Blane continues trying to insert himself into the minotaur's fears, but this time the beast resists. Purnell grazes the enemy with a flask of fire, and Seidr blasts it with more flames from her wand. And then Sucy hits it with still more flammables!
Marcus suffers a vicious bite of the minotaur's axe as he crosses the river, but his own blow cuts the the beast deeply enough to send it fleeing.
Heal up, then let me know what you want to do. There was one tunnel that you skipped earlier.
Seidr Kanzeon |
Seidr will first hasten to Janira as best as she can, still hoping to save her.
Blane Bonesnatcher |
Blane id's going to set hes scorpion on marcus shoulder and give him healing.

Purnel Yull |
"We must finish the caves now. It is what Janira would want."
Purnel examines Janira's crossbow and bolts. "These would have come in handy with that minotaur."
Purnel will take and use her crossbow and bolts
"We must take her body back with us. Seidr, do you have the spell that preserves the body from decay?"
Purnel build a litter with two long sticks and his bedroll. and puts janira's body gently on it. "We will have to take her body with us now too. Animals might get at the body."
Purnel gathers his things and pulls the litter dragging the the other end towards the cave they just exited.
Purnel will feed her the potion he took of cure light wounds from the backpack. CLW potion: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Purnel gathers his things and starts towards the cave they just exited.
Purnel Yull |
"Marcus, your actions were most brave." "Susy, those clay balls were great! You both saved us for sure."
"Seidr, you and Blane were useful as always." Thank you."
"I think we are starting to work well together as a unit."
Can someone heal Marcus more? I think he has a wand.
Sucy Manbavaran |
Blushing slightly, Sucy bows towards Purnel.
"If we can learn how to work better together, then we should be able to accomplish more than expected. On the other hand, we need to heal up after helping out Janira."
I can use the wands, I just don't have one yet, so roll the healing needed.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler |
Marcus rushes over to Janira hoping she's still alive. He stands over her, unsure of what to do and just looks on as others assess her state. He somewhat blindly accepts Purnell's healing and it takes a moment for him to recognize his praise as he is still recovering from the exhaustion of his... tantrum?
"Ah um... hrmm... Is she alright? Oh uh..."
He slowly collects regains his composure and shifts back into human form. "Thanks... I suppose my temper got the better of me but sometimes that's just what the situation calls for. So uh... about Janira... will she live?"
Sucy Manbavaran |
"We did, I think, but perhaps made him a tad angry. He seemed less than amused when we tried to talk to him, asking about the area. Some remarks may have been said..."
Sucy blushes slightly as she helps the halfling woman to her feet.
Seidr Kanzeon |
Seidr lets out a sigh of relief. I thought we had lost you. You should not have been the one to suffer such wounds on our behalf.
Oh, the gillmen. We met one, but we weren't able to gain his assistance. We hope that by driving out the other creatures in the tunnels we can get a second chance at convincing him, or possibly find another one.
Purnel Yull |
"Thank heavens you are not dead." "That was a close one." "Do you feel well enough to accompany us as we finish up our mission inside."
"I was hoping to catch the gillman we meet as he leaves. I think part of the problem was we were invading his private religious practices and in a holy area."
"Anyway, we must finish up." "Are you able to help with anything?" "Not that you must right now recovering and all." "But, we found writings that I have copied that none of us could decipher." "Perhaps, you are allowed to aid with them?"
Purnel supports Janira helping her to cross to the cave.
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler |
"Mmmyess... wonderful to see you... hmm... fully ambulatory. A wonder you were able to hold your own for so long against that creature. It packs quite a punch indeed. I do not believe we have quite finished our task at hand and would like to head back into the cave. Would you care to join us?"
Blane Bonesnatcher |
"glad to see you in one piece my lady.... Shame i couldn't add you bones to my robe or pack...... anyways shall we continue our mission here im getting all-out of good notes about this place and for my journal. "

The damp air becomes increasingly stale, and the stench of decay grows as you travel down this tunnel. The passage turns east and opens into a small cavern littered with bits of broken glass, rotting pieces of paper and other unusable detritus. The body of a male humanoid lies facedown toward the back.
But before you can check on him or search the room, several creatures lunge out of the shadows.
EVerybody is up.
Seidr Kanzeon |
Seidr moves up to cover Marcus's flank with a blast of fire.

Marcus swings at the skeleton, but his blade slides right through the empty air between ribs. Seidr completely chars the skeleton, but the rotting corpse seems made of sturdier stuff, while Sucy closes in with her crossbow, and Blane retreats to safety. Purnell's spear goes right through the corpse with no effect, and the hole closes up with a squelch.
The zombies slam into Purnell and Seidr hard, while the skeleton rakes its claws feebly at Marcus.
Everybody is up.

