Wizard it is then! That more than works for me - I was concerned for the party, but we'll just have to learn to take our lumps. I do really like Hez as he is, since I feel like he has strong ties to Sandpoint and the campaign themes.
I think I may switch out Charm Person to get Cure light wounds. I think Charm Person fits the character more, but CLW would be more useful for the group.
Am currently reading through the Psionics Expanded pdfs, I might be updating Leiko here with stuff from them, if you allow it? Unsure if you've read them too. Mostly some new archetypes and such.
Edit:
Annnnd...Yeah, let me know if you allow the Psionics Expanded. The Gifted Blade archetype for soul knife looks neat. I lose Psychic Strike, in return for minor manifesting ability starting at level three(Manifestor level is soul knife level -2), and powers from a very small selective list, to power level 4. Looks neat! As does the prestige class for soul knife/Aegis. But just the Archetype alone I'd be happy with. :)
Yeah, don't break the copyrights, lol. I own a gaming publishing company, and a film company. Stuff getting yoinked sucks. It actually costs the company tons. Just write out a simplified description. :)
No problem. Was just figuring it out, since there's a whole table and everything, since you're getting powers. Tempted to buy the other 2 expanded books to see what they got. I do see they got a Psionic healer, would be interesting, but I already play a level 20 mystic theurge in an RL game with 4 gestalt levels of Psion...I've gotten enough spellcasting for the moment. xD Campaign has been running for 6+ years.
I came up with this idea for a bookworm detective type guy. Think he'd be any good in this campaign, Mittean?

Background:
Satinder was raised by his mother, Mathilda, in Magnimar. According to his mother, his father was a member of the Council of Ushers, though she refused to name him and she said he had refused to acknowledge Satinder at his birth. When Satinder came of age, his mother apprenticed him to the Magnimar Watch, where his knack for chemicals and hunger for knowledge landed him in training for investigative work, rather than as a guardsman. With Satinder supporting himself, Mathilda returned to her hometown of Sandpoint to serve as a preistess of Desna under Father Tobyn. Not long after she left, Satinder recieved a missive from Belor Hemlock: The Sandpoint Chapel had burned down, and his mother was one of the victims of the tragedy. Grief-stricken, Satinder buried himself in his studies. He served Magnimar for five years before another message from Sandpoint arrived. Father Zanthus, one of the priests to survive the chapel fire, requested Satinder's prescence at the festival for the concecration of the new chapel, inviting him to honor his mother's memory at her gravesite. So satinder packed a few belongings and made the trip to Sandpoint for the Swallowtail Festival.
Description:
Satinder is tall and thin, with dark hair and dark eyes. His face is harsh and angular, just like his demeanor. While intelligent and well-read, his studies have left him without a good understanding of people. He often seems arrogant and aloof, speaking gruffly and without much humor. His time spent studying forensic science with the Magnimar Watch only helped to reaffirm the cynical nature that began developing with the perceived abandonment by his parents. While he respects the various clergies (having seen great kindnesses performed in the names of this or that deity), he has no use for religion himself.
Give me few hours to come up with something. So far you have a Bard, an Alchemist, and a Wizard, right? Such a very...arcane group. So I should submit a...Magus? Or maybe a trapfinder of some description?
Anything is good. Obviously, mechanics-wise, they could use like the biggest friggin' barbarian we've ever smelt, but I think all will be well if they play smart.
Okay, so for some reason I have a desire to play an Elf-like character after seeing the following image: Elven Barbarian, who runs around stabbing people with a pair of weapons and otherwise being awesome.
The idea is that he feels his rage is not entirely his alone. He has it sure, and it strengthens him, but its not his. As time goes on, the spiritual nature of his rage will grow deeper (Spirit Totem variant). Eventually I see him taking up the Rage Prophet prestige class at a later point.
Keep in mind this is all pretty rought right now, and subject to change (especially since my brain is currently full of Christmas food).
