Action 1
Listening to all of the discussion Tillia stood there with grease on her body and in her hair. After a minute the grease faded away leaving her unsoiled by grease or lice but mussed. "I'm glad that's over with, now if I could just do something about my hair, and bathe..." she shuddered all of a sudden as she glanced in the direction of the lemures remains, "well maybe not bathe yet, I'll feel much better." She examined the workmanship of the Silver Ravens they had found, and heard of their history, all the while she ran a brush through her hair. Finally she said, "If those items are that important in the stories then then we should keep them, at least for now, they might do more than we realize just now." When Rexus started speaking of an inn where they would be safe Tillia found she couldn't help herself, she threw her arms around him and kissed him soundly, "By the goddess I think I might be in love. Please, lead the way."

Action 2
As they discussed going to the inn Tillia spoke with Rexus, "I'm afraid I don't know celestial or strix, but I'd be interested in helping with the translation some. I've never studied languages much but I admit these documents might change convince me to do it. I'd be honored if you would teach me about them, I just hope I won't slow you down if you do." Despite how 'well' she's handled all of this, Tillia sounded more than a little down and in need of a distraction.

Rexus smiled, "Languages is one of my specialties and I happen to be well-versed in these languages but it's no small task given the amount of documents you have found."

He nodded, "Your help is most welcome. What languages are you familiar with?"

”We often heard haunting tunes of pipes in the ruins,” Eirik said, trying to drag Rexus's attention momentarily from the precious documents, ”but never found any sign of the piper, nor a place he or she might have hid. Have you heard of any story that might shed light to that piece of mystery?” After all, they had already dismissed the suspicion of the place being haunted once. Perhaps they had been too hasty to assume so...

Rexus shook his head, "Nothing but rumors about this place. It's supposed to be haunted, but I never would have guessed that it had been used as gate to Hell."

He seemed ashamed and shuddered, "I'm glad you all are so capable. I think I would have died in this place. Thank you."

Rexus' previous suggestions having worked out so well for him, Vandomir quipped, "as much as I love a good book, and a musty bookstore, your last suggested hideout led me to sign away my life in a pledge towards a seemingly unobtainable objective. I am unable to imagine what could possibly top that experience at a coffeehouse, but I am also curious enough to find out."

Rexus' nose wrinkled at the stink of this place, "Well, this coffeehouse smells much better than it does here. It's in a wonderfull part of town, and Laria was a good friend of my mother and a wonderful host."

Turn 27/Action 1:
While Rexus studied the pages from the coffer, Rowan took a look at the scrolls to see if they’d be useful.

Does Rowan recognize any of the scrolls or are they arcane?

She was intrigued as Rexus talked excitedly about the pages they had found. It would be interesting to find out what was so important to warrant a cypher once Rexus was able to decipher them. Rowan picked up one of the pages and couldn’t make heads or tails of what was written. ”I think we would definitely benefit from your expertise. Otherwise it will take us forever to figure out what they say.”

Rexus wrote:
He seemed ashamed and shuddered, "I'm glad you all are so capable. I think I would have died in this place. Thank you."

”It’s not like it was a walk in the park for us. As you can see from our appearance, we had quite the battle. The portal to hell was definitely a surprise but we gained valuable experience in the process.”

Turn 27/Action 2:
Rowan’s mood brightened at the mention of Villegre. She had many fond memories of the park there and she was well acquainted with the coffee house that Rexus spoke of. ”I had no idea that Laria was anything more than a friendly and cool coffee house owner. She always had the best undiscovered bards playing in the evenings. I spent most of my time in Villegre Park but everyone knew that Laria’s had the best coffee in the area.” The warpriest continued, ”I guess it wouldn’t hurt to go there and find out what we can, rest up, and then return here to investigate the pipe music at a later time. I think there may be more to discover here but I would rather not camp out here.”

Caleb seemed absorbed in the ravens as the others spoke, turning them over in his hands one by one.

"Huh? Wait, documents about the Silver Ravens? You'll need to be really, really careful Rexus. THRUNE seeks to control the present by controlling the past. Documents like those... they'd do more than kill you if they catch you with them. No one can know." he looked around "Okay? These have to be kept secret."
Caleb has student of revolution so I think he knows how Thrune treats information. Delete it if I'm wrong!

