Hmm... no idea which of the devils is the wounded one, but Eirik will close in on it and try to finish it off. Would be best for all involved if the wounded devil was the one who sought the comfort of being at Nox's side, so Eirik could start assisting Noravia.

If that was the case, Eirik could abuse the combat maneuver rules a bit... since Nox has high AC, it's unlikely the lowest AB strike will hit her. But since Eirik can do a Disarm in place of a melee attack, and combat maneuvers are always done with CMB and (apparently) do not get penalized for consecutive tries...

I'll assume the damaged critter is the one next to Nox, in which case Eirik will 5' step north of it, strike the first hit at it and then shift his attention to Nox, going for Disarm with the 3rd attack and using a Ki point to get an extra hit.

Flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (19) + 15 = 34
Flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (7) + 15 = 22 Use 1 Ki point for extra attack at best AB
Flurry, unarmed: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (1) + 14 = 15
Improved Disarm, unarmed: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (20) + 15 = 35 This... is a pretty decent attempt to get rid of Nox's glaive... a repeat performance to what happened under the Phantasmagorium, perhaps? ;^)

Damage, unarmed, lethal (devil): 1d10 + 1d6 + 1d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + (1) + (3) + 1 + 1 = 9 The bleed should finish the thing if this isn't quite enough. Or if not, the second attack should definitely do it; it won't do a thing against Nox, that's for sure...

Dodging and weaving amidst the glaives seeking his flesh, Eirik managed to baffle his foes for the moment and smiled behind his mask in satisfaction when he forced his chosen foe to back away towards Nox as it sought to maintain the distance it needed to wield its long weapon. The monk pursued, his sudden burst of speed catching the devil by surprise as the monk jumped into the air to land a double-footed flying kick in its chest. Wailing, the devil sailed down into the orchestra pit, vanishing from sight and from Eirik’s attention. For he was now close enough to Nox to assist Noravia in her efforts.

Crowding in close to make it harder for the devil-bound woman to use her own weapon, Eirik launched a few probing blows at her and immediately understood he was facing a foe of much higher caliber than the glaive-wielding devils. The haft of the weapon seemed to move as if independently alive to block the monk’s blows, a painful reminder of their previous encounter in the bowels of the ransacked Archivists’ abode. But back then Eirik had had one tactic that had worked, so why not attempt it again?

Using the way Nox deflected one of his punches away, Eirik stepped forward and turned to the side, sliding his back against the now-horizontal glaive. With a lightning-quick move he slid his arms up and over the half, his arms inside Nox’s own grip, and leaned forward while pushing against the blindfolded warrior’s hip with his backside, trying his best to wrench the weapon free from Nox’s hands.

OK, I'm back at home and hoping to recap later today.

Where are my Ravens??? :)

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

This Raven was working...

Noravia wasn't sure if she could survive another hit from Nox's weapon. With a momentary thought, the inquisitor switched her judgment to allow for herself to heal. Then she made use of her good aligned weapon in concert with Eirik's help, and struck out at Nox once again.

Nox is the only one within reach so Noravia will go for her.

+1frost morningstar,good,bane,favored judgment: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27
damage: 1d8 + 3 + 1d6 + 2d6 ⇒ (8) + 3 + (2) + (2, 3) = 18

Switching to healing judgment which gives her fast healing 2

This time there was a loud crack which Noravia's morningstar connected with Nox and from how the woman staggered under the blow, the inquisitor knew she had hurt her.

With the immediate threat of the dottari neutralized in a puddle of vomit, Elsbeth allowed herself a glance across the room. She could tell that Noravia could use some help. Figuring she had a little bit of time to dispatch the dottari before they stopped puking, Elsbeth called on Milani to provide a spiritual ally for her fellow Raven.

Elsbeth will cast Spiritual Ally to appear near Noravia to help flank Nox.

How many rounds will the dottari be nauseated? Can Elsbeth coup de gras them while they're sick next round?

