Looking to see if anyone is interested in playing We Be Goblins which will then lead into Jade Regent. The players would be keeping their goblin characters from We Be Goblins to play in Jade Regent.
I am looking for five players, each to take on the normal roles: Tank, healer, controller, trap-monkey and range.
If there is interest, I will start recruiting.

I predict that this thread will soon be swamped with people expressing their interest to participate... And I'm one of them!
I've often thought that it would be intriguing to have the goblin characters from We Be Goblins carry over into Jade Regent - I'm really interested to see how that could work out.
I'd be willing to take on any role as needed.
Tierce |
Well then Max, taking your advice, I will start recruitment now and see what comes in.
Character Creation Rules:
20 Point Buy
Race: Goblin
Max HP at level 1
Gold - 150 for each class (but keep equipment within the realm of what a goblin would have)
2 Traits (any that you like, you will receive your Jade Regent trait for free)
Allowed Material: Anything from Pathfinder
Notes for Application - tell me which role you are applying for. Backgrounds are optional, but are encouraged.
As this is a goblin campaign, please feel free to act like goblins. It will have a lighthearted silly feel to it
Recruitment will close on May 22nd at 11:59pm

I have definite interest. I have no idea what I'm playing yet, but I generally tilt toward highly skilled characters with social skills. My guess is I'll be one of the following: bard, rogue, witch, or wizard. As for the witch and wizard, I'd show more favor to utility spells than offensive magic. I'll figure out exactly what kind of character I'll be posting tonight, since I don't have a lot of time to think at the moment.
Edit: Just came to me a second ago. A pyromaniacal goblin alchemist. Not sure about the name yet, but something with "boom" in it. :)
Tierce |
Hey, Mierra Jayde. It's great to see you GMing, too. I'll go for the skill-monkey role. My guy will be a little sharper than average due to his hobgoblin heritage.
Been a GM since D&D was advanced and had a second edition to it, hehe. In fact, besides the online campaigns I have just joined (yours included!), I haven't been a PC for nearly five years. Been nice to play so far in the online campaigns!
Morat |
Here's Jacob's character submission! I left the backstory short and simple because I don't know what kinds of details you would like to see included. If you can give me some guidelines, I'll add more detail.
Morat is a natural explorer and adventurer, and he places value on preparedness and smarts rather than strength or skill. He is unusually stable for a goblin, due to his hobgoblin upbringing, although when he gets excited, he reverts back to instinct.

What you have is great, shows how your part of the licktoad tribe and a bit of your family and how you view the world.
As for the submission, still need to see traits, feats and skills, and any additional equipment that you want to take with you.

I'd like to go with Gutspiller Toadslime, witch of the Elements patron with a toad companion/familiar. She'll go for a Controller spot.

Gutspiller Toadslime is an honored place within the Licktoad tribe for her magical powers (particularly those able to start fires). As rightly befitting one of the Licktoad tribe, it was a toad that called to her as a goblin child all of two years ago when she was walking on the beach. Entranced by the creature, she licked its back - and had her first communion with the creature and its patron.
More recently, she found a little green bottle in the surf while once again scavenging the shore. When she opened the bottle and tasted it, she fell unconscious for hours. Immediately catching onto the potential such a substance offered, she hid the bottle in her hut and has used it only sparingly ever since to take her revenge for the most egregious slights against her - typically male goblins who assume they can take her as "wife".
Alphonse Treesplitter |
Fatmouth "Alphonse" Treesplitter is a descendant of the fabled goblin lord Axey Powerhouse, who claimed the family name of Treesplitter by chopping down a hundred trees and four treants with his axe all in one day. Treesplitter is very aware of his heritage, and it shames him deeply. He has always had a deep fondness for nature.
He prefers the name Alphonse, as it is the name of the half-orc who showed him the path of the Druid.
He met his animal companion while very, very drunk. He named it "Gecko". Once sobering up, he realized that Gecko is, in fact, a dinosaur. Regrettably, despite all attempts to teach it otherwise, it only replies to Gecko.

