Rhianni Verdani |
Rhianni's curiosity keeps her as she goes over to the desk in the study, looking at it she starts to search it. She takes her time to look over the contents of this very nice rom, trying to find out as much as she can about it's owner. Seemingly such a strange room in this place.
Eventually she hears Markum going through more doors and following the sound ends up in the room with the dog hides and the workbench. "Perhaps we can find something that will help us in here?" She goes to look at the workbench.

Varisian Chronicler |
You find nothing to give away the resident of the study room.
In the dusty room northeast of the prison, Rhianni finds a set of keys on the workbench.
Beyond the western door: stone fonts containing frothy dark water sit to the north and south of the eastern entrance to the room, and twin banks of stone pillars run the length of the long chamber. At the western end, shallow stairs rise to a platform about two feet off the ground. The walls surrounding this platform are lit by hanging braziers that emit glowing red smoke, giving the place an unnerving crimson lighting that throws the bas-relief carvings of countless monsters feasting on fleeing humans into lurid display. A black marble altar stone, its surface heaped with ashes and bone fragments, squats before a ten-foot-tall stature. The sculpture depicts a very pregnant but otherwise shapely naked woman who wields a kukri in each taloned hand and has a long reptilian tail, bird-like taloned feet, and snarling head of a three-eyed jackal with a forked tongue. Its left kukri flickers with fiery orange light while the right one glows with a cold blue radiance.
Sharp, deafeaning howls, loud enough to reverberate through the entire floor, cut through the air. From the ceiling, two yeth hounds dart towards Markum.
Everyone roll initiative and two will saves.
Praxim |
I believe Praxim is immune to yeth hound howls due to his Aura of Courage as a third level paladin, but some Will saves just in case...

Rhianni Verdani |
Rhianni starts to speak a poem,
"From out of the sky, the demon dogs fell,
howling their howls of tears,
yet the brave few,
the last of the House Hareth,
stood firm of resolve, all brave and steadfast,
Up went the swords,
up went the spears,
arrows flying straight and true,
hot green blood flowed ,
cascading down from the beasts, a rain of imminent death.
"
ad so the words flowed from Rhianni's lips, heroic and inspiring.
From her back she retrieves the crossbow, and makes ready to fire.

Upon seeing the beasts, she remembers stories she'd heard, can she put the creature in the stories, can she tell her friends anything useful about these creatures that might help. She continues to aid her friends by continuing her inspiring speech.

Round 2
Markum slashes at air, but Vuvo catches one of the hounds legs with a bite and shakes his head violently, tearing off a chunk.
Both monsters continue to after Markum, who easily dodges their attacks, while Rhianni moves into the chapel and tries to recall information about the beasts.
Quinion's footsteps fade as he continue to run away.
Praxim, then Markum.

Rhianni cries out suddenly, "Silver weapons, Silver weapons will hurt these creatures. We need silver weapons." She gets a grip of herself, "I mean, we can hurt them more easily with silver weapons, other weapons don't injure these creatures quite as much as you'd expect. Oh well, take this you nasty dog." as she squeezes the the trigger on her crossbow, sending a bolt flying towards the beast injured by Praxim.
Then almost with a break you her more words from her heroic poem, inspire you all again.

Vuvo and Praxim add to the hound's injuries with effective attacks. The injured hound struggles to keep aloft, looking as if it's about to drop.
Markum is bitten in the leg by one of the hairless canines, which yanks the druid's leg from underneath him, and Markum hits the floor (11 dmg, in prone position, and DC 14 Will save vs fear).
Rhianni fires again and the bolt flies wild.

I've been forgetting the +1 damage from mighty all along. Sorry, folks.
He releases his breath as the hound finally plummets from the air, his arrow protruding from it's open mouth.
Rhianni Verdani |
Rhianni, dropping her useless crossbow, reaches forward to Markum. As she speaks a white light glows and enters the prone man, arming his body. She takes the whip from her belt, ready to use it against the remaining hound.
Cast CLW 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 on Markum

Markum risks getting up and changes his weapon to the silver dagger, hoping it will be more effective against the devil dogs.

Rhianni reaches out to touch Markum, healing him.

The hound continue to his assault on Markum, ripping flesh off his chest and exposing bone underneath (13 dmg + will save vs fear).
Quinion rushes back to the chapel entrance. Picking up weapons will have to wait til next round.
Praxim and Rhianni are up.
Praxim, FYI, the yeth hounds has cover from your attacks in your current position.
Praxim |
So it does...
Praxis drops his bow and draws his sword as he moves past the hound into the room. He'll take an aoo, but will move around to flank with Markum. I'm not sure of the creature's height, so he may not getflanking bonuses.