Can the Spiritual Ally attack this round? It's a standard action to cast the spell

Once the ally of pure force manifested near Noravia, Elsbeth kept motioning people to get through the doors and out of the Opera House.

male

The spiritual ally can attack this round.

The dottari will be nauseated for 8 rounds but you cannot coup de grace because they are not helpless.

I'll give Tillia a little more time as I recap my other game. In any case, I think she wanted to set up her 'ice slide' so I'll go with that if I don't hear from her.

er... I am not as ready to recap as I thought. Being out of town yesterday, I used my work computer to write the turn, which I can retrieve from the google site. However, my 'combat spreadsheet' is in my work computer and I forgot to save it in the gmail 'draft folder'.

Long story short, I will have to recap tomorrow.

Maybe we can get Tillia and Vandomir to post before I recap.

A being that looked similar to Courage Heart, Milani's herald, coalesced behind Nox and the bearded devil. Holding Milani's favored weapon, it attacked the bearded devil.

force morningstar, flank: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 5 + 2 = 15

Looking at the combat map, there is a bearded devil behind Nox so it wouldn't be able to flank Nox but it can flank the bearded devil with Eirik so that's what I'm going with...

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

I also forgot Noravia's second morningstar attack so I'm adding it now - even though the roll has to be spectacular to hit.

2nd attack: 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 5 + 2 = 25

Son of a...soooooooooooooo close :( Unless she gets +2 for flanking :) Oh glorious GM. The cookies are in the mail! I seem to remember Eirik moving to work with Noravia...

Tillia reached the third floor balcony and ran to the shutters to open them so she could start getting people out and then suddenly she realized her mistake. Tillia had forgotten that the shutters were locked when she felt them resist and that she needed a key. At least she had managed to get people to safety for the moment. She moved to the opposite set of stairs and knew that she had to keep the guards from coming up while she went for a key As she reached them she chanted and cast a spell filling that stairwell with thick webbing so that the guards couldn't come up for now. With any luck, she thought, she could entangle the guards at the base of those stairs as well. She turned back to the people who cam up with her and said, "You'll be safe here for the moment, I need to go back down to one of those guards and try to get a key from them. Stay calm and stay here and you will be safe." She looked to the crowd with some hope, "Unless one of you can pick locks or has a key that can unlock the shutters."

This may be more than 1 round worth of actions, if so then this covers this round and at least part of next. The web spell DC is 17 to avoid becoming entangled if the guards at the base of S11 are in the area of webbing.

I would have Vandomir start taking out the guards at S2

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

'Wealthy Father be praised, it actually worked,' Eirik marveled as he spun away from the blinded warrior, her deadly glaive in his his arms. The weight of the weapon was unfamiliar to the monk, too top-heavy compared to the spears he had occasionally sparred with, so it wouldn't make for a good weapon for him. But as long as he held it, Nox wouldn't easily get her hands on it again, and it wasn't like he needed his hands free to fight effectively.

Using the glaive as a distraction, the monk launched into a spinning and weaving assault, focusing on the flow of energy in his body to grant him another burst of preternatural speed. Twisting the Wind into Shake Dew from Branches, into modified Moon on the Water, into Anvil drop. The first circle kick connected in the back of Nox's head, causing her to stumble. The stumble turned into a heavy lurch dangerously close to the edge of the pit when the push kick caught her in the side, just under her lowest rib. The monk then dropped low and used the half of his stolen glaive to sweep one leg from under her. It was a testimony of Nox's skill that she merely dropped to one knee instead of falling down completely, but she was still immobile enough that the high axe kick hit squarely on the top of her head, smashing her mouth shut with an audible crack of breaking teeth, almost making her bite her tongue in half. And when the enraged woman forced her way back up, the Viper Flicks its Tongue caught her in the throat, the very edge of the spear hand strike causing Eirik's Ki-claws to kiss her skin.

I think because there was no bearded devil there at the time so I had her attack Nox. The one you see climbing out of the churning water after her attack.