Unlike normal animals of its kind, an animal companion's Hit Dice, abilities, skills, and feats advance as the druid advances in level. If a character receives an animal companion from more than one source, her effective druid levels stack for the purposes of determining the statistics and abilities of the companion. Most animal companions increase in size when their druid reaches 4th or 7th level, depending on the companion. If a druid releases her companion from service, she may gain a new one by performing a ceremony requiring 24 uninterrupted hours of prayer in the environment where the new companion typically lives. This ceremony can also replace an animal companion that has perished.
The typical domestic animal has a starting attitude of indifferent, while wild animals are usually unfriendly.
To use wild empathy, the druid and the animal must be able to study each other, which means that they must be within 30 feet of one another under normal conditions. Generally, influencing an animal in this way takes 1 minute but, as with influencing people, it might take more or less time.
A druid can also use this ability to influence a magical beast with an Intelligence score of 1 or 2, but she takes a –4 penalty on the check.
A saurian shaman can use wild empathy with dinosaurs and reptiles as a full-round action with a +4 bonus.

Gutspiller licked her toad familiar, named Toad in truly original goblin creativity. She stared vacantly ahead for a moment, her eyelids flickering, before looking up.
Posing in what a gobliness considered demurely, she cooed - more of a phlegmy gurgle, really - at Tierce, "I can heal, too, dearie." With a sudden glint in her eye, she smiled in an almost feral manner, "Want me to show you?"
Rumple Stickskin |
So he's no longer ranged, he's a goblin cavalier of the sword, or in this case of the 'sticker' (lance). Still fleshing out this alias, he's going under the 'tank' category, which he actually fills fairly well with 22 AC at first level.
EDIT: Is there any chance we can have Common as a bonus language if we're going to be progressing beyond WBG? Rumple isn't the smartest bite mark on the rock, if you know what I mean, but it'd be cool if he could communicate with people.

I would enjoy making a ranged ranger, probably have a riding dog animal companion, take some mounted feats, o this could be fun =D.
I'm gonna sit back and read goblins of goralon and come up with a fun back story and get a crunch to you. It will be up long before the 22nd.
Goblins are terrified of dogs, man. Maybe you could find a modified Goblin Dog animal companion that Tierce might allow, it would make sense for a Goblin Ranger.

In the interest of clarity:
Sticker means Lance
Deathring means Chakram
I've written Rumple up as a "Rider", which is just my way of saying Gendarme (Cavalier archetype focused on mounted combat) without sounding pretentious and non-gobliny.
There will likely be other, goblinesque names for various abilities such as Challenge, or order powers. I just wanted to make sure there was no confusion regarding what stuff means.

Ah goblin dog is what I meant, riding dogs aren't even on the list. And yes Tierce would having a goblin dog be out of the question? I believe there are stats for them as animal companions on d20pfsrd.com. I can dig up a link for you if need be.
The Lobster |
Goblins make for wonderful mounted combatants, +4 dex and a +4 racial bonus on ride, plus they're small so you can go in dungeons etc.
And they get to ride wolves.
Is that really a good idea to have a canid mount? Their hatred for dogs (and horses) is so much that the go-to weapon they have is a "dogslicer". I'm not trying to criticize your character, I just don't think the rest of the party (IC) is going to be particularly fond of that choice.
Rumple Stickskin |
Well, goblins clearly like being cavaliers (they have a written in favored class bonus), and the only options for a small cavalier barring DM fiat are pony and wolf until level 4. I figured that a wolf is better than a pony :P
I always took the goblins' hatred of dogs to be more specific to domesticated ones. They still have goblin dogs and stuff. Anyhow, Rumple will only be using the wolf until level 4 when he can have a tyrannosaurus.

I'll give you that. A wolf is better than a pony. By far.

Also, right here on the SRD:
Organization gang (4–9), warband (10–16 with goblin dog mounts), or tribe (17+ plus 100% noncombatants; 1 sergeant of 3rd level per 20 adults; 1 or 2 lieutenants of 4th or 5th level; 1 leader of 6th–8th level; and 10–40 goblin dogs, wolves, or worgs)
I'd say there's good evidence that goblins get along fine with wolves.

@Macharius - I will put you down as healer role as well
@Cara Jos - just need to know what spot your applying for, as your character is not so much a tank but a melee dps, which I can put down as "other"
@Rumple - Good application, and yes goblins use wolves as mounts, they just prefer goblin dogs or worgs. You can't have a worg at level 1, but if you want a goblin dog, we can work out the details
@Fingernipper - nice app, are you looking to upgrade to advanced firearms at some point? I don't see a goblin being able to use them properly so I might just stick with early firearms for this campaign