Caleb looked regretfully at his coat "I'm going to need a new coat. It was worth it Eirik - no doubt there. Even if I got it patched, though, I'm just not sure I'd ever get the smell out. In the meantime..."
Awkwardly he took the grey cloak and donned it over his armour. "Does it look alright? Covers things up, not too weird?"

any chance Rexus might identify them? Can we work together or something? Linguistics check?
If not
"Look, they're ugly, and infested. Still... I vote we tie them up, go to the coffee house, try to find someone who speaks their language, get a heap of butter - and some food - and then wake them up and apologize."
"We can't just let them go if we're coming back. I don't want to kill them." he looked over at Vandomir as if expecting argument.

Tillia took the coffe and pastries and ate them with relish, I haven't had such food in some time. Oh, I think I may have died and gone to heaven. "It's nice to meet you m'am, I'm Tillia, a wizard and recent faithful of Shelyn. As for my reasons, well, I want to save my friend Alinza, she was taken into custody by the guards during the rally."

Action 2
When asked for details Tillia said, "Well, for me it started when I went to the protest with my friend Alinza from the Temple of Shelyn. She was one of the priestess and meant to help keep the peace, she kinda got pulled into it and instigated things instead. Thugs in the crowd started a fight and it went out of control from there. We all ended up fleeing together and saved Rexus here. He lead us to a safe haven and then pointed us to the livery." She took another bite of the pastry and washed it down with coffee, "We ran into a pack of feral dogs and dealt with them, then found our way into the old slaughter house..." Tillia gave a shudder at the memory and said, "I-i think I'll let the others tell the rest."

Action 1:
It had seemed like an eternity since Rowan had had such amazing coffee and she found herself drinking cup after cup. A lot had happened that day and as usual, the best way for her to process the events was to take out her sketch pad and draw. She often felt she was better with pictures than she was with words and so while the others talked about what had happened, she drew what she had seen. She purposely stayed quiet when Laria asked why they wanted to rebuild the Silver Ravens because Rowan didn’t have a concrete answer. She was still finding her footing and found it hard to believe that she was in the middle of a revolution even though she was only seventeen. Realizing that her quietness may be viewed as rude Rowan finally piped up, "I'm a servant of Milani and they call me Rowan. If my face looks familiar it's because I used to spend a lot of time around here in Villegre Park."

Action 2:
When she had a few sketches finished of the grimples and lemures, she showed them to Laria to add to what the others had said. She also added the previous sketches she had done of Nox and Tiberius into the mix to see if Laria recognized either of them. Pointing at the drawing of Tiberius Rowan said, "He was why I was at the protest. I was trying to find him." Then she pointed at the drawing of Nox and said, "She is partially why we ended up together at the end of the protest."

”Eirik Clausen, follower of the Lawgiver,” Eirik said with a courteous nod of his head. He took a sip of the fragrant brew and sighed in pleasure. Coffee wasn’t usually his drink of choice – he much preferred teas or hot spiced wine during the chillier months – but after the day’s troubles and dangers, the hot cupful and the sweet, rich pastries certainly hit a spot.

”I did not set out to oppose the Paracount’s rule, I merely wished to record the struggle I saw as inevitable, but circumstances got the better of me – after the protest, returning to our normal daily lives is no longer safe. As for the Ravens… it is clear that the Paracount needs to be opposed, and the Ravens have a history of doing just that. And even if they were brought low, their legend still lives in the hearts of the people.”

”Besides, taking up the mantle of the Silver Ravens would give the opposition some legitimacy that will be needed down the road.”

Tillia wrote:
Tillia gave a shudder at the memory and said, "I-i think I'll let the others tell the rest."

Eirik didn’t see himself as particularly eloquent storyteller, but he figured he might as well begin the tale. ”We followed the sound of pipes into the depths of the cellar,” he said, between sips of coffee. ”At first, some spells set to make the ruins seem haunted assaulted us. We never did find the one responsible for setting them up – perhaps they had been cast long ago after all. Nor did we find the hidden piper, only heard the echoes of the music.”

”We disturbed a nest of some rodent-like creatures, then stumbled upon the remains of a portal into the nether realms,” the monk went on. ”It seemed unfinished, and undisturbed for a long time, but perhaps some force did linger in the portal, for a group of otherworldly fiends arose to oppose us. It was a close battle but we did prevail, although some of us were the worse for wear,” he said, remembering just how close he had been to death. It had been an… eye-opening experience.

”We found some lost treasures and old documents pertaining to the Ravens. Documents intentionally written in a cipher to protect the secrets within.”

