Regarding pre-game RP, what's the meeting point setting? Or are we to wing it?

GM Granta |
I've got several ooc things to say, so posting here instead of cluttering gameplay:
- Everybody except Anduris is paying 1 PP for the spell.
- The 1 PP includes Sahba, as it is a mass version of the spell.
- You don't get extra crystals for Sahba, though. Similar to a potion, it would take a full-round action instead of a standard to administer to another creature. I'm also going to say it requires a "push", as chewing for 1 minute without swallowing is unnatural for a velociraptor.
- There are vendors for last minute purchases, within reason. I don't think some guy is going to have a 36,000 gp headband of inspired wisdom +6 on his rickety, one horse cart.
Hamith |
I have updated Hamith to include a 'bot me' spoiler in case I fall behind, and yesterday I included his last chronicles received from this past weekend, bringing him to level 4.
GM Granta |
Please pay attention to the "Gravity" line in the initiative blocks. It affects how high you can jump, how much you can lift, projectile ranges, and falling damage.
For the first combat, it is at 1/5 normal. That means your jumping, lifting and projectile ranges are x5, and falling damage is reduced. But you won't actually realize all of this until AFTER your first attempt to do one of these actions.
Conversely, if gravity is doubled, all of the above numbers would get cut in half, and falling damage would increase.
Graxzos Glyphkeeper |
Purchases (don't want to clutter up gameplay):
11 doses black powder (11 gp)
11 regular bullets (1 gp 1 sp)
6 regular paper cartridges (72 gp)
TOTAL: 84 gp 1 sp
Also using 2 PP to get a wand of CLW

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
Hey all, GM Hmm here. There’s been a crazy site outage going on for most Paizo users. For some reason I can get in while connected to mobile, so I’m just letting you know what is going on. Your GMs are trying to get back in and will post as soon as they are able.
Thanks for your patience!

Flank (DC20): You can instruct an animal to attack a foe you point to and always attempt to be adjacent to (and threatening) that foe. If you or an ally is also threatening the foe, the animal attempts to flank the foe, if possible. It always takes attacks of opportunity. The animal must know the attack trick before it can learn this trick.
@Darvan: It is right in the text of the trick. Also, keep in mind that Flank is a variation of Attack, which requires the companion to move directly to the closest square.
Darvan Moll |
Ah, I read the italicized portion to mean that, if someone the companion is threatening provokes, it would always use that opportunity to attack. I would have expected it to say "it always provokes attacks of opportunity", since that's the language that is used elsewhere. Either way, if your judgement is that Sahba provokes, so be it.
GM Granta |
First, note that there is no illumination in the area. You need to provide your own light sources, and it is possible to get separated from each other. You don't have to worry about the cold, since everybody bought the planetary adaptation.
Success requires one person to succeed at two Climb or Survival checks. Each check takes 5 minutes, or 10 minutes upon failure (you get lost and double back).
The tunnels are slick, and moving faster than half speed requires an Acrobatics check. You fall prone on a failure, and slide toward one of the chasms on a big failure. You get a Reflex save to catch yourself, or else fall into the chasm.
Additionally, there is a haunt that appears every five minutes. Since the oracle warned you about it, you may buff up against fear and mind-affecting stuff before hand. If you fail the Will save against it, you become panicked for 1 round and flee at full speed (see above). I don't think anybody has channel energy, so I'm going to skip initiative and attempts to actually fight it.
---------
So, what does all that mean?
- One person needs to roll Climb or Survival, others can aid.
- Everybody needs to make a Will save vs. fear, mind-affecting.
- Everybody should roll Acrobatics.
- Everybody should roll Reflex.
- Everybody should roll Climb.
Please make your rolls in exactly this order:
Climb/Survival: 1d20 ⇒ 6 (include "aid" if aiding)
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 6
Acrobatics: 1d20 ⇒ 12
Reflex: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Climb: 1d20 ⇒ 13
Then please repeat that dice block 3 more times, so that I have enough information to narrate two successes and one failure if necessary.
Hamith |
Hamith is immune to fear. Does this mean I can simply aid on climb or survival and not roll the other checks?
Also, everyone remember Hamith has the Aura of Courage class ability, +4 to saves vs. fear if within 10 ft. of him.
GM Hmm |
Hey Gang, Granta's not feeling well. I'm sending in Gayel Nord to serve as your backup GM for 2-3 days. Granta will be back before you know it.
Hmm
GM Granta |
Thank you, Hmm and Gayel :-)
I have heat exhaustion, and it's a lot more draining in real life than in Pathfinder. I don't even have the mental energy to watch a movie without taking a nap.
The good news is that two days of rest and lots of water is all its supposed to take to recover, so I'll hopefully be back on Tuesday.
The "wild" Babe |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |
(gayel nord, on mobile.)
Anduris, your heal wasn't high enough. DC 15.
You are welcome Granta. Your format is a Good one.