Alright, I've updated her with the Archetype of Gifted Blade.
I lose Psychic Strike, and in return I get, at level 3, began able to Manifest powers from a very small list at manifester level of soul knife level -2. Power points based on wisdom, and I get to 'memorize' them like a cleric. I think this archetype will give me a bit more variety of what a Soul Knife can do. Also, the blade skill, Focused Offensive, allows me while i got psionic focus up, instead of adding my strength to damage, I add wisdom to melee attacks. Will that still work with Double Slice?

SPECIAL ABILITIES

PP: 7
Aberrant Nature: Although human in appearance, elans suffer from a nature slightly off from the rest of the non-elan society. They suffer a -1 penalty to Charisma-based skill checks when dealing with non-elans.
Naturally Psionic: Elans gain the Wild Talent feat as a bonus feat at 1st level. If an elan takes levels in a psionic class, she instead gains the Psionic Talent feat.
Resistance (Su): Elans can use psionic energy to increase their resistance to various forms of attack. As an immediate action, an elan can spend 1 power point to gain a +4 racial bonus on saving throws until the beginning of her next action.
Resilience (Su): When an elan takes damage, he can spend power points to reduce its severity. As an immediate action, he can reduce the damage he is about to take by 2 hit points for every 1 power point he spends.
Repletion (Su): An elan can sustain his body without need of food or water. If he spends 1 power point, an elan does not need to eat or drink for 24 hours.
Psionic Aptitude: When an elan takes a level in a favored class, he can choose to gain an additional power point instead of a hit point or skill point.
Bonus Feat: The soulknife may choose Power Attack, Two-Weapon Fighting, or Weapon Focus (mind blade) as a bonus feat at 1st level.
Form Mind Blade (Su): As a move action, a soulknife can form a semi-solid weapon composed of psychic energy distilled from her own mind.
A soulknife must choose the form of her mind blade at 1st level. She can either form it into a light weapon, a one-handed weapon, or a two-handed weapon. Once chosen, her mind blade stays in this form every time the soulknife forms her mind blade. The light weapon deals 1d6 points of damage, the one-handed weapon deals 1d8 points of damage, and the two-handed weapon deals 2d6 points of damage. All damages are based on a Medium-sized creature wielding Medium-sized weapons; adjust the weapon damage as appropriate for different sized weapons. In all forms, the mind blade has a critical range of 19-20/x2. A soulknife with powerful build or any similar ability forms an appropriately-sized mind blade dealing the size-appropriate amount of damage. If the soulknife's chosen form is a light weapon, she may choose to form two light weapons when forming her mind blade if she so chooses, but she suffers the standard penalties for two-weapon fighting.
Regardless of the weapon form a soulknife has chosen, her mind blade does not have a set damage type. When shaping her weapon and assigning abilities to it, the soulknife chooses whether it will deal bludgeoning, piercing, or slashing damage. The soulknife may change the damage type of an existing mind blade, or may summon a new mind blade with a different damage type, as a full-round action; otherwise, the mind blade retains the last damage type chosen every time it is summoned.
The blade can be broken (it has hardness 10 and 10 hit points); however, a soulknife can simply create another on her next move action. The moment she relinquishes her grip on her blade, it dissipates (unless she intends to throw it; see below). A mind blade is considered a magic weapon for the purpose of overcoming damage reduction and is considered a masterwork weapon.
a soulknife can use feats such as Power Attack or Combat Expertise in conjunction with the mind blade just as if it were a normal weapon. She can also choose her mind blade for feats requiring a specific weapon choice, such as Weapon Focus and Improved Critical. Powers or spells that upgrade weapons can be used on a mind blade. The soulknife can use feats such as Weapon Finesse that work on light weapons with her mind blade, but such feats only work on mind blades in a light weapon form.
