Hold a moment, don't items like those above adjust to fit any size wearer? Because I sure wouldn't mind claiming that ring of protection.

King of Goblins *MAP*

You certainly may. I didn't see that you didn't have one already. Rings fit the wearer. You get 1600 gp, instead of 2600, and keep the ring.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Cool. Thanks!

Sovereign Court

Hang on, shouldn't my rogue be the one hijacking party funds from outside the gameplay thread all ninja-like :P

King of Goblins *MAP*

You can if you want. It's found treasure.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Sure. If there's something you could use in that pile, Andrew, just take it. I don't care.

King of Goblins *MAP*

I generally run "abstract loot" for this game; meaning that when you level, you automatically get your new WBL.

You killed an iconic, so you got his stuff. I normally don't worry about treasure, because this is a rather absurd and comical game, but to play it, you need enough goodies to keep going. It's just in the background. When you hit 9th, that's your budget. Do what thou wilt.

Some people really love special magical items with interesting backstories. They can be fascinating. Goblins don't get into that, from what I've seen.

King of Goblins *MAP*

My 20th level arcane trickster has this blade:

Rapier "Hornet"; Agile, Spell Storing, Adamantine +5 (75,320)

The queen of Kyonin gave it to him, in payment for some awesome sh*t he did to save her @$$. It has a rich history. It wasn't even made on Golarion. He got it at 16th.

He would care about having a cool weapon with a grand history. It fits the character.

Goblins rarely live more than 20 years.

Sovereign Court

I'm just joking around, giving you grief, nothing of interest I don't already have.

Never read Goblin when you just woke up. I translated this as "If we don't find anything, we'll kill Bucko for a surprise cooking in my magic pot."

I am assuming that I do not have to see the giants to rain down on them....

also assuming I need to wait my turn before posting damage...

King of Goblins *MAP*

No. They could move, though. They go before you. You go last.

You should always wait your turn. Your mates might kill 'em all before you even go. Save a spell!

I play a witch in a tabletop game, and he's powerful. I didn't optimize. It's not me, it's the class. You'd have to be a terrible player to build a crappy witch. They always have something brewing...

King of Goblins *MAP*

This trip to Brinestump will be pretty random, and pretty hard, so I can gauge how tough this new party is.

It's just gonna be mountains, then marshes and swamps and such.

Preserve your mounts. You won't find suitable replacements on this trip.

This is your chance to get funny. You have 2 weeks of this, in game time. You're sure to hit 9th.

The original party lasted because it was funny. We keep the atrocities at PG 13, or so.

Other races see you as something easy to kill. You've proven them wrong, so far.

Goblin organ theft division, when you wake up your organs are missing!!!!

Click on *Map*. Then, click on the square you moved to, and type your name. Then, click on the square you were in and delete.

Low-budget, but that's how I roll. Don't let the fact that the squares are actually rectangles bother you.

You should have really messed with us and said the each rectangle is 5x10, and we need to left or right align to designate which 5x5 space we're in!!

What does a "cool point" do? Is it simply a hero point with a different name or what?

I think that is the point of it, though it is a little better in allowing a re-roll of a botch.

Yeah. You get one re-roll of your choice.

I'm pretty sure only GMs can make things inactive.

So that's probably bad news.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Yeah, hazarding a guess here, I'd wager that Goblin King was not pleased at the fact there was no posting going on and so he just decided to kill it.

Which, I'm not sure why one would instantly shut the game down because of it instead of saying something in the discussion thread.

But even if that is the case, it is a holiday week for crying out loud. Most folks are just not gonna be around due to that.

But, like I said, simply a guess. And I base that off of when he posted about looking for a replacement for Reta on one day in the discussion thread, after I just posted in there the previous night.

But I could be wrong.

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

Folks, I'm gonna have to bow out of this one. I just can't get into the character. Not sure why seeing how Reta's one of my favorites. But it's become a struggle for me and when that happens, that doesn't make it real fun.

I do apologize for this. I wish it wasn't so, Reta's always been a blast to play and I hate doing this to you all. But if I'm dragging then that means I would wind up dragging this game down and that's not fair to you fine folks.

Again, sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

King of Goblins *MAP*

Sorry you feel that way. I think I'm burned out, too. There's only so much you can do with goblins.

I am still hoping one day for a goblin based AP.

I would love to play Bucko through something like kingmaker.
The goal of creating a stable goblin kingdom.

Any chance our DM might consider a campaign where most of the heavy lifting has been done.

Heck jump us straight into book 2 or 3!

What about an AP? What if we were all a bit more civil?

Maybe less story and we travel around killing more and bigger things?

Taken as drow prisoners because we were all so full of giant we didn't post a watch for the night?

So if anyone wants to help me flesh out Kingmaker goblin edition it is a thread in the Kingmaker section of these boards.

One of my main concerns is kingdom building and the RAW. Will need either tweqking or DM fiat....kingdom grows in spit of what the rulers are doing....