Yes, I know we heard the pipes only after we got down, but they play an important role in Eirik’s memories so he’s remembering things in the wrong order. Not all that atypical of a human after all ;^)

Vandomir bounced the question around in his head before responding,"Who am I you ask? At this time, I am figuring that out myself. I know who I was yesterday, even this morning, but as for now. I seem to be somewhere between the two ladies there. Among other things, I had been a somewhat pious follower of Shelyn, at least I should like to think that I was. However, circumstances, and I believe the hand of Shelyn, have pushed me to dedicate my services to Milani. So why do I wish to reconstitute the Silver Ravens?" He rubs his chin and considers, "I am unable to say that I had even heard of them prior to today. As for today, well, I do not believe that I have any real personal motivation to do so, other than that some of our company, Rowan included, seem convinced that doing so is the surest path towards the objectives laid out before us. I hope you understand why I might be a bit reluctant to completely spell out what those objectives might be, but let it suffice that I believe our mission is blessed by both Shelyn and Milani." He finishes, and then recalls something, "ahh, and you may call be Vandomir if it pleases you."

Action 2:

Having listened to his companions describe their adventures, Vandomir was surprised that they had seemingly left out the most important, and possibly the culminating event of the day. "As my newfound friends seem to trust you, for reasons not completely unknown to me, I shall provide a bit of evidence to you that our tale is true, and that our mission is blessed." He looks from side to side furtively, ensuring that no prying eyes could see his next action. He reached into his pocket and pulled forth the Silver Raven statuette from earlier. "Here you see a physical manifestation of the will of the goddesses. The physical perfection it has, as well as the transcendent imagery that connects the historical Silver Ravens with that of this statuette, and thus to us now. We were meant to be the bearers of this idol, and as such be the bearers of the mantle of the Silver Ravens which has been placed upon us by both Shelyn and Milani."

Female Human Warpriest/4

Towards the end of the discussion, Rowan finally remembered the rose that was still tucked behind her ear. Turning to Laria she said, "I hate to be a bother but do you happen to have an empty tin from tea or spices or something that I could have?" The warpriest couldn't bare to press the rose quite yet and figured that carrying it in a container was safer than leaving it where it was.

'Fate, is it?' Eirik wondered, giving the noble scion a sidelong look. 'Is he just saying it, or does he truly believe? If he stumbles upon a gold sail on the street, does he believe Abadar has singled him out for greatness?' Truly, the noble seemed to live in a world all his own. 'But perhaps that wasn't such a bad thing', the monk mused. That world was something Eirik could only peek into from the windows, sneak in glances behind the curtains. But the nobles were a force to be reckoned with in the city, and Vandomir could meet them on a lever playing field.

As to the thought some deity was moving them on a playing field as his or her pieces... it made the monk shudder. The games of the immortals were not for the mortals to meddle into, lest they be ground into dust, used until there was nothing left. 'Look at us from your high places, I pray, and do no more,' he thought fervently.

Turn 029
Action 1
When Laria offered a place to stay for the night Tillia almost sobbed with relief, "Oh thank the goddess, I will gladly stay here tonight," Tillia's expression became very gloomy as she said, "I wasn't sure what I'd do, I have no place left to me right now."

Tillia listened to the offer of the tunnels as a headquarters and shuddered at the thought of going down there, MORE tunnels?! She quickly decided that she needed to get over that fear and looked to her allies, "I'm not sure I like the idea of going into more tunnels where nasty things might attacks us, but I guess we'll have to if we're going to make this work and I admit these tunnels would be a wonderful place to use as a base of operations, for now at least. I'm willing to do it if the rest of you are just..not tonight."

Action 2
With the discussion turning to what to do now Tillia said, "I don't know about the rest of you but I would love something to eat and a bath then straight to bed. I'm so completely exhausted it isn't funny." Even the little bird Salina looks to be drooping and weary speaking in the same language she had used before. Tillia nodded and said, "Salina here agrees with me, how about the rest of you?"

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Action 1

”A place to stay would be welcome,” Eirik said, although the price of the privilege didn't exactly appeal. Another hole in the ground to clear of pests and perhaps worse? After the slaughterhouse the monk wouldn't have minded avoiding another battle for the foreseeable future, but then, who said you always got a choice? They had promised to help free the city of the Thrunes, and promises like that came with a price.