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia was slightly unnerved by Nox's touch but she was greatly encouraged by the appearance of a spiritual ally because she knew that Milani was with her servant. Focusing on the evil before her, Noravia continued to attack Nox. The inquisitor was determined to beat Nox to death with goodness.

Keep firing at Thrune, now that he is revealed.

His efforts having been wasted before, but now spying the real Thrune, Vandomir stayed on mission...

...but the real man proved much harder to hit than the illusion, and his efforts accomplished nothing.

Noravia's healing judgment should stop the bleeding, right?

Female Human Inquisitor(Infiltrator)/10

Noravia could feel herself weakening under the weight of her injuries. Her relief and satisfaction at Nox's head exploding was short-lived as Thrune made his appearance and attacked Caleb. She watched in horror as her beloved faced Thrune alone. She wanted to help him but she couldn't help him if she was dead. Knowing that the spiritual ally most likely was courtesy of Elsbeth, Noravia practically screamed, "Elsbeth, help against Thrune!"

Then the inquisitor took a step backwards and called on Milani to heal her wounds in addition to her healing judgment.

Noravia will also cast CMW on herself since she's at critical

Elsbeth was just about to bring her morningstar down on another dottari when she heard Noravia's voice ring out. Looking up, the cleric saw Thrune had materialized and was attacking one of the Ravens. Since the dottari would be nauseated for a few rounds still, Elsbeth spoke divine words to cause a searing beam of divine light to shoot out from her palm at the evil man.

ranged touch for searing light: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
damage: 4d8 ⇒ (7, 7, 7, 4) = 25

Forgot the spiritual ally...

Elsbeth knew she couldn't help Noravia from a distance with healing but at least the Spiritual Ally could interpose itself between Noravia and the devils. The cleric directed the being of force to continue bludgeoning the devils.

attack: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
damage: 1d10 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

The spiritual ally will move itself between Noravia and the devil so that she doesn't get attacked again

You're right so I need to discount that damage from her.

I also forgot to add her healing judgment.

Noravia: how much is your healing judgment? Fast healing 2 or 3?

Vandomir: you may have hit more than you think. Can you breakdown your attack numbers for me please?

FYI, you guys realize that Thrune is the last name of the Lord Mayor, right? His real name is Barzillai Thrune.

I'm a little less worried now than I was a few rounds ago but be careful that Brassy has a mean full round melee attack so you don't want to be too close to him. Oh, and there's that bone devil slaughtering citizens...

Questions?

Let's see, breaking down the numbers...

+15 turns out to be wrong, with this "loaner" bow it is +14

That breaks down as:

+8 BAB
+5 DEX
+1 Bow ("my" bow is +2, and thus the discrepancy)

The other mods:

-2 Rapid Shot
+4 vs Human
+1 Point Blank shot (looks like less than 30' to me)
-3 Deadly Aim

She has Fast Healing 2 unless you consider this to fall within her Favored Judgment because it's evil outsiders that are hurting her - then it would be Fast Healing 3

Fabian wrote:

I am aware but I can never remember how to spell his first name and I'm definitely not going to call him Lord Mayor :P

There are a few more bearded devils to deal with before Noravia can turn her attention to the bone devil - but Elsbeth will turn her focus to the bone devil next round.

@Tillia: The group of us, which included Vandomir, never gave the key back to Elsbeth after exploring the lower level. I would assume that Vandomir has the key you're looking for...

Male Human Monk (unchained) 11

Hmm... so it would not be the best idea to stand and fight the Paracount... since we still aren't at the last module one'd think we can't kill him here anyway ;^) So let's try to see if we could at least buy some time... Eirik is ready to scoot at any time now, btw.

Move to melee with the Paracount, try to get his weapon to add to Eirik's collection.

Eirik lowered the hand he had lifted to cover his eyes from the sudden spray of blood and brains as Caleb's spell struck the last blow, with the elegance the monk had come to expect from the mystic's strange magics. The relief was short-lived, though, as what had to be the real Paracount stepped from the shadows of magic to strike back at the mystic.