Even in places where psionic effects do not normally function (such as within a null psionics field), a soulknife can attempt to sustain her mind blade by making a DC 20 Will save. On a successful save, the soulknife maintains her mind blade for a number of rounds equal to her class level before she needs to check again, although the mind blade is treated for all purposes as a non-magical, masterwork weapon while in a place where psionic effects do not normally function. On an unsuccessful attempt, the mind blade vanishes. As a move action on her turn, the soulknife can attempt a new Will save to rematerialize her mind blade while she remains within the psionics-negating effect. She gains a bonus on Will saves made to maintain or form her mind blade equal to the total enhancement bonus of her mind blade (see below).
The soulknife chooses the appearance of her mind blade, although its shape must reflect the selections the soulknife has chosen: a bludgeoning mind blade would be blunt, slashing would have an edge, etc.
Shape Mind Blade: The soulknife's mind blade retains the last chosen form every time it is formed until the soulknife reshapes it. If the soulknife chooses to reshape her blade, it requires a full-round action to do so. She may also re-assign the type of damage dealt as part of reshaping her mind blade if she so chooses. A soulknife can reassign the ability or abilities she has added to her mind blade; see below. To do so, she must first spend 8 hours in concentration. These cannot be the normal 8 hours used for rest, even if the soulknife does not require sleep. After that period, the mind blade materializes with the new ability or abilities selected by the soulknife.
Throw Mind Blade: All soulknives have some knowledge of how to throw their mind blades, though the range increment varies by form and the largest of blade forms cannot be thrown. Light weapon mind blades have a range increment of 20 ft. One-handed weapon mind blades have a range increment of 15 ft. Two-handed weapon mind blades cannot be thrown without the Two-Handed Throw blade skill. Whether or not the attack hits, a thrown mind blade then dissipates.
Wild Talent: The soulknife gains Wild Talent as a bonus feat at 1st level. This provides her with the psionic power necessary to manifest her mind blade. A character who is already psionic instead gains the Psionic Talent feat.

Okay here is the idea for my two weapon fighter. The background is in the above profile but I figured it wouldn't hurt to post it below so its a little easier to find.
Background:
Toban didn't live in Sandpoint all of his life, just most of it. He was born to a rich family in Magnimar but after his parents mysterious and tragic death he was sent to live with his aunt and uncle in Sandpoint. Before he was shipped off he given his inheritance, 900 gold pieces, but it wasn't to be touched until he turned 18. The rest of his parents money was given to his aunt and uncle to help them handle the burden of raising him.
His life in Sandpoint was a simple one but he soon adjusted to live in the sleepy port town. Things in town were much quieter than what he was used to in Magnimar but his busy home life helped stave off boredom. He now lived with 2 older cousins and 3 younger cousins. The two older cousins were female and were seen as the black sheep of the family, not really getting much attention with the 3 younger ones running around. Adding Toban to the mix didn't help things much but the girls soon found having Toban around had its perks. He would easily provide a distraction so they could go off and do their own thing.
The younger three cousins(all boys) were a handful the say the least and it was Toban's job to help keep them out of trouble. He showed an aptitude for fighting at a very young age and it was all his aunt could to to keep him from fighting with his younger cousins and destroying the house. "BOYS TAKE IT OUTSIDE" could often be heard being shouted from inside the house at many hours of the day.
When Toban was old enough he cashed in his inheritance on a rather fine set of armor and his Nodachi. He showed great skill with large weapons and this caught the attention of the town guard who soon hired him on as a member. He has been working with them for about six years now but, thanks to his older cousins, this wasn't the only job he has held.
His older cousins started making a living as workers at the Pixies Kitten after they were old enough, much to their parents dismay. So soon after Toban had gotten established with the town guard his aunt approached him about taking a job at the Kitten to "keep an eye" on his cousins. There had been a couple of incidents with clients getting a little to rough with them and his aunt wanted to have Toban around to make sure that wouldn't happen. Because his aunt had taken him in, and he saw it as an opprotunity to annoy his older cousins, Toban started working at the Pixies Kitten at night as a bouncer.