”I will take a moment to visit the temple,” Eirik said, grimacing. ”Until proven otherwise, I will assume someone got a good look at us during the protest, and sooner or later the news will spread. I would collect my possession from my former home, and the faster I act, the smaller the chance that someone's had the time to tell all the guards to watch out for people matching our descriptions. And I can get you some holy water vials while I'm at it,” he explained, giving Caleb a lopsided smile, wincing as his new scar reminded him of its presence.

”And speaking of being recognized... might I borrow a cloak from you for a few hours?” Eirik asked their hostess.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Action 2 continued

Assuming visiting the temple is OK and there are no nasty surprises...

Wrapped in his loaned cloak that smelled ever-so-faintly of cloves, the hood pulled down to cover his face and to ward off the persistent drizzle, Eirik made his way towards the temple that had been his home since his arrival to the city.

It was remarkable how a single day could alter one's life. In the morning, he had been an aspiring historian and a barrister of no small skill, eager to spend his days observing the collapse of order and emergence of a new rule dispassionately. Watching, waiting, writing down names and dates of importance as the movers and shakers found out that the common people uniter were not so easily moved or shaken after all. And now here he was, an active participant in the struggle. Or would be, provided the rebellion didn't die in its infancy. Things were moving too fast to his liking, and not only because he always had preferred taking his time to think, to consider every aspect of a problem before acting.

No, in the span of a single day he had met other people, got into contact with the representatives of two different underground organizations the Paracount would dearly see destroyed, had fought creatures of the nether realms and had been tasked into leading the revolution and recreating a rebel faction thought destroyed. If that didn't count as moving too quickly, Eirik didn't know what would.

Eirik chose the most crowded route he knew on his way south, past the Alabaster Academy, skirting around the harbor district, over the Bleakbridge, then west towards the House of the Golden Veils, all the way along the main street. In a city like this, another man minding his own business, moving purposefully but not in haste on the major streets would draw little attention. No, trying to hide in every shadow and to avoid every eye would have been the way to draw attention to himself.

From the market on and around the Bleakbridge Eirik purchased a sewing needle and some thread, then stopped for a moment at a food vendor's stall to buy a hot meat pie. But what he was more interested was for a pretext to stop and listen to the conversations around the food stalls. Sure enough, the protest and its violent end was a major topic of interest and just as unsurprisingly, there was little more than grumbling at the rough treatment and mumbling that someone else really should do something about things. The Paracount's violent eruption had clearly shaken the people – it was understandable enough that people would be re-evaluating the situation. True, the Thrune was a worse ruler than Bainilus had been, but there was plenty of room for things to get worse still. Was it wise to poke the hornets' nest? Surely, if they just tried to reason with the man...

Eirik bit into his pie (more onion and rise than meat in it, but seasoned well enough to his liking) and moved on. Nothing he hadn't expected to hear, but it paid to have confirmation. Dissatisfaction had been simmering in the city before the protest, and when it had reached the boiling point it had been thwarted. It would take some more simmering to make people desperate enough to try again. Although, from what Eirik had seen of the Thrune today, he wouldn't be surprised if the man were to do something even more stupid and arrogant still. Something to force another confrontation, and then again make use of the hammer in place of the scalpel to defuse the situation. A circle of anger and violence that fed upon itself.

And here he was, supposed to channel that anger into an effective opposition instead of the kind of blind lashing out against the authority he expected to see in the days to come.

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Action 2 continued yet again...

Upon reaching the temple Eirik walked through the main entrance with the other customers and supplicants; after all, more people sought out the Master of the First Vault for advice on monetary issues that on how to care for their immortal souls. 'No surprise, that,' Eirik thought. 'A man toils to provide for his family in this life before he worries about the next, as he should be.' And in that, the financial advice and reasonable loans the Lawgiver's followers provided was a valuable aid. Many a business in this city and others owed its continued existence to the advice of Abadar's clergy.

And, despite the general resistance to the rigorous rule of law demanded by Abadar, the Archbanker Mhelrem Gesteliel had done well in integrating the temple into the city's daily life, Eirik thought. A level-headed man, he had found on those occasions he had had a chance to exchange anything other than quick greetings with the high priest. He'd work hard to keep the temple neutral in any confrontations with the state, Eirik believed. And since he wished the man well he might as well remove his presence from the temple for the time being, so as not to place any guilt by association on the other followers of the Lawgiver. Let them disavow him as a rogue agent if they must.