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
Hello Cosmonauts!
The lovely staff at Paizo gave me 15 ten-dollar gift certificates to distribute across the Cosmic Captive Special. Alas, we have 25 tables, so not every table can win one. In order to pick winners, I’m hosting a Cosmic Giveaway!
The Rules:
You cannot nominate yourself. You cannot pick me. Pick someone else (fellow player, GM, backup GM) who made your experience of Cosmic Captive fun! Tell me why!
You can submit only one name, but you can make a submission on the above link from now until July 9th.
Some names will likely get chosen because of the stories you tell me. Some may get selected in a random lottery. I’ll try to spread the love around to as many different tables as I can.
Hugs,
Hmm
GM Granta |
We are moving forward tomorrow morning. If actions aren't posted by then, they will be lost and the encounter deemed a failure.
@Hamith: I can't tell you how well the alchemist's fire works until you roll damage.
@Darvan: You successfully chipped away a couple ounces of ice. 9,999 tons to go.
@Amelia: That would require resist energy or protection from energy.
Darvan Moll |
Personally, I wasn't particularly keen on posting a ton of actions until I knew what was most likely to be helpful, and didn't expect it to take two days to get a response.
Also, Hamith has rolled damage - please update the thread with the results.
Hamith |
I vote wrath. Seems the simplest option than debating who gets what magic items.

/Amelia Rose/ |
That would be ok.. but we do have two of us that still have con damage from the vampiric mist. I thing that we could really benefit from the wrath wish, but I couldn't in good conscience choose that over healing everyone up.
GM, is the wrath some type of rage power? and if we go that route, how will it affect the spellcasters?
Graxzos Glyphkeeper |
I'm back. Sorry, all--an illness laid me out, and then I had to deal with all the work that piled up during the illness. I will catch up as fast as I can and post again.
Graxzos Glyphkeeper |
It sounds like the majority of us are leaning toward wrath, which is where I'm leaning as well...if those suffering CON damage are ok with it, I'd say let's go with that.
Gonna go ahead and post an action to get myself back in the swing of things, in the meantime!
GM Granta |
Each move action requires its own Climb check, and nobody has a 60 ft. base speed (or declared a fast climb), so that means at least two Climb checks for everybody. Three checks if you have a base speed of 20 ft.
@Anibal: Catching a falling character requires a touch attack followed by a Climb check, and cannot exceed your heavy load. Hamith would easily put you over that weight, which means that success would just cause you to fall with him. Since you have Climb trained, we'll assume your character knows all that and doesn't needlessly risk his own neck.
@Darvan: If the fall was high enough to cause lethal damage, I would say that requires a "push". As it stands, "come" would work.
Anduris Kreel |
Oh sorry thought we were on round 2. I think I am climbing for 3 rounds right?
/Amelia Rose/ |
I am going home for a couple hours of sleep before I have to drive across the state later this afternoon. Depending on my exhaustion tonight I may not be able to post so please bot me if you need to move things along.

★ - OVERSEER ANNOUNCEMENT - ★
The Winners for the Cosmic Giveaway have been announced!
Graxzos Glyphkeeper |
2 quick questions:
What exactly is the puzzle orb? I don't see it referenced in the text (I might have missed it), unless it's the floating polyhedron itself.
Would Graxzos's Utility Shot deed be of any use here (specifically the blast lock ability)? I'm assuming no since it's not a mechanical lock, but thought I'd check.
Hamith |
Hamith will target the outermost healing ring. I'm not sure where that is exactly, so if you could move me adjacent to it, that would be great.