Cursing at their luck, Eirik nevertheless sprinted towards the new threat, dodging up and over the devil's glaive that sought to bar his way. He shouldered his way past Caleb, reached out his both hands as if to clasp wrists with the Paracount, and spun like a whirlwind, doing his level best to yank the mace from the ruler's hands, hoping disarmament would force the man to step back to reconsider his tactics, giving them the chance to join the exodus.

Disarm: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (18) + 15 = 33

Not quite sure if Eirik can get to Caleb and Brazail the shouth route without provoking AoOs from one of the devils, so here's an acrobatics roll to ignore said AoOs just in case.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 16 ⇒ (14) + 16 = 30

Notice how 'slow' the citizens are at getting out of the place and how many are being killed by the dottari and bone devil.

If the Ravens leave, I'm sure 'Thrune' can use this to deal a heavy blow to the 'movement'. Think redactions and negative PR.

Your game so you do what you want but I just wanted to make you aware of the potential ramifications. There's also the fact that there's whole Opera House waiting to be explored...

Seeing that the guards were still keeping people from using the far stairs, and knowing that the people upstairs couldn't easily be approached, and the fact that Vandomir had dealt with the guards to the stairs down to the lobby, Tillia ran to him and said "I'm taking the key." With that she went to reach into his pocket and grab the skeleton key so she could get the people upstairs out.

You may assume that Vandomir has it. He's really the one that's checking for traps and using disable device anyway.

As Tillia reached into his pocket for the key, Vandomir couldn't help but be aroused, "look, dear, as much as I would love to let you explore trying to find the silly thing, there is no time for that. The key is not in my trousers pocket, it is in the pouch at my belt."

Tillia gave Vandomir an amused look as she changed where her hand went and said, "Spoilsport." Having retrieved the key from his belt pouch she made her way back to the stairway going up to try and reach the shutters once more.

I'll bot Caleb tomorrow if needed.

Stats

No, no, I'm coming

Caleb spun back dizzily, a triumphant smile on his face. 'Finally got the coward to come and fight me'

"Pain!" he shouted, stepping back. Mind searing pain lashed out at THRUNE. The concentrated fear, despair, hate and pain that Caleb had felt for all those years of his childhood, in one full blow.

5ft back. Eirik should give me cover ; Id Insinuation I. DC 18 or confused. 2nd level spell.

Meanwhile the orb continued to roll back and forth over the bone devil and Dottari.
Now I'm mostly looking for the nonlethal and lost actions against the Dottari.

Pity he made the save. Confusing him into fighting Eirik would have been good.
The orb rolled through the Dotarri once more, arced back over the bone devil, and then crashed against the wall of ice and the Dottari who blocked the way.

'Won't stay and fight' Caleb realised. 'Need to raise the city, now.'
"Get him while he's casting" he screamed at Eirik, and turned to look for who in this bedamned place was best able to raise the city against THRUNE.
Looking for well respected people who are here and who were neutral in the fight against THRUNE. Nobles would probably be perfect. Is there a deputy mayor who is being slaughtered, for instance? Captain of the city guard?
Holding standard action for now. But while I remember...

Start in on the bearded devils, starting with the most injured, and adjust fire if the first drops. I switched my FE Bonus to +2 for evil outsiders.

"Disappeared," he thought. Well, there were plenty of other targets that needed destroying. Devils galore. Vandomir unleashed his fury on the devils near his friends...

I take it that Elsbeth is now blocked by the wall of ice?

[dice=aoo with glaive]1d20+3-4

So Brassy stepped 5' away and then cast invisibility and Eirik was holding the mace (not the glaive) so gets no AoO on him.

With regards to people of influence, everyone is still with their masks on and although it seems that this fight is taking forever, we are only on Round 7 so barely 42 seconds have passed.

What is the action for Caleb and what will trigger it?
