Phew. For a while there I thought we were in trouble! He went past Shade like she didn't even exist, but luckily his rolls against Malleck weren't as good.
Also, I like Malleck's new look - it says 'heavily armoured badass comin' thru!'
Malleck of Alerion |
I know. But it seems a bit off to me... i have another hellknight pic i will take later. Besides... Malleck is a Hellknight. Not in class. But in concept

None that i'm aware of, and i play a scythe wielding fighter.
4x crits are so awesome.
GM, if you ever want to run a horror scenario, i can recommend Carnival of Tears. It's one of the scenarios i 'almost' got eviscerated by the latest model of logging-shredder. It's tough, theme-ful and annoying.
Bossfight's no joke either.
Grymp |
My next PFS character, who well start out at GenCon this year will be a scythe wielding Wayang Barbarian. He's doing the whole "Death" thing.
Anyways!
So... with that book 1 is done! Congrats!
It seems I left us with a couple weeks of languishing and slowness due to circumstances, and then a day and a half of a ferocious fight!
If everyone is game to continue on into book 6, let's get you all leveled up to 6, and I will TRY and have the loot posted soon. No promises, this is 4th of July weekend here in the States, and I have tomorrow off.
But Monday if nothing else, so don't go buying anything yet! There is some good stuff in this keep, and I think you've earned it all. ESPECIALLY if you have a couple guys wanting to become Liches and Vampires, you're going to need it!
Grymp |
As an aside, I hope the touch and go aspect of that fight was fun for you guys, it sure was for me.
I didn't want to pull any punches, and I don't believe I did. There was the real prospect of multiple deaths, if not a TPK (as Taeral is more than aware), but like true anti-heroes, you guys stepped up and got it done!
Taeral |
I am here for all the books. I am on vacation for the next two weeks, but I will have my computer with me.
Congratz all on the final fight and level 6.
And yes... I was was very reluctant to step forward in to the reach of Lord Havelyn's weapon.
Malleck of Alerion |
It was a lot of fun , and as i mentioned a couple of times, the extra AC saved my half undead bacon!
as a note, Xeram is right, carnival of tears is one awesome Module.
Grymp |
@Malleck - Ok, let's see, who all have you sacrificed so far?
Lord Thomas Havelyn
Father Donnagin
Should you like, I'll give you credit for Barnabus Eisenbauch, the dwarf leader once you guys "rescue" him from the cells below.
Did you kill the Knight in the training dungeon in a sufficiently sacrificial fashion?
Those are the only ones that come to mind so far, am I missing any?
Xeram |
Our party at the time:
Fighter (me), a cavalier, inquisitor, bard and an oracle.
Not spoilering the boss, but it was a hard fight, surely.
I'm in a lot of games, 3 of which GM'ing, else i might have considered running it.
Malleck of Alerion |
No, i did not kill him like that, that was before we decided what rout to take
No, not missing any. so 3 down, 10 to go.
to the rest : what cruelty should i take?
Vosil Comarenza |
Sickened/Nauseated is INCREDIBLY powerful, if you can pull it off. It will shut down any spellcaster, anywhere.
Grymp |
Any complaints/concerns about GMing style, rulings, etc?
Is the lack of a battle mat a problem? I think the verbal style we've been using gets it done. No problems with spell areas, or flanking for Gertrart. Gertrart's attack rolls are his own problem.
Surely the only complaint can't be my ungodly saving throw rolls, right?
@Mordecai - regarding my crit rolls on the firebolt, remember the great rolls I got when bottling Malevor in the grindylow caves. He too was pleased.
Now if only I could roll like that in home games!
Malleck of Alerion |
Sickened/nauseate it is
Vosil Comarenza |
No complaints - not now we've won, anyway... :-) I was a little concerned that we were being thrown up against the two most powerful NPCs who'd had time to buff themselves up, but it all worked out in the end.
Absence of a map doesn't bother me, I prefer theatre of the mind, anyway.
Malleck of Alerion |
No complaints. Its fun. We have the discussion theead if placing gets a bit out of sync. But so far we have done well with no map
Edit: done with leveling. But will wait to see what kind of goodies we recieved before i update sheet on the site =^^=. Yey! STUFF!

