planes, Kardswann’s weapon is an elaborate greataxe.
  • Pazhvann is Nefeshti’s advisor and spiritual guide. His weapon is a burning flail.
  • Vardishal: A general of Nefeshti’s armies, There is an old Monestary nearby that was dedicated to him.
  • Finally Zayifid. Nefeshti’s spy. He represents the west wind, upon which secrets thought hidden were carried. His weapon is a delicate but razor-sharp scimitar.

    But there is more to the tale, as I've heard it...

  • Silver Crusade

    Dhavyn has pulled out the parchment from its case and is writing details in shorthand as the princess continues her tale.

    Finally someone who is willing to share something. Even if most of it is likely to be fables. Still there ought to be a grain of truth in these stories. Just need to distill it... I'll be needing more parchments or a small book soon he muses and continues scribbling.
