His ear pressed against the wall, Eirik could hear the sounds of people shuffling around the room, mixed with the thud of the occasional sword or other weapon hitting the furniture. And muttered curses when people got into each others’ way in their hurry.

[i]’Speak of peace and prepare for war,’[/ooc] the monk thought. He glanced back at Caleb, waved his hand franticly to get his attention, pointed first at his ear, then to the wall next to him, and then mimicked putting on heavy clothes, tightening clasps and straps, taking up weapons and shields. Once he was sure the mystic had got at least the gist of what he meant Eirik crept a few steps further to spy on the back wall of the building.

Was actually thinking of the corner a couple squares further east to see the back wall of the building too.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Drat. Forgot to ask again. How high was the side building again? And did it have level or very slanted roof? If it's not too challenging, Eirik could jump up and creep to the corner up there instead of down below.

Tillia listened to what the dwarf said and decided that, despite his unwillingness, checking on those guards was the right thing to do. "I will check on them but not because it's illegal, Thrune thinks the law doesn't apply to him and that he can simply make up new ones at his whim. If you truly think he'll let them go after they serve their time you're crazy, he'll either never let them go or order them killed in some grizzly manner." She moved away and went to check on the downed guards and had no clue what Eirik was doing, Maybe he's able to cast spells too and was holding out on us? Who knows. As she checked she made sure that was ready to cast a spell on any that may try to attack her. As she headed towards the guards Tillia blanched at Caleb's threat and could swear he was completely serious.

Not sure what the dc is to determine if they're alive or not but if a 10 heal check is enough then I will take 10 if allowed, otherwise I'll roll it.

You can assume you are in the northeast corner.

The building is 10' tall with flat roof (easy climb).

Checking on the guards will take 3 rounds (+1 round to get back) and heal DC=10 will do so you make it. Two of the guards dying and one is already dead.

Once he was sure the mystic had got at least the gist of what he meant Eirik jumped up to catch the edge of the roof and quickly pulled himself up, taking care not to make enough noise to be overheard. Once crouched on the roof, the monk crept to the far side of the building, alert in case the guards decided to break out through there to come at them from two directions.

If this is the case, then let's say that 5 rounds passed before Tillia gets back to the 'door' to share (or not) what she found out about the guards.

Caleb and Eirik (and Rowan?) are just waiting for Tillia to get back.

Let me know if my assumptions are correct.

If so, this means that Vandomir has about 5 rounds worth of actions to do as well.

Rowan saw Eirik gesturing wildly before climbing on to the roof. She thought he was trying to tell them something and so she listened even harder for what had gotten his attention.

perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

All the warpriest could hear was Caleb and the dwarf and so hoped that Eirik knew what he was doing. She continued to wait along the wall in case the dwarf came out. It seemed odd that he was staying locked inside his room. For what they had been told, he seemed like the type who would have jumped at a fight.

not sure if the sense motive check tells her anything but she'll continue to watch and wait.

Action 1

Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 +2 vs humans

Vandomir could hear someone inside the room, but it was locked. He couldn't make out what they were saying though, If they were guards though, surely they would have emerged to fight though? "Come friends," he called to his fellow conspirators, "someone is in here, and not guards I think."

I promise I figured it was prisoners before I even saw the perception check, so I'm sticking with my first impression.

Vandomir slammed his shoulder against the door, attempting to get at those inside the room.

Strength: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20

The door was too stout to break, but the hinges let go, and the door flew open.

Or...

He rebounded off of the door, his efforts ineffective.

Action 2

I'm not involved in the stuff at the other door, so I'll not roll or act, but if I find prisoners here, I will give them the Princess Leia routine "this is a rescue!" But not giving names, hahaha.

Don't see Caleb just sticking around for a fair fight. Might be another action or two though.
Stalling me?
Caleb backed away, chanting meaningless words, prepared, and threw his new vial at the door.
"Let it BURN!" he shouted aloud, surprised at how easy it was to turn his rage to the purpose.
So - plan is that they have been primed to expect a locked door and fire. There is now fire. Dwarf may panic, try to break down the door, and let it open. If so, Caleb will try to take the advantage to keep the door open.
If a bunch of them come running out, he'll run too.
If nothing happens he'll just keep going back and head to Vandomir. When he finds Tillia saving the guards he's going to be angry, and probably want to kill them. Cue interaction?

The sound of Milani and the Silver Ravens struck a chord within the prisoners. Forvian quickly pledged his support, "Give me a day or two to gain my strength and I shall gladly help. We were looking for something like this during the protest."

He looked at each member of the group in turn, "The Silver Ravens, eh?"