It's fine.
Since we're advancing in lvl...
HP +6 (average +1 con)
BaB +1
All saves +1
+1 lvl 2 a/day
3rd lvl spells!!! 4 a/day
+1 cantrip known
+1 lvl 2 spell known (FCB): Spontaneous Immolation.
1 lvl 3rd spell...
I'm torn between Fireball and Explosive runes.
Malleck of Alerion |
Guess what i prepared this morning......
+1 BaB
+ Cruelty (sickened)
+ 1 Attack.... yey
+ 7 HP
+ 4 skill points
+ 1d6 ToC (3d6 now)
Thats it :P not a very exciting level for me. But 2 attacks now.

"I don't think I could even hit you with my falchion, mage. You are safe," But duly noted :)
hehe. If I have a catchprase to frighten people it wont be as cool a "Am I my brother's keeper?" or "You have failed this city," or "Did you ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?". No, my catchphrase shall be...
"Are you greater than 8?"

Guess what i prepared this morning......
I take this as Malleck's vote for ER, inspiired by OOTS.
I admit, a bunch of orcs standing still next to the lock's graffiti ER to read it, was pretty good.
GM, how much will written documents be addressed in this AP?
I'm trying to weigh off sheer destructive awesomeness against practicality.
Grymp |
I think raw combat damage is likely more useful for this AP. if you want ER, get some scrolls.
Which brings up the following:
Some meta info: you will soon be in a fairly big town (25k gp base), so buying and selling stuff is not going to be a problem. You will soon have a reasonably long amount of "down time" so crafting will not be a problem.
Just wanted to throw that info out there.
Grymp |
Typically you know you need admixture and stuff to switch elements for a spell, and that's still true, but if you wanted to take an alternate element version of a spell as your "norm" then I'm game.
Cold-ball
Aciding hands
Etc.
Some spells with added effects might lose them by doing this, and some are unchangeable because of restrictions on the spell like summon lightning.

So crafting of weapon and armor can happen....
GM id like to retrain my exotic to karana. I lose 2 max damage, but gain a better crit chance?

The template requires my armor be crafted for me. So yes. I can ware the armor from him till my new armor is crafted. Then i need to ware it for a minimum of 2 levels
So i can become a Grave Knight after level 8

Ah. Well. Then can our smith fuse it with adamantium? =^^=
And thanks. Makes it quicker in a way =^^=

FTR I can't do magic arms & armor yet. I should be able to work adamantium though.
Malleck of Alerion |
I understand. Atleast i know u can make me an adamant weapon.
Up to GM to rule if u can carefully work Adamant onto/into the new armor without destroying it =^^= if you cant... ill just have to increase its AC for the amount i would have spent on the Adamant when i can start making magic armor
This is according to the Pfrd:
Weapons, armor and some other items can sometimes be crafted using materials that possess innate special properties. If you make a suit of armor or weapon out of more than one special material, you get the benefit of only the most prevalent material.
So it seems an item can be more than just one material. But still GM call

Grymp |
In a loud booming Asmodean voice: Have you so little faith in the Prince of Darkness already Lord Malleck? We can absolutely come to an arrangement. The RP value of you wearing the dead Paladin's armor seems too much to pass up for me, and the module itself had written in the change in the armor.
In fact, I will meta-divulge my intent to provide each member of the Knot win some form of advancing magic item. Now I'll need to read up on them in PF Unchained but I think the armor of a defeated Paladin and Knight of The Alerion Order is perfect as your advancing item.
What I need to figure out is what to do for the others.
Mordecai's could conceivably be an item from Father Donnagin.
But I'm stuck on what to do for the casters. I'll read up on them.
Oh, and Malleck, how cold-hearted is your character? Willing to sacrifice the one thing he ever loved to get what he wants?
Xeram |
He's right, corrupting what is good is a quirk of being evil.
Anti-paladin in a corrupted armor + graveknight = badass evil tank.
Oh, and Malleck, how cold-hearted is your character? Willing to sacrifice the one thing he ever loved to get what he wants?
*Looks sideways at Malleck*
What would that sole loved thing be? A kitten, a relative, an item?
Because, well, i'd easily see him do it.
Malleck of Alerion |
There are two things that can be offered. 1 of 2. One is not "of my blood" the other is "of my blood" but not loved