Cyric is a little nuts. Always trying his best to not light the world on fire. He knows that it isn't right, but can't understand why. His motivation to run around with other adventurers is the hope that he can put his talents to a good use and to stop him from just destroying things. He is sorta like a magical Dexter. If he has to burn something down, might as well be a goblin hut vs. a the local tavern.
Edit: I see that Hawkes is suddendly playing another Alchemist now, so I guess I am out. Sad. I thought the campaign looked like fun.
I am not automatically against the same classes in a group, Cyric. If you'd like to put in another character concept, I'd love to consider it. I do like your elven crypt breaker, as well, and he is different from Hawkes. but if you want to take a shot at something more martial, or something, go for it. :)
Toban, I'd actually go more for a two-weapon fighter who doesn't carry two handed weapons. It's not his training, his style or what he enjoys. It comes across as a gamer choice, not a character choice.
Aside from that, Toban and Hezekiah, I'd like to invite you both in as well. Head on over to the discussion thread.
Cyric, if you bring it and bring it good, I may take five starters. :)
Psionic fox, Leiko, Gabradon, Thomnus, and anyone else I missed, or anyone else interested, let me know if you want to hold the character on reserve. If we have sickness, deaths in the characters, illness, etc.
You can also e-mail me (in case I miss this thread) at here.
I'm giving to midnight for anyone coming in late, or going for a sudden death shootout victory to get in.
Will do. Half tempted, if I get in, to multi class into Argos, which is same thing as soul knife, but with armor! With customization pointslike summoner evolution points. Fun concept, no need to buy armor/weapons, including a theurge like prestoge class, the Metaforge. Will keep a close eye on this.
Well, if you are still interested in me playing, it still looks like we need a front line fighter. By adding the Ragechemist archtype to my character not only do I become a better front line fighter, but my character starts turing into a bit of a Dr. Jekyl & Mr. Hide. When not under the influence of the mutagen, I am a good rogue type that can take down traps for the party, but under the influence, I become a raging beast that and destroy our enemies. My swapping out the Comprehend Lang in my formulea book, I can pick up Enlarge.
I will join you in the discussion thread. Thanks for choosing me and I look forward to gaming with those who got chosen. To those who didn't get chosen maybe we will game together sometime(especially Morrin since you're applying for 2 more games that I'm in lol)
Yes, we are up and building our parties back-story, and finishing per-production before we start principle gaming. :) I do have you down as an alternate, Cyric. We do hope to have the game kicked off in a day or three.
Okay, email me if I don't respond on here if you find room for me. Just out of curiosity, what was it about my character that didn't make the first cut? This is only my second attempt at joining a PbP [got into the first one] and want to learn from the experience so this doesn't happen again.
I actually really liked a lot of the characters. Yours was very interesting. Mostly, for me, it's my gut. If I felt pbp could move fast enough with more players, I would've taken you, Leiko, Morrin...who knows how many others.
The biggest campaign I ever ran had eight players per group, in three different groups (six in the third, not eight.) I had three DM's under me, and was weaving all of their stories together, and having the parties switch teams, etc. Very Lost. They would even go against each other in situations.
I'd do that here, but pbp is notoriously slow. With twelve people waiting on one person who is gone on a scout trip for three days, then gets sick for two, and his internet is down for another day... that's a week of dead. Which kills the game. :( I am actually working on developing a solution to that through one of my companies (which is part of the reason I decided to run a group, lol).
I welcome you guys to follow the story. I'd love feedback on the style, the story, the rules, everything. Say hello to everyone in the discussion thread, just be respectful and don't post on the story thread. :)
Is this still open? I wanted to try as this would be my 1st official RP ever. I'm new to this and am very interested. I was wondering if I could make a gunslinger dwarf named Gatherine Taboofox.