Your boots and duster are looking very nice indeed, quite the fashion statement.

I'd like you to write about how you have ditched your father's business for the time being. Last time, you told us that you went to the protest to assess potential damage to the park and opera house.

Isn't your family worried with all the kidnapping going around?

What about the rest of you? Anyone you should be checking in with? Remember that this game will last months...

Have we seen any wanted posters and such? I had a belief, possibly erroneous, that because of the killing we did on the day of the protest, that we were wanted individuals. If that's not the case, let me know, and I'll write up something even better than how I ditched the business.

The prisoner break raid happened on Day 6 and I've asked for actions all the way up to Day 13 so let's say (assuming that you left Kosranni alive) that wanted posters (with general descriptions) start appearing in Day 9.

You know, posters asking the population about known members and location of the 'Silver Ravens terrorist group', offering money for information.

I've set up the initial planning session for the morning after (Day 7) but you can set up another planning session for a later date (after the posters have appeared).

You may, of course, play your PC as you want but it makes sense that the Silver Ravens may have to gain support from the 'nobles' later so be careful about burning any bridges. The above advice could have been provided by Rexus or Laria.

Some of the guards that were 'disabled' by Caleb may have seen you and the current thought is to let them live.

In any case, the descriptions are going to be 'general' (i.e., no one took your picture with their iphone).

The double life would work. I think there's some definite interaction with the nobles coming in Book 3 but that doesn't mean that I won't change things up a bit and get the nobles involved sooner...

Tillia spent much of the next week studying the books on strategy and trying to put some of it into practice. During the course of learning she gathered everyone and said, "We've done alright so far but I think we need to step our efforts up a bit, try to get more done. We need someone to work on recruitment for sure, does anyone have suggestions on what else we should try to do? Also we shouldn't forget the tengu, they're a valuable resource and one we should use."

tillia will take on the strategist role this time, see if she learned anything from those books or not.

Not only had Tillia worked hard on studying she also began to create a few more scrolls to help them out as a group. the first she made were a pair of scrolls to identify magical items, something she hoped would be very useful as they went on, she then began preparing a couple more spell to create grease as it had proved invaluable with the lice and lemures. She finally decided on making two scrolls to create mist to use for cover. All of them came out usable and she considered it time well spent. On the seventh day when everyone gathered to discuss what they had done during the week she said, "I've been working on creating more scrolls in my free time. I think you and I are the only ones who might be able to use them Caleb. Take a few if you want them."

Create 2 scrolls each of the following: identify, grease, obscuring mist. total 150 gold.

On the third night she went and found Rexus, "Mind if I sit with you a bit Rexus?"

Action 3 - Day 7

Before he left, Vandomir informed Rowan of his intent: to go back and make contact with his family, and hopefully slide back into his life as a cover. She had tried to convince him that he was being foolish, but in the end, he left with her blessing. "I will contact you with the Raven," he said as he left.

He had changed into worn peasants clothes, leaving behind most of his possessions. Instead of the large sword, and the bow he had been used to carrying, he armed himself with a rusty shortsword. He needed some protection, but he needed his story to stick. The bruises on his ribs hurt the worst, he had asked Eirik to make the wounds convincing. They sure felt convincing enough.

He took a very roundabout way, but eventually he had to end up back at The Greens. He had debated how to get in, but decided that the truth, or near to it, would work the best. He gave his name and flashed his ring, and got right through the guards at the wall. From there it was straight down the street to the Jarvis estate. At the gate, both guards knew him immediately, but were surprised to see him. "Master Vandomir, by the Rose, we had all given you up for dead."

He had hoped to see his father first, but once word got out, he was taken straight to the main house to see the family matriarch, Belcara. "Well now, not so dead as we had thought I see. Come now boy, tell me what you've been at since last you were seen."

Vandomir had always dreaded the woman's attention, but the activity of the last week had steeled him against it. "I am sorry Aunt Belcara, it was all such a misunderstanding," he started. "Father had wanted me to be on hand to appraise the repair costs after the riots last week, so I went down nice and early. But, but, things got so out of hand. The people and the guards fought. There was blood, so much blood. As the guards, and their toughs moved in, I tried to get away, but I got caught up. They threw me in with the commoners. i didn't want to tell them who I was, so I hid my ring. I didn't want to shame the family." His aunt's hand slowly rubbed the arm of her chair, an action she usually reserved for business negotiations. "Last night, we were freed by some ruffians. I had been moved to the Salt Works. They said the work there was hard, and I could be useful there. Thank the Eternal Rose I was freed. I hid overnight, it was dark, and I didn't want to run into guards again, so this morning, I came directly here."