Eirik removed his cloak at the entrance and nodded his greeting to the brother standing by the gate and headed for the humble door that led from the gilded halls of worship into the far less majestic cells of the lower priests. He spent a few moments requisitioning a cleric's robe and two vials of holy water from the temple's quartermaster, then headed for his own small room to pack. After chancing his clothes it didn't take the monk long to gather up his scant few possessions – his case files he left behind, stacked neatly on his tiny writing desk. His part in the court battles was common knowledge so hiding the papers would protect no-one in the event his part in what would follow were to be discovered and his rooms summarily searched, and his notes on the few open cases he had worked on might be useful to the monk tasked to continue his work.

His work there done, the monk lingered for a moment. There was little to be missed in the small, cool chamber, but still, it had been a home for him since he had arrived – only the second home he properly remembered, since he had been but a small child when his family had carted him off to the local temple to be raised in the faith. Eirik closed his eyes, stilled his mind and body for a moment. 'Abadar and Irori, please show me the path I need to walk,' he whispered. A moment later he opened his eyes and headed for a small back entrance from the temple, clad in the white-and-gold of a cleric of Abadar, just another anonymous robed figure out on the temple's business.

The holy water was 25g a vial, I believe. Will the temple ask for money for the vestments?

He looks to the others "Look, a lot of groups come undone at the 'splitting the loot' stage. I'm a professional, I've seen it.
Normally I'd never go in to anything without working out the split first. Given we've sort of bypassed that, what're we going to do? I know we've agreed not to use some things for the common good. How do we handle the rest?"

Action 1:
The offer of having a relatively safe place to lie low or to operate from was very appealing to Rowan. She agreed with the others that at least one of their patrons was directing their path as things were coming together. Of course she was somewhat partial and was certain that it was Milani. When Laria mentioned hearing inhuman laughter coming from below, the warpriest hesitated. They had already encountered more other-worldly creatures than she would have liked and she definitely wasn’t prepared to repeat that today. She nodded as both Tillia and Caleb voiced what she had been thinking. ”I guess that’s decided then. We’ll check on Nan in the tunnels but we will do it tomorrow.”

I’ve been meaning to ask and Eirik has brought that up…do we assume that we have all our gear or do we need to go pick it up? Otherwise, Rowan will need to go and pick up the rest of her stuff as well – in which case I would write something up assuming no issues along the way.

"I dare not even consider going home until we discover if we are known on the streets," conceded Vandomir, "that makes sleeping somewhere better than sleeping nowhere I believe. If the priestess stays here, then I shall as well."

taking the tag from Rowan.

Hearing the discussion regarding the scrolls, Vandomir asks, "if we don't know what they are, how can we be sure they aren't divine? And as for the other items, I've got a raven already. Someone should wear that cloak, and maybe the leather armor, but the pearls and such, that is just cash as far as I am concerned."

"Priestess," Vandomir addresses Rowan, "while we have some time, I would very much like to learn more about yourself and Milani."

Tillia took the scrolls and cast her little spell again and began to examine them as she hoped to identify what spells were on them. "As for the ravens if we have more than we need need I agree that leasing one here is a wise idea. In addition I can get by without one if I must as I have my little bird here and Salina can get a bit jealous sometimes."

Questions, comments, and/or suggestions?

Game on!

BTW Rowan, I did not add that last bit but you can easily do that as I've left it 'open'.

I know that you know but she's unsure as to what you'd like to know. Ask away and she'll answer what she can :)

Caleb raised an eyebrow. Always told to watch out for people doing things for free... but then again I'm working for free to stop Thrune. Ah, Revenge. One of the few things that trumps Greed.

"Very generous. But things are going to get mixed up. We might have to play a little fast and free. We can hardly hire an Abadarian accountant to track everything in ledgers."
Tag Eirik!

"I do think if there's something someone can use, they should. Last thing we need is to get killed because we left something in the kitty. Tillia, I've heard wizards do something with scrolls. Do you want these?" tag Tillia: do you want to scribe these scrolls into your spellbook? I believe Caleb's magic is Psychic, and therefore neither Arcane nor Divine.

I figure Caleb is probably going to leave most of his things at home for the night, rather than keep moving them. He'll wait until they've got somewhere stable. That's under the assumption he can afford not to go home for a few days if he has clothes, food and supplies. Obviously he'll need to borrow a razor...