Can I shift this to the zombie if I see the skeleton crumble??? If on table top I would strike and see the result and shift to the next target. I would loose the flank bonus though.
"Die again abomination of nature!"
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler |
Seeing Purnel join the fray, Marcus holds his position long enough to give Purnel a tactical advantage, then steps back to cover the attack against Sucy. He begins to work at the undead mob with tooth and blade.
Full attack (Sword/Bite), start with purple, if purple is already dead or dies after the first attack, 5 ft step to yellow and continue. If purple doesn't die, 5 ft step to yellow at the end of the attack anyways.

@Purnell: Yes, and I generally do the redirect automatically.
- Seidr - 4 damage
- Sucy - 1 damage
- Purnell - 8 damage
- Marcus - 2 damage
Seidr takes out the zombie with another wave of her wand, then quickly heals some of her own wounds. Sucy hits the other corpse with her crossbow, but the bolt sinks in and doesn't do as much damage as expected. Reassured by her hit, Blane draws his own crossbow, while Purnell nonchalantly bludgeons both creatures into inanimate flesh and bones.
Heal up, and let me know what/how you want to search.
Seidr Kanzeon |
Seidr will first approach the other body in the room. She assumes they have passed on, but they haven't arisen as a Mockery, so there is a chance they cling to life.
Sucy Manbavaran |
Sucy, being The alchemist she is, will help examine the body of the supposedly dead creatures, including the one that the group didn't fight.

Envy.
Their bodies are animated by a horrible envy of true life, which drives them to extinguish it wherever they can. Pity them, and pity those who would seek out such emptiness, but be wary of the gaping void within.
Purnel Yull |
"Where did that other potion of curing from the backpack go. I would gratefully take a swig of it now. That slam from the walking corpse hurt."
"Susy, do you have the other potion?"
Purnel makes his way after Susy to the non-animated body and looks it over.

Then he will look around on the floor of the chamber and walls for anything out of the ordinary.

GM Granta |
The body is most definitely a corpse, and something odd about the skin tone suggests it was this pale even in life. As the features are also a little odd, you suspect he wasn't a full human. On his body, you find a ring and amulet that both radiate magic, as well as a journal detailing his efforts to make an army of undead out of the "fish people".
The rest of the room is empty, although Purnell finds a secret passage heading toward the surface.
Seidr Kanzeon |
If his soul should one day be freed from its destination, perhaps he will make better choices.
Seidr picks up the ring and amulet, Can anyone identify these? Regardless, perhaps we should return to the gillman, politely and without attempted mind magics. He may be glad to learn that a necromancer preying on his folk has been slain.
Blane Bonesnatcher |
"i can try to identify those.... and i will keep my mind to myself this time. "
blane will move over and grab the ring and amulet.

Marcus Vulpares Fantailler |
"Hrmph. Best to just kill all zombies. Nothing of the original person remains, and they are quite ugly. I don't think even Shelyn can find beauty in those abominations."
He pokes each of the undead with his sword once more just to be sure. "It's a pity Janira didn't wish to join us though... Her loss though. I'll make sure that my full report is detailed enough that she'll think she was there."
As his allies search the room, Marcus pulls out his scrivener's kit and adds a new entry to his report.
Thumbing through the journal a look of revulsion crosses his face. "Ok... well maybe I'll just make a footnote reference to this journal... It is rather morbid. If anyone is really concerned with its contents they can peruse the offending volume themselves."
Purnel Yull |
"Fish people?" "Was this guy just really bad at using 'code phases' and trying to disguise his deeds..." "That might help explain why he is on the floor dead..." "Or was he just that careless about the identity of his victims that he could not even be bothered to get his species right?"
Purnel snorts... "Well, either way, good riddance!"
"Lets see if we can find that gillman, apologize, and make amends."
Marcus Vulpares Fantailler |
"There are many types of people that resemble aquatic creatures. There are Nagaji, Sahaugin, Merfolk, Gillmen, Undine... Simply calling them fishmen is quite an insult. As if they cannot see their differences. I'll admit I'm not adept in discerning what is what, but to lump them all into such a category shows a lack of appreciation for the subtle and distinct differences in their form. Shelyn would be appalled at such description... No surprise that someone who would call them as such is a necromancer. Lack of character through and through. Hrmmph."
Somewhere in the middle of that diatribe Marcus must have gotten a bit angry because he appears to have shifted to vulpine form without realizing. He sighs, finishes his log entry and hops to his feet. "Yeah, let's try to make amends with the Gillman. If he's still upset I'll just sit far back and sketch a brief map of the room for our report."