There is good, and THRUNE. Which are they?
This seeming ambivalence was at best confusing. At worst it threatened to shatter the fragile framework that held Caleb's sanity in check. He found resentment fighting with guilt. How DARE they...

He saw Tillia helping the injured, and the dagger was in his hand, but his attack stopped.

What if these are NOT THRUNE? The thought wouldn't leave his head. Could Tillia's naive innocence be right? Whatever the answer, this is no place for deep thoughts he realised let's get out before this goes bad again

Vandomir, if you tell me what you need, perhaps I can pay for the equipment and the 6 of us could move it? How much work are we talking about?

[b]"If we can get a temple like that set up, then I think we should reach out to the Wasps. Would mean either risking exposure, running a double secret, picking a new place for a base, or picking a new place for temple."
He considers "If we went back to the old place - the one with the portal - might that work? Actually, that might be a good place for a temple if we cleaned it up. If it was sanctified it might shut down that temple." He looks thoughtful "You know, done right... a temple like that could actually earn us some black market money..." yes, a "dance house"

"Tillia - I'll help you with the recruitment. If we don't start growing, soon, people will start to submit."

Action 1
A day or two after rescuing the captives from the salt mine Tillia approached the rest fof the Raven leadership and said, "You know, we really should investigate those fires. It's the only thing I can think of that we have outstanding besides building the movement. what do the rest of you think? While we're at it we might want to check out the marketplace, I heard that there are a lot of things fro sale at the moment and some good deals to be had."

Tag Everyone.

On the third night:
Tillia found Rexus in his accustomed place pouring over the books. She pulled up a chair beside him and sat down so she could see what he had been reading this time and said, "I've been reading the book you gave me Rexus and I think I've got it now." She looked a little sheepish and continued, "Well, mostly. It's this part that I've been having difficulty with." She pulled out a book written in a different language and began to read out loud, "Ut vires regni suo plano foraminis redundare coeperunt coepit attingere materiam primam. Hanc siquidem pluribus regnis coepit magno vulneri repellat devexa montis in mundo." she paused, "This next line seems to be a rather large problem, I can't quite make out what it says, rather I know what it says but I can't understand it in the celestial tongue."

celstial:
Used latin for the language. "As the forces of the abyss began to flood the realm their plane began to intrude upon the prime material. In response to this several kingdoms banded together and began the crusades to drive back the great wound in the world."

Tag Rexus.

Hope that's not too presumptious but since she's been helping with the translation Tillia has had Rexus tutoring her in celestial and strix. I took a rank in linguistics and chose the celestial language to go with it.

Female Human Warpriest/4

Rowan was feeling more light hearted after her discussion with Forvian and his crew. They would be patrolling the streets of Kintargo and helping where needed. The warpriest saw Milani’s hand at work by bringing help and hope to the people who needed it the most. Before they left, she said a blessing over them.

When Rexus told them what he had learned about the original Silver Ravens, Rowan was encouraged by hearing that one of them had been a follower of Milani. In fact, there seemed to be a lot of similarities between the original group and themselves. Some may have seen it as coincidence but the warpriest saw it as a divine fingerprint.

Laria’s comment about some people actually having hope, Rowan’s doubts faded somewhat. They were actually making a difference and maybe they were doing something right after all. Rowan was about to speak up about what they might do next when Tillia voiced what she had been thinking herself.

The warpriest nodded, ”I agree with you about checking out the fires. Maybe we can find out more information by sifting through the ashes. There’s a reason why the places were burned after all.”

”The news about the marketplace is good to know. We could probably use some more supplies and other useful items.”

does everyone get the minor/intermediate item and potion or is it one for the Silver Ravens?

Rowan will put her skill point into stealth. She discovered how bad she was and learned a few pointers in the process :)

What's everyone plans for the holidays?

I have friends in town until Saturday afternoon, but should still be able to post early morning/late evenings.

Being in Canada, I don't have holidays this week. I'll be around but I do have company over the weekend so I may not be posting during the day.

”Agreed. We are getting started, but we still lack the numbers to attempt anything major. But information would always be welcome.”

Let’s put the extra point to Perception. Always good to have a spotter. And no holidays in Finland either, though the independence day is a week away come Sunday.

Agree that we might as well look into the fires – you dropped heavy enough hints the last time ;^) For the organization’s week actions, I’d do a repeat of last week, gathering information and support both.

OK, I'll have next recap with you investigating the fires. Please let me know some basic MO for this (time of day, where to first, precautions, etc.).

I'll try to recap tonight but make no promises...

Happy Thanksgivings!