Upon returning he looks trepidatious "Well. Can't just leave those little guys tied up all night. I guess I'll put together some food and supplies and drop round to free them... and run..."

Action 2 is forthcoming...

"Seems to me the first thing we do is hit these tunnels - as early as we can. I'd like a real weapon, this time. It's going to need to be pretty easy to use, though - I've always relied on my speed, charm and ability to kill with a thought."
"After that, assuming we're not too cut up, we can go check on the little guys and the piper. Could be important - probably not though."
"After that I guess we start pulling stuff in. I'd really like to know what the word on the street is - Laria, can you keep an ear out?"
"If we can find out where people are being held, then we can look at trying to break people out."
"I think as we go, we should try to work out what we need. More healing, if last time was anything to go by."

"Speaking of what we need: Tillia, what can you do? I'm pretty much helpless against mindless things."

"Rowan, you hit and heal, right? Good combination."

"Vandomir, you're a born killer. Any hidden talents?"

"Eirik, you're good in a fight too. Is there anything you need?"

”Oh, I think we might want to keep these figures off of books,” Eirik said with a smile. It hurt less this time – clearly the healing magic was finishing its work. ”I doubt we shall have to worry about tax inspectors. Though I’d almost prefer to deal with an audit to facing more of those hell-beasts.” He touched his cheek, tracing the new scar with a fingertip. ”Almost.”

Caleb wrote:

”For a battle in tunnels, my fists will suffice, though I’d appreciate a moment of peace so we could get down to organizing things,” the monk said, sighing. ”I hope we’ll get the chance after we finish this task.”

… he says, while already looking at all those nasty combat feats to select once we level up ;^)

Ok, busy day, so in case I can't make another proper post I'll just list some things we might want to get done.

- have our hostess provide us with a complete map of the tunnels - she should know all about them by now
- have her provide us with the description of the fellow we go searching for, as well as his possible associates if known
- our resident artists could possibly do some sketches of both
- some magical or mundane light will likely be usable down there - should bring some spares too

Action 1 (before bed)
Tillia read through the scrolls and identified them, once she had she said, "These two are arcane scrolls, these two divine, though that one is more specific to druids. They do the following, this one will cause divination spells that read auras to misread by exchanging the aura of the subject that is being observed with the aura of something else. It won't help with other forms of divining but it does have it's uses, with permission I'd like to copy this one into my scroll book. This one is a prayer that hides the alignment of the target for a day and this one is an invocation of nature to hide the passage of the user, neither are ones I can use." She sat those three aside and held up the last, though she shuddered slightly upon touching it, "This one is also an arcane spell, one that let's your words travel on a whisper from one place to another. It's from a school of magic that I can't tolerate, I developed a splitting headache just figuring this one out and won't be able to cast it I'm afraid."

Action 2
As they sat and discussed plans Tillia simply listened, she wasn't a tactician and she knew it but she also knew she would do what she could. "A good portion of my more valuable magic is not of much use against things like those lemures, the mindless are my greatest weakness. Other spells I have can create simple illusions, conjure up a cloud of mist to obscure people's view, I can conjure patches of grease and make myself invisible for short periods of time. That scroll will give me access to a way to obscure auras once I get it copied over to my book. I also have Selina here to scout as well, no one worries about a thrush, just one more bird flying around out there." Tillia thought of anything else pertinent, "As far as non-magical skills I am talented at turning people into friends, knowledge of the arcane and people, and I'm also a competent housekeeper."

She considered the other suggestions, "As for my things, I have them all with me, I really don't have a lot of possessions, and I carry them on me most of the time. I also agree that we need to do something about those creatures we left tied up, they attacked us because we invaded their home, they don't deserve to die for that. Besides, maybe they'll help us for not killing them and cleaning out the devils down below where they live at." As the discussion continued and plans were resolved Tillia said, "Once we have our plans I need an hour so I can memorize some spells, I just thought I should wait on it until we knew what we were doing." She looked questioningly at the group, "Are there any particular magics you want me to have available?"

@Fabian: If it wasn't going to draw attention to Rowan to have her backpack with her at the protest then she would have taken it knowing what happened to her previous residence when she left it. If it was going to be weird to have her stuff then she would have left it and would need to go back for it. I would think she'd take her stuff with her but ultimately it's the GM's call...just let me know.