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

That's the thing with goblins. If you play them true to form, they can't really run in any AP. They're just not "orderly" enough. Because goblins don't care to be. They're just too chaotic. And if you play a goblin with "order" to it, then what's the point of even playing one? If you decided to play a goblin with tactics and planning and such, then you're not really playing a goblin. You might as well be playing a core race.

And I get there's always the "Drizzt" goblin out there and that's fine, but a whole party of them? That's just lame.

I would think it'd be near impossible to run any type of lengthy campaign to where you actually have to accomplish something if you're playing goblins.

It's one thing to have ONE goblin within a party as part of an AP - or any type of adventure that requires you to accomplish something grand - but it's another to have an entire group of goblins out to build a kingdom(or whatever the case may be). I totally can't see goblins doing that.

But this is strictly nothing more than my meager 2 cents on the matter. You can keep the change, I'd just spend it on something frivolous anyway. :)

male Goblin Witch / 8 // Init +6/ HP 49/49 // AC: 22/T:20/FF:15 - Percep: +7// F +3/R +8/W +6 /CMB +0 - CMD 13/ Speed 30

Any ideas on what to do with a bunch of goblins???

Most AP's I agree are out of consideration My hope was that if one modified Kingmaker to the point that each PC represented the smaller monsters, then you could have one kobold, one mite, and one goblin who are all plotting to become chiefs of their respective tribes, and to rule their own kingdom!!!

KM already has a tribe of kobolds and mites in proximity to one another, throwing in the goblins from We be Goblins. And possibly a fourth small race in the alliance...ratfolk I am thinking.

Kingdom building will be chaotic and stability rolls will all be DM fiat.....the kingdom will grow in spite of the goblins activities and in some cases because of them!

Anti-heroes archetype!!!

Male Humanly Awesome 'n Totally Rockin' Paladin of Greatness

I really don't have a clue as to what to do with a bunch of goblins.

The only thing about KM is it would take a considerable effort on the DM to adjust the AP for goblins. That really seems like a lot of work. I know I wouldn't have the energy for it. :P

I disagree with the notion that a party of goblins who learn to be (somewhat) organized would automatically be hard against type -- a lot of chaotic creatures have developed pack tactics, after all.

That doesn't mean that I think you could have an organized goblin army -- (although, swarm tactics and the like would work). A small group who've survived fighting alongside each other could certainly get better at it and learn to react to each other's normal moves -- to be chaotic together.

I do agree, however, with the thought that a group of goblins can't really play a traditional AP -- because they'd be far, far more likely to loot and tear apart the place -- depending on who/what the bad guys are, they might even decide to tear it apart to loot the place and then try (and likely fail) to take over/control it.

... which is why a survival sort of thing would work -- getting sucked into an outer plane, shipwrecked on an island (which could end up with a kingmaker-like sort of thing) -- or, for that matter, trying to take over other tribes.

Another possibility is, given the power-level of the goblins, would be for them to be "wreckers for hire" -- mercenaries, of a sort, taken missions where they're basically dropped in *to* wreck and loot the place.

Of course, at the same time, Velag's NE, not CE -- he *is* a little off-type (in a lot of crazy ways). Not the whole, "Hey look, a party of good-aligned goblins" thing, but in the "worship a different god, slightly more ordered, might want to actually build something" sort of way.

male Goblin Witch / 8 // Init +6/ HP 49/49 // AC: 22/T:20/FF:15 - Percep: +7// F +3/R +8/W +6 /CMB +0 - CMD 13/ Speed 30

Island based kingmaker might work. Start with the three goblin modules and the existing ship wreck could push the goblins to the sandbox of an island.....

Wrecker for hire is an idea.
Maybe a goblin kingdom is more like the mafia. They demand money for you to be allowed there and protection money as ongoing tribute. Sounds like taxes to me....

As rulers they would still be asked (although differently) to do tasks...
lots of changes in store....

Bucko is TN his experience is that humans are arrogant scrum, but they have uses...beyond eating.

All of the goblins have evolved through out this...

Liberty's Edge

Ok so I am officially doing the goblin/kobold/mite/ratfolk kingmaker.....

Sorry lads but I offered the goblin slot to GM Goblin king for the 2.5 games he has DMed for us. I also gave away the kobold slot.

Anyone who wants to read more about what I am looking for and thinking can just click on this avatar.

If you would, GK, go ahead and make this one inactive for me. Thanks.

And you guys keep rockin'. You folks are some solid posters. I'm just sorry I had nothing solid to contribute to this.

Good seeing you again, Tilnar. Still liked that Carrion Crown game we were in so many years ago(Geez, I just checked that. My gosh has it really been 4 years ago? Where the heck does time go). I always thought that was a good group.

Peace out, folks.

Think it'll be inactive for us all, Javell.

Who knows, maybe we'll fall into another game. :)

King of Goblins *MAP*

It was fun when it worked. There were many Kodak moments in Goblins 2.

I wanted to resurrect this, out of nostalgia. Goblins just don't work so well when you need a quest to drive you. I couldn't discover one that made sense. Goblins wouldn't give a f*ck.

I'll turn out the lights, now.

King of Goblins *MAP*