Female Human Warpriest/4

Action 2:

After enjoying the best breakfast she'd had in months, Rowan was ready to get on with the day. She felt Milani's renewed energy within herself and things seemed a little more hopeful now that the list of allies was growing.

Sitting down with Laria, Rowan asked her to describe Nan so that she could sketch him. She also asked Laria to describe the Wasp's Nest to the best of her knowledge so that she could try drawing a crude map. Drawing a map proved to be much more frustrating than the warpriest had expected. It was drastically different than sketching people and things she could see. In the end, she looked at the map she'd drawn and hoped that wouldn't be the only thing keeping them from getting lost.

Female Human Warpriest/4

not sure if this would go in action 1 or 2...

Considering the unclaimed ranged weapons Rowan asked, "Would someone be able to use either of these? I could potentially use the shortbow but if it would be of better use in someone else's hands then so be it. If no one can use the hand crossbow then maybe it should be sold as well?"

We are all bunking in the same room, right? B6, I assume? Hope none of you snores ;^)

Early morning

The first night in the coffee house had brought back to mind Eirik’s initial years in the temple dormitories, sharing a room with a dozen strange kids all sent to the priests’ care by their families for one reason or another. And here he was again, sleeping under the same roof with a group of people he had met but hours ago… although in this case they had already saved each other’s’ lives and joined by a common purpose. Also, the three men were sharing a room with two ladies – something that had sadly not been a prominent part of his childhood sleeping arrangements, more’s the pity, even though the thought had certainly played a large role in his adolescent fantasies.

The strange sounds of the coffee house waking up to serve its early morning customers woke the monk well before first light. Not wanting to put his foot where it didn’t belong, he lingered in the room for a moment longer, sitting on his bed, taking the opportunity to meditate. He concentrated on his breathing, slow and rhythmic, felt the flow of energy in his body. He was aware of the dams in the flow where force-healed wounds had been – flesh might have been made whole by the touch of divine magic, but the body still remembered having been damaged. It would take time to adjust, but would function well enough in the meantime.

Which was good, because if today turned out at all like yesterday, it’d have reason for further adjustments before sunset.

Stifling a smile, Eirik banished the distracting thought and returned his attention to his self, practicing locating muscles protesting from yesterday’s unaccustomed punishment and slowly tensing and relaxing them one by one until the small knots of dull aches melted away. Deep in his meditation, he lost all sense of passing time and when he finally opened his eyes the first rays of sunlight were already shining through the cracks between the windows’ shutters. Feeling rested and relaxed, he rose to his feet and began rummaging in his pack for a change of clothes.

At the planning session

Sipping tea spiced with a hint of cloves and cardamom, Eirik listened to the conversation. The parts of it concerning the magical practices he felt best left for the professionals, but once the topic shifted to provisions for the day, he decided to chip in.

”Assuming someone or thing has taken over the tunnels below, I wonder if it has been accommodating enough to keep them lit to welcome intruders,” the monk mused. ”So we should at least come prepared with sources of light – if our hostess has indeed been moving people along unseen, I would assume she to be in possession of some hooded lanterns – to better to hide the light from prying eyes without putting it out. Perhaps she can be persuaded to provide us with a couple. Also, I assume she knows the tunnels below like the back of her hand, so we should have her sketch out a rough map before we head out. I doubt whatever beast has taken residence down below can have altered the passages greatly in the time it has had.

Action 1

Responding to Rowan’s Question "What would you like to know?":

Vandomir replied, “Priestess, I may be only shortly behind you in coming to the faith of Milani, but I am behind. I am anxious to learn whatever I can, and perhaps we two could learn it together if necessary. I doubt the library has books on the subject though.”

Following Rowan’s offer of joining her in the morning prayers:

Vandomir considered the offered and replied, ”if my presence will not to be a hindrance to you Priestess, I should be honored to pray with you in the morning and learn the early devotions.”

Action 2

In the morning, Vandomir had risen early and joined Rowan in the morning devotions to Milani. When they had finished, he queried her, ”why, may I ask, is the second stanza repeated thrice, and the others only twice, and in a slightly quicker meter at that?”

Tag Rowan? If you want to make something up, haha.

Responding to Caleb’s "Vandomir, you're a born killer. Any hidden talents?"

Vandomir was put back a bit by the question, ”a born killer? I should think not? I am an artist, a stonemason by trade. Until today I had never killed much more than a stag, and I am not fond of it. So I would thank you to not make assumptions as if you know me well.”
